A Party They'll Never Forget
His tuxedo jacket slipped over his broad shoulders as Sesshomaru was finishing getting ready for that night. He rolled his eyes as he heard a fuss coming from the bathroom. “Kagome, if you don’t stop your fussing over every detail, we will be late.” Even without all the make-up and the dress, in his eyes, she was perfect. He had yet to give her the jewelry he had bought earlier that day, and was starting to think she wouldn’t accept them. Was he being to bold?
Her sweet voice, with a hint of frustration, echoed from the door to the bathroom. “That’s easy for you to say! All you have to do is put on a nice suit and brush out your hair!” After a few more minutes of scuffling he heard only silence. Turning towards the bathroom, he heard her voice again. “Alright, I’m coming out. And don’t you dare laugh.” The door opened slowly and there stood the same beauty but magnified a thousand times more than he ever thought possible. His jaw almost dropped when she began walking towards him.
She was so graceful in her step; even in heels she kept her balance. As she neared him, he saw her sparkling sapphire eyes were full of such strong emotion that even the deepest seas couldn’t contain it. His amber pools of fire, burned through to her core and his resonant voice made her shiver. “Why ever would I laugh at a creature of beauty such as this?” He revealed a fang as he smirked, seeing her blush. He circled behind her and bent down to whisper in her ear.
“Close your eyes..” His heated breath caused shivers to go down her spine and she obeyed his command. Taking the sapphire necklace from his pocket he raised his arms above her head and lowered the necklace so the moon shaped pendant rested on her bare skin. She gasped as the cool stone touched her chest and Sesshomaru finished with the clasp. “Alright, you can open your eyes.” He stepped in front of her to meet her eyes as they opened. “And these are a gift.” He held out the matching earrings in the box.
She stared at the gems in his hand and slowly took ahold of them in a daze. Putting them in her ears she looked up at him. She couldn’t think of anything to say that would mean enough to thank him. He smiled and shook his head. “You don’t have to say anything.” He placed his hands lightly on her shoulders and leaned closer to her. “You deserve to be beautiful.” He moved closer. “You are beautiful.” His lips touched her forehead gently and it seemed to last a lifetime before he stepped back from her. “Now shall we go?”
She nodded without thinking and he took her hand, leading her out of the suite. As they stepped into the elevator and the doors closed, he watched her closely. “If this is all too much for you, all you have to do is say it is such.”
She shook her head slightly. “I just don’t know what to say. You’ve been so kind to me. My whole life is going to be different. Being a live-in secretary. Having my family taken care of.” She brought her hand up to the pendant around her neck. “Having all this special treatment, just for one occasion. It’s all very overwhelming but, it’s so-” She stopped for a moment but then her eyes brightened again. “-exhilarating!”
“Heh..” Trying his best not to laugh, he nodded and smiled ever so slightly. He understood what she meant, even if she didn’t. After a moment the doors opened and they made their way to the limo once again waiting for them outside. Opening the door for her, she slipped in first, and he stepped in close after her, knowing that if they stalled much longer his father would harass him to no end.
Even though the club was right down the street it took them longer than they had expected. He glanced out the window and guessed it was the traffic; after all they were in New York. “I apologize in advance for what my father will accuse us of when we get there.”
She turned from her place at the window. “What do you mean? Your father seemed really sweet to me. Well, besides the whole thing with the honeymoon suite.” She laughed a bit recalling the memory of her boss exclaiming in the lobby.
“Trust me; my father is a dirty old man. He only acts sweet around young girls.” He grumbled low. “Pervert.”
“I’m sure it will be fine, Taisho-san.” She assured him with a smile as the limousine came to a stop. When the door opened, the limo was consumed with waves of loud music. He flinched ever so slightly as his sensitive hearing made the music painful to bear. Stepping out onto the concrete, he held out his hand for her. She took his hand and he hoisted her up gently, but as soon as the light reached her, her hands went up to her face.
The flashing lights of the club were irritating to him as well but they seemed to not allow her to see at all. Moving closer to her, his muscular shadow stood above her, blocking the light from reaching her eyes. “Follow me inside. The lights are only on out here.” She nodded and followed close behind him. Stopping just before he reached the door, he felt her bump into him. Looking out from behind him, she saw that the bouncer had stopped him.
“Private party. No invite, no entrance.” The guard was bigger than him in bulk and might have been a threat had he not been the demon he was.
He closed his smoldering amber eyes and spoke with a low voice. “My father is the one hosting this – for lack of a more appropriate word, party.” When he opened his eyes again they burned a deep blood red. “This Sesshomaru does not need an invitation to anything!” In a flash, he had the bouncer pinned to the wall, the claws of his left hand dripping poison only inches from his face. A growl resounded from deep in his chest and his fangs elongated. “Are you brave enough to deny me again?”
