Night Terrors

The cat demon stoked the fire as the clicking sounds in the distence grew more intense, she knew what that ment. It ment that they had gotton what they wanted. A single silver tear fell from her eyes as she thought about what had just happend. Certainly they had suceeded in dragging her into the dark. She shook her head in denail.
" Such a young girl........and her poor mate." Just then a foriegn sound reached her sensitive cat like ears. A screech of pain, a screech so awful and yet so wonderful at the same time. It was a sound that could not have come from anything from this world human or not. They had let out a scream of pain and failure. Could this mean that they had not gotten the girl? No that was impossible, no body ever escaped. But still, if they had in fact gotten her, why would they emit such a horrid sound?
The neko had no more time to think about the subject, for a blinding white light filled her eyes. It took a few seconds for her feline eyes to adjust enough to see what was behiind the source. It was the dog demon and he was holding a small bundel in his arms, a small bloody bundel.
As he walked closer to camp, the dreadful scent of human blood filled her nose to the point she felt as though she was going to gag. She now knew why they had screamed so ........................ he had taken their prize.
When he placed the girl by the fire wrapped in his outer kimono, she could see the girls blood stained clouths, her pale skin, and seveir wounds that coverd her legs. The cat demon quickly removed the ribbon that held her hair and wrapped it around one of the worser wounds as her blonde hair flowed down around her face. She didnt have the time to explain to the dog demon what she was doing, every second was critical.
She slit her wrists and held her palms over Kagomes wounds. As her blood began to drip into the girls open wounds she began to mumble somthing in a foreign language. A bright blue light engulfed the cat demon and Kagome as the woulds from her legs slowly closed and turned to nothing. The wounds on the cat demons wrists disipeared and the light faded. The cat demons face screwed up in pain as she fell over to the ground. Inu yasha looked from Kagome to the cat demon in disbelief.
"Y-You are a healer?" he said as he looked at the cat demon .
" Not hardly im afraid" she said as she winced in pain. Her green kimono had red blotches on it. The blotches soon became large spots, and the spots began to grow larger. Inu yasha could smell the scent of blood flowing from her in thick waves. Kagomes color had slowly retuned to her face and her legs were no longer coverd in unsightly wounds, now his attention was drawn by the one who had quiet possibly saved her life.
" Your bleeding" he whisperd as he reached out a clawed hand to raise her kimono so he could see the wounds. She smacked his hand away as she gasped in pain.
" Oh pish posh, Im just fine thankyou" she said as she straightend out her kimono.
"feh" was all Inu yasha said as he returned his sights to Kagomes unconscious form in front of him.
"If you are not a healer then why is it that she is still breathing" Inu yasha asked without letting his gaze wander from Kagome.
"Its simple really, just a wound relocation spell" she replied as she attempted to luagh but failed misirably.She could see the questioning look on his face as she told him this. She roled her eyes and raised her kimono a bit just far enough for him to see the horrid slash marks that coverd her legs.
She looked at his face as realization hit him like a kick in the gut.
"Look familier? They should, they are the same wounds that were on your mate moments ago" she sad as sheloward her kimono. As these words registerd in Inu yashas head the words your mate rang in his ears, it was time to set this cat straight.
"Whats your name?" he asked.
"Shiori" she responed.
" Well Shiori, my name is Inu yasha, let us get one thing straight Kagome is not my mate, she is my best friend and I am her protector that is it ok?" he said flatly.
She nodded. She found it odd that a dog demon and a young human girl could be so close and be just friends, but she was in no mood to ask questions and she could tell he was in no mood to give answers. She sighed as a sign of surrender. She layed her head down and closed her eyes in a attempt to sleep.
Inu yasha looked at the neko and then back to Kagome. She looked so peaceful when she slept, not at all like Kikyo, who was never at peace, she was always so alert, and prepared for danger. When he first saw Kagome he had thought she was Kikyo, but now he could never make that same mistake. They were so diffrent, he could no sooner mistake a rose from a sakura blossum. Kikyo was so serious, not once had she ever smiled a true smile, where as Kagome was cheerful and high spirited, not a day went by that she didnt laugh or smile.
He placed Kagomes head in his lap as she had done for him so long ago. bsenbsent mindedly stroked her soft black hair as he brushed it away from her eyes. He knew that it was a miricle that she was even breathing let alone sleeping peacefully in his arms. He smiled as she sighed dreamily in her sleep.
Shiori cracked one of her eyes open slightly to spy on the couple.
' Just friends? Thats what you think' she smirked slightly as she closed her eyes and gave the soon to be mates some privacy.
