Summary: Part 69 of The Seven

Prompt Summary: After the battle, Jakotsu heads into town.

A full minute had nearly passed before Jakotsu realized that they were the only ones still firing. Holding up his hand for a moment to gesture for Bankotsu to stop, he sat there waiting in silence for a few seconds to make sure that they were all dead. Deciding that the coast was clear, Jakotsu carefully crouched by the window to be to glance around outside making sure there was no movement.

The scent of gunpowder and blood filled the air and Jakotsu had to force himself not to gag on the stench. Breathing a sigh of relief that it was over, Jakotsu turned and leaned back against the wall; sliding down until he was sitting on the floor. Glancing around his childhood home he noticed the first man that had died that night, along with all of the damage caused by the gunfight, and grumbled to himself about having to clean up after them.

Resting his head back against the wall, Jakotsu closed his eyes for a moment before opening them back up and noticing a light beginning to make its way across the floor. It took him a minute before he realized it was the sun starting to rise. "I need to go inform the sheriff what has happened. I can't take the chance that someone will happen by and report it before I can."

Standing up, Jakotsu unblocked the door and walked around to grab under the man's arms and without having to ask him, Bankotsu headed toward his feet and grabbed a hold of his legs. Heading outside, they dropped him off with the others before turning back to each other. "Stay hidden somewhere in case they have some friends waiting near by for backup and show up to find their buddies dead. I'm gonna borrow your horse and will be back soon," Jakotsu assured him before heading around back for the horse. A few moments later, he was rushing off toward town.
