The Birds and The Bees


Botan walked into Yukina's bedroom to find her and Rin going over some pictures. Rin looked at all the smiling faces, they were all friends. She noticed that in almost all the pictures Hiei was standing next to Yukina. Most of his postures, showed a protective nature. Once again she had that strange feeling in her stomach.

Botan called out, "I see you are showing Rin our album."

"Yes. Have you come to answer my questions?" Yukina put the book aside.

Rin folded her legs under her. She was wearing a pair of cotton shorts and a tshirt, clothes that Kagome had lent her. "Mind if I stay?"

"No, not at all. Where do I start?"

"The difference between males and females," Rin helped.

"Yes, thats a good place." She spent the next ten minutes explaining the anatomy differences.

"So all men have a penis?" Yukina asked.

"Yes, but they come in different sizes." Botan added.

"Really, Ayame didn't tell me that part." Rin stocked that new tidbit of info. She assumed they were all the same.

"Now, when two people have intercourse, or get laid as you called it. Their bodies join sort of."

"How so?" Yukina was definitely interested.

"Well the man places his privates in the womans." Botan groaned she couldn't believe she was doing this.

"Wouldn't that hurt?"

"Well, if the woman is a virgin it can hurt the first time but only briefly. It doesn't hurt as long as the woman wants it to happen." Botan wasn't sure how to explain desire or being horny. "When you are with a man sometimes he makes you feel things. Like a burning sensation in your lower abdomen. Thats called desire, it means your body desires that person. That it wants to mate with that male. Of course it isn't wise to always act on that alone. You can feel desire for several people. Only mate with someone you love or care about."

"So why does Keiko do it a lot?" Yukina asked.

"Well, if you are in love with the person you are doing it with, the experience can be really enjoyable." Botan saw Rin's questionable look. "Yes Rin?"

"You said something about a feeling in your stomach. What exactly does that entail?"

"Well, lets say a man was to touch you and you felt a sudden yearning or heat pool in your stomach it could be desire."

"Or gas." Yukina chirped.

"Um its not the same Yukina" Botan tried not to smile.

"Whats it mean when the make you feel queezy?" Rin asked.

"That means you like them in that special way. So who is it Rin? Who's the special guy?" Botan asked.

"No one, I was just curious thats all." She couldn't like him that way. That would be wrong. That would make her like Akita, trying to steal someone that didn't belong to her.

A knock sounded on the door, Kagome walked in. "I'm going for a walk, want to join me Rin?"

"Yes," She needed to get out of here before Botan questioned her more. Maybe she should ask Kagome about it. "Let me get some pants on first." She ran to their room and pulled on a pair of sweats. Kagome was waiting for her outside, looking into the night sky. "Okay."

They walked for several minutes before Rin spoke. "Can I ask you something?"

"Sure."

"Well, how can you tell when you like someone? In that certain way."

Kagome thought about it for several minutes. "Thats a tough question Rin but since it was important enough for you to ask, I'll try to answer. Several things, like how he makes you feel when he's around you. How do you feel when he touches you. Or how you feel when he kisses you. Let me ask you a few questions. Do you think about this person?"

"Yes," She'd started thinking about him the first time she'd noticed him on one of her walks.

"How much?"

"Well, lets see. A good bit. When I get up, sometimes during the day. Or when I know he's near. Even when he's with me."

Kagome thought about it for a minute. "What do you feel when he's near you?"

"Different things. Like sometimes I get really nervous and feel sick to my stomach. Sometimes I feel safe other times I want to run. Is that weird?"

"No," Kagome knew how she felt. "It sounds like you are developing feelings for this person." Silently she wondered who it was. It had to be someone here. She didn't think Sesshoumaru would have let too many people near the girl. Kouga was out of the question. Hopefully it wasn't Yusuke since he is crazy about Keiko. That left Kuwabara and Hiei. She wasn't too sure about either of those. In a way she prayed it was Hiei, she didn't think that big lug was right for the small girl. Then again as much as she liked Hiei, he would only break her heart. Not purposely of course, but Kagome saw the way he acted towards Yukina. The small youkai obviously had strong feelings for the girl bordering on love. If he didn't already love her, with him it was hard to tell.

"You think so?" Rin felt hollow at that thought.

"Sounds like it but be careful. I don't want to see you get hurt. Has this person tried anything yet?"

"Oh no, he's been nothing but polite to me."