The man kept a straight face as he shook his head, though his body shook violently, giving him away. “Good.” Sesshomaru threw the man aside like he was nothing and took her hand again, leading her inside. He felt her hand shaking in his and turned to face her. She looked afraid and was shocked to see that his eyes had returned to normal. He stopped and released her with a look of sorrow in his eyes. “You’re afraid of what I am capable of doing?”
She opened her mouth to respond but found only silence. Looking to the ground, she didn’t know how to answer him. Suddenly she felt his arms around her. “I never meant to frighten you. As a full demon, my strength overwhelms humans and I forget.” He squeezed her tightly once, and then let her go. “I apologize. Don’t be afraid. I would never hurt you.” She finally got up the courage to look him in the eyes and saw that he truly meant every word.
“It’s alright. It was kinda funny seeing such a big guy scared that much.” She smiled and this time she took him by the hand, leading him away to the dance floor before he could see the flicker of hurt in her eyes as she knew that his kindness would never mean anything more than what it was. A fast song started booming through the speakers and more couples came onto the dance floor. She turned to him with a bright smile. “Care to dance?”
He nodded and spun her around allowing her to start dancing. And dance she did. She spun and twisted her heart out like she would never get the chance again. He was too busy watching her to notice the presence of another demon behind him. “So what took you so long to get here, hmm? Get held up having too much fun?”
He stopped dead and turned to face his father. “You’re lucky you kept your youthful looks or else you would be getting slapped left and right for being a crusty old pervert.”
“Thanks, I love you too Son. Now I have some people that want to meet you, can I pull you away for a few?” Sesshomaru looked over his shoulder to see she hadn’t noticed his father. Assuming she would be fine on her own for a little while, he followed his father out of the crowd. She continued dancing without noticing his disappearance for the better part of ten minutes.
In the middle of her third fast song in a row she felt a light tap on her shoulder. “Oh, Taish-“ Her sentence trailed off as she turned around and realized that it was not him who had gotten her attention. It was another young man with demonic features, but with long black hair, and dark eyes.
“I beg your pardon miss. I couldn’t help but notice you weren’t dancing with anyone and I came to ask you for a dance.” She was running on an adrenaline high and didn’t notice his menacing smile when she agreed to a slow song. “Thank you for your company. My name is Naraku Hiroshi.” He held out his hand to her and when her fingers touched his, he brought her close to him. He rested his hands on her lower back and started to sway a bit. She was somewhat uncomfortable with this man she had just met holding her so closely, but she didn’t want to be rude, so she followed his lead.
After a few minutes of spinning and swaying, he stopped. Stepping back from her he looked into her eyes. She met his gaze but after a moment she looked beyond him. His eyes were cold and dark. She couldn’t help but yearn for the shining golden eyes of the demon lord which burned through to the very depths of her soul. “You know miss, you are very beautiful in that dress.” She smiled slightly at the compliment but unlike when the young demon lord complimented her, her features showed no sign of a blush. “I couldn’t help but notice you had been dancing for a while. You must be thirsty. Come with me. I will buy you a drink.” It was true, she had tired herself out from all the dancing and a drink would be nice.
He led her around the swaying couples and over to the bar where a young woman was gracefully serving drinks. “I would like a White Russian and a Long Island Iced Tea for the lady here.” Kagome perked up a bit hearing iced tea. She didn’t take well to alcohol so she was glad to hear that he’d ordered her something without it.
“Comin’ right up, sugar.” The woman started pouring and mixing a few different concoctions after affirming what he wanted with her New York accent. In mere seconds she had the drinks ready and handed them to whom they belonged. “White Russian and a Long Island Iced Tea.” She leaned towards Kagome a bit. “You’re pretty daring there sweetie. I won’t even go for that stuff.”
Before she could ask what the bartender had meant, she walked away to make someone else’s drink. She took a small taste of the drink she had been given and immediately got a shock through her body. The feeling now made her suspicious of the man next to her and she decided to ask. “What did she mean by that, Mr. Hiroshi?”
“Oh miss, I’m sorry I should have warned you. Long Island Iced Tea is simply very, very sweet and so it has a strong taste. A sugar rush is almost a given.” He smiled and she was reassured that the feeling probably was just the new taste and a sugar buzz. She took another rather large drink just now realizing how thirsty she really was. Absentmindedly, she looked around, searching for silver locks and amber eyes in the crowd. Within a few moments without even realizing it, she had polished off the last of her drink.
