Waiting...

Don’t own Inuyasha.

I kind of rushed posting this chapter, so if there is any misspelling or other errors...sue me.

She stared into to the fire, straight into his golden eyes. His eyes held contempt, curiuosity, but most of all sympathy. It made her sick. Why did he have to stare at her like that? She did not want his sympathy; she did not wanted anyone’s sympathy. But that was what she got from the entire group
Th
They would gaze upon her as if she was some lost pup, being extra nice to her, overly gentle. Damn it, she would be matriarch of her own pack within a few weeks; she was not weak. She did not need anyone’s sympathy. Especially not from the dysfunctional group she was stuck with.

A growl of derision escaped her as her eyes drifted to the miko. Lilac intertwined with blue. She was the girl he supposedly loved. What made her special? It couldn’t be her hair, although thick, it was slightly stringy and didn’t have any real body. It could not be her eyes, though large and innocent, they held no real depth or luscious color.

It could not be her body; she was still filling out and retained a lot of her girlish figure. But her skin was a pleasant pale cream, seemingly smooth and flawless. Her scent was appealing, she smelt of cherry blossoms and pine, but it seemed a little artificial. Then there was her personality, it was enlightening to say the least. She was witty, had a sharp tongue, compassionate, easygoing and strong willed.

It had to be her personality if nothing else.

Alica sighed, there was no point beating herself up over trivial things.

Kagome let out a breath of relief when Alice finally turned her eyes back to the fire. She did not like the way she was being stared at by the demon; it made the hairs on the nape of her neck stand on ends. Ever since Inuyasha informed her that Kagome was the focusKougKouga’s infatuation, things got tense between the two females. Kagome didn’t sense any hostility from Alica, but there was contempt and resentment. For the most part Kagome was dumbfound as to why Kouga didn’t find Alica attractive?

She had unfathomable beauty.

Alica had long, thick, tresses of crimson hair, spilling wildly down her back in waves. She had sharp, oval features, high cheekbones complementing her straight nose and round chin. Her forehead was slightly broad, accenting her delicate, arched eyebrows and majestic lilac eyes.

The curves and shape of her body were flawless; she was toned acutely to completely insinuate her feminine attributes. Not to mention her sharp ears, slightly protruding fangs, and wolfish traits giving her a surreal appeal. Kagome found herself slightly awed and envious of the demon across the fire from her and wondered if Kouga seen then same goddess as she did.

“What are you thinking about?” Inuyasha’s quiet voice brokeoughough her thoughts.

“About Kouga,” she whispered even lower, leaning towards Inuyasha to further conceal their conversation. “He acted so strangely, so distant and cold. I have never seen him quite like that before.”

Inuyasha nodded his head in understanding. How would Kagome know what was going on if he didn’t understanlf olf of it himself? He understood that somehow Kouga and Alica bonded, but how and why eluded him. Inuyasha also understood that the bond was not an ordinary bond. Something was fishy about it and he didn’t want Kagome or any other members of his pack anywhere near it. He would prefer that the bitch left his camp so he could put the matter behind him, but…

For reasons beyond his control he was…concerned for Kouga. Yeah he knew Kouga had been after Kagome for a while, which was a big irritation. Kouga was also annoying beyond belief, and even more arrogant then himself and Miroku put together. But, Kouga always had his back when he really needed. Under all those layers of being an asshole Kouga was not a bad person, just really, really annoying. That’s why Inuyasha let Alica stick around; he personally wanted to make sure things turned out alright…for Kagome’s sake anyway.

“I think something is wrong,” Inuyasha finally replied, thinking back to their last encounter with the wolf. The way he had spoken to Kagome, the dark aura that had surround him, his indigo stare of forbidding. “Maybe we should ask Alica some questions?”

“No,” Kagome sighed dejectedly. “I don’t think it’s any of our business. But—”

“It’s impolite to whisper,” Alica said in an annoyed tone. She was well past suspicious as well as curious. “Let me in on the big secret?”

“We were just wondering why Kouga was treating you like his bitch?” Inuyasha stated flatly, and yelped when Kagome elbowed him in the ribs. “What was that for? It’s the truth, he was acting like she was his bitch, Ouch!?”

“Could you reframe for using such a word?” Kagome said through clenched teeth, ready to use the magical word that would make him to comply.

“Feh. You mean bitch? I don’t know what they teach you in your sk-hoo-ls, but bitch is the proper way to address a female wolf or dog. It doesn’t mean any disrespect,” he grumbled irritably.

“Well, where I come from it is a statement of disrespect,” she corrected stubbornly.

“Well, I can see why,” Alica said bemused. “Since you’re ner wor wolf or dog. And for the record. I. Am. Not. Kouga’s. Bitch. It seems he had taken an interest in another.”

Kagome blushed and looked away, while Inuyasha ‘Fehed’ and folded his arms over his chest. Alica sighed looking back into the fire. Why was she still here? She had important things to do a) she had to find that damn cave, b) she had to find a way to reverse this accursed bond, c) she had to get word to her pack and tell them she was ok. But, Inuyasha would not let her leave, for some reason. Just thinking about it made her angry. The mark on her lower abdomen contained a bulk of her power, and she was not strong enough to defeat Inuyasha and flee. It was utterly infuriating.

“Why can I not leave?” she asked quietly.

“Kouga said he would come for you tomorrow night,” Kagome said absentmindedly, but then realized her mistake and covered her mouth.

“Thanks big mouth,” Inuyasha growled.

“So, you’re working with him?” Alica growled getting to her feet. “Do you have any idea what he will do to me!?”

“Calm down,” Kagome said nervously, looking between the two demons. “Kouga will not hurt you, he—”

“Did you see what he did to me the last time?!” Alica practically yelled, eyeing Inuyasha with a deadly glare. He was the only one to somewhat understand her situation and yet he was about to hand her over to the enemy. She growled. “That was nothing compared to what he will do to me when he has me alone.”

The commotion of their argument woke two members of the group. Slowly Miroku and Sango aroused from their sleep, eyeing the three contemptuously. After realizing Alica and Inuyasha was at it again they slowly went back to sleep. The tension slowly diminished as the three continue to stare at each other, not really knowing what to say. Finally Inuyasha could not stand the silence.

“Look,” he sighed dispassionately. “I will make Kouga give his word not to harm you. But Kagome gave her word that we would look after you until he comes.”

“You word means shit to me,” she said evilly as she sat dowonteontemplating her options. “And Kouga already gave his word to see me dead.”
