Chapter 6
First Days

Today is the First day of my sophomore year in High School. I already know I will not fit in. The kids that will be at this school are all trust fund babies that have not worked a real day in their lives and probably will never. A hard day at work for these people will be sitting behind a desk filled with paperwork and while it may be mentally tiring it is nothing compared to the physical effects of work have of the common folk. I am not saying that I know what it is like to get down and dirty either, but I have saved the world. Not many teens can say they walked through time and saved not only the past but the present and future as well. There was no cars, no motor anything. If you wanted to get somewhere and did not have a horse you were walking. We walked for nearly 10 hours a day with only short breaks in between for over a year while fighting demons. That could count for more then the normal physical effects of a commoner day job.

Since the eventful walk in the woods nothing too excited had happened since; nothing to delay the inevitable first day of school. Since my adventures are over it was time to move on and make myself a life in the future. It would also seem that my involvement in the past also insured that I would have a successful future. I can’t believe I was so worried about what my life would become when that was over.

--------------------------

The first thing that became noticeable when Kagome took that first step into the grounds of her new school and that was its extravagance. Not many students dwelled in the entrance area which made Kagome wonder if there was some other place on the grounds that serve as a hangout until the first bell.

Finding the office again was easy it just took more time to maneuver around the other bodies that were littering the calls. She just had to sign in and receive her classes then she could get to homeroom.

The office only house 5 people 3 females and 2 males easily distinguished by their clothing. None were trying to gain the attention of the woman standing behind the desk however so I approached her slowly. “Hi, my name is Kagome Taisho I was told to come here and get my schedule. I’m a sophomore.” I said in a pleasant tone with a smile.

“Oh! Yes of course I have you papers right here.” The woman said as she leaned down and took a folder from one of the shelves. With an out reached hand the woman offered me the folder while she said “Here it is. There is also a map so you don’t get lost.”

Accepting the folder I gave her my thanks and opened it to see what my classes are and where my homeroom was before I walked out of the office with another “Thank You”.

Unfolding the map Kagome looks for room 202 and sees that it is on the second floor. I began to walk while I was looking at the map trying to find the quickest route when I walked into something sturdy. I knew immediately that I had walked into someone so with an embarrassed flush I lifted my eyes only to gasp in surprise. “Sorry about that, Mori right?”

He looked just the same as the last time only this time he was wearing the school uniform. “Aa, Kagome-chan”

It was in that moment his company made himself known. He was short and blonde he looked like an adorable child holding his stuffed rabbit. “Hi I’m Mitsukuni Haninozuka, but everyone calls me Honey. How do you know Takashi?”

I smile at the cute boy and reply “we met not that long ago, I was injured and he helped me.” I turned my eyes too look at Mori again “thanks for that by the way.”

He nodded but said nothing else and I moved to excuse myself “Well I have to find my homeroom, god only knows how long it will take me.” I laughed nervously while rubbing the back of my neck. “Um, it was nice seeing you again Mori-sempai:” I said as I stepped around him to make my escape.

“We can help you Kagome-chan, where is your homeroom?” Honey asked before I could get away and I almost sighed.

I did not want to get into too much of a discussion with these people as nice as they were. I can not have them asking questions about how I ended up in the condition I was found in only to be seen not long later with not a scratch to show I had been attacked in the first place. “Oh no, I don’t want to be a bother. I have a map so I would be able to find it fine. Thanks anyway though it was nice of you to offer.” I said with a smile and once again made and attempt to escape. They let me this time, but I can tell they were watching me as I walked away.

I was right finding the room was not too difficult all the doors were numbered so it was easy to just follow the numbers until I found the room. Other students had already accumulated into the classroom and was sitting or standing in the room chatting. They all seemed to go quiet when I walked in though. It was a bit unnerving to have all this attention directed at me. The first to approach me was a group of 3 girls all asking who I was. I replied with an easy smile “I’m Kagome Taisho I am new here.”

“Your Taisho-sama’s heir?” Asked one of the girls with a clear case of envy.

“Is it true you were adopted?” another of the girls asked not even a breath after the first.

“What is Taisho-sama like? I heard he was really mean.” Another asked second after the second.

I shifted uncomfortably under all the attention and answered as calmly as I could “Yes, Yes, and its true he is mean, well at least he is to those he deems unworthy of anything but that kind of attitude.” The bell rang and I exhaled in relief ‘thank god for small favors.’ I thought as I took an empty seat.

The teacher walked into the class room and sat at his desk getting the attendance sheet ready to do roll call. “Good Morning everyone we have a new student this year Kagome Taisho please raise your hand.” He said looking up at the students.

I raised my hand blush rising to my cheeks with all the attention. ‘Would this day get any worse?’ I thought to myself as I lowered my hand and placed them back on the desk. Out the corner of my eyes I saw that I still hold the attention of 2 people in the room twins by the looks of them.

They must have noticed me noticing their stare and moved to introduce themselves. “Hi I’m Hikaru and this is Kaoru we are the Hitachiin twins.” He said almost dramatically taking a pose.

I looked at them individually so I could see their aura and be able to tell which is which. I knew from personal experience that people do not like to be called by other people’s names even if it was there twin. Hikaru had a pale yellow aura and Kaoru had an orange one easy enough to tell apart. “Hello Hikaru Kaoru I’m Kagome Taisho” I offered naming them off correctly.

The bell dismissing homeroom rang not long after and Hikaru offered to show me to my next class. I agreed and thanked him politely; I had no problem following them since they had the same class as me next. It never hurt to make friends and these two seemed like fun.
