Convergence

A/N: Like I said updates will be slow while I work on my main project which is posted under the name inufan625. I do have part of the next chapter written so hopefully it won;t take so as long for me to post again. I assure you I will not abandon this fic and it will be completed. Kagome sat with her back against InuYasha’s chest as he leaned against the wall. They were in her time for a few days because Kagome’s mother while conceding that Kagome could not have her half demon baby at a hospital, wanted her to get checked out at the doctor just to make sure that everything was as it should be. InuYasha nuzzled her neck softly as she continued to read the book on pregnancy her mother had given her. The nuzzles soon turned to gentle nips and warm, wet kisses.

“Inu...” She said gently. “How am I supposed to read with you doing that?”

“Exactly.” he replied, letting his hot breath caress her ear.

“Please.” she said. “I have to leave soon any way for the doctor, but I promise to make it up to you later.”

“I’ll hold you to that wench.” he told her in a low husky voice that sent a shiver down her spine and heat coursing through her body.

“Good.” she whispered in reply as she turned slightly in his arms. She brushed her lips across his, but their kiss was cut shirt by a knock on her door. Kagome didn’t get up but turned back around. “Come in.”

Her mother opened the door and smiled at the couple. “It’s time to go dear.” she said. “I’ll wait for you downstairs.”

As the door closed Kagome reluctantly removed herself from InuYasha’s embrace. She headed for the door only to feel a pair of strong arms wrap around her. “You weren’t going to leave without saying goodbye were you?” InuYasha asked.

She smiled and turned to face him. “I wouldn’t dream of it.” she replied. She raised up onto her toes and planted a soft kiss on his lips. “Later, I promise.” InuYasha released her and she headed out the door.

Kagome and her mother were shown into the office after being weighed and peeing in a cup. The nurse took her blood pressure and then asked her the basic questions she had been expecting. Then left them to wait for the doctor. While Kagome sat on the table she fiddled nervously with the edge of the paper gown she had put on. This year she would have been the year she started getting yearly exams, so she had never been in this situation before.

“Relax dear.” her mother said gently, coming to stand beside her and taking her hand. Kagome could only nod.

The doctor came in and Kagome noted that she had a kind aura and thanks to InuYasha a pleasing scent. “Hello I’m Dr. Watanabe.” She said. “Our tests have confirmed that you are pregnant.” The doctor looked over the paper work. “If you’ll just lay back we can get the unpleasantness out of the way and then you can ask any questions you might have and maybe we can hear the heartbeat.”

“Really?” Kagome asked. The doctor nodded.

Kagome removed her legs from the stirrups, relieved that the exam was over. It hadn’t been painful, but it had been uncomfortable. “Now lets see if we can hear the baby shall we?” the doctor asked Kagome nodded. She flinched slightly as a less than warm goo was squirted on the her still flat stomach. The doctor rubbed a small black microphone around her belly stilling when a small whoosh could be heard clearly. “Interesting.” The doctor moved the microphone again and settled in a different spot.

“Is that my baby?” Kagome asked. She was holding back her tears of joy as the life inside her had just become a very real thing.

“No.” the doctor replied. “I do believe that sound is your babies.”

Asami gasped. “More than one?”

The doctor smiled as both mother and daughter wore identical looks of surprise. “Well I can’t be sure without doing an ultra sound but I do believe there are two.” she replied.

Kagome rubbed her hand over her stomach. “Two.” she said “I wish InuYasha had come. I would have asked him to if I had known we could hear the heartbeat already.”

“Is he the father?” Dr. Watanabe asked. Kagome nodded. “Well we’ll schedule the ultrasound for tomorrow and he will be more than welcome to come with you.”

Kagome and her mother left the office. “Can you believe it mama?” she asked.

“I must admit it is a shock, but a blessing as well.” Asami replied.

“You’ll come with us tomorrow too right?” Kagome asked.

“I wouldn’t miss it for the world.” Asami said earnestly.

Kagome would have run up the shrine steps if InuYasha hadn’t come bounding down them and met her at the base. He sniffed her closely and when he was satisfied that she was unharmed he hugged her. “Took you long enough wench.” he said gently.