After he had taken the time to finish his drink, she decided they had been sitting for long enough. “T-That-was-really-good. We-should-go-back-and-dance.” Tipping a bit as she slid off the bar stool, she walked unsteadily towards the dance floor, unaware of her slurred speech or difficulty walking straight. He smirked and followed after her. Quickly catching up to her, he grasped her hips tightly, keeping her steady and tight against his body.
With insistence in his voice instead of what should have been a kind suggestion, he whispered in her ear. “You don’t look well. Maybe we should head to the back so you can rest for a while.” Having being stopped by his strong hold she tried to pull away; she felt fine. But when she tried to continue on, her feet would not move. She glanced back at the dark eyed man and suddenly felt weak.
The strength of his aura and the alcohol rushing through her blood was stopping her from doing as she wished. As he turned her to face the back of the club her legs started to take her there, following where he led her, even though her mind resisted. When she opened her mouth to speak, her voice would not come, no matter how hard she tried to call for help. She knew she was in eminent danger. Even though she was only human, she could sense the evil in the man controlling her; she could see it in his eyes.
Frantically looking around, she tried to find someone, anyone who would see her distress and come to help her. But all she could see were drunken couples dancing around in awkward circles. And soon her eyesight and her thoughts started to become very blurry. She shook her head and with her last few coherent thoughts she prayed that the gods would save her.
When they reached the back of the club all she could see were blurred figures melded together, tumbling around on scattered couches and cushions. Suddenly she was pushed roughly into a pile of nearby pillows. Before she had the chance to get up she found that she was pinned down by her captor. He held her legs down with his own and had both her wrists clamped tightly in his left hand. “You can scream all you want now sweet heart. No one is coming to save you.” As if on cue she opened her mouth to scream for help but as soon as she did his ice cold lips came crashing down on hers.
With now open access to her his tongue savagely raided her mouth. She struggled fiercely to free herself and thrashing her head from side to side she bit down hard on his intrusive appendage. He pulled away quickly, hissing in pain, leaving her mouth free. “Help! Please someone help me! Tais-” She tried to call for the only one she knew when she was abruptly cut off by a hard slap to her face.
“How dare you bite me you little bitch? You do that again and I promise you won’t see the light of another day!” He intensely emphasized his last words by grasping her right breast in his free hand tightly, causing her to cry out in pain. Tears were now streaming down her face as he tore away the top of her dress. Leaning down to her, he led a trail of rough kisses down to her other breast. Ravishing it viciously, he bit down hard on the tip, causing another sharp scream in pain as he drew blood.
“Please stop.. Please...” She begged him in a weak whisper between sobs. Her voice shook and her body trembled as he lifted her dress to reach between her legs. “No..! Please..!” She fought harder against him in vain as he ripped her panties to shreds. Without hesitation he thrust three fingers inside her and reveled in the ear-piercing scream it brought from her. He felt her virgin walls clamp down tightly around his fingers and wasted no time in forcing them to impale her again and again.
With her eyes shut tightly her sobs continued, interrupted only by her pleads of deliverance. It wasn’t long before she felt his fingers slide out of her, only to hear him start to remove his pants. Using all of her power and what strength she had left in her she tried to fight him off one last time as she felt him position himself to enter her. ‘This is it. No one can save me now.’ Her thoughts braced her for what to come but suddenly the weight was lifted off her body.
Her eyes shot open and she gasped, her vision filled with shining silver. Sesshomaru had Naraku pinned to the wall behind her, his eyes blood red and burning with rage. His poison claws were piercing his neck as his grip grew tighter and tighter. With great speed and strength Sesshomaru kneed him in the abdomen causing him to double over in pain and threw him across the room, almost going head-first through a wall on the other side.
Naraku fell to the ground, clutching his heavily bleeding neck, coughing and gasping for breath. In a flash, the young demon lord had the half-demon’s face crushed into the ground with a flurry of punches bombarding his already broken body. By then he had done enough damage to kill an ordinary human but continued his onslaught by picking him up by his neck, throwing him into the air, and with a spinning kick sending him into yet another wall.
Before he had a moment to fall Sesshomaru had him pinned by his neck to the wall. “Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t rip you apart!” He snarled and was about to impale his claws into the other’s neck one final time when he heard a gentle frightened whimper from his right. His eyes flickered for a moment from the blazing fire to smoldering embers before they settled unsteadily with his normal bright amber. He released an unconscious Naraku from his grasp as he turned to face the one he was almost too late to save.
The intensity in his eyes was glazed over in a fog when his gaze met hers. They were filled with sorrow and hatred, determination and power, as he stepped nearer to her. Unsteadily she got to her feet, and stood facing him with tears still streaming down her face. “Oh Taisho-san!” Barely managing to keep her footing she rushed over to her savior, collapsing in his arms. Her sobs violently shook her body as she buried her face in his chest. “I was so scared! He was.. He was going to..!” Knowing she couldn’t bear to speak the words, her speech broke into echoing cries. Clinging onto him so strongly like he was her only tie to life, she suddenly felt her legs give out from beneath her.
