"Mi Casa es su Casa"
Chapter Seven:
Kagome, for once, kept quite, as much out of shock as fear. Cautiously, Sango inched toward Inuyasha. "Yash, it's cool, chill
out..." Miroku silently motioned for the three guys to back away. Even Kouga listened. Sango continued. "Yash, they're away now, see?" she said, pointing to the trio about 2 and half yards away from Kagome. "See, no one is threatening you, or Kagome for that matter." His eyes slowly began to go back to their natural hue. That is, till Kagome opened her big fat mouth. "And I'm NOT fucking YOU-" Her eyes widened as she was cut of by a snarl. Repeating once again, more firmly this time, Inuyasha said "Mine!" As Kagome began to back away, she was grabbed tightly by the shoulders, and Inuyasha pressed his mouth to hers, forcing his tongue into her mouth. Kagome was shocked, to say the least, as was everyone else. As Inuyasha slowly pulled away, the group could see his eyes.
They were Gold.
Quickly, the hanyou sped off towards his home, leaving five people and the occasional onlooker very confused. The first to speak was Hiten. "Well, how the fuck is that for introductions?" The group laughed nervously. As if snapping out of a daze, Kouga took swift strides over to Kagome, followed slowly by Hiten and Miroku. "My dear Kagome, are you alright? That bastard didn't hurt you did he? If he did I swear I'll-" "Nah, I'm fine...A little freaked, but fine. Oh, and Kouga, this is Hiten. Hiten, this is Kouga." They shook hands, and Kouga looked over at Kagome. "A friend, nothing more, correct?" Kagome nodded. Instantly, Kouga smiled at Hiten like they were old friends. "So, you like sports?" Kagome tuned out their conversation.
She turned towards Sango and Miroku, who were whispering feverishly. "Alright guys, what the hell was that?!" "Well, Inuyasha and Kouga were fighting because Kouga got in his face, and then Inuyasha's demon blood took over. Only..." Miroku trailed off. "Only what?" " Well, the two of them have fought many times in the past, and it's gotten pretty bad, hospital bad, and this is the first time Inuyasha has lost total control." Kagome was shocked. Why would today be a special occasion? Why would he choose now of all times to let his demon half internally whoop his ass?
Her thoughts were interrupted by Hiten. "Hey Kag, I'ma head to work, I'll see you about 11:30 ok? You can get a ride home right?" Kagome nodded. "Later babe, see ya then." She gave Hiten a friendly kiss on the cheek and a hug, waving as he hopped on his bike, ignoring the stares of the few girls still at school.
Kagome tried to calm herself by taking a deep breath of the sweet mid-September air. "So, any ideas on why he changed now?" Miroku looked to Sango. "Go ahead and tell her. Whether we're right or not, it has to do with her." "Anyways, we think that Inuyasha might be somewhat attracted to you. That or he's being really overpossesive about his new friend. We doubt that, since he said you were his. The fact you were the only one he wasn't threatened by also backs up our reasoning." Kagome sighed. "Whew! I need a fucking drink! Wanna head to my house, and we can continue or little discussion there? I gotta cell if you've gotta call." Miroku and Sango agreed, eager to see where Kagome's house was. Sango used Miroku's phone to call, saying she was going to go to Inuyasha's with Miroku, and since it was a Tuesday, and the next day was a staff meeting and they had off, she would stay the night there.
Miroku drove, since Sango didn't have a car, and Hiten would be driving Kagome's back to her house after work. The three piled into the car, Kagome in the passengers seat so she could give directions. About twenty minutes later, they arrived in front of a gated-in community. Miroku glanced over. "Uhh, Kag? You sure this is the right place?" She rolled her eyes. "Of course I'm sure, what am I, a dumbfuck?" As they rolled up to the guards’ station, he opened the door and walked out. Kagome told Miroku to roll down his window. "Hey Frank, Hiten's got my car tonight, so he'll be in later, k? It's a new one, not one of the others." Miroku turned his head and mouthed "Others? As in more than one?" Kagome nodded her head as Frank to her to call if anyone else was going to come by. As the gate rolled back, Miroku slowly moved on.
As they entered the community, there was a series of large fountains in a lake, and a golf course. Slack-jawed and bug-eyed, Sango and Miroku looked on in shock. "Just keep going straight, alright?" Kagome instructed. They drove on in silence. Finally, Kagome spoke up. "This is it!" She pointed to by far, the largest house there. It had a gate as well, leading to an extensive driveway that seemed to go on and on.
