Just a Little Rivalry

Chapter 7: Meet the…Higurashi’s?

--Friday Morning--

“Do you have any plans this weekend?” Inu Yasha looked down at the top of his girlfriend’s dark head.

“Yeah and so do you,” she responded sweetly.

“What?!? I hadn’t made any plans yet. I was trying to make plans with you. What do you mean I have plans?” Inu Yasha was worried that he may have forgotten something.

It had been two weeks since the episode with Kikyo. Sango had been right. The girls had just been a little extra sweet and kept their noses clean, and everything had been fine. The animosity between Koga and Inu Yasha had dissipated to mostly competitiveness. Playful arguments and the blows that always came after were amusing and Kagome could always simply break it up if she needed to.

Nothing had been mentioned about their fib since that initial outburst.

“Well, I was going to go home, and I wanted to ask you if you would like to join me.” Kagome used her index finger to toy with the necklace she had bought him the other night at the fair that had been set up on campus just outside of the student union. Sango and Miroku had joined Kagome and Inu Yasha. The group met up with Koga and two of his friends, Ginta and Hakkaku.

“You want me to go home with you and meet your family?” Inu Yasha was starting to glow a little from his blush. He hadn’t thought of meeting her family but had been planning on asking Kagome to come to his place this weekend to meet some of his other friends and his parents. He hoped that she wouldn’t have to be subjected to his older brother’s asinine attitude.

Meeting her family would be good. If he made a good impression, he would be that much better in her view. And, he would have pretty much to himself for the whole weekend.

Kagome looked up into Inu Yasha’s eyes and smiled. She allowed her arms to wrap around his neck to pull his head down. Her lips met his for a brief instant.

“Of course I want you to meet my family. I think that you would like them, and I know that they will love you. Especially your ears,” she purred in a low voice.

“Well, in that case, I will be more than happy to go. Just give me a real kiss and then go to your class. We will meet up at your room after your last class. I have just this one today.”

A blush covered Kagome’s face. She was never one to really do more than just hold hands or hug in public. Inu Yasha seemed to really have an exhibitionist streak that was starting to rub off onto her. First they were making out in public after only knowing each other for a few days. Now he liked for her to kiss him before they parted. Not just a quick kiss on the lips, no it had to be a deep, loving kiss that was very involved. Kagome wasn’t complaining; she was just a little shy about it causing her to blush deeply whenever he made these requests/demands.

She pulled his head back down and guided his lips back to hers. He quickly took over the kiss and deepened it. His tongue pushed its way into her mouth to take in her taste. She kept her arms around his neck. He had placed an arm possessively around her waist and allowed the other hand to rub her back a few times before coming to rest in her hair at the back of her head to tilt it back. The kiss went on until he lifted his head to smile warmly down at her as she caught her breath.

The reprieve didn’t last long. He used his hand in her hair to hold her head still for a second kiss he was intending to take. The second kiss was more intense as he dominated her mouth. He left no room for argument or insubordination. His tongue swept back into her mouth without letting hers battle for dominance.

When he felt that she needed air again, he pulled back and held her head to his chest as she gulped in air.

“I’ll see you later. Take care. Call if you need me for anything, k? I can’t wait to go to your family’s place.” Inu Yasha was reassuring her as she rested her head on him just where he placed it.

Kagome nodded her head after a moment and pulled back. “I’ll be back at my place at around one. Will you be there by then?”

“Of course. Wouldn’t be late for the world.”


--In the Classroom--


“What was that about out there?” Sango teased her friend. She knew that Kagome was going to ask Inu Yasha to come with her to her home this weekend. She also knew that that kiss meant that he was going.

“Stuff it, Sango. Did ask Miroku?”

“He will be riding with me. Are we riding together or is Inu Yasha driving you two? Remember you left your car home this week. We decided to save gas.” The two girls finished planning the events for the day. They had called home earlier and enlightened their family of the possibility of their new boyfriends joining them. The family, of course, started immediately planning on a get-together. They all wanted to meet the two boys that their baby girls were bringing home.

“I don’t know. We can get that all figured out this afternoon. He will be at our place around one. You finish up for the day around that time, right?”

