A/N: Sorry about the long wait a friend of my sisters and I died so I had to deal with that, so once again sorry.

Inyasha plopped himself down on the couch in the living room while flicking on the television, he was chuckling to himself and sporting a huge grin on his face, something he hasn't done much since the death of his parents when he was a child. The girl in the kitchen had brought a smile to his face and it felt great. He heard her grumble something along the lines of him being a bastard "Ya know I can hear you, and I don't consider myself a bastard" when he heard her growl he began to laugh, he felt so free so good 'how can this stranger, this girl affect me like this' Inuyasha didn't realize it yet, but deep down in the back of his mind he really knew that this strange girl was cracking the lining around his heart, was shining light on its cold surface, something not even his most trusted friend could do.

Kagome sat in the kitchen growling to herself, she would have went into the living room to dump her ramen on the jerks head, but she was way too hungry to waste food like that, and the food was still hot she didn't want to hurt him in anyway, just make him angry. ' Maybe I'll sneak up on him, and attack him, yeah that's exactly what I'll do.' Kagome was positive her plan was full proof, she woofed down her ramen, she didn't need to be a lady if nobody was around to see her, shoveling the noodles and gulping the broth down in the same manner Inuyasha had she was satisfied.

Inuyasha could hear her movements in the kitchen, it brought another slight smile to his face, he could hear her erratic eating 'damn just by hearing her I can tell she could easily be a challenge in a ramen eating race.' What surprised him was the lack of sound after ward, 'she's trying something, I know it.' She was quiet he will give her that, but he was still a Hanyou and he could hear her soft footsteps on the carpet, and he could easily predict her distance due to her scent getting stronger with each step. 'That wench is trying to sneak up on me.' Inuyasha waited for her to be directly behind him, when her scent was so intoxicatingly close he waited for the slight movement of fabric her clothes were bound to make.

standing directly behind him she was proud that he hasn't noticed her sneaking up on him. When she raised her arms to attack she never saw it coming. Inuyasha had her pulled over the couch in one fast fluid movement and now had her begging for mercy from his powerful tickling skills. Between fits of giggling you could hear her shouting

"You.....Cheated...Please..stoo" she couldn't even finish her last word.

"Excuse me, how did I cheat, you were the one sneaking up on me, I think you deserve this." He began to tickle her more, he was having fun, he had almost forgotten the meaning of the word until now.

"INUYASHA...." she kept giggling she couldn't help it, she kept twisting, and bucking to get him to stop "Please...I can't take much more..."

"Say it and I'll stop then."

"What? Say what?....What is it?" Inuyasha began to chuckle the girl never played the mercy game.

"Well this is intersting..."

"Inuyasha please...I'm begging you...pleeeeeaase" her giggling grew in volume ' what do I have to say...' then it hit her.

"Come on wench say it or I wont stop."

"MERCY!!!!!!!!" she shouted, Inuyasha regretted it, his ears immediately flattened and he stopped his tickle attack immediately. Kagome lay on the couch catching her breath that she had lost during her backfired attempt to get Inuyasha back for being a jerk.

The room was silent the two just stayed how they were, until Kagome decided to break the silence.

"Can you tell me what happened to me?" Her voice was soft much like it was when she asking questions in the kitchen. His face iced over shielding his feelings from the girl. Kagome noticed the transformation in his eyes, they had been so warm and welcoming, now they were blank and void of emotion. 'He can't hide from me, I already seen his true self.'

"Tell me your name first" His voice was smooth, but also rough, she could tell he was fighting to keep his real self at bay, but she let it slide for now, she will ask about it later.

"My name is Kagome Higurashi." she sat up from her laying position on the couch she wanted to tell him more about herself, but there was another time for that.

