An Abomination Known As Deception
Hey my lovely readers! Just wanted to give a big thanks to Kitty for the ideas, they were a great help! Now, on to chapter 5!
Break Down: remains the same! Enjoy!
“I don’t have any obligation what so ever to tell you about my past romantic interests! This is business we have between us, last time I checked that doesn’t come with the job.” she yelled back. Kagome sighed. She clenched and unclenched her hands in order to bring back control and serenity to her being. [won’t do us any good if I lose control now and kill everyone on sight] she thought. “Look,” she began, “ we are wasting time here, we have to get your requirements and specifics out of the way so that we can keep him from harming or taking what has gained his interest.”
Sesshoumaru’s rage subsided...to a degree. She was right. He was still upset that she had an intimate relationship, any form of relationship in fact, with Naraku but he will speak to her about that after the mission...privately. He blinked away the crimson shade that over powered his amber orbs and stared intently at her, his mind battling with itself.
Kagome kept her sight trained on Sesshoumaru. Not only because she feared he could still lash out at her but because he just stood there, doing nothing. [what is going on in that devil’s mind?] she curiously thought. As soon as that thought was freed from the confinements of her mind, he spoke.
“ the only specific requirement that you need to know is that I will be joining in on the raid and I will have full control of the group.” He saw her eyes take on a darker shade, a sure sign of her rapidly growing outrage. “But,” he continued, “ you will give the orders. I just have the right to reject and midify them if they don’t seem to fit my tastes or requirements.” that seemed to have calmed her, somewhat.
“Very well.” she managed to say through gritted teeth. She then turned to her group and they understood the silent message: time to go.
She made her way to them and turned back to Sesshoumaru expectantly. He, on the other hand, had no clue what was occurring at the moment. [ why is she just standing there like she wants me to go over there? I have the transportation ready, why aren’t they making their way outside?] his confusion evident.
Kagome voiced her response to his questions. It seemed that he forgot that she could read minds. “Any form of transportation that you have prepared is much too slow, no matter what you claim. I have a technique that will get us there in a matter of 1-2 minutes depending on the size of the group. Just join in with us and we can continue” she finished.
With that explanation, Sesshoumaru made his way toward them in hopes of satiating his never ending curiosity. [ this woman and her mysteries are going to be the death of me] he thought.
She looked out of the corner of her eye toward Sesshoumaru, catching his gaze. Her amethyst eyes began to gain an unnatural glow to them, the only sign of the technique’s beginning use. So captivating were her eyes that Sesshoumaru had not realized that they were completely surrounded by a chilling darkness. He did not pay any mind to the plummeting temperature either, all he wanted was to remain imprisoned in those eyes. Her voice broke the trance that he so wanted to be lost in.
“I hope so” she responded back. It was at that moment that Seshoumaru realized what she truly was after. He felt a new emotion take a hold of his being: anticipation. For Naraku wasn’t the true target, he was.
Upon this realization, he failed to notice that they were at their destination: an abandoned warehouse in the middle of nowhere. He also failed to notice that the target was before them. So taken by her words he didn’t heed the warnings going off in his mind until the dark and sinister voice of the cause of his paranoia broke through.
“ Have you come to hand over your greatest accomplishment, Sesshoumaru?” Naraku asked with a gleam in his eyes. Sesshoumaru growled before responding. “ you will not have my throne, I will kill you for even voicing such a thing.”
Naraku let out a dark laugh that had goose bumps going up Kagome’s skin. [ so different from what I remember. He’s nothing but a power hungry freak now] she reminded herself.
“ you assume that’s what I was referring to but you are wrong,” he paused and looked straight at Kagome before beginning anew, “ what I seek to possess is standing before me.”
Kagome’s and Sesshoumaru’s eyes widen with realization, for they are the only that understand his cryptic response. The realization coming in the form of a little detail they seemed so familiar with from their past, but managed to over look it when dealing with Naraku.
For in his crimson orbs, Kagome is Seshoumaru’s greatest accomplishment.
