Chapter 7

A few more years went by and Saskai was right he and Riku became the best of friends. Saskai was now 17 and he had a younger brother called Horai who had just turned 11. Since Horai was born Sesshomaru and Rin hadn’t had anymore children. When Horai was born he was the same as Saskai as a baby. The only difference between the two was that Horai had black tips at the end of his silver hair. He did have the same blue crescent moon on hid forehead but his pink strips where on the side of his neck not on his face.

Rin was now 30 but she still looked the same as she did when she had Horai. As she was now a half demon because of her mating mark from Sesshomaru. She would age the same as a normal demon does.

Saskai and Riku would always get together and spare but their was never a winner. They where both equal in power and strength. Riku was older than Saskai but he looked like a 17 year old. Demon children will grow up until they reach a certain age and then they will stop aging even after a hundred years. So Saskai will always look young the same as his brother.

Horai would always hate it when Saskai would go out the palace walls with Riku and not take him with them. Saskai always kept telling him that he was to young to leave the castle. Since Saskai was now older he didn’t act like a child anymore. He mostly acted like his father but that was different with Horai he mostly acted like his mother. Their personalities where completely different to one another’s.

Saskai loved his little brother dearly but sometimes he would think that Horai always gets in the way. Rin would always tell him to take it easy on Horai because he is still a child. Sesshomaru could never understand why his youngest son was nothing like him. When Saskai had turned 7 that was when he began to act like his father.

“Come on Saskai I want to go hunting to” Horai said to his older brother. “Look Horai I said no your to young and you will just get in the way” Saskai told him. “I promise I wont get in the way please let me come with you”. Saskai grabbed his sword from his room “look I said no and that’s final” he said rather harshly. He then walked out the door leaving and upset Horai standing by himself. Saskai started walking down the hall “I HATE YOU SASKAI” Horai yelled running out the door. Saskai just kept walking until he turned the corner and Horai couldn’t see him anymore.

That was the first time ever that Horai actually told Saskai that he hated him. Saskai felt a little bit bad not allowing him to come. Unfortunately that was the rule, he was never allowed out side the castle walls until he was 15.

“Saskai” he heard his name being called why he was passing his father’s study. He stopped and saw his father standing at the door way. “Yes father” Saskai just stood their not even looking at Sesshomaru. “What is wrong with your brother I heard him yelling at you” Sesshomaru asked his eldest son. “He had asked if he could come hunting with me but I told him no” Saskai told him. “I see then why don’t you take him with you” Sesshomaru asked him, “father you know as very well as I do that he is not aloud to leave the castle grounds” Saskai told him. “Did you tell him that” Sesshomaru then asked. “He should know that father I am not his teacher” Saskai replied “no but you are his older brother” Sesshomaru said.

Saskai looked at his father “maybe so but I have more important things to do than babysitting him” he then just walked of. Sesshomaru watched his son walk away ‘something is bothering you isn’t their Saskai’ Sesshomaru thought to himself.

Saskai walked out of the castle gates and saw Riku waiting for him “sorry you had to wait” he told Riku. “So what kept you I’ve been waiting for ages” Riku told him, he maybe older but he was still his bad ass self. “I just had to deal with a little problem that’s all” Saskai told him, they started to walk towards the forest. “By little problem you mean your younger brother” Riku asked. “Who else man every time I go somewhere he is always asking me if he can come I tell you it gets annoying after awhile” Saskai told his friend.

“Well that’s why I’m grateful not to have any siblings I don’t know how the hell I could deal with their annoying wining” Riku said. “I’m not saying Horai’s a bad kid its just that I cant seem to do anything by myself anymore” Saskai told Riku. “What do you mean” Riku asked him, “well everywhere I go in the castle he always follows me and if I tell him to stop he starts crying” Saskai told him. “You know what I think its not just your brother that’s troubling you but there is something that is bothering you as well am I right” Riku asked him. “You don’t know what your talking about” Saskai replied. They then heard a noise and could smell something in the air, the hunt was on.