"Well Kagome to put it plain and simple Naraku attacked you, and considering who, and what you are I'm surprised you couldn't tell that man is pure evil." She remained silent she wanted him to finish everything he had to say about what happened before she decided to speak. Taking her silence as a gesture to move on he continued. "I went to Naraku's Corp building to scare him from not wanting something that should be mine. I didn't even realize you were in the elevator going to see the filthy man until it stopped directly on the floor I was looking for. When you went into his office I waited on the other side of the door..." Inuyasha stopped he was guilt ridden about waiting to get her out of the room, how could he tell her this next part without her hating him.

Kagome sensed his uneasyness 'something bad must of happened.' she thought. "Inuyasha whatever it is that's next it's ok I promise not to judge you in anyway, you saved me remember."

Inuyasha felt more guilty, but he knew if he didn't continue Kagome would keep prodding until he told her the whole story "I heard Naraku telling you, you had something he wanted, and he told you it was in you, I still waited on the other side of the door I wanted to know what you had, and I knew if I burst in I would never find out." He hung his head low, his voice had changed he was laced with guilt and sadness "When I heard him moving inside the room I knew you were in sever danger, but I had to wait, Kagome I almost got you killed by not barging in, by not making you get out and doing my job the way it should have been done, since I waited you got hurt, you weren't breathing when I got you out, I had to breath for you, I was so afraid that my stupidity killed another person."

Kagome and Inuyasha could both feel the tense nature that surrounded them, even though he waited, even though her life could have been saved earlier than it had she didn't care, if he wasn't on the other side of the door at all she would be dead, if he wouldn't have breathed for her she would have been dead, if he woudn't have been there at all nobody would know, and she would have never met him. Even though he could be a jerk, an ass hole, a bastard, he could have fun, there was a smile under his mask, there was a broken heart that needed a cast, there was a boy, a man that just needed someone.

"Inuyasah..." she moved closer to him and threw her around his muscular frame, she could feel him tense and relax, she could feel his warmth seep into her skin. They both could feel the shock that passed through their bodies as their skin made contact. "thank you, you are my hero." She touched his cheek, and gave him a light kiss on the lips, the kiss represented her words, the kiss was a thank you for saving her, for bringing her back to life, for watching over her, for being her protector.

Inuyasha touched his lips, the kiss was unlike anything he had ever experienced before he felt the shield around his heart break even more, what was this girl doing to him

"Do you have family Kagome, friends, a boyfriend, I'm sure they are all worried about you." His head was still low, a light blush staining his cheeks from the chaste kiss he had just recieved.

"I have no family..they..."her voice began to shake "they were murdered, and I was put into foster care." She was silent for a few moments. "I have friends, but no boyfriend I just haven't found anyone special enough." she looked up at him her eyes penetrating into his soul

"I think you should stay here."

"why, why can't I go back to my apartment?"

Inuyasha's voice became gruff "Because its not safe out there for you, Naraku is still alive, You have the Shikon Jewel within you Kagome, he will be after it, he wants it, and he will stop at nothing to have it." He paused as he got off the couch, he began to pace the room. "We can go get your things but I absolutely forbid you to leave this house without my company." That got her who was this man telling her what and what not to do he had no right.

"Excuse me." she shot up off the couch "I think I can do what I please, you don't own me, I can protect myself." She was borderline yelling how can someone calm her spirit and spark anger so easily with in minutes.

"Naraku is dangerous wench don't underestimate him." His voice was getting louder.

"Well I think I can handle myself thank you very much, AND MY NAMES NOT WENCH IT'S KA-GOM-E GOT THAT!!" Kagome was fuming, he was being such an ass hole again, she was starting to regret giving him that thank you kiss.

"I'M NOT GOING TO LOSE YOU LIKE I DID EVERYONE ELSE OK!!!" Inuyasha made a quick turn and stormed out the front door, leaving a very shocked Kagome standing in her place. He stood on the front porch with his fists clenched, he didn't know if he wanted to run, he didn't know if it was safe for him to leave, and he wasn't going to risk the girls safety, so he just stood there fidgeting and looking off in the distance.
