Kitsune Tails

Laughter, a child’s laughter. That was the first thing that registered in Kagomes mind. She was somewhere warm. There was a breeze and she could smell water. There were people, lots of people. They were talking. She couldn’t distinguish exactly what they where saying it all sounded like mumbleling.

Then one person’s voice rose above the others. Never in a thousand years could she mistake that voice. It was him and he sounded close to her. He was talking to someone. His voice stopped as soft footsteps approached her. He was kneeling beside her. His presence calmed her to no end.

It almost made her want to go back to sleep. The sunshine was warming her skin, the laughter of children rang in the air. The fresh scent of flowers was every where, and she could feel the presence of the one she loved next to her.

She was almost afraid to open her eyes afraid that when she did none of it would be there. That is until he reached out and stroked the side of her face with his gentle hand. That was all the assurance she needed. Her eyes flickered open to look at the eyes of her love. His golden eyes that seemed to go straight through her to her very soul. She smiled as she began to take in everything around her. Countless villagers and their families were embracing each other.

Children were running and playing and laughing. Then she saw her friends. Miroku and Sango were embracing each other as she introduced him to her family. And for once Miroku was behaving himself. Shippo was playing with some off the village children. And Chibi was in the arms of her mother who was talking to....to....to KOGA?

"Hey Inu yasha what’s going on?" she asked as he helped her to her feet.

"Well I guess when Midoriko brought everyone back to life she brought them all to
one place which is a good thing considering most of their bodies are under ground
and....." Inu yasha was cut off by Kagome.

"No not that, THAT!" she said as she pointed to Sakura and Koga who seemed to be
a little to cozy considering Sakura was the one to kill him.

"Oh that, yeah well those two have really been hitting it off. I think they like each
other" Inu yasha laughed.

Kagome sighed. 'Oh well better her than me' It was then that everyone noticed that
she was awake. She was practically trampled by two kitsune cubs, a cat demon, a
monk, and a demon slayer.

"Kagome mama!" Shippo and Chibi cried out practically at the same time as they
attached themselves to her legs.

Kirara was untransformed and rubbing on her leg, and she was embraced by Miroku
and Sango.


" Kagome you did it! You defeated Naraku and saved us all!" Sango cried into her
best friends shoulder.

"We all did it........" she replied modestly.

When she finally managed to escape the grasp of her friends she was once again
captured by someone else's arms. But she didn’t want to escape these arms. These
where the arms that had held her when she cried, the arms that had protected her.

"Kagome you may want to look in the water" Inu yasha whispered into her ear as he
let her go. All the villagers stood quite. Even the children stood still as she walked to
the waters edge. Everyone other than her friends were speechless, they had no
idea how to thank this girl that they had never met before for saving all of their
lives. She could have had everything yet she chose to give them back their lives.
They would never be able to thank her enough.

Kagome was a little uneasy about the silence. As she walked threw, the crowd of
people split apart giving her a straight path to the water the silence was broken by
a little girl with short black hair with big brown eyes who stood in rags by her family
as she began to clap. She was the first of many as everyone else caught on. Soon the whole clearing was filled with clapping as she proceeded with a smile to the
water. The applause stopped as she reached the waters edge. As she peered into
the water she could barley believe her eyes.

Settled on the top of her head was a pair of her very own doggy ears. They looked almost identical to Inu yasha's only they were black. She reached her hands up to touch them to make sure they were real. Just as her fingers touched the tips they began to twitch. THEY WERE REAL! She turned around to see Inu yasha smiling. She was a hanyou just like him.

Tears welled up in her eyes as she flung herself into his arms and began to laugh.
'If Im dreaming I pray that I never wake up' she thought as she covered Inu yasha's face with soft kisses. He held her tightly as he swung her around a few times, making her kimono flare up a little bit.He looked into her eyes as he set her down and smiled a smile of true happiness before closing the gap between them and bringing his lips down to meet hers in a deep and passionate kiss.

The applause started up again as everyone encircled the two lovers. Sango stared on in pure envious awe, that is, until Miroku embraced her close to his heart and gave her a kiss that took her breath away.

Sakura refused to be out done and grabbed Koga by the arms and gave him a deep kiss. Koga was so shocked that when she pulled back he just stood there and stared off into space in complete shock. It was when the great demon began to giggle and blush like a giddy school girl that a devilish grin spread across his face as he grabbed her around the waist and leaned her back so that he was standing over her supporting her and returned the kiss.

"Ewww that is so gross" Shippo said as he stuck out his tongue at the lovey dovey
couples.

"I don’t think its so bad" Chibi said as she closed the space between her and Shippo
and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.

A deep blush came across her cheeks as mimicked her mothers giggling. Shippo
blushed from head to foot as he gulped loudly and fainted from the combined shock
and embarrassment.

Inu yasha and Kagome broke their kiss long enough to look into each others eyes.

"I love you Kagome" He said as he planted another kiss on her lips.

"And I love you too silly puppy." she said. And for once they were both content with
their lives.