In an instant, his strong arms were around her, supporting her light weight. With a fire ablaze in his once cold heart he held her to him tightly, but ever so gently afraid that her fragile form would shatter in his hands. A deep growl emanated from his chest, not in anger, but with gentility. The faint sound and the calming vibrations coming from him seemed to soothe her and her sobs began to soften.
Picking her up carefully in his arms, he held her close and with great demonic speed, raced out of the club, paying no mind to anyone or anything else. Everything was a blur as he sped past cars, buildings, and late shoppers heading home. In only moments he found that the trembling woman he held in his arms had fallen asleep. Her breathing, that when she had come to him was quick and erratic, was now slow and steady as he approached their hotel building.
Not wanting to alarm anyone inside or raise any questions about the sleeping woman in his arms, he glanced around to see that there was no one around. Looking up towards the direction of their room, he saw a red glow from the rightmost windows. Leaping into the air he flew through the air to top of the building, landing gently on the top floor balcony. As he stepped inside, he felt her stir slightly and shift deeper into the comfort of his arms.
He hated to release her but knowing she needed to rest he brought her to the bedroom and laid her gently on the bed. She whimpered softly when he released her, but fell silent again when he brought the covers over her. Making his way to the other side of the bed, he sat down, watching her chest slowly rise and fall. Watching her now she seemed peaceful, like just his very presence calmed her spirit. Carefully so not to wake her, he bent over her, kissing her forehead, praying that the gods would at least grace her with good dreams that night.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kagome awoke the next morning to sunlight streaming through the windows of the bedroom. Sitting up slowly on sore limbs, she winced slightly as the covers slipped off of her. She glanced downward when the jewels on her dress shone in the light and was instantly reminded of the traumatic night before. But her mind did not dwell long on her dark assailant. Soon her thoughts drifted to her silver haired divine savior. Looking around she saw that he was, to her dismay, not there.
Deciding that she would have to get up sooner or later she threw the covers to the side and got to her feet. Stretching her arms above her head, she started towards the door to the main room. Grasping the handle, she pulled the door open and a slight breeze came through, carrying with it a strong but familiar scent. ‘Bacon..? Eggs..? Pancakes..!?’ Recognizing the aroma that filled her lungs she ran out into the main room to see her employer standing over the stove in the kitchen with his moonlight silver hair tied back.
“So you are finally awake. It’s about time, I was afraid that all this food would go to waste.” He turned around to face her, flashing her a quick smile before he set a tray full of food on the table. “You had said before that breakfast was the most important meal of the day, did you not? Well, that shock to your system last night will have depleted most of your energy so, I expect you to eat and be well enough to work later on.”
He turned around and headed back towards the kitchen then heard her footsteps again. Assuming she was going to the table he continued on until he felt her arms around him. “Thank you, Taisho-san.. You saved my life.. And you didn’t have to..” She held on a bit tighter. “Thank you..”
He stood tall and spoke softly. “Yes.. I did.” He took her hands and held them away from him so he could turn and face her again. Her eyes were filled with tears and as soon as he met her gaze she looked away. Gently, he cupped her chin between his thumb and forefinger and lifted her head slightly. “What that bastard was planning to do I could not let happen to anyone, especially one so innocent.” He closed his eyes, very solemn. “I would have killed him, had you not been there to witness what was done.”
Kagome was no longer afraid of the demon before her and his power. But as her tears fell from her eyes she continued to wonder. “But.. How did you know..? And why did you go so far, to save me..?”
His eyes opened slowly, revealing deep emotions beneath the surface that not even he knew. “I sensed your fear, and knew what must have happened. I almost took the time to blame it on my father but I was concerned that it would have been too late had I waited any longer. I followed your scent and when I saw what that half-demon was about to do I..” He paused for a moment. “-the beast within me took care of the rest.”
The intensity of his words and in his eyes was almost too much to bear but somehow she couldn’t look away. With a light touch, he took her hands and held them in his own. “As to why.. You are different from any human I have ever met before. Your innocence is astonishing, and unlike any other. You have a goodness and kindness about you always. Something inside you burns strong, and protecting that is something I feel I must do.”
Slowly he released her hands and brought his hands up to wipe her tears away. “No more tears or you will drain the rest of your remaining energy. Now as your employer I am telling you to eat. I need my secretary to be healthy for the meeting tomorrow.” He made a face somewhere between a smirk and a smile and led her over to the table. After she sat down he continued to watch over her shoulder until he was sure she would do as directed. Once she had started eating, he left her alone and went over to the couch, picked up his book, and started reading.
