~~Chapter 7: New School~~
Kagome’s jaw hung open in awe as soon as she pulled up to her new school. There were all kinds of weird looking people all about, weird, yet still beautiful. She wondered how many mikos there were, there were quite a few normal looking students making their way to the school. The school itself was truly beautiful. A beige brick building with red and gold accents, a pond to the side, a lush green forest to the other, and flowered vines running up and down the building walls.
No sooner than she stepped outside and started making her way to the school, all eyes were on her. She paused and nervously shuffled her feet, waiting for everyone to return to what they were doing, but they didn’t. They all just stared at her. After a few minutes she finally snapped. “What are you all staring at!?” She screamed at the top of her lungs.
Nobody responded, but they all turned around and continued with what they were doing. They all had been informed of a new student’s arrival, but no one expected a miko, and especially one that was the spitting image of the queen bitch.
Wherever Kagome walked she could feel eyes on her. It wasn’t bad enough that she was at a new school, but somehow she stuck out like a sore thumb. It was really starting to make her nervous. Just as she walked in her supposed homeroom class the bell rang and everyone took their seats. The homeroom teacher quickly grabbed her hand and brought her to the front of the classroom. Kagome turned bright red from embarrassment as all eyes were yet again focused on her.
“Class this is Higurashi Kagome. She has come back home from a long stay in the States, so I hope you all make her feel welcome.” The teacher said before her homeroom class. She turned to Kagome smiling. “I am Mrs. Hime. I am assigning Sango as your guide around the school. She has all the same classes that you do, so it will be easy for the both of you.”
Sango nodded and caught Kagome’s attention, smiling at her. Soon after the bell rang Mrs. Hime called out to Kagome as her and Sango were making their way out. “Kagome! Wait, here’s your locker number and combination.”
Kagome bowed and thanked her, leaving with Sango. They walked in silence until Sango broke the ice. Apparently this girl wasn’t too outgoing. “So… how long were you in America?”
Kagome smiled; at least this girl was nice. “I’ve lived there for ten years. It was fun. I wish I could have stayed. If it weren’t for these supposed powers I have, I wouldn’t have had to move. But I am still glad to be home.” Once she opened her mouth she couldn’t shut it; her nerves were too on edge. “So why do you go to this school? You look normal enough.”
Sango’s eyes went wide at the sudden outburst from the quiet girl. She was so amazed that she almost forgot to answer her question. “Uh… oh, I go here because of my training. It classifies me as a lethal weapon. Plus, I have extra strength.” Sango smiled. “I’m what they like to call a demon slayer.”
Kagome smiled and nodded in understanding. “I’m a miko I guess.” She said, shrugging her shoulders.
They walked down the halls absorbed in conversation. They had so much in common, it was scary. They were so absorbed in their conversation that Kagome managed to miss Inuyasha standing outside his locker and her look-alike standing next to him.

Inuyasha stood by his locker bored out of his mind listening to Kikyo ramble on and on about her hair, make-up, and other stuff like that. Why she told him that shit he had no idea. As she was talking he zoned out, but was quickly snapped back into reality by a familiar scent; sakura blossoms and lavender. He quickly pushed Kikyo out of the way and scanned the halls for the person who owned the scent. But he couldn’t pinpoint it. It was definitely a her, human, and a miko. But he only knew one miko and that puzzled him, especially if it was this new girl that everyone was talking about.
Kikyo’s jaw slacked as Inuyasha pushed her out of his way and she put her hands on her hips. “What in Kami’s name is wrong with you Inuyasha? Why would you push me like that?!”
Inuyasha rolled his eyes. He was really getting tired of her prissy attitude. Ever since her father’s business took off, she had been acting like a money hungry snob. But, like he told his father, he had to keep up appearances. “I’m sorry. I thought I smelled something.” He sighed.
Kikyo wrapped herself around Inuyasha’s shoulders, kissing his neck. “Oh, it was probably that new girl that everyone is talking about. You know, they say she look’s like me.”
Inuyasha laughed, Kikyo wasn’t going to like what he had to say, but he was going to enjoy it. “In that case I guess you could say that all you mikos look alike then!”
Kikyo gasped and smacked him in the arm. “That is not true! I look nothing like my sister! What would make you say such a thing?”
That answer only made him laugh harder; she was so dense. “Because… apparently your not the only miko in this school anymore. Looks like you have a little competition oh great queen.”
