Wandering Thoughts

“Inuyasha are you all right?”

“I’m fine Kagome.”

“You sure? Usually by now you’d be getting on my case about not having made your ramen yet.”

“I told you Kagome I’m fine. I’m just a little tired and need to sleep.” Inuyasha said, rolled over and went back to sleep.

Kagome frowned at the lack of response from Inuyasha. She looked at everyone hoping to see if any of them know what’s bothering him. All she received were the shrugs of shoulders.

“He’s probably just tired Kagome. He was restless last night and didn’t get enough sleep.” Said Shrugen

“Still.”

“I’m sure he’ll be fine Kagome. Just give him a little while and he’ll be back to his old grumpy self in no time.” Said Sango

“Yeah you’re probably right Sango.”

Unfortunately Inuyasha would not get his rest. Just as Kagome finished talking she sensed two jewel shards off in the distance and approaching rapidly.

“Guys I’m sensing two jewel shards and their coming at us very fast.”

“Oh no.” groaned Inuyasha “Don’t tell me. Its-”

“Hello, mutt face!”

“Koga.”

Koga was bending over Inuyasha form a look of disgust on his face. “What’s wrong Inuyasha? Life on the road getting to hard for you?” He said mockingly

“Why are you here Koga?” Inuyasha said ignoring his criticism

“I’m here to check up on my woman of course. You know for someone who is supposed to protect her you’re not putting on a very good impression right now.”

“Protect her yourself. I’m done being her guard dog.”

“Finally realized who your betters are eh?”

Inuyasha couldn’t take it any more He jumped to his feet; fists clenched just waiting to strike.

“That’s it wolf! Say one more word and ill take that sword of yours and shove it up your-”

“Inuyasha! SIT!”

Stepping over Inuyashas fallen body, Koga walked up to Kagome and clasped both her hand in his.

“Kagome it’s so good to see you again. You don’t know how hard it is to stay away from you for so long.”

“Hello Koga. It’s…uh, good to see you too.”

Just then they herd Inuyasha groan. “Damn it Kagome.” He said as he got up. “Just let me-”

“I said SIT BOY.” And Inuyasha went crashing down again. Looking back at Koga neither of them noticed Shrugen attempting to hold back Sango from pulverizing Kagome.

“So how have you been Koga?”

“I’m doing better now that I’m with you Kagome. I see you have a new addition to you group. And a half breed no less. I swear Kagome you seem to attract these creatures.”

“Koga that’s Shrugen, Inuyashas guardian.”

Koga laughed at hearing this. “Figures. The protector is so weak he needs someone to protect him!”

“Oh he doesn’t need me to protect him; he’s fine on his own. What I really do is train him.”

“What to fight? Without his precious sword he’s useless.”

“Not any more. I bet he could kick your ass right now if he wanted to.”

“Oh really? Let’s see if he can then. So Inuyasha what do you say? Wanna see who the better fighter is?”

“If it means beating you to a bloody pulp, I’m all for it.”

“Alright but lets add a little spice to this match. If I win you have to call me Lord Koga when ever I’m around.”

“Same goes if I win.”

“Deal.”

“Hey wait a minute! I don’t want you two fighting!” said Kagome

“Relax Kagome; I won’t hurt Inuyasha too bad.”

“Why you little-”

“Okay.” Said Shrugen stepping up. “Here are the rules. No swords, just your fists and feet and claws if you choose to use them. No killing each other. First one to knock the other unconscious wins.”

Both Inuyasha and Koga removed their sword and handed them to Shrugen.

“All right then on my mark. Ready…Set…Go!”

As soon as Shrugen said go Koga attacked Inuyasha head on hoping to lad the first blow. His fist struck only air. Inuyasha evaded the attack countered with an uppercut to Kogas jaw. Koga stumbled back slightly stunned. (He’s faster than I remembered. No matter I’m still the fastest.) Using the jewel shards in his legs, Koga attacked again with another punch. Inuyasha evaded but was struck in the back by one of Kogas legs, which sent him to the ground on his hands and knees, and a kick to the ribs sent him sprawling. Koga then leapt up into the air and landed a kick on Inuyashas chest.

“Is that all you got Inuyasha? With the bullshit your guardian said, I expected better.” He said look down at him.

With a growl, Inuyasha grabbed Kogas feet and flung him off of his chest. With a flip in the air Koga landed on his feet and taking advantage of Inuyashas injured state he attacked again. Just as he reached Inuyasha he was met with a double kick to his face which sent him sliding on his back. As Inuyasha go up He could tell something had changed. His eyes were red and he had purple stripes on his face.