During the entirety of her meal all she could think about was her chef for the morning. She absentmindedly picked at her food, though it tasted wonderful, her appetite wasn’t bothering her as much as her churning thoughts. Why was he doing so much for her? He had made her breakfast himself when he could have simply ordered it from room service. He saved her life and almost killed her attacker in the process. She should be serving him, not the other way around. Was there really something more behind his kindness?
Consumed in her musings she didn’t notice the demon lord rise from his place to come and look over her shoulder again. “Is something wrong? You are not eating. Aren’t you feeling well?”
Glancing up at him in surprise, she was confused for a moment before looking back down to her plate and realizing that she had indeed not been eating. She quickly took in a few large mouthfuls as gracefully as she could before speaking. “Nothing’s wrong Taisho-san. The food is delicious and I’m feeling much better now.” She smiled sweetly at him before polishing off the last of the meal he had made.
Sesshomaru had tried to reach for her plate to clear the table but his attempt was abruptly stopped. “Oh no, you made this for me and there is no way I am letting you clean up as well. You’ve done too much as it is.” In an orderly manner, she picked up her dishes, brought them over to the sink and started washing them off. “Besides, if I don’t do something around here, I’m going to feel completely useless.” He chuckled slightly before walking over to the windows and gazing out, taking in the view of the city.
Even though his vision was much better than that of a human, he still could not see the city limits. Its expanse was astounding and it made him wonder how well his company would flourish there. “It is beautiful, isn’t it?” Kagome moved to stand beside him, entranced by the gleam of the reflected sunlight off the many buildings outside.
He glanced at her for a moment then turned back to the window, mumbling a soft “Hn,” affirming her statement. Side by side they stood for a few minutes before the light of the sun became too bright for her delicate human eyes. Turning around, she leaned against the window, allowing the sun to warm her back. She sighed contentedly, looking over at Sesshomaru who seemed to be still deep in thought. “Taisho-san..?”
“Hmm?” He inquired without taking his eyes off the horizon.
“Well... I was wondering if I could go to Central Park this afternoon. And I was kinda wondering..” She shuffled around a bit embarrassed. “If you would go with me.”
This took his eyes away from the city and back to the young woman, currently blushing, beside him. “Hai..” He nodded, with a slight smile, telling her that he would join her. He hadn’t anything planned for the rest of the day and found no harm in spending a day out in the fresh air. “Though before we leave, you might want to find some more suitable clothes.” His trademark smirk came to his lips as she looked down to realize once again what she was wearing and sped off towards the bedroom to change.
“Such a strange female..” He shook his head and turned back to the window to wait for her. ‘Still.. She is very intriguing for a human.’ There was a tiny glint in his eyes as he took one last look at the rising sun, his thoughts dwelling on what might come to pass that afternoon.
~A.N.~ I am soooo sorry that this chapter took so long guys. Thank you so much for the reviews. It encourages me to keep writing and continue this. My mojo has not been kind to me. *cries* I have been trying my hardest to think of good plotlines and extra details to make this story one of the best you’ve ever read! I hope to get another chapter out sooner than this one and hope you liked this chapter (and hope I wasn’t too extreme for anyone.)
“Thanks, I love you too Son. Now I have some people that want to meet you, can I pull you away for a few?” Sesshomaru looked over his shoulder to see she hadn’t noticed his father. Assuming she would be fine on her own for a little while, he followed his father out of the crowd. She continued dancing without noticing his disappearance for the better part of ten minutes.
In the middle of her third fast song in a row she felt a light tap on her shoulder. “Oh, Taish-“ Her sentence trailed off as she turned around and realized that it was not him who had gotten her attention. It was another young man with demonic features, but with long black hair, and dark eyes.
“I beg your pardon miss. I couldn’t help but notice you weren’t dancing with anyone and I came to ask you for a dance.” She was running on an adrenaline high and didn’t notice his menacing smile when she agreed to a slow song. “Thank you for your company. My name is Naraku Hiroshi.” He held out his hand to her and when her fingers touched his, he brought her close to him. He rested his hands on her lower back and started to sway a bit. She was somewhat uncomfortable with this man she had just met holding her so closely, but she didn’t want to be rude, so she followed his lead.