“Inu...” she replied. “I have something to tell you.”

He stiffened at her serious tone. “What is it?” He questioned. “Is something wrong with you or the pup?”

“Pups.” she replied quietly.

He cocked his head to the side and looked at her curiously. “Did you say pups wench, as in more that one?” he asked. She nodded hesitantly. He could see she was worried what his reaction would be. “ And they can tell something like that?”

She nodded again. “Tomorrow, I am getting an ultrasound, to see the babies.” she told him. “The doctor wants to be sure how many there are. You could...I mean I’d like it if you were with me.”

“We’ll be able to see the pups?” he asked.

“Not like a picture or anything and they won’t really look like anything yet, but we will be able to see their hearts beating.” she told him. “I heard it today.” She wrapped her arms around his waist and rested her head on his chest. “I heard our babies, alive, and inside me... It was so amazing. I was sad that you weren’t there. Please say you’ll come tomorrow.”

“Keh, I’ll come.” he replied.

InuYasha was a little unnerved as they rode in the elevator to the third floor. Kagome must have sensed his discomfort because she took his hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. They only had to wait about ten minutes until they were shown to the room with the ultrasound equipment.

Both InuYasha and her mother stood to one side of her. The doctor came in smiling. “So shall we see your babies?”

Kagome nodded. The doctor squeezed warm gel onto her bare stomach and turned the screen so they could all see. Soon she could heard the same whooshing from the day before and on the screen she saw two small pulsing spots. She watched the doctors brow furrow as she continued to exam the screen.

She couldn’t hold back any longer. “What is it?” she asked. “Is something wrong?”

“I didn’t mean to worry you.” the doctor said. She pointed at the screen. “These are your twins. They will be identical.” She moved the instrument pressed to Kagome’s belly. “And this one makes three.”

“Three.” Kagome gasped.

“Oh my.” her mother said.

“Oh shit.” InuYasha whispered.

Kagome looked at him and he groaned inwardly. He could tell that she had heard him. It wasn’t like he wasn’t happy, or that he didn’t want the pups, but three of them. Both the doctor and Kagome’s mother had the good grace to step out of the room.

Kagome sniffled. “You’re not happy.” she said softly.

He bent down and held her. He buried his face in her neck. “I am happy.” he told her. “I just...three pups... I don’t know how to be a father to one, let alone three. I never even met my old man. What if I fuck this up?”

He leaned back some a wiped away a stray tear that had started down her cheek. She cupped his face in her hand. “It’s okay to be scared.” she said gently. “I was scared too, that I wouldn’t be a good mother, that I wouldn’t be able to handle this, but then I remembered something important. I have you and as long as we’re together there isn’t anything I can’t do. Besides as I said before I think you’ll be a wonderful father.”

“Keh,” he replied. “Our pups will be lucky to have you as their mother.” She smiled.

The rest of the visit was much more uneventful and Kagome left with a prescription for vitamins and another appointment in two weeks.

InuYasha held her against him as they laid in bed that night. “This is real isn’t it?” he asked.

“What’s real?” she asked.

“You and me and three pups?” he replied.

She leaned up and looked at him before planting a soft kiss on his lips. “That was real.” she told him. “And what I feel for you is real too. I love you and I’m having your pups.” She kissed him again and began to rub his ear. “We belong together and we’re going to be a family. There isn’t anything more real than that.”

The hand that had been rubbing his ear trailed down his chest and slipped into the waist band of the sweat pants he was wearing. Kagome smiled when InuYasha stifled a groan as she gripped him. “Ka...gome.” he breathed.

She kissed along his neck and nipped lightly at his skin. He tried to pull her to him so that he could kiss her but she pulled away, shaking her head. “Last night I didn’t get to keep my promise.” she whispered. “So I am going to do it now. If that’s all right with you.”

He managed a nod before his head fell back and he closed his eyes. She stroked him more quickly. He was only vaguely aware that she had freed him from his pants. His eyes shot open when something hot and wet engulfed him. He looked down his body to see Kagome taking him in her mouth, a smile evident at the corners of her lips.

“Fuck...” he ground out through clenched teeth. “Kagome...ah...What...”

