Finding Completion

Chapter Seven


"Welcome back," Kagome greeted Yomi when he came inside carring a large sack of goods. She was laying on the floor next to Shippo reading from a children's book. The baby was sleeping peacefully in the crib that Yomi had provided. She wasn't going to ask where he was getting his things from. There was a good chance he was stealing them, if so she didn't want to know. They were placed next to the door, put aside for now.

"I have brought somethings you might need for the child and yourself. Before you go through it, I wish to speak to you in private. Take a walk outside with me, the boys will be fine for the time being." Yomi walked back out knowing she'd follow him. There was a few things he wanted to discuss with her. Originally he'd told her that she could stay until he competed in the next tournament. Which was to be held in a year's time. Now, he wouldn't be entering the next one but the next if he could complete his new training.

Kagome slipped on her sandals before following him. The air was chilly, she hugged herself but didn't complain. Not a word was spoken until they got a good distance away. She had a feeling she was about to learn where he'd been for the last two weeks. It wasn't her place to complain about his absence, so she wouldn't. "What did you want to talk about?"

"Do you realize what you did when you healed the wound Shura gave me?" He turned to her, leaving only a few inches between them. His head tilted down leaving her to gaze up at him. First he wanted to know if she was aware of what had occured. Did she mean to do it or had it been a side effect?

"Um, I think I healed the cut he gave you. I also took your shirt off and cleaned you up. Was I not suppose to look at your naked chest or something?" Kagome gnawed on her bottom lip, she was becoming nervous. Was he about to tell her she'd caused him to go deaf or something?

"You shouldn't chew on your mouth, would be a shame to marr such beautiful lips." He waited for his compliment to sink in. Instead of commenting she stopped doing so and sighed. Was she even listening to him, "Are you paying attention to me Kagome?"

"Yes, I heard you." She wasn't stupid, so he was trying to flatter her. They both knew he couldn't see what her damn mouth looked like. If he was going for fake flattering, next time he should try saying she smelled nice. Who would have thought he'd suck so bad at seducing a woman. Was he trying to seduce her or trying to get her to feel good about herself before tearing into her about her miserable healing capabilities? If she fucked something up it hadn't been intentional. "Next time, try a better line. We both know you couldn't see an elephant's ass if where two feet in front of your face."

"You're right, I couldn't. Stop looking at the ground and look at me." He opened his eyes ignoring the slight pain that still occupanied the motion. His vision was still slightly off but he could see her almost clearly. He watched her head slowly raise then her blue eyes focused on his.

"Holy hell, you opened your eyes." She waved her hands in front of his face. When he didn't move or indicate that he saw, she gave him the bird. His fingers closed around the small digit. The scowl made her smirk, had he seen that? "Keh, so can you see now?" Is that what that comment had been trying to imply? She smiled at his positive nod, "Really? Wait, then why did you yell at me that night? You should have been thankful not be an ass about it. Then again if you prefer being blind, yell at me like that again. I'll have no problem poking them back out."

He chuckled as her temper began to rise. "You do amuse me, my little insane kitten. I was in a state of shock and didn't mean to frighten you." She bristled under the nickname, her hand came out to slap him in the stomach. "You need to train harder if you expect that to hurt. I am very thankful to you for returning my light. But it does leave me with a problem now. My senses are off due to new use of my eyes. I won't be able to compete in this tournament. So I will be staying here three more years than I had originally planned. You and Shippo are welcome to stay as our prior agreement. It will stand if you answer one question for me."

"What?" Kagome couldn't believe her luck. She'd have a place to stay for another three years. As sad as it sounded this place was home to her now. No one bothered them and she was safe from prying eyes. What did he want to know? Was he wanting to come to a different agreement? Was he wanting more from her?

"Why did you tell Yusuke that the child wasn't his?" His senses picked up on several changes at once. Her heartbeat sped up, her temperature dropped a degree, her face turn ashen, and her aura spiked. So she was hiding something from everyone. If she was to stay then he would demand the truth from her. "The truth Kagome."

"Okay, alright. We met that one night, I found his mother drunk on the street. I managed to get her home and that's when I met Yusuke. We ended up in bed later that evening and I left the next morning. I didn't see him again until the day I returned. He found out I was pregnant and he was going to tell his wife. I heard him talking to one of his friends, it became clear that it would ruin his marriage. I didn't want to cause problems between them when it was just a one night stand. I refuse to be a burden anymore. He didn't want the child to begin with nor me, so I took matters into my own hands. I figured it was better this way. You don't have to understand, it's my problem."