After the reunion, a feast was held in honor of the shard hunters. It took place right
by the lake in the same clearing Naraku was destroyed in. There was music and
dancing. Kohaku Shippo and Chibi played games with the other children, while Miroku
was discussing something with Sango's father.

Kagome had to practically drag Inu yasha out to the dance floor by his rosary, but when he finally got out there he found he liked this dancing thing. Especially the being close to Kagome part. Before the party started Kirara was sent to fetch Keade, it only seemed fair that she should be a guest of honor too, considering all the sorrow the jewel had caused her.

She looked on in awe as the hanyou couple became the center of attention on the dance floor. After the kissing frenzy Sakura had asked Kagome and Inu yasha to become Chibi's god parents. Kagome and Inu yasha willingly agreed, even if he wouldn’t willingly admit it out loud, Chibi had found a place in his heart. Chibi was so happy as she told everyone that she now had two mommy’s and daddy’s. Kagome was a little confused, that is until she saw Sakura and Koga slipping off together about an hour ago. She sighed she didn’t even want to think about what they were doing right now.

The whole clearing was lit by the light of the full moon and the lanterns of every color you could imagine. Kagome was to into Inu yasha to notice a certain three children that were missing and something of hers as well.

Chibi, Shippo, and Kohaku snuck off into the bushes.

"I don’t think this is such a good idea Chibi." Kohaku whispered to his new friend.

"Yeah Chibi Kagome momma might get mad at us" Shippo said nervously as he
watched Chibi dig through Kagomes bag. She was looking for something called a see
dee player, and speek-ers.

"Boys" she sighed, as she continued to plow through the large yellow bag.

"Trust me, this music is boring. Kagome momma will like this music much better" she
said as she pulled out a battery operated radio boom box with a cd player.

"Gotcha “she said with a gleam in her eyes. As she pulled out a little disk and put it
into the box thing.

"Chibi are you sure you know how to........" Kohaku was cut off by a loud sound
coming from the boom box.

"This is music?" he yelled as he covered his ears.

Everyone in the clearing just about died of shock. Never before had they heard such a sound. It sounded like a human girl but how could any human be that loud. Kagome and Inu yasha stopped dancing long enough to assure them that everything was ok. Kagome knew the source. And their names were Chibi, Shippo, and Kohaku. She sighed and rolled her eyes as she got a wonderfully evil idea.
Inu yasha was shocked when Kagome turned away from him and placed his arms around her hips as she swayed back and forth to this so called 'music'.

Inu yasha wasn’t sure what to make of this noise but he sure did like the way it made Kagome dance as she grinded her body against his.

The rest of the village girls didn’t appreciate the looks their dance partners were
giving Kagome. So they took things into their own hands, and mimicked Kagomes
moves. Sango and Miroku were just winging it.

That is until Sango decided to try that body grinding move, which was really getting
to Miroku

Then Kagome pulled a bold move. She swung around and grabbed onto Inu yasha's
hand and rolled her body all the way to the ground. She had been to a few school
dances and she had seen some of the popular girls do this with their dates, but she
had never done it before. She knew you couldn’t do it unless you trusted your
partner because if you didn’t you’d end up on the floor. She knew that she could
trust Inu yasha with her life, so this should be a synch.

Inu yasha found himself to be mesmerized by her body movements; he couldn’t divert his gaze from her body as she rolled it backwards until she was only a few inches from the ground. It was when she was rolling her body back up that Inu yasha got an idea of his own. Inu yasha pulled her up quickly and with the hand that held her to spin her like a dancer in a ballet. Kagomes black raven hair flailed out like a beautiful Japanese fan, he then tugged her back to his body in one quick movement so that there chests were touching.

Miroku held Sango by the waist as she continued to grind against his body. Kohaku and Shippo took turns spinning Chibi, until the point she felt faint from the dizziness. Shippo caught her in his arms just before she hit the ground.
Kohaku slipped off while the two kitsunes were busy to go find a certain little girl who had got his attention earlier, namely a little girl with short black hair and big brown eyes.

When Koga and Sakura returned they looked to be out of breath and their clothing was sloppy as if they had gotten dressed in the dark. They soon got into the swing of this new music and soon were dancing along with everyone else.

Mostly everyone was dancing, but those who weren’t were encircling the Hanyou lovers who were performing quite the show as they danced in the center of the dance floor.

By the time the song had ended everyone was exhausted. Some of the village girls were a little embarrassed at their actions. The next song that came on was much slower, for this everyone was very grateful. It again was the voice of a young woman. It was soft, which was a relief to Inu yasha's sensitive ears. He had enjoyed the previous song, but this one was easier on his canine ears.
Kagome wrapped her arms around Inu yasha's neck as Vanessa Carlton’s A Thousand Miles played on her boom box.

A thousand miles? Try a thousand years.
She rested her head on Inu yasha's shoulder as he wrapped his arms around her slender waist. He rested his chin on the top of her head, inhaling her sweet scent as they swayed back and fourth to the song. Inu yasha wasn’t even paying attention to the music, all he cared about was the young girl in his arms.