She looked up at him and raised her head. “Do you not like it?” she asked, sliding her hand along him. “Should I stop?”

Do I like it? Is she fucking serious? Do I want her to stop? Hell no....The say so baka... “Fuck no don’t stop.” he replied in a low rasping voice.

Kagome smiled an once again began to pleasure him with her mouth. Silently he wondered why in the hell she had never done this before and how she had gotten so good at it, but he didn’t wonder long as all rational thought was swept out of his head by Kagome’s attentions.

“Kagome...Shit...I can’t...” he choked out. “I’m gonna...Ah....”

Kagome kept going as he reached his release. She found with pleasure that she didn’t mind the taste of InuYasha in the least. It was a flavor that was uniquely his own and she was glad to have finally found the courage to act on her desire.

She moved up to lay beside him only to find herself pinned under him. He leaned down and kissed her forcefully. “Where did you learn to do that wench?” he asked.

She smiled. “I’m glad you liked it.” she replied. “I was worried I wouldn’t do it right since I’ve never done it before. I was always too scared you wouldn’t enjoy it to try before now.”

“Anytime you want to do it again just let me know.” he said with a smirk. “You can practice all you want.”

She giggled. “You’re a bad dog.”

He groaned his hips into hers and pressed his returning erection against her. She moaned. “Do you want to see just how bad I can be?” he asked.

She looked at him with dark, sparking eyes. “I was hoping you’d ask.” she told him raising her hips off the bed and rubbing herself against him.

He growled low in his throat. “Far be it from me to deny my mate.” he said as he pressed his lips to her ear. He nibbled and sucked on her ear lobe before trailing kisses down her neck, settling over her mark. “You aren’t getting any sleep tonight koishii.” InuYasha still kissing her neck didn’t see her smile.


Asami Higurashi found herself awake. She looked at the clock and found it to be just after three in the morning. She wasn’t surprised. She always woke about this time and checked on her children before returning to bed. She heard the snores from her father in laws room and found Souta sleeping soundly in his bed as well. She headed down the hall to check on Kagome and InuYasha.

Kagome growled softly when InuYasha stopped moving. She had been so close. He chuckled softly. “Don’t worry wench I ain’t done with you yet.” he said quietly. “I think I hear someone coming.”

“Oh.” she replied. “Can you tell who it is?”

Asami stopped outside the door. She could hear muffled voices.

“No.” he told her. “Just be quiet will ya.”

She nodded. “I think I’d die if anyone caught us.” she said.

“Keh, it ain’t like they don’t know what we do.” he scoffed. “You’re carrying my pups after all.”

“But still.” she said. “Knowing and seeing are two different things. Do you want my mother to see us or jii-chan. He’d probably try to seal away your manhood.”

Asami couldn’t hold back the giggle at Kagome’s statement. She was probably right. She turned and went back to her own room.

InuYasha heard the person heading back down the stairs and resumed his previous movement. “Ah...” Kagome breathed. “Are they ...gone...”

“Yeah, now shut up and enjoy it.” he told her.

Before she could reply he captured her lips in a searing kiss. Once again everything else was forgotten as they made love until the sun had started to rise.

InuYasha let his mate sleep in. After all not only was she carrying three pups, but she was only human and he was quite certain that the previous nights activities had worn her out, since he himself had been tired after. A slight smile graced his lips as he entered the kitchen where Asami was working on breakfast. He was given to wonder how much their mating had really changed her since she had no problem keeping up with him.

“Good morning.” Asami said as he sat at the table. “Did you sleep well?”

The amused gleam in her eye told him that it had most likely been her at the door last night. He blushed. “Uh..Yeah” he replied.

She smiled. “That’s good.” she said. “Will Kagome be joining us, or perhaps she needs her rest after being up so late last night?” Asami delighted in the ever darkening flush on the young hanyou’s face.

Now InuYasha knew it had been her and that she had known what they were doing. Keh what do I care if she knows. She obviously ain’t upset about it... In spite of his dismissal he still found himself embarrassed. As much as he couldn’t say it Kagome’s mother was like a second mother to him and her opinion mattered. “She’s still sleeping.” He muttered.

