Kikyo's Discovery

A/N: Hehehe... it's been, what, a decade? GOMEN!!! I have just NOT had enough time lately, and to add to that, my computer broke down! And in all honesty, I kinda had a severe case of writer's block for this story. I am so sorry, please forgive me! I know you guys have probably put me on your blacklist or something, but I really want to make it up to you all, so I am gonna update twice every week from now on. GOMEN!!!! But honestly, that's the best I can do. Gah! I am so slow.

Anyway, here it is... the next chap of this fic. I have to admit though... I have been kind of neglecting this fic in favor of my other story. It's just that I can't help but think that nobody actually reads this fic of mine, and Seven Weeks at least has quite a number of reviews. Gomen again!!!

And, I have only watched up to episode 106, so if I have made any mistakes, gomen! Here's the chap!

Disclaimer: I do not own anything. I barely own my own time, god dammit!

FEVERISH

--- -----/---@

If viewed from a distance, one would think that he was seeing a few wisps of white smoke hanging above the trees. But try to look closer... closer still... and one would find that the thin, floating streams of translucent white are not clouds at all. Oh no "“ they were anything but natural.

One of the thin wisps slowly glided down, clutching an orb of pure white light in its jaws. The creature flew into the dense thickness of the trees, searching for his mistress, searching for the others of his kind. Upon finding his mistress, he released the orb of light from his mouth, letting it drop eerily onto the woman, before leaving to find his companions.

Kikyo looked up as she felt one of her shinidimachu approach from above. The misty youkai released the doomed soul upon her, and she accepted it, holding out her palms, and took the spirit into her body.

The undead miko turned her gaze to the sky, watching the clouds slowly shift shape. It was still early in the afternoon, about a couple of hours after midday. The sky was blue, the sun golden, the treetops thick, almost as it had looked when she was still alive.

"˜Fifty years,' she thought. "˜One would hardly think that fifty years had passed. Everything looks the same. *I* look the same. But looks can be deceiving.'

She walked on once again, the usual serene expression on her face as she went down a familiar path. She had been walking aimlessly, not even realizing where she was headed until she stood right before it "“ the Goshinboku.

The tree meant so much to her. It was where she used to spend many of her days, resting or just sitting on its base whenever her tasks for the day were over. It was also where she had met and killed Inuyasha.

"˜Inuyasha,' she thought wistfully, slowly tracing her fingers over the rough indentation in the tree, the mark that Inuyasha had unknowingly left on the bark. The same way that he had left a mark on her heart.

Oh, she loved him, and always would, but there was always one thing that she wanted from him "“ for him to be human. Kikyo, the powerful miko who guarded the Shikon no Tama, would not be touched, would not be tainted by a youkai.

She was taken from her musings when she heard laughter come from somewhere to her right. She began to reach for her bow when she recognized who the voice belonged to.

"Kagome," she whispered the voice's name to herself, and had begun to walk towards her for a depressing little chat when she heard another voice join in the laughter. The new voice was deep and husky, laughing lightly as he verbally listed profanities. Kikyo stiffened as she realized who the voice belonged to.

She quickly ran for a nearby brush, her curiosity getting the better of her as she immediately decided to watch and eavesdrop. What was he laughing about? He had never laughed when they were together! She crouched down, knowing full well that the earth beneath her feet would do well in hiding her scent of ash, bones and clay.

"Inuyasha! That was not what I meant!" Kagome mock argued with a smile.

"I know! I was teasing, you know!" Inuyasha replied, rolling his eyes.

"˜Inuyasha, teasing?' Kikyo thought in surprise.

She gasped softly when the pair finally came into view.

Inuyasha had an arm around Kagome's waist, helping her walk on unsteady legs. The girl's arms were around the hanyou's neck, holding onto him for balance.

"But honestly, you should have been more careful!" Kagome said, smacking the boy's nose with three fingers. "I'm not as hard and tough as you are, and you know it."

"Aw, come on Kagome! I said I was sorry. Besides," Inuyasha replied playfully, before a slightly lecherous grin formed on his lips.

Kikyo stared. "˜I had never seen him smile like that..." but her train of thought was cut off when she heard what he said next.

"You didn't mind the roughness while we were doing it. And you know you like it rough..." he snickered suggestively, causing Kagome's face to turn bright red.

Kikyo, on the other hand, choked on her own breath. "˜What did he...?'

"Oi, did you hear that, Kag-chan?" Inuyasha asked after Kikyo sucked in a large gulp of breath. He began to sniff and look around, searching for the source of the disembodied sound.

Kagome looked at him questioningly. "I didn't hear anything, Inu-chan."

"Keh," Inuyasha muttered. "I shouldn't have asked. I nearly forgot how pathetic your human senses are."

"I heard that."

Kikyo put a hand over her mouth to stifle any more possible outbursts. She HAD to know what they were talking about! And why was Inuyasha calling that wench "˜Kag-chan'?! He had never called her "˜Kikyo-chan'! And by what she heard so far, have they...

"But really. My thighs hurt! I feel so bruised all over!" Kagome complained, clutching his haori with one hand. "Plus, I think you scratched my right breast."

Thank the gods for her hand on her mouth! Without it, Kikyo would have let out another small shriek. "˜Her breast!? Does this mean that those two have really...'

"I did?" he asked suddenly, concern filling his compelling golden eyes. He reached a hand out and lightly cupped Kagome's right breast, causing Kikyo to gasp into her hand as the other girl blushed scarlet. Why were those two acting so... so... intimate? Inuyasha's next words answered her fears and questions for her.

