A Golden Hope
Disclamer: I DONT OWN THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Inu yasha's feet barley touched the ground as he flew through the forest. The only thing going through Inu yashas mind was vision of Kagomes dead body, floating in the lake. He tried to shake this thought from his head as he rushed tword her location.
'Hold on Kagome Im almost there' he thought to himself. He could smell her fear, she was terrified of something, he could only guess of what. But what horrified him to no end was the fact that he could also smell the fresh scent of human blood mingeld with her own. More thoughts flew through his head, what if he didnt reach her in time, or worrse what if he did and she died right in front of him. He couldnt let that happen. He couldnt tolorate lossing her now, she ment to much to him, he would never forgive himself, never.
Kagome wrapped her right arm tightly around the base of the treee as she realised her death grip with the left. She extended her shaking hand as she attempted to grab her flashlight.
'Just a bit farther' she told herself as she fully extended her left arm. She could touch the flashlight but only with the tip of her middle finger. It was no use it was just out of her reach. She held the tree with both of her arms as she peared over her shoulder. She could not see the creatures that held her, only their rigid claws that tore at her bleeding flesh. The innsessive clicking grew louder as her blood began to pool below her wounds. Her legs where being sucked into the darkness as the dark shadow grew closer to her face. She knew that she was dead for sure if she was completly coverd in the shadow that grew closer with her every breath. As the darkness consumed her inch by fatal inch she found herself unable to think about her uncertain fate, no, the only one in her mind was Inu yasha. The only thing she feared at that crucial moment, was that she would die before she was able to confess her true feelings for him. Tears swelled in her eyes, not from pain, but from heartache. If she died now her secret would die with her, and he would never know. Why had she been so stupid, why had she waited until the moment of her death to want to tell him. As she closed her eyes preparing for the eternal darkness a image of hope displayed itself like a small flame in the endless shadows. Those eyes, those golden orbs that had once been cold and cruel, shown before her now as an omen of live. She couldnt say if she was dreaming or not, she could barley breath as she was overcome by a feeling of desperation. She had to live, if for nothing but to see those golden eyes which could brighten the darkest night and stare straight into her very soul. Her vision became blurred as she held tight to the tree that was her only chance. She had to hold on, she couldnt leave him now, she didnt want to leave him now. She wanted to be held in his warm and protective arms as he stared at her with his eyes of hope. She wanted to be compforted by him, if only one last time. To feel his touch, to hear the sound of his gentle heart beat, to feel his presence near her, to experiance this one more time would be enough for her. She could die happy if only to be with him one last time. Her heart beat slowed as her breath caught in her chest. She was cold, so cold as she stared into those eyes. Her skin was pale and her lips were blue, those eyes were the only thing that kept her from letting go. In her mind she coulill ill see his face. Her breathing slowed down to a level so low that if not for her grip on the tree one would think her dead. The tears streamed down her face, then as if her prayer had been answered there he was. Hallucenation or not, it was enough. She allowed herself to drift away into a sea of blackness, as she closed her eyes the last thing she saw was a blig lig light.
" I-Inu......yasha" she said so low that not even the most senstive of ears could not have heard her. Her eyes shut tight as she let go off the tree that she had clung to for dear life.