"Really, Kurama sounded like he was still slightly upset over the fact that you had lied to Yusuke. I can assure you that they will be upset when they learn the truth. He will learn of it eventually you know, your child is a descendant of Raizen himself as is Yusuke. As soon as it gets out, word will reach Hiei. Who will no doubt speak to Kurama and Yusuke on the matter. I don't know Yurameshi that well but Kurama use to be one to hold a grudge and Hiei isn't what I would call friendly. You might find yourself in quiet a mess." Yomi knew that she was lucky that the hybrid staying with Mukuro hadn't picked up on the child yet. Not many babes were born already a class A youkai. "He may demand his child, you will be lucky if he doesn't try to kill you. If I was in his place, I would take your head."

"So, let him try to take my child. He will die then along with his friends. Lydon is my child, I was the one that carried him not to mention went through the pain of birthing him. The only way he'd get him would be over my dead body. Doesn't matter how strong he is, he'll turn to ash just like all the others." Kagome knew she was wrong by lying but what other choice did she have? If she'd stayed countless people's lives would have been destroyed. Her and Lydon could make it on their own. She'd raise him the best she knew how. Yusuke and Keiko would have kids on their own one day if they weren't already working on it. "If they find out and try to find me, I will leave if that is your concern. I won't bring my problems to you."

"Nonsense, you will stay with me. I don't owe Kurama or his friends anything. Besides I prefer your annoying company over theirs. As long as you are at my side, you are under my protection. Besides, Kurama was the one that was partially responsible for taking away my sight. You have corrected the wrong done to me. I may have forgiven him for the betrayal but one can never forget. As long as you are in the Makai, you will have my protection." He watched the many emotions crossing her face.

"I guess I should thank you but I don't understand why you would even bother. You've already done so much by putting up with me and Shippo. Now, there's also the baby to consider." Kagome felt a little better knowing that Yomi wouldn't turn her in. It would mean he was willing to take a chance at having the others angry at him also. He hardly knew her and was promising to protect her but wouldn't that make her a burden to him also. "I don't want to be a burden to you."

"I don't consider you a burden, I consider you mine." He grabbed her chin lightly forcing her to look at him. He could hear her pulse speed up, confusion and excitement rolled off her. Would she protest to his statement or try to correct his wording? When several seconds passed and she didn't speak he took his chances. He leaned over bringing his mouth down to meet hers. Their lips met, testing the waters. Would she accept his advances or push him away?

Kagome closed her eyes unsure of how to proceed. His lips lingered over hers, merely teasing, trying to get a reaction. She knew that this was the moment of truth. If she let it continue and allowed this to happen he would want more. Was she ready to have a relationship with another man? Her body was craving attention, her hormones wanted this. Her mind demanded that she forget about everyone else. That this man had taken her in and seemed to care for her. She wouldn't fool herself and believe in love again. Doing so would only lead to more heartache and empty nights. She wouldn't listen to her foolish heart anymore. Her mind said to accept what she could find in life, her body was growing excited at the possibilities. On it's own her body leaned forward closing the distance between them. He took it as her approval then claimed her mouth.

Yomi felt her give in, it was enough for him. He tasted her, running his tongue over the soft pink lips. Knowing what he wanted they parted granting him access. She was shy in responding, letting him dominate the kiss. He prefered it that way, her inexperience enticed him. Her tongue mocked his, meeting him halfway. He placed his hand on her back, she moaned when she came in contact with proof of his desire. Her scent spiked filled with arousal and fear. The latter made him pick up his head, "How many men have you been with?"

Kagome answered her mind foggy with the sensations he was causing. "Just Yusuke, why?" Disappointment filled her, he already knew about him so why was he asking? 'Why do you think stupid? There's no telling how old he is. He's probably use to having his women experienced, that know what they are doing.' She scolded herself for caring. She couldn't help it if she wasn't the town whore. The kiss had been very nice to her, had he found it lacking in someway? Before he could answer her they both heard crying coming from inside. "Lydon is up, I have to get inside."

"So you and Yukina finally settled on a date?" Yusuke leaned back in his chair looking at the cards in his hand. Genkai picked up another card across from him. His ears picked up the sounds of the females outside gossiping like a bunch of high school chicks. He didn't want to think on his own marriage at the moment. It was bad enough he often found himself thinking about Kagome. A part of him was pissed that he was giving up on his dreams to make up for the mistake he had made. He'd gotten a backbone and told Keiko the truth. She'd almost left him upon hearing of his little fling before their wedding. Instead he had said he'd do anything to keep her, him giving up fighting had been the price.

No more tournaments, no more punching someone when he was having a bad day. He was definitely having a bad day now, not to mention Kuwabara's cocky grin was begining to get on his nerves. Kurama was trying to help him get through the adjustment. Yusuke didn't know anything else but fighting, it was becoming hard to keep his promise.

"Yep, finally going to get married. I'm a little worried about the whole youkai and human mating thing but we can work through it." Kuwabara drew a card after Genkai laid down hers. "I can't wait to get my sweet Yukina alone."

