CHAPTER 62: TEASING THOUGHTS

Sesshoumaru's motorcycle came to a screeching halt, spraying dirt and rock in all directions. He could smell her, her scent still hung heavy in the air. Sesshoumaru ran as fast as his legs could take him. The scent of jasmine mingled with spice ended at the shore line of the lake. 'Damn her!' he cursed as he drove into the water thinking the worse.
And yet, Sesshoumaru refused to believe Kagome had killed herself. He spliced through the water, his golden eyes searching for a body, but one never came into view. A black flip flop was wedged between some rocks at the depth of the lake. It caught his attention from all the other debris that had found its resting place there. This personal item was new and was not covered with the silt or algae caused from the passage of time.
Sesshoumaru turned his body toward the single black foot attire. It had to be Kagome's. He picked hit up in his talon hand and realized that the burning feeling in his lungs demanded that he surface for some air. Sesshoumaru pushed off the floor of the lake and resurfaced out of the water landing on the bank of the pristine shore. His golden eyes glanced around his surroundings. Relief swamped through him as he realized Kagome didn’t kill herself like he had thought. ‘She must have went into the water but why go that far in?’ Sesshoumaru's thoughts teased him unmercifully at what could have happened to Kagome.
His damp clothed person started to walk the outskirt of the lake looking for anything. Searching and smelling for any trace of his Kagome. In the thicket of forest trees outline nearly the lake fresh muddy partial foot prints can be seen.

The door to Inuyasha living place opened with an urgent swing, letting the lusting couple in. Inuyasha shred his business jacket all the while fumbling for the door, trying to shut it. Naraku tried to reach for Kagome again and the ring flared to life with a surge in power. Naraku shrunk away, but smiled as a thought came to him. “Kagome take the ring off.” He ordered thinking his command would be carried out.
Kagome was struggling inside at the darkness which was filing her soul with evil. In an attempt to turn her against everything she held dear. Sinister waves of loathing painted over her portrait of her life’s memories. Naraku tainted the images, all of them. The vibrant colorful memories started to bleed into dull grays and blacks as it poisoned her against the happy memories of her past. However a small ray of light called for Kagome to fight.

His voice cut through the shroud that fogged up her mind. The lifeless gray blue eyes seemed to regain the black irises in small pooled pinpricks. "Sessho-” was all Kagome whispered out weakly.
Naraku could sense her repossessing her trapped soul. 'NO!!!' he thought, ‘I will not be stopped. I will have her.' Naraku could feel Sesshoumaru’s incoming at a fast rate of speed. If he didn’t act now all would be lost.
Kagome brought her hand up to her mate marking and rubbed it. Her vision was now registering in her semiconscious mind as the fog that shrouded her mind lifted. There stood Naraku in front of her dressed in some funny clothes and behind him a car no more then 10 feet away.
Naraku extended one of his fingers letting the nail enlarge, and as it did so, a clear liquid began to form at the tip. It dripped a poison that would cause paralysis, and in large doses it could stop the muscles of the body from working. Even the heart.
The hand Kagome still had held out to Naraku was stretched out with her palm facing up.
