Sight Of The Blind

Chapter Six

Kagome sighed and dropped the barrier around the youkai. At least that was over, damn she needed a nice hot shower now. Her back stiffened when she heard the chanting begin. Seemed she wasn't going to get a break today.

"The jewel, she has the jewel."

"Give us the jewel."

"Kill her."

'Just great, how could I forget I'm in the youkai world now. This could prove to be interesting.' Her brow lifted in aggitation. If they wanted it they'd have to come get it. Her eyes widened as she lifted her head. Hundreds of them were coming for her. Let them come, she no longer needed someone to protect her. She let her aura rise, leaping from her skin. She concentrated on spiking her power, sending it out in waves.

Hiei jumped back, the girl would kill them all. Fools!

"What now?" Yusuke shouted.

"Get back, let them charge her if they want." Kurama moved out of range, he wasn't going to get purified.

The crowd stopped coming pausing to think better of rushing her. Yomi on the other hand decided to test if he was really binded to the girl. He took a step forward towards the power.

"Yomi don't." Kurama yelled out.

He didn't stop but kept going, he could feel her aura lapping around him. He smiled, Manzo had indeed done it. Without meaning to the man had just made the Ruler of the Makai even more powerful.

Kagome wasn't sure what to think all the other youkai were jumping back from her but Yomi kept coming forward. 'That's right that thing binded us somehow. Whatever that means. Guess it makes him immune to my powers. Great, what if he wants the jewel? If I can't hurt him, he could easily take it from me.' She took a step back unsure. He didn't have to kill her, in order to obtain it. The thought of it being ripped back out her side wasn't all too pleasant.

"You got to be kidding me." Hiei was almost to shocked to speak. The fool was immune to the power that was threatening to destroy every last youkai here.

Kagome started to get scared, now what should she do? She couldn't purify him and she didn't stand a chance hand to hand. Fuck it, she took off running. Her bare feet padded across the ground, she wasn't sure who or what was following her. Her thoughts on getting away from all the youkai.

An arm grabbed her around the waist and she began to struggle, her aura flared in defense. When they didn't let her go, she knew who held her. She brought her elbow behind her landing it in his side. He grunted at the impact but held on. "Stop struggling. I won't hurt you unless you force me." A hand fisted in her hair, bringing tears to her eyes. "Will you behave if I let you go?"

She nodded yes, without pulling her hair even more. She went slack in his arms, he placed her back on her feet. She spun slapping him across the face. "That's what you get for pulling my hair." Her eyes widened when he brought his hand up, she felt the sharp pain before her world went black.

"Ack, he killed her." Kuwabara started screaming.

"Fool, if she was dead he would be too." Hiei landed beside the fallen girl. "Did you have to hit her that hard?"

He brought his hand up to his stinging cheek. Truthfully he hadn't meant to hit her at all, it had been a reflex. Guilt filled him at seeing her laying on the ground. She looked frail and helpless, "She struck first."

"At least now we can take her back." Kurama went to pick the girl up. A hand stilled him, he looked up to see Yomi's hand.

"She won't be going anywhere."

"What?" Hiei demanded.

"Her life was no longer her own when the bind was placed, I will not let her return."

"You can't be serious." Yusuke said. "What the hell are you going to do?"

"Word has already spread that she is binded to me. If you take her back, she will be hunted not only for the jewel but by my enemies as well. They will kill her to get to me. I will take her back with me."

"You mean you will hold her prisoner." Hiei didn't like the idea.

"If need be, it will be for her own good. I will not die for some human girl. It will be for the best I assure you." Yomi bent down to pick her up. "Tell Koenma if he wants to discuss it he knows where to find me."


"I see." Koenma folded his arms. "This didn't turn out well at all. That girl doesn't need to be in the Makai. What kind of life can she have being held prisoner? But what can we do? He does have a point."

Kurama sat down on the desk. "There must be something we can do. Is there a way to break the binding?"

"I'm afraid not. They are stuck with each other. We can only hope things will work themselves out." Koenma started sucking on his pacifier. "She will just have to learn to live there. It's the hand fate has dealt her."
