Kagome: Pleasure Slave?

AN: Sorry no lemon this chapter, but a lot of fluff I think. Also kind of a long chapter.

CH 7: What the Truth Brings

‘I leave in two days. Should I tell Kagome? Will she even care?’ The Lord of the Western Lands was currently sitting in his study looking over some documents sent to him from the East. The Eastern Lord was practically begging Sesshoumaru to stay out of the battle, but after hearing that his stupid half brother would be fighting with the East there was no way he would back down.

‘Inu Yasha will pay for disgracing this family.’ Sesshoumaru though and tossed the papers into the fireplace. His thoughts then turned back to Kagome. He had carried her back to her room after she had fallen asleep against him in the library. A few of his servants had seemed shocked to see him carrying the sleeping girl who was wearing his haori so he was half naked, but they knew better than to say anything.

He had wanted nothing more than to lay with her in her bed after he had set her down, but knew that he had work to attend to. He left her still wrapped in his haori and went to his room to bathe and change. He greatly wondered what she would do after he left. He wondered if she would be relieved that she wouldn’t have to deal with him or if she would miss him. He greatly hoped she would miss him.

Kagome awoke back in her bed. She looked around and was slightly disappointed to find that she was alone. She sat up and yawned. She then noticed that she was still dressed in Sesshoumaru’s haori. She ran her hands over it. It was made of a very fine silk and was light, but still warm. Kagome couldn’t believe he had left it with her.

‘He’s been acting strange. Actually I wouldn’t know how he acts normally, but according to his servants he’s very unemotional and not exactly the kindest of people. But then again he has Rin. And I still can’t figure out why he held me and gave me his clothes.’

Kagome got out of bed and changed into one of the kimonos in her room. It was a dark blue with little silver butterflies embroidered on it. She tied the silver obi and then left her room. She was walking down the hall when she heard a crash and a noise that sounded like a squawk.

Kagome ran to go see what had happened and found Rin chasing Jaken around with a kimono in her hands. “Rin-chan?” The little girl looked up and gave a little squeal when she saw Kagome and ran over to the older girl.

“Kagome-kaasan! Rin was trying to get Jaken-sama to play dress-up.” Rin said.

“I don’t think Jaken would look very good in that kimono Rin-chan.” Kagome said and the little green youkai gave a sigh of relief. “What do you say we go to the library and I’ll teach you how to write your name?”

“Will Kagome-kaasan teach Rin to write Kagome-kaasan and Sesshoumaru-sama’s names too?”

“Hai, now what do you say we leaven Jaken alone? I’m sure he has work to do.” Kagome said picking up Rin. She gave a small wink at Jaken and then left with the little girl.

‘This ningen is actually proving useful.’ Jaken thought as he felt relief wash over him now that he was free of Rin. ‘Also, since she’s been here Sesshoumaru-sama has hit this Jaken less.’ For once in his life Jaken hoped that a ningen actually stayed in the castle.

Kagome sat in the library teaching Rin, until Sango walked in saying that dinner was ready. “Come on Rin-sama, you know Sesshoumaru-sama doesn’t like it if you’re late.” Sango said.

“Can Kagome-kaasan come too?” Rin asked as she stood up. Kagome gathered all the papers together that were strewn across the floor.

“I don’t think Sesshoumaru would want me there.” Kagome said feeling a little dejected. She handed Rin a few pages of her writing and told her to go show it too Sesshoumaru, but Rin was adamant about Kagome eating dinner with her.

“I’m sure we can ask Sesshoumaru-sama.” Sango said and the three of them left the room.

Sesshoumaru was already sitting at the table when they entered. “Sesshoumaru-sama!” Rin ran over to him and gave him a hug. “Can Kagome-kaasan eat dinner with us?”

‘Kaasan?’ Sesshoumaru looked up at Kagome who was avoiding his gaze. ‘It would give me a chance to be with her longer before I have to leave.’ “Hai Rin, she may stay.” Sesshoumaru answered to everyone’s surprise. Kagome turned to look at him with wide eyes and he just looked back at her with his warm honey eyes.

Rin ran over to Kagome and grabbed her hand leading her to a seat. She was made to sit on Sesshoumaru’s right while Rin sat across from her. All the while Rin had a huge toothy smile on her face. Kagome turned to look at Sango who gave her a small smile and waved as she left the room to go eat with the other servants.