“Not this time. I won’t be done until around three. I have to meet Professor Hakitaki. I have a few questions about my idea for his paper we have to get done in what, about three weeks,” Sango said, “Miroku is meeting me after I get done at our place. Just text me and let me know the game plan. We wouldn’t be leaving until around three thirty if you wait on us.”

“I will just wait and see what Inu Yasha is up for. He seems really excited. We may just go grab a bite and wait, but if he wants to drive his car, we will go ahead and get home.” Kagome hoped to encourage him to wait. It would be nice to have a couple of free hours completely to themselves.


--1:00--


Inu Yasha lounged on Kagome’s bed as she told him their options. He had a choice between having her all to himself for two hours and then riding in the backseat with her in her friend’s car for an hour, or he could go ahead and drive her home now. Hmm, that sounds like a no brainer. He would just be sure to lock his car up in student parking. The campus police patrolled often enough that he was sure that it would be safe. He would just alert Jakotsu and Bankotsu what he was doing since they were staying on campus to do some work.

“We can just wait, but what are we going to do with our extra time?” His smile was very sexy to her. She knew what he wanted to do.

“Well…we could go get something to eat and go for a walk, or we can just hang out here. What are you up for?” She could play coy for a moment.

He stood up and grabbed her around the waist to pull her down to land on top of him on her bed.

“I think that we can just stay here,” he whispered as he pulled her head down for a kiss.

She kissed him back, pushing her tongue inside his mouth to taste and tease him. She licked his fangs slowly then pushed in to stroke his tongue.

Inu Yasha couldn’t handle that for too long. He let her have her fun for a moment then took control of the kiss by forcing her tongue back with his own so that he could taste her fully. He loved her sweet taste. She tasted like she smelled, sweet and crisp at the same time. He loved the apple scent that she exuded.

Inu Yasha let out a rumbling growl that vibrated his chest. The sound was soothing and exciting at the same time. Kagome felt his chest through his tee shirt as she roamed over it with her hands. He pulled back from the kiss to get a breath. She leaned back to him to tease him with some butterfly kisses.

She started with his lips and trailed to his jaw line. The kisses proceeded along to his neck until she reached his ears. She braced herself with one hand still on his chest and trailed her right hand down to his groin. Kagome sucked Inu Yasha’s ear lobe into her mouth and nipped it playfully just as her hand cupped his balls and squeezed lightly.

Inu Yasha was getting harder by the second. They had not as of yet made it past heavy petting and make out sessions, and he was trying to take things carefully with this girl. He wanted her around for a long time. He also wanted to introduce her to his parents still a virgin. He liked that he could smell the purity in her scent.

Kagome felt his hardness against her arm. It seemed to just turn her on even more knowing that he desired her. She continued to plant kisses down his neck and began to stroke his length through his jeans. He was wearing a green tee that seemed to just enhance his gold eyes in an incredibly sexy way.

Inu Yasha was getting excited; he began to kiss Kagome on the back of her neck. He slowly started to maneuver her until she was on her back on the bed and he was pressed between her legs.

He continued to make the low rumbling sound that was vibrating his chest. He drifted his head down to her chest, nuzzling along the way. He reached her stomach only to press his head into her and take in a deep breath. He had to calm down or he would never stop this.

Kagome started to run her fingers through his hair slowly. She knew he was trying to calm himself down.

“Mom is going to make you sleep in either Souta’s room or in the guest bedroom, which is right next to mine.” She was trying to draw him into a conversation, but she only managed to keep his mind on his erection by images of her sleeping just on the other side of a wall.

After a few minutes, Inu Yasha looked up at her and went up to kiss her on her forehead.

“We still have a little bit of a wait. Are you hungry?” he asked her.

“A little, you?” She eyed him closely.

“Let’s go grab a coke, and how about a pretzel?” He was trying to tempt her with the large doughy pretzels that she had shown a weakness for.

The pair walked toward the student union. Kagome grabbed a table outside while Inu Yasha went to the vender. He returned with two cokes and one large salted pretzel.

“Mmm, I love these,” Kagome said as she pulled off a chunk and ate it. Inu Yasha watched her devour the piece that she pulled off.