After a few minutes of spinning and swaying, he stopped. Stepping back from her he looked into her eyes. She met his gaze but after a moment she looked beyond him. His eyes were cold and dark. She couldn’t help but yearn for the shining golden eyes of the demon lord which burned through to the very depths of her soul. “You know miss, you are very beautiful in that dress.” She smiled slightly at the compliment but unlike when the young demon lord complimented her, her features showed no sign of a blush. “I couldn’t help but notice you had been dancing for a while. You must be thirsty. Come with me. I will buy you a drink.” It was true, she had tired herself out from all the dancing and a drink would be nice.
He led her around the swaying couples and over to the bar where a young woman was gracefully serving drinks. “I would like a White Russian and a Long Island Iced Tea for the lady here.” Kagome perked up a bit hearing iced tea. She didn’t take well to alcohol so she was glad to hear that he’d ordered her something without it.
“Comin’ right up, sugar.” The woman started pouring and mixing a few different concoctions after affirming what he wanted with her New York accent. In mere seconds she had the drinks ready and handed them to whom they belonged. “White Russian and a Long Island Iced Tea.” She leaned towards Kagome a bit. “You’re pretty daring there sweetie. I won’t even go for that stuff.”
Before she could ask what the bartender had meant, she walked away to make someone else’s drink. She took a small taste of the drink she had been given and immediately got a shock through her body. The feeling now made her suspicious of the man next to her and she decided to ask. “What did she mean by that, Mr. Hiroshi?”
“Oh miss, I’m sorry I should have warned you. Long Island Iced Tea is simply very, very sweet and so it has a strong taste. A sugar rush is almost a given.” He smiled and she was reassured that the feeling probably was just the new taste and a sugar buzz. She took another rather large drink just now realizing how thirsty she really was. Absentmindedly, she looked around, searching for silver locks and amber eyes in the crowd. Within a few moments without even realizing it, she had polished off the last of her drink.
After he had taken the time to finish his drink, she decided they had been sitting for long enough. “T-That-was-really-good. We-should-go-back-and-dance.” Tipping a bit as she slid off the bar stool, she walked unsteadily towards the dance floor, unaware of her slurred speech or difficulty walking straight. He smirked and followed after her. Quickly catching up to her, he grasped her hips tightly, keeping her steady and tight against his body.
With insistence in his voice instead of what should have been a kind suggestion, he whispered in her ear. “You don’t look well. Maybe we should head to the back so you can rest for a while.” Having being stopped by his strong hold she tried to pull away; she felt fine. But when she tried to continue on, her feet would not move. She glanced back at the dark eyed man and suddenly felt weak.
The strength of his aura and the alcohol rushing through her blood was stopping her from doing as she wished. As he turned her to face the back of the club her legs started to take her there, following where he led her, even though her mind resisted. When she opened her mouth to speak, her voice would not come, no matter how hard she tried to call for help. She knew she was in eminent danger. Even though she was only human, she could sense the evil in the man controlling her; she could see it in his eyes.
Frantically looking around, she tried to find someone, anyone who would see her distress and come to help her. But all she could see were drunken couples dancing around in awkward circles. And soon her eyesight and her thoughts started to become very blurry. She shook her head and with her last few coherent thoughts she prayed that the gods would save her.
When they reached the back of the club all she could see were blurred figures melded together, tumbling around on scattered couches and cushions. Suddenly she was pushed roughly into a pile of nearby pillows. Before she had the chance to get up she found that she was pinned down by her captor. He held her legs down with his own and had both her wrists clamped tightly in his left hand. “You can scream all you want now sweet heart. No one is coming to save you.” As if on cue she opened her mouth to scream for help but as soon as she did his ice cold lips came crashing down on hers.
With now open access to her his tongue savagely raided her mouth. She struggled fiercely to free herself and thrashing her head from side to side she bit down hard on his intrusive appendage. He pulled away quickly, hissing in pain, leaving her mouth free. “Help! Please someone help me! Tais-” She tried to call for the only one she knew when she was abruptly cut off by a hard slap to her face.
“How dare you bite me you little bitch? You do that again and I promise you won’t see the light of another day!” He intensely emphasized his last words by grasping her right breast in his free hand tightly, causing her to cry out in pain. Tears were now streaming down her face as he tore away the top of her dress. Leaning down to her, he led a trail of rough kisses down to her other breast. Ravishing it viciously, he bit down hard on the tip, causing another sharp scream in pain as he drew blood.
“Please stop.. Please...” She begged him in a weak whisper between sobs. Her voice shook and her body trembled as he lifted her dress to reach between her legs. “No..! Please..!” She fought harder against him in vain as he ripped her panties to shreds. Without hesitation he thrust three fingers inside her and reveled in the ear-piercing scream it brought from her. He felt her virgin walls clamp down tightly around his fingers and wasted no time in forcing them to impale her again and again.