“Sesshoumaru-sama, look at what Kagome-kaasan taught Rin to do.” The little girl handed the youkai lord a few pages that consisted of her name, his and Kagome’s written in some slightly sloppy calligraphy.

“It’s very nice Rin.” He put his hand on the girl’s head and ruffler har hair a bit in a small show of affection. Kagome was surprised, but despite his seemingly apathetic nature he seemed to be a good father to Rin. The girl obviously loved him.

The meal was served and after one bite Kagome decided that it was definitely the best thing she had ever tasted. “Where did Kagome-kaasan come from?” Rin asked.

“I live in a small village just on the border of the Southern and Western Lands.” Kagome answered.

“Do you have any family?”

“Hai, I have my mother and my little brother Souta. You remind me of him a lot.”

“Don’t you miss them?” Rin asked. “Rin lost her family and she misses them a lot. But now Rin has Sesshoumaru-sama.”

“Hai, I miss them a lot too, but I’m sure they’re fine.” Kagome said in a wistful tone.

Sesshoumaru noticed her tone and could sense the sadness in her scent when she thought of her family. He wondered if she resented him for her being taken. ‘Perhaps I should let her go back home.’ He thought. He wanted nothing more than to keep her and make her the Lady of the Western Lands, but he didn’t know how she would feel about it.

“Why did Kagome-kaasan come here?” Rin asked the inevitable question that Sesshoumaru dreaded and Kagome wasn’t sure how to answer.

“Ummm...well I left home one day and was kidnapped by some very bad men.” Kagome started and Sesshoumaru winced as to what she would say next. “But Sesshoumaru took me away from them and brought me here.” That was not what he had expected.

“So Sesshoumaru-sama saved Kagome-kaasan like Sesshoumaru-sama saved Rin?” The girl asked.

Kagome didn’t like to lie so she was trying to do her best to phrase her answers so that they weren’t lies, but didn’t shatter the girl’s image of her father figure. “Uh...not quite, but I’m sure I’d be in a much worse place if he hadn’t taken me away.” Kagome answered.

Sesshoumaru’s eyes never left Kagome as she answered his young ward’s questions. He was surprised how she worded her answers. They were very thought out considering the amount of time she had to answer before Rin suspected something. Kagome’s eyes met his for a moment and they got lost in each other’s eyes, but she turned away and looked down at her food with a blush spreading on her cheeks.

Both Sesshoumaru and Rin noticed the blush that was on Kagome’s cheeks. The little girl was happy because she wanted Kagome to marry Sesshoumaru so she could really be her mom. “Will Sesshoumaru-sama marry Kagome-kaasan?” Rin said her eyes filled with hope.

Sesshoumaru and Kagome both tensed when they heard her question. They looked at each other for a second and then turned away. Sesshoumaru’s face was unreadable, but Kagome’s had gotten redder. “Umm...I think Sesshoumaru has to...to find a youkai mate Rin. But I’m sure whoever he finds will think you’re wonderful.”

Sesshoumaru almost groaned when he heard Kagome mention a youkai mate. Truth be told he could take any type of mate he wanted. The practice of taking ningen mates was more common than many thought. The only problem was that there were still many that looked down on humans and the short life span humans had. He also didn’t believe that he could find a youkai mate that would treat Rin like her own or one that she would feel as strongly about as she did Kagome.

Rin looked disappointed by the answer, but that wasbe ebe expected. From then on dinner was rather quiet. After Rin went with Kagome to go bathe and then Kagome took Rin to her room to tuck her in.

“If Sesshoumaru-sama asked Kagome-kaasan to marry him would she?” Rin asked as she got settled into bed with Kagome pulling the blanket over her.

“Ummm...sure Rin. Now go to sleep.” Rin smiled and closed her eyes. Kagome gave her a small kiss on the cheek and then left the room.

Kagome walked back to her room and was met witat sat she least expected. Sesshoumaru was sitting on the edge of her bed as if he had been waiting for her. “Umm...no offense Sesshoumaru, but I don’t think I’m really...well...” Kagome knew what her duties as a concubine were, but with all the talk about her family and the whole emotional aspect that she was getting from being with Sesshoumaru made her just not in the mood.

Sesshoumaru stood and walked over to her. “I leave in less than two days.” He ran the back of han hand over her cheek. “I have told Jaken that after I leave you will be given a carriage to take you back home.” It was not an easy decision that Sesshoumaru had come to but he knew she missed home and he could not make her stay and have her loathe him for making her do so.