“Oh no! Inuyashas transformed!” Kagome said “See what your stupid duel did? Koga get out of there or he’ll kill you!”

“Please, he couldn’t if he tried.”

“You stupid idiot! Inuyasha SI- mmph!” Before Kagome could finish Shrugen covered her mouth. Pulling at his hand he released her mouth and she glared at him.

“Shrugen are you insane!?” she yelled “I need to snap him out of his transformation before he kills Koga!”

“Relax Kagome; Inuyasha knows what he’s doing. He just transformed so he could stand a chance at catching Koga.”

“He… he transformed willingly?!? That jerk! He knows I hate that form.”

“Oh shut up both of you and watch the fight!” Sango interrupted.

Inuyasha had just caught one of Kogas legs and slammed him into the ground and still clutching his leg, picked him up and slammed him into the ground again. As Inuyahsa was going for a third time, Koga kicked off, breaking Inuyashas grip on him and rocketing him into the air. (Perfect.) Thought Koga. (He can’t get me up here and I can gather enough speed to knock him out.) Targeting Inuyasha he began his decent, hoping to knock out Inuyasha with his shard kick. What he didn’t expect is Inuyasha to jump up and intercept him half way. Catching Koga off guard, Inuyasha punched Koga in the back accelerating his fall to the ground. Shortly after Koga crashed into the ground, Inuyasha landed atop him feet first on his gut. After making sure he was unconscious Inuyasha got off him and made his way back to the group.

“And we have our winner!” Said Shrugen and headed over to meet Inuyasha, followed by Sango, Shippo, Miroku and a hesitant Kagome.

“Well done Inuyasha. Oh and Miroku, you owe me twenty yen.”

*Grumble* “Here.”

“Wow Inuyasha!” Said Shippo as he jumped atop his head. “That was amazing! I didn’t know you could transform at will.”

“How long does your full demon transformation last?” Sango asked

“It can last as long as I want it to. Watch.”
Inuyahsa closed his eyes and focused on his heartbeat willing it to slow. After a little effort his purple stripes disappeared and as he opened his eyes they could see the redness fade.

“That’s amazing Inuyasha. Truth be told, I would have never thought that you could be in control when you become a full demon.”

“Well, with Shrugens training I can be in control for a limited amount of time. For now I can only remain in control for about half an hour, but if I continue practicing I could eventually maintain being a full demon for a few days.”

“Well I hope your happy Inuyasha. You roughed Koga up pretty bad. He might have to stay with us until he heals.”

“He’s taken a lot worse hits and managed to walk away on his own two feet, and yes I am happy. I’ve wanted to do that to him for quite a while.”

*Groan* “What hit me?”

“Koga! How are you feeling?” Kagome said as she ran to his side

“Like a mountain fell on me. How long was I out?”

“Not long. Only a few minutes. Inuyasha beat you up pretty bad, are you going to be ok?”

“Inuyasha…? Damn!” he said getting up. “You cheated Inuyasha! You can’t transform! It wasn’t a fair fight.”

“I didn’t cheat. Rules said no weapons. Didn’t say I couldn’t use my full demon powers. Besides with the jewel shards in your legs it really wasn’t a fair fight to begin with.”

“Inuyasha, you bastard!”

“That’s Lord Inuyasha you jackass.”

“Inuyasha, SIT BOY! Come on Koga well get you to Kaedes and see to your wounds.” Kagome said putting one of his arms over her shoulders.

“Here let me help you Kagome.” Miroku said

*Sigh* “You know the more I’m around her the less I like her.” Said Shrugen

“She’s like this whenever Inuyasha and Koga are around each other.” Sango said as she helped Inuyasha up. “Personally I think she likes it when they fight over her.”

“I’m not surprised.”
“Yeah well from now on, Kagome’s on her own when it comes to Koga. I warned her about him, whether or not she’ll heed my warnings is up to her.”

“Well, we’ll find out sooner or later. For now, let’s just give her some space.”

“I agree. I may be tough, but my neck is starting to get sore from all those sits.”

“Hey guys.” Said Shippo “If Kagome is at Kaedes, what are we going to do for lunch?”

“Hmmm. You know I completely forgot about that. Any ideas Shippo?” Inuyasha asked

Shippo thought for a little bit then came up with an idea. “How about fish? There’s a river nearby that’s sure to have fish in it.” Both Inuyasha and Shrugen thought it over and nodded there heads in agreement.

“Yeah that sounds good. Sango what do you think?”