With her eyes shut tightly her sobs continued, interrupted only by her pleads of deliverance. It wasn’t long before she felt his fingers slide out of her, only to hear him start to remove his pants. Using all of her power and what strength she had left in her she tried to fight him off one last time as she felt him position himself to enter her. ‘This is it. No one can save me now.’ Her thoughts braced her for what to come but suddenly the weight was lifted off her body.
Her eyes shot open and she gasped, her vision filled with shining silver. Sesshomaru had Naraku pinned to the wall behind her, his eyes blood red and burning with rage. His poison claws were piercing his neck as his grip grew tighter and tighter. With great speed and strength Sesshomaru kneed him in the abdomen causing him to double over in pain and threw him across the room, almost going head-first through a wall on the other side.
Naraku fell to the ground, clutching his heavily bleeding neck, coughing and gasping for breath. In a flash, the young demon lord had the half-demon’s face crushed into the ground with a flurry of punches bombarding his already broken body. By then he had done enough damage to kill an ordinary human but continued his onslaught by picking him up by his neck, throwing him into the air, and with a spinning kick sending him into yet another wall.
Before he had a moment to fall Sesshomaru had him pinned by his neck to the wall. “Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t rip you apart!” He snarled and was about to impale his claws into the other’s neck one final time when he heard a gentle frightened whimper from his right. His eyes flickered for a moment from the blazing fire to smoldering embers before they settled unsteadily with his normal bright amber. He released an unconscious Naraku from his grasp as he turned to face the one he was almost too late to save.
The intensity in his eyes was glazed over in a fog when his gaze met hers. They were filled with sorrow and hatred, determination and power, as he stepped nearer to her. Unsteadily she got to her feet, and stood facing him with tears still streaming down her face. “Oh Taisho-san!” Barely managing to keep her footing she rushed over to her savior, collapsing in his arms. Her sobs violently shook her body as she buried her face in his chest. “I was so scared! He was.. He was going to..!” Knowing she couldn’t bear to speak the words, her speech broke into echoing cries. Clinging onto him so strongly like he was her only tie to life, she suddenly felt her legs give out from beneath her.
In an instant, his strong arms were around her, supporting her light weight. With a fire ablaze in his once cold heart he held her to him tightly, but ever so gently afraid that her fragile form would shatter in his hands. A deep growl emanated from his chest, not in anger, but with gentility. The faint sound and the calming vibrations coming from him seemed to soothe her and her sobs began to soften.
Picking her up carefully in his arms, he held her close and with great demonic speed, raced out of the club, paying no mind to anyone or anything else. Everything was a blur as he sped past cars, buildings, and late shoppers heading home. In only moments he found that the trembling woman he held in his arms had fallen asleep. Her breathing, that when she had come to him was quick and erratic, was now slow and steady as he approached their hotel building.
Not wanting to alarm anyone inside or raise any questions about the sleeping woman in his arms, he glanced around to see that there was no one around. Looking up towards the direction of their room, he saw a red glow from the rightmost windows. Leaping into the air he flew through the air to top of the building, landing gently on the top floor balcony. As he stepped inside, he felt her stir slightly and shift deeper into the comfort of his arms.
He hated to release her but knowing she needed to rest he brought her to the bedroom and laid her gently on the bed. She whimpered softly when he released her, but fell silent again when he brought the covers over her. Making his way to the other side of the bed, he sat down, watching her chest slowly rise and fall. Watching her now she seemed peaceful, like just his very presence calmed her spirit. Carefully so not to wake her, he bent over her, kissing her forehead, praying that the gods would at least grace her with good dreams that night.
Kagome awoke the next morning to sunlight streaming through the windows of the bedroom. Sitting up slowly on sore limbs, she winced slightly as the covers slipped off of her. She glanced downward when the jewels on her dress shone in the light and was instantly reminded of the traumatic night before. But her mind did not dwell long on her dark assailant. Soon her thoughts drifted to her silver haired divine savior. Looking around she saw that he was, to her dismay, not there.
Deciding that she would have to get up sooner or later she threw the covers to the side and got to her feet. Stretching her arms above her head, she started towards the door to the main room. Grasping the handle, she pulled the door open and a slight breeze came through, carrying with it a strong but familiar scent. ‘Bacon..? Eggs..? Pancakes..!?’ Recognizing the aroma that filled her lungs she ran out into the main room to see her employer standing over the stove in the kitchen with his moonlight silver hair tied back.
“So you are finally awake. It’s about time, I was afraid that all this food would go to waste.” He turned around to face her, flashing her a quick smile before he set a tray full of food on the table. “You had said before that breakfast was the most important meal of the day, did you not? Well, that shock to your system last night will have depleted most of your energy so, I expect you to eat and be well enough to work later on.”