Kagome searched through her book bag, pulling out a small remote. She punched in a few numbers, than the iron-wrought gate opened slowly. The driveway curved and twisted, and it led up to a large Victorian-style stone mansion. Kagome motioned to one of four large, low buildings that were further down the drive. "Go there, that’s the guest garage." Sango spoke for the first time since entering the place. "Guest garage? What are the other three for?" "The biggest one's my fathers, the second largest is Liana's, the last is mine" Miroku was in shock as it was, but he nearly had a heart attack when someone came up and stuck his head in the window.
"Want me to take that for you now sir?" "Go ahead, 'Roku, it's just the valet!" the three got out of the car, and started up the drive.
As they came up to the door, a petite Spanish-looking woman in a maids’ uniform opened it. "Welcome home miss, would you like me to take your things to the west wing?" Kagome shook her head, sighing. "How many times do you guys have to be told? I do have a name. It's Kagome. KA-GO-ME." The maid kept her head down, muttering "Yes miss..."
As Kagome walked on, Sango and Miroku hurried to catch up. "What’s in the west wing?" Miroku asked. "Oh, the west wing is mine, the east wing is Liana's and my fathers." The pair nodded, trying to act normal, when, in fact, they were in awe. Kagome walked over to a large closet, opening the doors revealing an elevator. "I requested this one be put in specifically for my use, because when my father has dinner parties, the other three are always so crowded." She pressed the up button, and with a ding, the doors opened. They stepped in, and Kagome practically punched the small sphere reading 'level three WW'. The doors dinged again, opening up to a large room, covered in posters and random rock paraphernalia.
"Welcome to my humble abode, mi casa es su casa! Hey, you guys hungry, thirsty?" The nod nodded, Sango looking at her extensive collection of DVD's and CD's, Miroku at her killer entertainment center.
Kagome opened another door, which led to a kitchen area with a fridge, sink, dishwasher, stove, toaster, and microwave. Opening the fridge and sitting down Indian-style in front of it she called out "Want a pepperoni pizza? It's Red Barons!" Muffled sounds of agreement were heard. "I've got everything, what do you want to drink?" "Coke." Was the y fry from both. Pulling out a pizza and three cokes, she tossed the drinks to her friends and began preheating the oven. Once the pizza was in the oven, she walked out, plopping down on her bed.
"So, what do you think?" Miroku walked over to a small couch and sat on it, while Sango joined Kagome on the bed. "It's absolutely stupendous! What does your dad do to make this kind of money?" Kagome took a sip of Coke, then answered. "He owns Miko Corporations, a franchise of fast food restaurants, and a couple of other small companies." Their eyes wide with shock, their faces dawning with realization. "So, your father is Ryu Higurashi?" Miroku said. "As in Cosmo's 'Sexiest Self-Made Rich Men of the Year's number two winner?!" Sango exclaimed. Kagome shrugged nonchalantly. "Guess so...Hey, shouldn't we call Inuyasha to make sure he's ok and everything?" Sango gasped. "I completely forgot! Is there a phone I can use?" Kagome nodded, tossing her a small black cordless phone. Pressing the talk button, she jabbed in his number, then waited for an answer.
"Hi Mara, is Inu home?" She spoke in a sickly sweet tone, as if speaking to a small child, having to explain everything. "Yes, I know you're not his keeper, you're just his foster mother, I understand." Sango silently mocked her, moving her lips quickly as if saying 'will you shut up already?' "But could you please check?" A pause. "Ok, you found him? Where was he? The kitchen? Figures. Can I speak to him? Thanks. Ta ta now."
Her tone changed completly now. "Fuck man, you ok? By the way, if my mom calls, tell her that I can't come to the phone, then call me ok?" "Because I told her I'd be at your house, that's why." "Where am I really? At Kagome's."
Suddenly the timer for the pizza went off, sending Kagome running into the kitchen, grabbing oven mitts and pulling the pizza out. Opening a drawer and producing a pizza cutter, she called out "Tell him that he can come over too. He can even stay the night. I've got places for him to sleep." Sango pulled the phone away from her mouth. "K, will do. I doubt he'll want to be home tonight anyway, Mara sounded drunk." She spoke into the phone again, asking him. "He said yeah, but he doesn't have a ride."
"We can go get him, and I'll drive. Tell him we're just gonna eat our pizza, we\ we're off!"
Kagome smiled. Maybe tonight she would have her chance at winning him over. As if God was punishing her for her evil thought, thunder rumbled menacingly in the distance, and rain pitter pattered on her windowsill.