“…”

“Sango?”

Inuyasha turned around and saw Sango a few feet away and looked to be deep in a day dream, eyes staring off into the distance and small smile upon her lips.

“Shippo why don’t you show me where the river is. We can start preparing for lunch.” Shrugen said and both he and Shippo went into the forest leaving Inuyasha and Sango alone.

With a sly grin, Inuyasha slowly crept up behind Sango and gently slipped his hands around her waist and whispered in her ear. “Something on your mind?”

Snapped out of her daydream, Sango whipped around to meet her assailant ready to slap him, (assuming it was that lecherous monk of course) but halted when she saw it was Inuyasha.

“I could’ve really hurt you, you know.” She said with a smirk

“It was worth the risk.” He replied as he lowered his hands to caress her rear.

“I think I understand why Miroku enjoyed doing this. Soft yet firm and very well rounded. Yep well worth the risk.”

Sango giggled and wrapped her arms around his neck and brought his head down and kissed him. Inuyasha brought his hands up to her back and after the kiss held her close to his chest.

“You never answered my question Sango” he said after a few moments. “What’s on your mind?”

“Oh nothing much. Just wondering what our future might look like.”

“Oh? And what did you see in our future?”

“A house in the forest, several children playing outside as you chop firewood, no worries about fighting powerful demons and avenging wrongful deaths. Just a simple life with you and me.”

“Sounds nice. I’m looking forward to that future. Care to get a head start on it?”

“Inuyasha, you little sex hound!”

“Hey I’m not hearing a no.” Just then they both heard a thunderous growl emit from Inuyashas stomach.

*Giggle* “There’s your no.”

“Traitor.” Inuyasha said staring down at his gut.

“Come on lets get you something to eat. Where did Shrugen and Shippo go to?”

Inuyasha brought Sango to a nearby river and found Shippo already in the water trying to catch fish and Shrugen on the bank of the river reading. Judging by the look on Shippo’s face he was not having much luck.

“Need some help there Shippo?” Said Inuyasha and he removed his haori and waded into the river.

“Yeah, these fish are fast.” He said as he pownced on another fish, only to have it zip away.

“Here try doing it like this.” He said and crouched down. After a few moments his hand slashed through the water and flung a fish onto the beach.

“Wow! How did you do that?”

“Simple, just stand like your about to jump someone below you and wait. Once you see a fish in you line of sight attack it with you claws as fast as you can and knock it up on the beach.”

Following his instructions Shippo waited for the right time to strike. A moment later he slashed throught the water and knocked a fish onto the beach.

“Well done Shippo.” Inuyasha said and toussled his hair.

“Hey Sango! How many fish do you want?” holered

“I’ll have three.” Sango holered back.

“What about you Shrugen?” His only reply was Shrugen holding up four fingers.

“Ok Shippo we need-Ack!”

Just as Inuasha turned to speak to Shippo he got a faceful of cold water, with Shippo laughing at him.

“Oh you wanna fight huh?” Inuyasha splashed water at Shippo, soaking his clothes.

“Kids.” Sango said and rolled her eyes as Inuyasha and Shippo continued flinging water at eachother. Unknown to her, they had heard what she said and sought to get her in on the action.

“Inuyasha what are you-? Oh no, no no no.” was all she said as they both advanced on her. Backing up she didn’t realize Shrugen was behind her and was suprized when he pushed her into Shippo and Inuyasha, knocking all three into the water. Sputtering she glared at Shrugen until a splash of water hit her in the back of the head. And so began the water wars.

Two hours later Sango,Shippo and Inuyasha laying on the beach soaked and tired but full of fish. Resting, Shippo lay near the fire to dry, Sango lay upagainst a tree and Inuyasha was laying down, his head on Sangos lap. Shrugen sat leaning against a tree, nose in a book. Unbeknownst to them, they were being watched from the moment they got to the river. Miroku had been sent out to find some herbs that would help numb Kogas wounds when he saw them at the river.

(What is going on?) Miroku thought. (Inuyasha and Shippo act nice twards eachother, Sango lets Inuyasha lay his head on her lap? If I didn’t know any better I’d say Inuyasha and Sango were in love. But I thought Inuyasha was in love with Kagome, and Sango with me. Was I mistaken? No I couldn’t be. The looks on thir faces though, the look of peace and contentment, tells me otherwise. Sango… I am glad you have found someone, even if its not me. Inuyasha, you a lucky bastard, treat her well.) Gathering the herbs Miroku quietly moved away from their camp and went back to Kaedes.