He turned around and headed back towards the kitchen then heard her footsteps again. Assuming she was going to the table he continued on until he felt her arms around him. “Thank you, Taisho-san.. You saved my life.. And you didn’t have to..” She held on a bit tighter. “Thank you..”
He stood tall and spoke softly. “Yes.. I did.” He took her hands and held them away from him so he could turn and face her again. Her eyes were filled with tears and as soon as he met her gaze she looked away. Gently, he cupped her chin between his thumb and forefinger and lifted her head slightly. “What that bastard was planning to do I could not let happen to anyone, especially one so innocent.” He closed his eyes, very solemn. “I would have killed him, had you not been there to witness what was done.”
Kagome was no longer afraid of the demon before her and his power. But as her tears fell from her eyes she continued to wonder. “But.. How did you know..? And why did you go so far, to save me..?”
His eyes opened slowly, revealing deep emotions beneath the surface that not even he knew. “I sensed your fear, and knew what must have happened. I almost took the time to blame it on my father but I was concerned that it would have been too late had I waited any longer. I followed your scent and when I saw what that half-demon was about to do I..” He paused for a moment. “-the beast within me took care of the rest.”
The intensity of his words and in his eyes was almost too much to bear but somehow she couldn’t look away. With a light touch, he took her hands and held them in his own. “As to why.. You are different from any human I have ever met before. Your innocence is astonishing, and unlike any other. You have a goodness and kindness about you always. Something inside you burns strong, and protecting that is something I feel I must do.”
Slowly he released her hands and brought his hands up to wipe her tears away. “No more tears or you will drain the rest of your remaining energy. Now as your employer I am telling you to eat. I need my secretary to be healthy for the meeting tomorrow.” He made a face somewhere between a smirk and a smile and led her over to the table. After she sat down he continued to watch over her shoulder until he was sure she would do as directed. Once she had started eating, he left her alone and went over to the couch, picked up his book, and started reading.
During the entirety of her meal all she could think about was her chef for the morning. She absentmindedly picked at her food, though it tasted wonderful, her appetite wasn’t bothering her as much as her churning thoughts. Why was he doing so much for her? He had made her breakfast himself when he could have simply ordered it from room service. He saved her life and almost killed her attacker in the process. She should be serving him, not the other way around. Was there really something more behind his kindness?
Consumed in her musings she didn’t notice the demon lord rise from his place to come and look over her shoulder again. “Is something wrong? You are not eating. Aren’t you feeling well?”
Glancing up at him in surprise, she was confused for a moment before looking back down to her plate and realizing that she had indeed not been eating. She quickly took in a few large mouthfuls as gracefully as she could before speaking. “Nothing’s wrong Taisho-san. The food is delicious and I’m feeling much better now.” She smiled sweetly at him before polishing off the last of the meal he had made.
Sesshomaru had tried to reach for her plate to clear the table but his attempt was abruptly stopped. “Oh no, you made this for me and there is no way I am letting you clean up as well. You’ve done too much as it is.” In an orderly manner, she picked up her dishes, brought them over to the sink and started washing them off. “Besides, if I don’t do something around here, I’m going to feel completely useless.” He chuckled slightly before walking over to the windows and gazing out, taking in the view of the city.
Even though his vision was much better than that of a human, he still could not see the city limits. Its expanse was astounding and it made him wonder how well his company would flourish there. “It is beautiful, isn’t it?” Kagome moved to stand beside him, entranced by the gleam of the reflected sunlight off the many buildings outside.
He glanced at her for a moment then turned back to the window, mumbling a soft “Hn,” affirming her statement. Side by side they stood for a few minutes before the light of the sun became too bright for her delicate human eyes. Turning around, she leaned against the window, allowing the sun to warm her back. She sighed contentedly, looking over at Sesshomaru who seemed to be still deep in thought. “Taisho-san..?”
“Hmm?” He inquired without taking his eyes off the horizon.
“Well... I was wondering if I could go to Central Park this afternoon. And I was kinda wondering..” She shuffled around a bit embarrassed. “If you would go with me.”
This took his eyes away from the city and back to the young woman, currently blushing, beside him. “Hai..” He nodded, with a slight smile, telling her that he would join her. He hadn’t anything planned for the rest of the day and found no harm in spending a day out in the fresh air. “Though before we leave, you might want to find some more suitable clothes.” His trademark smirk came to his lips as she looked down to realize once again what she was wearing and sped off towards the bedroom to change.
“Such a strange female..” He shook his head and turned back to the window to wait for her. ‘Still.. She is very intriguing for a human.’ There was a tiny glint in his eyes as he took one last look at the rising sun, his thoughts dwelling on what might come to pass that afternoon.