“You want me to go home?” Kagome was shocked. She didn’t know whether to be happy that she would get to be home or to feel depressed by the fact that he didn’t want her.

“You miss your family.” Was all he said and then walked past her. Kagome turned and grabbed his arm before he left. She had to know if he was just making excuses to get rid of her.

“Are you tired of me already?” Kagome asked. She would rather have asked if he loved her or at least cared about her, but she couldn’t bring herself to ask that.

Sesshoumaru looked at her and to her surprise gave her a small smirk. “I could never tire of you.” He leaned down and gave her a small kiss on the lips. At least it was supposed to a small, short kiss, but Kagome wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled his lips more firmly against hers. “I thought you said you weren’t in the mood.” Sesshoumaru said after pulling away. He smirked when a blush spread over Kagome’s face. “Sleep well Kagome.” He gave her a small kiss on the forehead and left the room.

Kagome walked over to her bed and collapsed on it. She resisted the urge to act like a giddy little girl and grab a pillow and swoon over how nice he was being. ‘Maybe a talk with kaasan will help me out. She always knows what to do.’ Kagome closed her eyes and let sleep claim her.

‘With Kagome home I don’t have to worry about some traitor in my castlat cat could harm her.’ Sesshoumaru entered his chambers and lay down on his bed. ‘Did she not want to leave?’ Sesshoumaru thought as he remembered how hurt she had seemed when she thought he wanted to get rid of her. ‘Perhaps when this war is over I will make her my mate.’

Kagome woke again feeling slightly disappointed at finding that she was alone. “Ohayou gozaimasu, Kagome.” She turned and was greeted by Sango.

“Ohayou Sango.” Kagome pulled herself out of bed. “Will you be joining me in a bath today?”

“Hai, but I won’t be the only one.” Sango said and Rin appeared peeking around Sango’s legs.

“Is Kagome-kaasan ready to go to the baths?”

“Hai Rin.” Kagome crouched down and picked up the little girl and she and Sango walked to the baths.

“So you’ll be going home soon?” Sango asked.

“Hai, Sesshoumaru said I could go back home while he was away from the castle.”

“Does that mean Kagome-kaasan is going to leave me?” Rin said sniffling a bit.

Kagome hugged the little girl. “Don’t worry Rin, I’ll come back.” Kagome said. The statement slightly surprised Sango thinking that any concubine would not be so willing to return if they had gotten a chance to go home.

“Promise?” Rin asked.

“Hai, I promise.” Rin cheered up.

“Then Rin will wait for both Sesshoumaru-sama and Kagome-kaasan to come back.” Rin stated enthusiastically. Both of the older girls couldn’t help but smile at the little girl’s antics.

When they were all dressed Sango left to do her chores and Rin practically dragged Kagome out to the gardens. Well, as good as a six year old could drag around someone. “So what do you want to do in the gardens today Rin?”

wan wants to pilowelowers for Sesshoumaru-sama.” Rin said and then began to run around picking any flower she thought was pretty. Kagome went over to the girl and joined her and showed her how to make necklaces out of some flowers.

Sesshoumaru had a strange feeling of foreboding. He knew it must have something to do with the battle he would be leaving for tomorrow. All of his things were already gathered and his army was ready to leave at a moments notice. ‘Now I just need to make sure Rin will stay out of trouble.’

He knew the girl already knew he was leaving, but he doubted she knew for how long. He didn’t even know how long this would take. It wasn’t just like the other trips he would take to survey his lands.

The youkai lord found his young ward in the gardens along with the woman that hadn’t left his mind in days. He walked up beside them and Rin gave him the usual greeting of practically yelling his name and running up to hug his leg. Kagome just gave him a warm smile. “Rin, I want you to promise that you will always stay with someone while you’re here.” He said to the girl still attached to his leg.

“Hai, Sesshoumaru-sama. Rin will be good and wait till Sesshoumaru-sama and Kagome-kaasan come back.”

Sesshoumaru was surprised that the girl already knew that Kagome was leaving. Well at least it saved him the trouble of having to tell her and probably see her near tears. He hated it when his young ward was not happy, though he would never admit it to anyone.

“Rin picked flowers for Sesshoumaru-sama.” Rin handed him a bunch of flowers that hand been in her hand. The youkai lord accepted the gift though he couldn’t understand the purpose. Rin then ran to pick more.

