Reunited Worlds

Chapter Six:

It was a bad dream that woke Inutaisha from her sleep. She had been having them lately. The dreams had kept her from having a good night sleep over the past few weeks. She dreamt of crimson eyes and dark feminine and masculine laughter. She knew in her heart of hearts that Naraku and Naraka were alive. She knew that if she did not stop them then they would make everyone's life a living hell. Inutaisha was not going to risk them coming back to full power.

Her eyes took in the deep blue color of the sky as she listened for any kind of movement. She turned her head to look at Kagoru. A smile touched her lips as she took in his visage. He held their two children in each arm. His shirt was slightly open, due to the warm night. His long, dark hair was spread over a pillow, making him look innocent in her eyes. She loved her husband. There was no doubt in it.

They had talks of raising more children, but not while Naraka and Naraku were back. Besides, Mirra and Kagome were pregnant. Two pregnant females were worse than one, especially if both were humans. It made the mothering instinct fire up even worse in her. She knew that if they had any chance, it was time for her to go after them. Even if she did not like the prospect.

She hated the thought of leaving Kagoru with the others, but she had to protect them. They were her family and her only family at that. She looked at the sky again, it's hue considerably lighter. That was it, she decided she would have to go it alone for their safety.

"No." Kagoru said firmly. "You're not going it alone Inutaisha. I don't care what you say."

"Try to see it my way Kagoru." Inutaisha growled at him, her sudden anger causing him to flinch. "I have to do this because they are after me. You are not safe, neither the children. You have to take care of them and the females. Besides, I won't be alone. Sessha will be with me."

"Please Inutaisha. Don't do this. Don't leave when we can work and make a plan like last time."

"No." She told him, "Kagoru, you have to understand that I have to hunt them down. I don't know how long it will take, but regardless, everyone would slow me down."

"They want you alone." Kagoru said. "Please Inutaisha...I lost you once."

"You won't lose me to anything. Least not those two." Inutaisha stated. She pressed a fiery kiss against his lips while pressing him up against a shaded tree. It had been a terribly long time since Inutaisha had taken a dominant position with Kagoru over anything. She preferred him being a father and taking that role like he should, but she was a half-demon and marrying a human had not quelled the desire to be dominate. She felt Kagoru's hands in her hair as their tongues met then she pulled back to allow air between the two.

"Please Inutaisha, don't leave me. I would worry for you."

"Kagoru, I love you so much. You know that I have to do this."

"There is something telling me that you shouldn't go without someone."

"I told you..."

"Sessha isn't enough!" He interrupted her.

"Kagoru, listen, this has to be done." She looked at him and saw his concerned eyes.

He lowered his head. "I know."

She pulled him into her arms. "I love you Kagoru. You know that, but I cannot allow Naraka or Naraku to harm you. I would rather die for you and our children then allow either of you to get hurt."

"You're a mother Inutaisha."

Her eyes caught his, hard gold glancing into deep blue eyes. "I know. If I don't do this then someone can get hurt."

"Mainly you." Kagoru argued.

Inutaisha glared at him, "I don't care if I do. You're worth it."

Kagoru felt defeated, he wanted so much to tell her not to do what she was thinking of, but he could not. He could deny her no longer. "I wish you wouldn't go."

Inutaisha put her arms around Kagoru's neck and gently kissed his lips. "I know Kagoru, but this must be done. For everyone's sake."

"I know Inutaisha. I love you." He then gently touched her lips with his. His lips pressing harder as she pressed back. His lips parted and her tongue entered, their tongues entwining before Inutaisha pulled back.

She replied, "I love you too."

Inutaisha gathered a pack of supplies to carry with her. Sessha was with her bidding the other farewell. She didn't want to leave Kagoru and her babies behind, but she wanted Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru to be the ones to protect the others while they were gone.

She held her children in her arms and listened to them cry softly for her. It broke her heart to make her children be without her for a while. She would miss Ichiro biting her ears and Shizuka cuddling up against her. She gave the two to their father and told them, "Be good for your father. I will be back soon." She then addressed Kagoru, "I love you Kagoru. Don't you forget that. I will be back as soon as I get rid of them."

Kagome grasped Inutaisha's arm, "Be careful."

"Don't worry Kagome, you all have to stay behind. I can't have you or Mirra coming with us. It is too dangerous." Inutaisha replied.

She nodded slowly at her. "Be safe Inutaisha."

"Don't worry. Sessha and I are tough. We can handle ourselves."

Kagoru hugged her again, he tightened his arm around her waist not wanted to release her. When he pulled away he said, "You better be careful or I will subdue you so many times that you will regret leaving."

Inutaisha raised an eyebrow at him. "I believe it." She told him then kissed him one more time. "I love you."

Sessha then looked at her as if to say, 'Come on.' She then turned towards her sister and bounded off, glancing backwards one final time as her friends and family waved at her. Inutaisha then glanced forward and narrowed her eyes. 'We will get them.' She thought to herself.