Rin was in the garden when she saw Horai looking really upset “Horai” she called out to him. He saw her and ran straight towards his mother. Horai hugged his mum why crying in her lap “sweetie what’s wrong” Rin asked her weeping son. He looked up at her with tears coming down his face. “Sa…Sa…Saskai…mph…said I couldn’t go hunting with him” he told her between whimpers. He then put his face back in Rin’s lap “sshh its ok” she started to stroke his beautiful silver hair.

Sesshomaru had walked out and saw his youngest son crying in his mother’s lap. He knew that Horai was crying because he wasn’t aloud to go hunting with Saskai and Riku. He walked over to his mate and pup. Rin saw Sesshomaru approaching why she was still stroking his hair trying to calm him down. “Horai stop crying” Sesshomaru told him in a cold voice, Horai looked up and turned around and saw his father staring at him. He stood up and faced his father why wiping his tears.

“No son of mine shall cry do you understand” he told his son but Horai didn’t say anything he just looked down at the ground. “Sesshomaru please do not be harsh on him he is rather upset” Rin told him. “That does not concern me” he looked down at his son “look at me Horai” he said. His young son looked up, Horai saw the look on his fathers face and he knew that he was not impressed on how he was behaving. “You are not a baby anymore Horai and it is about time you grow up” he turned around “crying makes a man weak remember that” and Sesshomaru walked of.

“Crying makes a man weak is that why I have never seen big brother cry” he said to himself. Rin was about to put her hands on his shoulders when he just took of. “That’s it from now on I will not cry and I will be strong and make father proud of me, I wont bug Saskai anymore I will change my ways from now on” he said to himself.

Saskai had retuned home and Riku had already headed back to the east. He walked through the gates when he heard someone yelling. It was coming from the spare ring from the other side of the castle. Saskai walked around and he couldn’t believe what he saw, it was Horai practicing how to spare. “What the hell is he doing” Saskai asked himself, he walked out into the clearing and headed over to the ring.

Horai stopped what he was doing when he saw his older brother walking towards him. Saskai stopped and stood behind the wooden gate which went around in a square shape. “You know your stick should be higher above your head” Saskai told him. Horai brought his hands down when Saskai saw the look on his younger brother’s face he felt a sharp pain in the pit of his stomach. It felt like guilt after complaining to Riku about how much Horai bugs him he suddenly started to regret ever saying those things.

Horai was his little brother and he had promised when he was younger that he would be the best big brother in the world. Some big brother Saskai felt like a complete bully after the way he treated Horai. Saskai jumped over the wooden fence and walked over to his brother. Horai then felt a hand on his head he looked up.

“Sorry” was all he heard from Saskai’s mouth he wasn’t looking at Horai he just stared at what was in front of him. ‘He apologised’ Horai couldn’t believe it. Saskai hardly apologises to anyone besides their mother and father. Horai and Saskai had fought with each other when they where growing but Saskai never apologised. He had to much pride in him just like Sesshomaru he considered emotions weak.

The only person he would show any emotion towards was their mother because she was very dear to him. It had all started when Saskai was 6 when he started acting like a completely different person. He didn’t want to play with Horai anymore he just mostly kept to himself.

“That’s ok” Horai said to him “I know that you thought I would be a pain if I came and I would have been” Horai told him. “It is not just that, I had pushed you away and had been mean to you when I should be here for you as a big brother should but I guess I am not very good at that” Saskai said. “No your wrong you’re a great big brother I don’t care about all the fights we had or any of that you’re the best brother any kid could ask for” Horai said to him. Saskai looked down at his little brother.

“But”, “but nothing Saskai no matter what happens where brothers sure its not going to be perfect and yeah I understand now why you don’t want me around but were brothers and nothing can change that your not a bad brother and you never where” Horai told Saskai. A small smile came up on Saskai’s face. It had been a long time since he smiled and he was happy that his little brother was the first one to see it.

Sesshomaru and Rin had been watching their son’s from a distance “well I am glad that they have made up aren’t you dear” Rin said. “Hmph” and Sesshomaru walked away but a small smile came up on his face. Even though his sons had made up he knew very well that their was something else on his eldest sons mind and he needed to know what it was.