“Why does she give flowers?” Sesshoumaru asked out loud.

“It’s a ningen tradition to give flowers to people you care about.” Kagome answered. “So when do you leave tomorrow?”

“Just after sunrise.” Kagome nodded. Kagome had been wondering what it was Sesshou diu did when she wasn’t with him or working. Did he occupy his time with other concubines? She knew she wasn’t the only one in the castle. She’d be leaving tomorrow anyway so why not ask. “Umm...do you...” She wasn’t sure how to word this question.

“Do I what?”

“Well...ummm...since I’ve come here have you...well...with other...”

Sesshoumaru pretty much got the gist of what she was trying to say and was wondering why she wanted to know. ‘Should I really tell her?’ He knew if he did tell her it may jeopardize the relationship he wanted to have with her. He wondered why he had been so stubborn about his feeling with her and rutted with that other concubine. He knew, however, that he couldn’t lie to her. He sat down thinking how to word his answer.

Kagome sat next to him sure that he was ignoring her question. ‘What right do I have to know? Stupid Kagome, you’re only a concubine remember. He doesn’t need to explain himself to you.’

“Hai, I did.” Sesshoumaru started. Kagome’s face fell. “Only once and she couldn’t compare to you. There was something missing.” He was trying to explain the best he could. Kagome looked at him a little confused and Sesshoumaru knew he would have to explain better or risk losing any chance with her.

“I felt I was getting too attached to you and that if I used one of my other concubines I would forget about you.” He explained. “But she couldn’t even comese tse to you.”

Kagome didn’t know if she should be disappointed or pleased. ‘I think I love him, but just because he prefers me in bed doesn’t mean he loves me. He could just be giving me all this stuff just because I am his best. But what happens if someone else comes in who he thinks is better?’

Sesshoumaru wished he knew what she was thinking right then. ‘Now she probably won’t return after she gets to go home. Why the hell did I have to tell the truth?’ Kagomdn’tdn’t say anything after that and Sesshoumaru didn’t know what he could possibly say to help his situation.

The day from then on was a little tense. Both wanted to know how the other felt, but neither seemed willing to say anything. Sesshoumaru was walking down the hall lost in thought. He would be leaving tomorrow and he did not want leave with Kagome upset at him. ‘I’m the Lord of the Western Lands, one of the most powerful youkai alive and I’m worrying about a ningen woman being mad at me.’ It sounded pathetic especially to him, but he couldn’t help it.

It was already evening and he followed Kagome’s scent to her room. For once he had absolutely no thoughts of rutting with her. Usually even when he had just went to her out of curiosity or to check on her the thought of rutting was still in the back of his mind. However, now that thought wasn’t even close to his mind, he just wanted to feel her by him. He wanted the comfort she always seemed to provide.

He entered her room to her sitting on the edge of her bed just sort of staring into space. She looked up when she sensed him enter the room. He walked up to her and lifted her into his arms. He set her on the bed and lay down next to her.

Kagome was compliant to his movements of her, but she didn’t want him there at the moment. Thinking that she was in fact just another concubine hurt. She knew what she was, but before she had at least had hope she was more. She was surprised though when Sesshoumaru just pulled her close and held her rather than doing anything else. “What are you doing here Sesshoumaru?”

“I am not used to apologizing, but I am sorry for what I said earlier. I didn’t want to lie to you. Over these few days you’ve become...special to me.” Sesshoumaru admitted.

“Yeah, I must be one hell of a concubine.” Kagome said sarcastically.

“Don’t say that. You are so much more than a concubine could ever be.” Sesshoumaru said and nuzzled his nose against her neck taking in her scent. Kagome was surprised by all the things Sesshoumaru was saying.

“You sure you won’t just find some new concubine to take my place?” Kagome asked.

“No more concubines. I already told you I’d never tire of you.” Sesshoumaru said and kissed her neck pulling her closer. Kagome gave a small smile though he couldn’t see it and cuddled closer into his haori.

Kagome began to kiss his neck, but he stopped her. She pulled back and looked at him curiously and was shocked when she saw a small smile on his face. “I need to leave early tomorrow and will need my energy. I also just wanted to hold you tonight and taken in your presence to have memories to keep me during my battles ahead.”

Kagome smile one of the few true smiles she had shown during her stay at the Western castle. She kissed him a slow and gentle kiss before cuddling against him again and the two fell into a peaceful sleep.