The two ate and mused how the weekend would go. Just as they made their way back to Kagome’s room, Sango and Miroku were loading their bags into the trunk. Inu Yasha retrieved both his and Kagome’s and loaded them as well. Sango drove with Miroku in the front seat, Inu Yasha and Kagome lounged in the back. Kagome laid her head in the crook of his shoulder.

The trip was made with music and lots of goofing off from all four occupants.

Just as Sango pulled up at Kagome’s house, Mrs. Higurashi ran out to meet the group in the car.

“Sango, honey, your dad called; he wants you to stay over here for a bit. He is heading to the store to get ready for our cook out tonight. He will be over here in around five, that’s about thirty minutes from now.”

Everybody unloaded from the car and stretched after their how long ride/drive.

“Come on. You guys can meet Souta and Grandpa. That, obviously, was my mom,” Kagome suggested.

A boy around 14 came running out of the house to throw his arms around Kagome then Sango. He looked at Miroku and Inu Yasha, “You must be their boyfriends. Which one’s Inu Yasha?” He looked between the two guys.

“I am, squirt,” Inu Yasha supplied.

“Hey! I’m not a squirt, punk!” Souta defended himself.

“Whoa, hold on a minute! I was just kidding,” Inu Yasha held his hands up in front of himself.

Souta just stuck out his tongue.

“Wow, Souta, that is really mature,” Sango said.

Kagome just started laughing.

Introductions went smoothly until Grandpa decided he wanted to purify Inu Yasha. Inu Yasha just ran and laugh. It would be good just to keep the old man lively. Mom just shook her head and admonished Grandpa for his behavior. She had been embarrassed enough when she had wanted to feel his doggie ears. Thankfully Inu Yasha just smiled and allowed it.

Miroku was thankfully behaving himself, especially when Sango’s dad showed up. He and Kohaku brought the food while Mom (a/n Kagome’s mom. I will refer to Sango’s dad as Dad b/c there is only the two parents-not married to each other.) supplied the charcoal and grill.

While the food was cooking, the women sat in the kitchen at the table and the guys, all five of them, were standing around the grill contemplating the different ways to fix hamburgers before they decided to get creative.


~With the Women~


“So, how did you meet Inu Yasha, Kagome? And you Miroku, Sango?” Mom was asking about their new boyfriends, as any mother would want to do.

“Well, Inu Yasha and Miroku are friends; they actually know Koga. Inu Yasha just walked up one day and asked me out. He told me to bring Sango to appease Koga and that he would bring Miroku too. That was pretty well it. We all just really hit it off.” Kagome was blushing a little hoping her mom would not want to press for details. Mom really liked Koga as one of Kagome and Sango’s friends because he really took care of ‘her girls’.

Sango added her voice to what Kagome said, “As they say, the rest is history.”

Mom smiled at the girls and continued to ask about the new guys. She didn’t press for any more on how they first met and got together.

As their talk took on a light-hearted mother/daughters happy-go-lucky tone, they got the dishes, condiments and other foods together and ready to go outside to the picnic table.


~The Guys~


After they had gotten the burgers onto the grill, Dad sent Kohaku and Souta out to do anything that he could think of so that he could talk to the boys that the girls brought home.

“What are your intentions towards my daughters, you two? Make no mistake that, Inu Yasha, that Kagome is as much my little girl as Sango is. They have been together that long.” He eyed the boys closely watching their reaction. The only thing that would have made him happier is if he was either sharpening something like his sword or a big butcher knife or cleaning his 12 gauge. He wanted to be sure nothing happened to the girls. It was hard to look at them as adults even though they were in their third year of college.

“I care very deeply for Sango, sir,” Miroku said without any hesitation.

Inu Yasha looked into ‘Dad’s’ face and waited a moment before responding, “She will always be safe with me. I want to care of her for as long as she will allow me to.”

Dad nodded at the boys and relaxed after seeing their sincerity. He had no problem with either boy as long as they lived up to what they promised the girls and made them happy.

The rest of the cook out progressed splendidly. It seemed that Inu Yasha and Miroku just blended in with everybody and instantly became part of the family. Something just clicked there.

They all sat down around the large picnic table munching on burgers and other foods with the Kagome sitting next to Inu Yasha and Sango sitting next to Miroku and the couples sitting just across from each other.