"Shut up you fool," Hiei spoke from his seat. He wasn't playing cards but was sitting at the table with the four. "She will be making a mistake by lowering herself to mate with a human. Not to mention looking as foolish as Yomi did, prancing around the Makai with his human bitch."

"Are you serious Hiei? Where did you hear that?" Kurama looked up from his hand, his attention peaked. Is that what Yomi had been speaking about? He couldn't imagine the man taking a liking to a human. He'd always seen them as insignifacant creatures, unworthy of living. What would make him change his mind?

"I didn't hear anything. I saw them myself, I don't listen to idle gossip Kurama. There was no mistaking him nor the fact that the woman was human. The only reason that I didn't snatch her and send her back to the Ningenkai where she belonged was the fact that she was breeding. My guess is that Yomi has himself a human lover. Why else would he let her walk beside him and not behind? Don't question my judgement." Hiei scowled at the fox, wanting him to argue.

"I'm not Hiei, calm down. I just find it hard to believe that Yomi would take interest in a human that's all. I agree actually, you are correct in your points. If he allowed her to be seen with him and she was walking with him then she must be of great importance to him." Kurama starting putting somethings together and continued. "Yomi actually came to see me not long ago. At first he asked about Yusuke, then spoke of the tournament. He made mention of a female then, I guess he wasn't just pulling my leg."

"Smile all you want, he's making a mistake. She may have been beautiful for a human but the child will still have her taint. Whatever made Yomi want to bed a miko is beyond even my reasoning." Hiei folded his arms, trying to figure out why Kurama was staring at him. Not to mention Yusuke had just dropped his cards exposing his hand to everyone at the table.

"Are you absolutely certain the girl was a miko Hiei? Please I'm not trying to question your judgement, this is important. Can you describe the girl for us?" Kurama placed his hand down, the game over for now. Genkai folded her hand getting into the conversation now. It wasn't everyday that you heard of one of the Makai kings mating with a miko.

"Hmph, it's been a few months but yes. She was probably an inch taller than myself, very small. Long black hair, some bangs in her face. Slim legs, round thighs, little more than average breasts and a slim waist still. Very pleasant face, small features, large blue eyes and a lush mouth." Hiei saw Genkai start to snicker at his description.

"He asked you to describe the girl not your personal fantasy." Genkai placed the cards down finally, they weren't going to finish the game tonight.

"Kurama?" Yusuke glanced at the fox unsure of what to do. Part of him wanted to run to the Makai to make sure that it wasn't Kagome. If it was he didn't care if Keiko got angry, there was no way he was going to let her stay there. She would be in danger, from youkai and Yomi. He didn't care if Hiei said she was Yomi's lover. He'd kill that blind bastard before he let him touch Kagome.

"Calm down Yusuke, Hiei can you tell us did she have a fox cub with her? He would have been either in her arms or shoulders more than likely." Kurama had seen enough to know that Kagome wouldn't go anywhere without her adopted son.

"No, I only saw the two of them that day." Hiei saw that this helped their deamanor some. "Why are you two so uptight? Why get all worked up over Yomi's woman?"

"It's complicated but to make sure it is nothing I'm going to go speak to Koenma." Kurama got up excusing himself from the table. Kuwabara complained about not finishing the game while they were winning. "I'll take care of it Yusuke, there is no need for you to involve yourself anymore."

"Fuck you Kurama, I'm going with you. I need to know that she's okay and I'm not going to leave there until I've seen that she's there myself." Yusuke yelled at the fox, not caring at the looks he was receiving. He had to see her for himself or he wouldn't be able to believe it. He had taken Koenma's word for months that she was being taken care of. It didn't matter if the child wasn't his, he still cared.

"YUSUKE!" Keiko stood in the doorway, her hands fisted at her sides. She willed herself not to hit him, she didn't have to hear all the conversation to know who he wanted to check on. He had told her everything and she was trying to get past it. She knew they had their problems, like every couple did. "So you can't just let Kurama go, do you have to see her for yourself. Isn't his word good enough, if he's allowed to speak to her?"

"Keiko!" He didn't know what to say. It wasn't like he didn't trust Kurama, he just had to see her for himself. He'd been fighting the need for months, now it was even more intense. "Alright but don't you leave there without speaking to her yourself."

"Of course, I'm sorry Keiko. It's just that if she is indeed in the Makai the girl can be in serious danger." Kurama tried to help his friend some before taking off. "We are merely concerned for her safety and that of her child." He saw her shoulders relax some, wanting to believe his words. "I'll return as soon as I can."

A/N: Wanted to point out that I had Yomi say that Kagome gave him back his light, this wasn't a typo. In the series he told Kurama that was how he described it. I really did try to edit. Hope you enjoy!