Kikyo was seething. “How dare you say that to me!” She screamed, causing everyone to turn his or her attention to them. But then again she always was the drama queen. She yanked off her necklace with his high school ring on it and threw it to the ground. “I am tired of you making fun of me Inuyasha! I am better than that, and I am better than you! You can have your ring back; I’ll go find somebody else’s. I have guys throwing themselves at me! I don’t have to put up with you anymore. Consider us through!” She quickly turned on her heel and turning her nose up and walking off, leaving a laughing hanyou.
Inuyasha’s friend Miroku walked up to the laughing hanyou shaking his head. “So much for getting laid.” He smacked Inuyasha in the head. “Couldn’t you have at least slept with her first?”
Inuyasha stopped laughing and eyed his friend. “You’re such a pervert Miroku. Is that all you really think about. I mean, how could I sleep with that slut. We all know she cheated on me with other guys.”
Miroku shrugged his shoulders and smirked. “Yeah, but you would have got some.”

Classes went by quickly for Kagome and both her and Sango were glad they would actually have the evening to get to know one another. Having Sango around quickly made Kagome forget all about trying to find Inuyasha. Little did she know she was going to be introduced to him by her newfound best friend.
“Kagome, I want to introduce you to my friends.” Sango said excitedly, pulling Kagome outside the school. “You have to watch out for Miroku though. He has wandering hands.”
Kagome laughed at the thought of someone groping her friend. She didn’t seem like the type of person a guy would mess with, demon or not. “Fine, fine, I’m coming.”
As Sango’s friends came into view, Kagome’s heart nearly stopped. There was no mistaking it. There stood Inuyasha, silver hair, golden eyes, and those cute dog-ears. Boy, had he grown up. He was absolutely stunning. She didn’t remember him being this good-looking. Sango quickly snapped her out of her memories though before her mind could wander any further. “Kagome this is Miroku.” She pointed to the boy with short black hair and violet eyes, obviously human.
He bowed and looked Kagome up and down and smiled. “Such a pleasure to meet such a beautiful lady such as yourself.”
Kagome’s cheeks pinked at the compliment, but Sango just shook her head. “It’s no use Miroku, I’ve already warned her about you.” Sango snapped and turned to Inuyasha. “This is Inuyasha.”
Inuyasha’s brows furrowed as he heard her name. Where did he know that name? Better yet, how did he know her? She smelled oddly familiar to him, and looked familiar too, not that she didn’t look a little like Kikyo, but that wasn’t it. And was it him, or was she looking at him like she expected something out of him? Inuyasha grunted and crossed his arms. “How do I know you?”
Sango and Miroku looked at him like he was crazy. “Inuyasha, that’s impossible. She’s been in the State’s for ten years and she didn’t go to this school even when she did live here.” Sango said.
Kagome’s cheeks tinted, a little embarrassed by Inuyasha’s boldness. Maybe he did remember her a little after all. “No… not impossible. Just unlikely.” She said looking at the ground.
This time Sango and Miroku’s stares were focused on Kagome. Inuyasha wasn’t fazed and a scowl formed on his brow. “Spill it.” He snapped out.
Kagome met his gaze for the first time and she watched his eyes widen. He had to remember. Not many people had eyes like hers, beautiful iridescent silver orbs speckled with gold. But then again, he had only seen them once. “Um… how do I say this? Do you really not remember me at all?”
Inuyasha rolled his eyes. He knew her for sure, but he still couldn’t remember how. “Like I’d remember some human wench from ten years ago.” He huffed, but quickly regretted it, as he smelled her eyes begin to tear up.
That stung. She had at least hoped he would try. He really didn’t remember her. She had her hopes up for nothing. Not only that, he was an ass. He wasn’t her hero she remembered from ten years ago. She choked back the forming tears and grinned through them. “Well then I guess it’s not important for me to tell you then.” She turned and walked off. “Sango! Do you need a ride?”
“Yeah, I’ll be right there!” She yelled to Kagome’s retreating form and then turned to Inuyasha. “Good going Inuyasha. You just had to piss her off. Just because Kikyo broke up with you and ruined your image doesn’t mean you have to take it out on everyone else. Grow up.”
Sango ran to find Kagome in the parking lot and her jaw nearly dropped seeing Kagome sitting atop a 2005 black Nissan Skyline GTR with dark purple bolts of lightning across the sides, carbon fiber hood and wing, angel eye headlights, 19” chrome rims, and chrome trim. “You drive this! Wow!”
“Yeah, I’ve always wanted one, but they weren’t available in the States until 2006. I just had to get one when I got here.” Kagome giggled.
“In that case, we’re going on a drive around the city!” Sango chirped jumping in the car.
“Sounds fine by me.” Kagome said jumping in the car and revving the engine up.