The girl that had showed him what it is to be truly loved. She had shown him friendship and compassion. But most importantly trust something that he and Kikyo never had. She wanted him for himself, not the human he could be. Kikyo wanted him to become a human. Kagome wanted him to be himself, that was one of the reasons he loved her so much.

Kagome sighed in contentment as she realized the full effects of her wish. She and Inu yasha would live together until the day that they died, and who knows when that would be. The thought of being with Inu yasha for the next thousand years sounded very appealing. She drifted off into deep thought as she swayed to and fro.

Sango and Miroku had slipped away from the party, because Miroku had insisted that they needed to talk.

"Miroku what is this all about" Sango asked as Miroku stopped right by an old oak
tree on the opposite shore of the party.

"Sango there is something that I must ask you but before I do you must promise to
listen to all I have to say before you make your decision." he said as the moonlight
reflecting from the lake danced across his facial features to reveal a soft smile.

"Miroku what are you going on about?" Sango asked with a smile of her own tugging
at her lips.

"Sango I........ I...... love you." he said as he held her hands in his. Her eyes began
to mist over at this sudden confession of his feelings.

" I think that I have loved you for a while now. It just took me dying for me to get it
through my thick skull." he said as she giggled and let a few tears fall.

" I still remember the last thing that went through my mind before I died, and it was
you. Sango you are the most important thing in my life. I’ve already asked your
father’s permission and he gave me his blessing, and now I will ask you" he said as
he kneeled before her. Sango no longer tried to contain her tears.

"Sango, my dearest, my love, holder of my heart, I ask you to be my wife and the
bearer of my children. If you agree I promise to cherish you forever and always and
never shall I touch another woman again as long as I live". Now it was Mirokus turn
to get a little misty eyed. Sangos muffled sobs became uncontrolled cries as she
nodded her head 'yes'.

"Please, please, I need to hear you say it." he said as two tears rolled down his
cheeks.

"Yes Miroku, yes. I love you too and I would be honored to be your wife" she said
struggling to keep her voice from cracking. She threw her self into Mirokus arms as
she continued to cry into his robes. He held her in his arms as they watched the
lights across the lake glitter.

Sakura was glad to provide a show of lights with her kitsune magic. Bright lights
filled the sky, colors of blue, pink, green, white, gold, and every other color you
could think of. The lanterns were all extinguished, so that the brilliant lights in the
sky illuminated the feast.

Kagome had long since found her boom box and had turned
it off. The only sounds that could be heard were the explosions of the bright lights
as they appeared to bloom into flowers, their light sparkling down to the ground like rain. The villagers looked on in silence as they sat and watched the display with their loved ones.

Kagome sat in Inu yasha’s lap with his arms wrapped around her waist. All the village children chased the sparkles in an attempt to catch them before they disappeared. Sango and Miroku watched the display from their spot across the lake. Chibi sat on Koga's shoulders to get a better view of the sky. Shippo and Kohaku were playing with the other children.

Kagome closed her eyes and fell asleep to the steady rhythm of Inu yasha's breathing. The festival lasted all night. When morning came everyone was a little disappointed to leave. But in time, all of the villagers returned to their villages to rebuild their destroyed homes. Chibi said her goodbyes to everyone and left with her mother and Koga for the Northern lands. Kirara, Sango and Miroku left with Sango's village after getting Kagome to promise to be Sango's maid of honor. And of course Inu yasha would be the best man, Chibi would be the flower girl and Shippo and Kohaku would both be the ring bearers. Shippo, Inu yasha, Kagome and Keade were the last ones to leave.

Inu yasha carried Keade on his back to spare her old bones the trouble of walking. It
didn’t take long for all of them to reach the village. Kagome left Shippo with Keade telling him that she and Inu yasha had things to do. Kagome knew that she had to choose. Her decision had been made that morning. With the jewel gone it was only a matter of time before the well stopped working. She and Inu yasha jumped through the well to deliver the news to her family.

When they arrived in Kagomes time they found her mother to be the only one home, so she would have to be he one to break the bad news to the others.
Kagome's mother was saddened by the news, but she new it was for the best. Now that Kagome was a hanyou she didn’t belong in this time, she belonged with her true love in the past, otherwise she would never be happy. She gave her approval to the couple as they said their last good byes. Kagome promised that they would visit her again one day. Her mother watched her little girl disappear for the last time.

Two pairs of eyes watched from the bushes as she walked back to the house.

" That’s when the well was sealed" a feminine voice said.

" That was the last time you saw her wasn’t it?" a masculine voice added.

"What do you say we pay the old hag a visit?" the male voice continued.

"Sit" The feminine voice said casually as a loud thump echoed through out the
shrine.

"Ow what was that for woman!" An angry male hanyou asked.

"Because I love you silly puppy" The female hanyou replied.

"Come on Inu yasha lets give my mother that visit we promised." Kagome said as she
walked out of the bushes and toward the house followed by her mate.
