Chapter 7: Goodbye Kikyo

*Warning: I do not like Kikyo, or what she has done to Inuyasha and Kagome in the series or in my story(even if I made her do it). Kikyo lovers are NOT going to like this chapter. You have been warned.*

Inuyasha walked back towards camp. He thought about what he would tell the others. ‘I could just tell them a portion of the truth. Maybe they won’t get so mad…maybe.’ Inuyasha planned exactly what he was going to say. He wanted to be ready for questions, so that they wouldn’t figure out that he attacked Kagome.

“Inuyasha! Where is Kagome? Why didn’t you bring her back? What happened? Inuyasha, answer me!” Shippo jumped on the hanyou as soon as he came into sight.

“She’s not coming back.”

“WHAT?” Sango, Miroku and Shippo all yelled at once.

“She met up with Sesshomaru, I caught them kissing. She decided to go away with him.” Inuyasha said. He sounded crestfallen. He was really starting to miss her, no matter what he says to Kikyo. ‘What have I done?’

“Inuyasha you are such an idiot! Did it ever occur to you that maybe Sesshomaru has her under a spell? Why didn’t you go after her?” Sango said.

“She isn’t under a spell. I could smell her, she smelled normal, except…there was a slight difference.” Inuyasha replied.

“Could that not have been the spell?” Miroku said.

“No. What was different was that she wasn’t afraid of Sesshomaru. She wanted to be with him…instead of me. I can smell Sesshomaru’s magic, and she didn’t smell like it.” Inuyasha said his voice dropping lower and lower as he tried not to cry.

“Oh Inuyasha…have you been with Kikyo lately?” Sango asked.

“Why? That doesn’t matter.”

“Yes it does. It may be why Kagome moved on. She may have given up on you because of your connection to Kikyo.” Sango said. Inuyasha got very angry.

“It does not matter! Last time I was with Kikyo, Kagome was with Sesshomaru at the same time!” Inuyasha yelled. Shippo spoke up then. He had been hiding in the bushes when this happened.

“Kagome was trying to go home, and she was running because you wouldn’t let her. Sesshomaru surprised her at the well, and tried to capture her, but they both fell in. Kagome couldn’t stop herself because she was running so fast, and she ran into him. Then when you were telling Kikyo that you were using Kagome, she was back, in the bottom of the well. She heard you!” Shippo yelled. Knowing that he would be in trouble for lying to Sango, and for spying on Inuyasha, he didn’t care. Kagome could be happy with Sesshomaru.

Inuyasha just stood there, thinking back to that day. He never listened to his senses when Kikyo was around. But if he thought back on it, he could smell and hear everything as clearly, as if he was still there. He could smell the deceit in Kikyo’s voice, and Kagome’s tears. He could smell his brother, imagine him holding Kagome so that she wouldn’t surprise him and stop his conversation with Kikyo.

“I should have known.” A cold voice came out of the forest.

“Kikyo…what are you doing here? What have you done to me? You’ve ruined everything! Taken away everything I hold dear to me! How dare you!” Inuyasha said, drawing Tetsaiga.

“You heard what you wanted to hear. You wanted to be free of decisions. You were glad that I made the decision for you, and so you turned my lie into truth. Do not blame me for the pain you now feel. You’ve lost her forever, and you are now able to fulfill your promise to me, and join me in Hell!”

“No Kikyo, you’ve caused too much trouble already. That witch was right, you are a demon now, and your time in this world is beyond over.” He said. Before Kikyo had time to draw her bow, Inuyasha rushed at her. She ran to the left, only to see Sango standing there, holding the Hiraikotsu high above her head, ready to throw. Miroku stood on Inuyasha’s other side with the wind tunnel at the ready. Kikyo had nowhere to go. All three let their weapons loose at once. The clay body of the dead priestess was destroyed, then sucked into the void of the wind tunnel. No longer would the bitter, lingering soul of Kikyo plague their lives.

I’m sorry this is such a short chapter you guys, but Exams are next week, and I’ve gotta start studying NOW. I still want your imput on how the story should go, even though I’ve got a pretty good idea with where I’m going with this. I love all your reviews, please don’t lose interest! I’m sorry this will be a slow week, but you can either have long chapters and fewer updates, or short chapters and more frequent updates. Thanks so much! Tell me which you want, and I’ll oblige. Later guys!
