Keeping Secrets
Chapter Seven
Sango woke up to the sound of laughter. Once again they were in a village, finding shelter from the rain. It had been over a week since that day at the cave. She still didn't know how to tell the others. Should she tell the others? No matter what happened she couldn't bring it in herself to try and stay with Miroku. What kind of relationship would they have? Surely the perverted monk would know she wasn't a virgin on their wedding night. Which meant she would have to tell him before hand. He deserved the truth but telling him was so hard. Now wasn't the time, not while they hunted Naraku.
She stepped outside the hut into the warm sun. There in a crowd of at least a dozen women was the houshi, flirting away. She could hear something about palm readings. He held one girl's hands as she giggled away at him. His back was turned so he didn't see her as she silently watched. The girl threw her arms around his neck, his hand came to land on her backside. The other girls started to bicker about who got the next reading. Instead of feeling anger like usual, Sango felt some type of disappointment fill her.
Shippo walked up to stand beside her, "Aren't you going to get mad?"
"No, why?"
"Well, he's out there flirting. Then, he didn't come back last night after he snuck out the room." Shippo blurted. Sometimes the kid was too honest for his own good. "Wonder where he went."
Sango felt her shoulders slump in defeat and walked back inside. Maybe she didn't feel angry because she didn't have a right. Sure she hadn't been the one to be unfaithful first. She'd have to be stupid to believe that last night had been the first time. Deciding not to think about it right now she got on her outfit and grabbed Hiraikotsu. They would be leaving soon, best to be ready.
The group was still outside fawning over the houshi, Inuyasha was standing waiting. "Hn. Stupid baka." He watched as the women all agreed to assist the monk if need be. His ears twitched at hearing the door open and the taijiya step out. "Sango." His eyes widened as she continued to walk not saying anything to the houshi.
"Kirara," The little neko ran into her arms. "I'm going for a walk I'll be back in a bit. Hopefully, the houshi will be ready to leave by then." She placed her down and left to get some fresh air and some time alone. She didn't go far, incase they yelled for her. She leaned against a tree trying to clear her thoughts.
Why wasn't this bothering her more? Shouldn't she be upset that he'd snuck out last night, more than likely into the arms of another woman. It use to make her so mad when he did it. Was she letting what happened with Kouga effect her emotions. Was she still in shock? No, she had accepted the fact. It had happened, neither of them could have prevented it. Seemed after it happened the barrier had dissolved. So they had been put there for that purpose. Maybe Naraku hadn't been behind it. Why would he want two people to sleep together? Had the girl been a demoness that liked to play pranks?
She thought long and hard about telling everyone. They were her friends and cared about her, they wouldn't hold it against her. Yet, in doing so; it would be the knife that would sever her relationship with the houshi forever. How would Kouga react if she were to inform them. Would he be angry if she told Kagome? She knew Kagome loved Inuyasha and he, her. Kouga was still persuing her though, which meant if her friend were to find out, she'd look at him differently. He'd blame that on her, if it were to happen. It would definitely ruin what little chances Kouga had with the girl. Not that he had much to begin with. He didn't see it that way though, he thought he had a chance.
Maybe she should wait until she got a chance to speak to him again. He should have stayed to discuss it afterwards, instead of running off. Now, she was left to deal with the problems it could cause while he ran around carefree.
Kouga sat on the rock while Hakaku and Ginta fought over a fish behind him. His thoughts went back to that day and he scowled. What was he going to do now? Surely the girl had informed her friends of what happened. Which meant Kagome would know also. How would she feel about him after being told he'd deflowered her friend? Not to mention the monk would try to attack him on sight. It made seeing Kagome harder since she traveled with the two. He was sure dogshit wouldn't care either way.
It hadn't been his fault really, it had been the spell trapping them. He'd sensed it disappearing shortly after the taijiya had fallen asleep. His behavior confused him after that. Instead of leaving right away, he'd been content to lay in her arms. Then she'd moved causing her thigh to rub against him. He'd felt his blood begin to stir and his member to stiffen. He'd looked down at her face. His eyes roamed her parted lips, he had the desire to kiss her. He was shocked to realize he wanted her just as much as when the spell had been at it's peak. So he'd hauled ass out of there. Surely it was just lingering effects of the magic.
He'd been sure she'd find her way to her friends not far away upon waking. He even started to worry when the houshi asked where she was. That was only the begining of his conflicting emotions. He'd felt anger at smelling her blood and rage at seeing the houshi touch her. His youkai had wanted to tear the man's arms off.
Now a week later he found himself still thinking about her. He chucked it up to guilt. Then why did he have the urge to find them again? He must want to see Kagome, the woman he loved.
"What's wrong Kouga?" Ginta nudged him with his foot. "You've been quiet these last few days."
"Nothing, mind your own business."
"What did you and Kagome get into a fight?" Hakaku asked.
"No, speaking of which I think I'll go see her." He took off leaving them there to chase him once more.
"Inuyasha," Kagome screamed as the tenacles shot towards the hanyou. Inuyasha was busy dealing with a large scorpion as the puppet sent the appendages his way.
"Hiraikotsu," The weapon sliced through them before they got close to him.
Kagome sat on Kirara's back with Shippo while the others fought. Her arrows had been broken leaving her out of battle. Miroku was smashing through Naraku's insects.
Sango decided to go after the puppet since the other two were busy. The large weapon returned to her hands and she released it again. He seemed determined to injure Inuyasha for some reason. The puppet was cut in half, the wooden doll fell to the ground split in two.
The scorpion swung it's tail knocking Inuyasha into a tree, the stinger came down once more. Once again Hiraikotsu was released, it sliced through the tail. It fell to the ground as the boomerrang lodged itself into the tree. It reared back and turned to the taijiya, it's pinchers swung to the side. It turned it's massive body around in a matter of seconds.
Miroku turned to see the youkai going for her, "Sango get out of there."
She brought her sword up to stop the pincher coming down. Her arms began to ache from trying to hold it off.
"Sango, watch out." Kagome watched it bring it's other claw around aiming for the girl.
