The overwhelmingly strong scent of gun powder igniting barely hit Sesshoumaru’s nose the just scant seconds after he released his Katanna from his hand. That’s when the ground around them moved violently beneath them. Sesshoumaru heard the panic voice of Ginta shouting over the communication device stuck in his ear.

“Bomb! Get the hell out of there!”

Kagome held onto Sesshoumaru for dear life as the building that they were in started to crack at the foundation. With her eyes clenched tightly, she would all ways remember the sound of the big corporate house falling down around her. That is if she lived through it. The groaning of the concrete foundation cracking, the steel beams shrieked as they stretched beyond their limits, and the glass windows that screamed as they shattered from the force of the explosion. Above all other noise, Kagome heard what was a high pitched scream of pain ringing in ear hears. ‘Inuyasha!’ Her mind cried.

The ground lurched pitching the couple backwards toward the exit. Glass and other debris rained on the occupants of the hallway. Sesshoumaru could feel the large bits of debris pounding against him. He tried to shield the tiny woman in his arms from the glass and concrete. Sesshoumaru could feel the glass shards cutting into his skin leaving small rivets of blood seeping from his body. From their current angle, Sesshoumaru saw the window implode around them while his and Kagome’s body were suspended in air. He only had a split second to react before Kagome and he were thrown into the stairwell and entombed there for their deaths. Sesshoumaru summoned his power to aid him for his escape out the window.

The weightless feeling lasted longer than Kagome had anticipated. The fact that she awaited agonizingly for the grasp of death to tear through her, but it didn’t claim Kagome. She dared to look and saw that she and Sesshoumaru were no longer inside the building. Instead, Kagome was outside hovering in the air watching the house of evil crumbling down. Hot tears rolled along her face, Kagome’s breath was labors, but it seemed like she couldn’t get a deep refreshing breath of air.

“Kagome, my love, calm down.” Sesshoumaru’s light voice sounded tight and raw to her ears.

Sesshoumaru squeezed Kagome harder into his body trying to melt her form with his. He navigated them down to the ground safely away from the destruction. The rush of people coming down upon them seemed to fade from existence, but all that mattered to Sesshoumaru was in his arms. He set Kagome on the ground and noticed that she had passed out from stress.

*RUMMBLE*

Gasps and shouts from his surrounding drew Sesshoumaru attention from Kagome. He turned just in time to see the building being totally decimated to the ground below. As the rubble of the corporate building collapsed upon itself a thick dust cloud billowed out like a mushroom cloud. The gray dust cloud was drawing ever closer to earth as its decent down was with amazing speed. Sesshoumaru’s thoughts know turned to his brother. “INUYASHA!”

Inuyasha’s had a hold on two of the eight spinnerets that where trying to tear at him when the smooth thin black legs were jerked from his hold. Inuyasha took advantage of Naraku’s loss of hold on him. Inuyasha watched with disbelief as the unmistakable glint of blessed metal reflected off his older half brother katanna, spearing Naraku through the abdomen. It didn’t kill Naraku on impact like Sesshoumaru probably would have liked thought Inuyasha with a half smile. He rolled his back against the floor and kicked his feet up jumping off the ground landing on his feet. But, the moment he landed the once secure ground the building seemed to be ripping apart at the seams.

Instead of bellowing in pain Naraku released a laugh that echoed the pains of hell. He reverted back into his human form instead of his demonic one. It would be much easier to release the sword that was stuck in his chest. Naraku knew he wasn’t going to get out of this alive, but if he had the opportunity to take one person with him to hell, especially a Masarau brother, why not? His blood stained hand gripped the end of the sword and pulled it from his body. Naraku could feel his life force slowly easing away from him. He looked up from his chest with wild pained eyes at an inu-hanyou that seemed to have come out of his demonic rage. Naraku dropped the katanna to the ground before making an obscene comment to Inuyasha, but he beat Naraku to it.

“Bastard, you’re still alive?”

“Does that bother you Inuyasha?”

More debris started to cave down on them creating a loud roar that filled Inuyasha ears while the dust burned his eyes, however; he could still Naraku taunting him.

“Poor Inuyasha, you lost everything the hold dear in this life, what’s left for you to live for now?”

Inuyasha eyed the fallen sword on the ground and made a move for it. Within a blink of an eye he had the shard edge of the blade press hard against the throat of Naraku. “One,” Inuyasha counted, “I will live to see you pay for the injustices you have committed.” Inuyasha pressed more into the skin of the throat drawing a thin line of blood. “Two, I will live to see you take your last breathe, bastard.”

Naraku grinned through the pain, he was reviling in the thought that the foolish hanyou didn’t notice his nails extending out on his one good hand. Naraku raised it from his side and aimed it at Inuyasha. “Is that so Inuyasha?”

Pain radiated in Inuyasha shoulder, but before he knew what had happened. Inuyasha could hear Naraku’s fading voice.

“I’ll see you in hel~….” Naraku never got a chance to finish what he was saying because the taste of cold steel killed him.

Inuyasha decapitate the evil that haunted his life, and the lives of so many people he loved. “Not today Naraku.” He wheezed out in a ragged breathe.

“Kagome!” Sango yelled as she saw her dearest friend now being loaded into an awaiting ambulance. Sango ran like there was no tomorrow and in the distance Miroku could be seen trailing after her.

Sesshoumaru new Kagome was going to be fine. That’s why he rushed off toward the wreckage of Naraku Incorporated Inc. Of all the time to be filled with brotherly concern and well being it had been now. No one could make out the physical form of Sesshoumaru, only the silver blur streaking across the lawn head for the fallen building.

Miroku saw the entire scene. “Sango sweets go with Kags to the hospital. We will meet up with you later.”