After they finished eating and cleaned up their mess, everybody but Mom and Dad started a game of football. The game got progressively tougher. Souta had teamed up with the girls while Kohaku teamed up with the guys for even numbers.

Miroku threw the ball as hard as he could toward the goal; Kagome went to tackle it and wound up landing on top of another player. She looked down into amber eyes and smiled. He reached up and pulled her head down and planted a quick kiss on her lips as she snatched the ball to jump up and run it a little ways before tossing it to Sango.

When the scores were tied, it was just getting darker by the minute. The game dissipated at that point in favor of watching a movie.


~That Night~


Miroku wound up being placed on the couch in the living room. In between the living room and Sango’s room was Dad’s room. Not even pretending to go to the bathroom would get him into that side of the house. The bathroom was on the other side of the living room.

‘Oh, well. Might as well get comfortable for the weekend. We’re not going back until Sunday night.’

With that sentiment, he was dozing off.

Meanwhile in Sango’s room, she was opening her window and thanking god that the house was only one story unlike Kagome’s. She pulled out her keys and went through the window. Once out the window, she walked quietly around the house to come up to the front porch.

She opened the door. The lights were all off, so she just slipped in. The walk over to the couch was blessedly silent. She knelt in front of Miroku and placed a hand over his mouth as he came out of his light doze.

She let go once he realized who it was.

They curled up together.

Sango placed her lips lightly on his and pulled back. Miroku used the hand that he had tangled in her hair to bring her lips back to his. He moved his lips back and forth over hers while gradually increasing the pressure. He slipped his tongue in her mouth to taste this prize above all as far as he was concerned. He had been so pleased that they had clicked together. There would be no jealousy over his friendship with Inu Yasha or even Kagome as with most other girls that he had dated. He knew that she could trust him. Her arms wrapped around his waist while his shifted to wrap around her arms and back. They pulled apart and he smiled down at her.

She just wanted some contact with him. They turned on the TV and started a movie. It was nice to spend some time together. After they finished and shared some more kisses, Sango moved soundlessly back to her room. They would be going out tomorrow night anyway.

Inu Yasha had been placed in the guest room.

There was just a wall between the two rooms, so he could hear every movement that she made. Sometime in the night, Kagome started tossing and turning her bed. She was wide-awake now as her mind swirled with what she had been told by Kikyo. She and Sango still hadn’t got any answers out of the guys about what they knew. She had been able to place it in the back of her mind, but tonight it just would not stay there.

Inu Yasha listened to her movements for a while, but he decided to check on her when she mumbled something. He wasn’t sure what she had said.

He crept into the hallway, opened her door quietly and was greeted with-nothing. He could not see her, but he could definitely smell her apple scent.

The door moved behind him, and he spun around. Kagome was standing there holding a baseball bat. She let out a nervous giggle as she realized that it was just Inu Yasha coming into her room.

WHAT?!? He wasn’t supposed to be in here.

Almost as if he could here her thoughts, he said, “I heard you moving around then you started talking. I just wanted to check on you.”

He stepped up to her, and she put the baseball bat back down. He picked her up and held her to him. He sat in her bed and started growling to sooth her and hopefully lull her to sleep.

The rumbling from Inu Yasha’s chest was so relaxing to Kagome. She reached up and pressed a kiss to his lips before settling back down to go to sleep.

Once her breathing evened out, Inu Yasha took in her scent and started to rest. He only wanted to wait just a moment.

The next thing that he knew when he cracked open an eye was that he saw the room illuminated with the pink fingers from dawn. He gingerly shifted her onto her bed and tucked her in. He had to creep back to his room without being caught.

The hallway was clear as he opened the door and stepped out. Success! He made it back into his room just as the door that went to Grandpa’s room opened.

Whew, this was a lot longer than I originally thought it would be. I figured I would disappoint you all by posting something that was about half of what I normally do.

Thank you all for my reviews. (I am just so happy and doing my happy dance.) The next chapter shouldn’t be too long from now, but if it is, don’t worry I didn’t forget about you all. The same goes for ‘From Goodbye to New Adventures’ listed under Koga/Kagome. It just depends on my cousin. She was in a car wreck, so I am taking care of her. (Don't worry she is okay. Her car is in multiple pieces, but she isn't. Yeah.)