They returned to the Feudal Era later that afternoon promising to back in time to make her next doctor’s appointment in two weeks. Though she hadn’t told InuYasha her young age and the fact that she was having more than one baby made the doctor consider her high risk and she would have appointments more frequently than most. She also hadn’t told him exactly how scared she was of having her babies in his time without doctors and medicine and decided that she would try not to think about that until it was closer to her time to deliver.

They returned to a rumor of a shard several days to the west. InuYasha was loath to take Kagome anywhere near Sesshomaru’s territory, but it had to be done. If they ran into his bastard brother then there would be hell to pay for what he did to Kagome. In fact that was the only thing he was looking forward to about this trip.

InuYasha traveled a bit more slowly than the group was used to as he carried Kagome. He would not risk their pups, not for a jewel shard, not for anything. He hadn’t let on that he knew how dangerous it was for her to whelp so many pups at once, but he did know and that was one of the reasons he hadn’t objected to returning to her time so frequently for her doctor visits. Her time had wonders he had never even dreamed of before meeting her and if it meant that she and his pups would all survive he would gladly journey to her world despite the foul smells and loud noises.

Of course he would never admit as much but Kagome having expressed her fears to him that she too had doubted her ability to be a good mother had eased his own. Together they would raise their pups. No doubt she would provide the move obvious loving and nurturing, where he could not and he would teach them how to hunt and protect, as well as show them his own love for them by keeping them safe and sparing them the pains of the life had been forced to endure.

It took six days to find the demon with the shard. All in all it had been a rather boring battle against a lesser youkai that had stumbled upon a shard. It had hardly taken any effort at all to slay the youkai. They would make camp for the night and head back in the morning, hopefully arriving with one day to spare before Kagome had to return to her time.

InuYasha woke first as always His mate slumbering in front of him clutching the kitsune to her chest. He headed for the nearby river and caught several fish. As much as he like ramen he knew it was important that Kagome eat something more substantial. Kagome woke to the smell of roasting fish and was suddenly stricken with the urge to purge the contents of her stomach. She jumped up and ran into the bushes.

InuYasha followed her and found her, on her knees, retching. She groaned. “Are you all right?” he asked. His voice was heavy with concern.

“I think so.” she replied weakly. “It’s just morning sickness. Can you bring me some water, please?” She looked up in time to see his nod before he went to see to her request.

Kagome couldn’t even look at the fish, but she did finally manage to eat some rice and was thankful that her mother had the forethought to put some crackers in her bag. Once she was done eating she found herself feeling very tired, like she hadn’t slept at all. She went to stand and was hit by a wave of dizziness. She reached out for InuYasha, who caught her as she fell.

She smiled into worried amber eyes. “Sorry.” she said softly. “I’m just so tired.” She closed her eyes and he could tell within seconds that she had fallen asleep.

He looked to Miroku and Sango, but neither had any answers for him. They had assured him that the nausea was normal, but could not advise him about the tiredness. He decided that the best course of action was first to get her to Kaede and after that to her own time. He stood with Kagome in his arms and they set out at a slightly faster pace than before.

Kagome woke at dusk, still feeling tired. InuYasha was by her side. “Have I really been asleep all day ?” she asked. He nodded. “Oh...” Her stomach growled. “Is there anything to eat?”

InuYasha handed her a bowl of rice and vegetables. “Are you all right?” he asked.

“I feel all right, just tired.” she replied as she began eating. She finished the bowl and asked for more.

InuYasha felt slightly better at her renewed appetite but it still didn’t assuage all his fears. He sniffed her closely, but found that there didn’t seem to be anything wrong. “Still hungry?” he asked as she held out her bowl.

She bit her lip nervously. “Um...Did you... I mean is there any meat?” she asked. “I’m just really craving some right now. I don’t know why but I don’t think I’ll be satisfied until I have some.”

“We didn’t take the time to hunt anything.” Sango offered.

“Oh okay.” Kagome said. “Don’t worry about it then.”

“I’ll be right back.” InuYasha said, and he took off into the trees. If Kagome wanted meat he would get it for her. He caught a rabbit in a matter of minutes and prepared it for cooking before returning to camp. He set it over the fire.