That settled it for Kagome. It was Hiei. What to do? She couldn't tell the girl just to stop caring, that wasn't even an option. She knew better than anyone, you can't help who you fall in love with. Your heart had a way of doing what it pleased. Hers had decided to be greedy and want two men. She couldn't tell Rin that it was wrong for her to feel that way, because it wasn't. She liked Hiei as a person, she could understand why Rin might fall for the fire youkai. "Rin if you have feelings for him, there is no reason not to accept it. Just think about it before you do anything."

"So, its not wrong for me to feel this way?"

"No." They got to her tree and sat down. Stars were twinkling over head. She wondered what Kurama and Kuronue were doing at this moment. Kagome almost felt like laughing when she sensed the fire youkai up in the tree above them. 'Wonder how much of our conversation he heard.'

Hiei heard all of it. So the girl already had her mate picked out. She already had a man in her life. Why did that thought make him angry? He sighed when he recognized it as jealousy. Just to be curious and make sure it wasn't the wolf, he tried opening a link to her mind. At least he told himself that was why. He searched and was suprised when he was denied. He looked down at her, she was sitting only a few feet away from him. Her and the miko were speaking, he knew Kagome felt him but Rin should be unaware of his presence. What was blocking him? He waited a few minutes and tried again, nothing. She wasn't emitting any kind of power or magic yet he couldn't enter. Strange.

Kagome decided to go in, Rin would be okay with Hiei in the tree. "I'm going to go in now, you can stay out if you want."

"You're sure?"

"Yeah, you should be safe. If you get into trouble Hiei is right above you." Kagome smiled when the girl's head wipped around to look up the tree. "Goodnight Rin."

"Night," She blushed thinking he might have heard them talking. She leaned against the tree humming softly to herself. Obviously he was up there trying to sleep so she wouldn't bother him.

"What are you humming?" His voice called down.

"I don't know but it sounded good." She smiled when she heard what sounded like a laugh. "Why don't you come down? Unless I'm bothering you."

He landed beside her and proceeded to lean against the tree. "You shouldn't stay out much longer or you'll catch a cold."

"I'm okay."

"More than." He muttered under his breath.

"Huh, did you say something?"

"No." He looked into the night sky. He remembered thinking Kurama an idiot for the way he acted around Kagome. He'd known the two were dating after their first date. He'd went to go find him one evening and happened upon them. He'd seen them together many times. Of course at that time he'd never understood why he didn't bring her around his friends. He'd seen his friend starting to fall for the girl. Hiei knew he'd never succumb to an emotion such as love. He cared for his sister and his friends. He also knew what it meant to desire someone. He knew what jealousy was, longing, wanting to possess a woman. At the moment he was torn, should he act upon the desire he felt. Doing so would risk the anger of Lord Sesshoumaru. Hiei was no fool, he considered himself to be strong but he was no match for the lord.

Rin glanced over and wondered what he was thinking about. He looked to be deep in thought. She leaned forward to get a good look at his face. "Whatcha thinking about?"

He looked over to see her staring him. He smirked. "What the hell." He closed the distance between them, bringing his mouth down on hers gently. He felt her stiffen then relax.

Rin didn't know what to do, so she relaxed at the touch. He slid his tongue over her lower lip, sending a weird feeling through her. That strange burning Botan spoke of started. He was licking her bottom lip, she wondered what he was tasting. So she ran her own tongue out, it slid across his. His hand cupped her cheek as he slipped inside her mouth tasting her. He felt desire consume him as she shyly mocked his actions. He deepened the kiss, when he was sure he wouldn't scare her. He felt her surrender to his demanding mouth and it excited him. His desire doubled when she reached up and placed a hand on his chest.

"Rin!"

Hiei pulled back from her when he heard the girl's name being called. He looked down at her face, her eyes were closed and her lips were swollen. Her eyes began to open, he placed a quick kiss on her mouth. "Better go before they come looking for you."

She heard the voice then. It was Keiko and Shizuru, she stood on shaky legs. "Goodnight, Hiei." She made her way to the porch where the girls were waiting for her.

"There you are Rin." Keiko spotted her. "We are going to play some cards, want to join us?"

"Sure."

"Great, Yukina and Kagome have already gone to bed." Shizuru looked over when she felt someone looking their way. She spotted the small man, it didn't take much to notice that he was watching Rin. She smiled to herself thinking that they would make a cute couple.