Sango nodded and jumped in the back of the ambulance before it took off.

Miroku’s violet colored eyes watched the ambulance take off then he averted his attention back to the chaos around him. That is when he took off for the rubble where he had seen Sesshoumaru go. Miroku only made it half way cross the long expansion of lawn when the sight emerging from the fallen ashes stopped him. Startling glowing gold eyes pierced through all the thick soot and muck.

There appearing from the cloudy gray haze was a sight no one in there right mind would have ever believed. A breeze, ever so gentle, traced it way toward the taiyoukai as he walked stoically out of the fallen wasteland of evil. His silver stands of hair blew side to side with every step he made, proud and determined. As the scene started to clear, there in the Lord of the Western Lands arms was his battered bloodied half brother, Inuyasha. No one would forget this sight, the image of Sesshoumaru rescuing Inuyasha, pulling him from the depth of the debris that had entrapped him from the rest of the world. No, no would ever forget this sight. Why? An associated press agent had this image captured in a photographed for all to see on the evening news.

Kagome awoke in the sterile stark white hospital room by herself. She was a little disoriented, but it all came back to in a flash. Kagome barely had time to take in the fact that she was lying on a hospital bed, clothed in a patient nigh gown before images of the past events replayed in her mind over and over. Rewind and replay. Kagome was locked into the hellish dream state until she felt a gentle hand on her shoulder.

“Excuse me Mrs. Masarau?”

Kagome flinched as she turned to look at the person who touched her. There next to her bedside was a beautiful woman with sun kissed blonde hair and bright blue eyes, wearing a starch white lab coat with a stethoscope around her neck.

“I’m sorry I scared you.” The woman gave a warm smile. “Allow me to introduce myself, I’m Doctor Alessa.”

“Where am I?”

“You are at Kyto Regional Hospital.”

Kagome didn’t respond. She was desperately trying to figure out how she got here.

Doctor Alessa took the renowned taiyoukai’s wife silence as permission to continue. However, the Doctor couldn’t help but notice the look on her patient’s face. Mrs. Masarau looked lost and confused. “Well, Mrs. Masarau I have good news. All the tests came back indicating that everything is fine. We bandage up your calve and cleaned up the small laceration on your body. There is no sign of infection, so you should be released….” The good Doctor was cut off before she could finish.

The door on room number 304 was thrown open surprising the occupants. There in the opening was the taiyoukai Kagome had been praying to kami to see. Tears started to fill her eyes again for what seemed to be the millionth time, but these tears were different some how. They were tears of joy. Kagome tossed the blankets aside and rose off the bed. Her entire world stood in front of her, the man she loved with every fiber of her being, and Sesshoumaru looked like he had walked through hell and back. He, Kagome decided, looked just as bad as she felt, and that made her laugh. She felt the stress being lifted off her soul knowing Sesshoumaru was there and alive before her misty eyes. But, one thing was puzzling Kagome. Sesshoumaru still didn’t move a muscle. He had not come to her at all. Instead he was gapping at her like she was some sort of illusion. It was like he was waiting for her to disappear into thin air. But, Kagome wasn’t going anywhere, not without Sesshoumaru anyways. All she wanted was to be in his, and now. Then an idea came to her. Kagome lifted her left hand up in commanding air prior to speaking. Next, her voiced called to him. “Come to me Sesshoumaru.”

The good Doctor Alessa felt a little awkward with the couple’s reunion. She felt like she was intruding upon something private, so the moment her pager went off, thank kami, Doctor Alessa went shuffling out the door. Reading the pager, it was a code 881, which meant there was a poisoning. Doctor Alessa ran to the emergency room as fast as she could. Little did she know what awaited her in the ER room was an impetuous hanyou that would change her life forever.

Sesshoumaru smirk at Kagome’s bold impersonation of him, commanding him to her, and this Sesshoumaru obeyed. He was in his wife’s arms holding her in a fierce embrace that he never wanted to relinquish. Somehow in less that twenty-four hours Sesshoumaru had come to realize how much Kagome meant to him. How much he loved her, and that life wouldn’t be the same without her. Sesshoumaru was searching for the right words to let her know of his love. All the legendary poets and famous literature of loves bliss had failed Sesshoumaru. Nothing seemed worthy to speak to Kagome. He was pulling back from Kagome when she squeezed him tighter to her bruised body.

“Please hold me, Sesshoumaru.” Kagome’s voice was raw, but filled with passion. “I….” she faltered a little over the words she was desperate to tell him. “I love you.” Only then did she pull her face away from his chest to look into those liquid golden eyes. Kagome felt her breath halt. The look from Sesshoumaru was all to telling. It was mirroring the same feelings she spoke, but Kagome wasn’t sure he was going to tell her. ‘That’s okay.’ She told herself. ‘I’m patient wife. I can wait a little while longer. Yep, I’m only giving five more minutes for you, husband, to tell me you love me then, regretfully, I will have to beat it out of you.’ That last though made Kagome smile brightly. She was about to say something else when Kagome felt Sesshoumaru’s finger tip gentle placed on her lips.

Sesshoumaru felt embarrassed, yet again Kagome had put to words what he so urgently desired to tell her. It seemed to be the easiest thing in the world for his wife to do. He stood here holding her in silence after her declaration of love and yet he had not replied. Sesshoumaru wanted to but he had to get past the tightness in his chest that threatened to steal his breath, to steal the words he needed to speak. Then he watched her begin to open her mouth, that’s when he brought on hand up and tenderly close her lushes lip with a finger. “Kagome,” he lowered his forehead to hers. “I love you too.”

There in the small stark white hospital room two lovers glazed longingly into each other eyes and shared a fervent kiss. It was then that they felt their world fade away into oblivion.