Well before it was done Kagome grabbed it and started eating it. Everyone was staring at her but she didn’t seem to notice as she downed the entire rabbit. InuYasha moved closer and studied her as she threw the stick onto the fire. A primal growl welled up inside him as he stared at the blood on her chin. Without thinking he leaned forward and licked it.

Kagome saw the fire in his eyes and her body reacted as he cleaned her face. His soft growl grew louder and a soft whimper escaped her throat. In a flash of red Kagome and InuYasha disappeared into the trees.

“What do you make of that?” Miroku asked.

“I have no idea.” Sango replied.

InuYasha stopped abruptly and scanned the area for threats, finding none he pulled Kagome to him and kissed her forcefully. Kagome was helpless to resist as he shredded her clothes with out even realizing it. He lowered her to the ground.

She looked up at him through her clouded gaze as he removed his own clothes. He looked as feral as she had ever seen him and it thrilled her. He must have noticed her excitement because a pleased growl came forth as he laid on top of her. She didn’t know how he managed to be so wild while at the same time so gentle as he made love to her, but she did know that she wouldn’t change a thing about their joining. He could be so many different things, all of them beautiful and all of them her InuYasha.

As soon as they had both found their release he dressed, giving her his haori in place of her ruined clothes. He carried her back to camp and was pleased to find the others had already fallen asleep.

The next morning started the same as the one before it, with Kagome throwing up what she had failed to completely digest. Once again she found herself utterly exhausted and falling asleep in InuYasha’s arms.

They stopped briefly at midday and Kagome remained asleep. “This ain’t normal.” InuYasha said looking over at his mate with both affection and concern.

“I agree.” Miroku offered. “Perhaps carrying a hanyou child is different from a human pregnancy.”

“She ain’t carrying a hanyou pup.” InuYasha said. “She’s having three.”

“Three.” Sango gasped. “How do you know that?”

“In her time we went to one of the healers and there was this thing that let us see inside her.” he explained. “There were three heartbeats. She has a picture.”

“Why didn’t you tell us?” Sango asked.

“She wanted to wait until we were used to the idea before she told everyone else.” he replied.

“Perhaps we should seek out someone with experience in hanyou births.” Miroku suggested.

“Like who?” InuYasha replied.

“What about Shiori and her mother.” Shippou suggested.

“Or there was Jinenji.” Sango added. “Surely one of them might be able to tell us if what is happening is normal.”

“First we go back and ask the baba and I’ll take Kagome to this doctor of hers.” he said. “If they can’t help then we’ll go look for the others.”

For once everyone seemed to think InuYasha had come up with a good idea and agreed with his plan. The next few days were just like the two previous. Kagome would wake up ill and sleep all day until after dark. When she woke she would be ravenous and would consume much more food than usual. The only change was that she no longer would eat anything but meat, always under cooked as if she couldn’t wait for it to be finished.

They made it back to the village at dusk and InuYasha laid Kagome on a mat in Kaede’s hut. He left straight away to hunt since Kagome would be waking soon. He was more worried than he let on. The only thing that kept him from going completely crazy was that she was spending what little time that she was awake eating, nourishing herself and their pups.

He returned with three large rabbits. Sango used one to make stew and the other two were set over the fire for Kagome. She slept later than before and the rabbits were completely cooked when she woke. She took one and sniffed it. She looked at InuYasha.

“What is it?” he asked.

“I can’t eat this.” she replied setting it down.

“Why the hell not?” he questioned.

She shrugged. “It’s too cooked. I just can’t.” she told him. “I don’t know why. I’m sorry.”

He could tell she was about to cry. He had to head her off before she got started. “Keh, don’t be sorry.” he said. “I’ll get you something else. Just don’t cry.”

She wiped away the single tear that had escaped and nodded. “Thank you InuYasha.” she whispered as he left.

He brought two more rabbits and set them over the fire for her. He had been waiting for her to wake before eating, so when she decided her food had been cooked enough he ate the two rabbits she had rejected. After eating they talked to Kaede who could offer no help other than to tell him what the others had. The morning sickness was normal.