"If you feel THAT agitated by our activities," he began seriously, "Would you rather that we never fuck again, then? That would be really hard, but if you really don't want to..."

Impossible tears suddenly began to form around the edges of Kikyo's eyes. "˜So they HAVE mated,' she thought solemnly as she watched the slowly trudging pair. Jealousy and anger filled her eyes, and she clutched her free hand into a tight fist. "˜That bastard... he has totally moved on! He... he forgot about me!'

"Mou, it's not that!" Kagome replied, kissing Inuyasha's nose in a pacifying manner. "What I was originally saying, before we went so far off track, was that maybe it wasn't such a good idea to do it so soon after the first time. I'm still sore from last night."

Inuyasha grinned widely, and was about to open his mouth for a retort when Kagome suddenly said, "And don't call it "˜fuck'. That's a bad word for what we did."

Inuyasha stopped walking, then looked at Kagome curiously. Ironically enough for Kikyo, he just HAD to pause almost directly in front of the bush she was hiding behind. "What would you call it?"

Kagome looked at him tenderly. She lifted a hand and gently placed it on Inuyasha's cheek before she looked deep into his eyes and softly spoke. "I would call it, "˜making love'..." she replied.

Ki€™s €™s strongly withheld tears began to fall.

"Making love..." Inuyasha muttered thoughtfully, placing a hand on the one on his cheek. He looked down at Kagome before smiling and saying, "Making love... that does sound better. It's more applicable too... because between the two of us, it's what we create, ne?"

"Hai," she said, before drawing his face down for a sweet, lingering kiss. Kikyo clenched her eyes shut, not wanting to witness their intimate display of love. She opened her eyes again when Kagome once again began to speak.

"We love each other, and what I have in my womb, right now, is the product of our love, ne?"

"Aa," the hanyou replied, placing a gentle, clawed hand on her belly. "Our child. Kagome, I love you so much," he said before he leaned down and lightly kissed her lips again. "I will never leave you. You're the only one I love. More than I love life, more than I ever loved Kikyo... we will never be apart."

At what he said, Kikyo knew that she could take no more. She fled from her hiding spot and dashed off into the deeper parts of the forest that bore her love's name. Tears fell from her eyes like arentrent, putting a waterfall to shame. All her life, she had tried to show absolutely no emotion, but now, as she watcher ler love fall for another, even as a dead woman, her barrier just broke, and all her emotions poured from her uncontrollably.

She cried her heart out as she never before had done, sobbing out the hanyou's name. She could feel her energy wavering, and knew that her exertion had all but worn out the last soul that she had taken in. She didn't care. She ran on, not looking back, tearing at the white strip that bound her hair. She reached behind her and grabbed the bow and quiver on her back, flinging the weapons away as she continued to run.

Her legs began to burn, and she wished for more pain, hoping that the unease would help drown out the words that he had spoken to her reincarnation. Especially his last few words.

* "I will never leave you. You're the only one I love. More than I love life, more than I ever loved Kikyo... we will never be apart." *

Those words continued to echo in her mind, burned forever into her memory. She doubted that she would ever forget those horribly painful words.

Her sobs grew louder as she reached the bank of a certain deep river. She dropped down on her knees and hunched over the riverbank. She looked down at her reflection, and for a moment, thought she saR. HR. Her bangs, unruly from her run and the sudden ripping off of the white band that bound it, made her hair look stunningly like...

"I am KIKYO!" she cried, slapping her palms angrily, forcefully against the surface of the water. She buried her face into her hands and cried, and looked up just as the water began to calm once again. Her eyes narrowed as she looked at herself in the water, reaching out to touch her own image.

"˜Is this how she felt... when Inuyasha still loved me?' she thought sadly, her hand hovering about an inch above the water. Just then, another angry, jealous thought occurred to her.

"˜Or DID he still love me when I was resurrected? Did he just feel indebted to me? Was he merely feeling guilty for my death? Was it sympathy?' she thought, in anger, clutching the hem of her blood red robes.

Hatred began to boil in her as she continued to stare at herself in the water. "He broke my heart again..." she said to herself quietly, lifting a hand to slowly smooth back her hair. "He is responsible for EVERYTHING that ever happened to me!" she said more loudly, the tears standing in her eyes. "He doesn't deserve to be happy with HER! He should be with ME!"

She knew that she was letting selfish want take over, but she thought herself cheated. He had PROMISED to go to hell with her...

"And he would keep that promise. I would make him... if it's the last thing I do..."

A/N: What an evil bitch I made Kikyo out to be... but honestly, this is necessary for the plot that I had in mind.

To be quite honest, I had a bad case of writer's block for this fic because this was originally meant to be a one-shot lemon. I had originally posted the first chap on ff.net, and I had so many requests to continue that I just HAD to yield, Anyway, some snitch reported me, so the story was booted from ff.net.

And because this was meant as a one-shot, I had a serious problem as to what to do about a plot. It took me a while to think of a good one, and now that I finally have a plot, and TIME, I could continue this fic! YAY!

Anyway, please REVIEW! Thank you all so much for reading, or even visiting this story, and I am working on the next chapter RIGHT NOW, so it wouldn't take me three months to get the next one out. Besides, I promised to post at least TWICE every week, ne?

Arigatou again for reading! Please review! Ja!
