Chapter 6: On the run


"INUTAISHO! NO!!!"

"My Lady!" a servant called as she quickly entered the room followed by a worried Yumi and Kouga.

"Izayoi… it's just a dream… do not worry… I know Inutaisho will be ok." Yumi cooed at the sobbing Izayoi.

"mother… I'll call Sesshomaru and Inuyasha…" Said Kouga.

"Sure darli-"she was cut short by a strong light from outside 'that couldn't be the lightning… no thunder followed it. What could it be?' "Kouga." she looked at her son.

As if her mother's queston nodded at her and had gone out to see where the light came from.

"INUTAISHO!" Izayoi called for him.

"hush Izayoi…" she cooed ash she hugged her dear friend. Rocking her.

"No you don't understand… he's here! I can feel him! He's here!" Izayoi stopped sobbing but tears continue to fall.

'I don't know how I can tell you this Izayoi… the dryads had reported that your mate is dead… oh Izayoi… I think it would be best if I tell his now… but seeing what's happening to his now with the loss of his mate… I don't know if he can handle this.'Yumi thought and getting some determination "Izayoi… listen…" Izayoi looked at him with worried eyes "you still have your sons… it would not help if you would sulk and be in solitude and grief… they love you… and…"

"No… no… I know where your going to… he's not dead! He's not DEAD!" Izayoi frantically said while shaking his.

"Izayoi… the dryads had said that… Inutaisho is…"

"here." a low soft voice echoed throughout the room.

"wha-?"Yumi turned to see Intaisho at the door blood all over his belly…

"Inu---tai- sho…" Izaayoi gasped tears of joy running down her checks.

"I'd be back and I'm here… didn't I tell you my mate?" Inutaisho said letting a smile grace his face.

"But the dryads?" Yumi gasped.

"I'll explain it later… please Yumi… my sons need tending… Iuyasha tried to break the mating bond." Inutaisho said worriedly.

"Yes… I understand." Yumi said as she stood and walked pass Inutaisho leaving the two mates to each other.

"Oh Inutaisho! I thought I won't see you again!" Izayoi locked his arms at his neck.

"I promised you that I will never leave you… did I not?" he said embracing Izayoi on the waist. He then pulled Izayoi closer to him and kissed her passionately. Parting for much needed air "Izayoi… Inuyasha tried to severe their mating bond." he said worriedly.

"So that's why he asked about the mating bond being severed…" Izayoi audibly mused to himself.

"What was that my mate?"

flashback

He was awaken by a gentle hand caressing his long silver tresses. Slowly opening his eyes he noticed that his head was in his mother's lap. "Mother?"

"Yes darling? It took long for you to awaken… I was getting worried that your father over do his punch… When he gets back I'll do the same to him! Knock my youngest baby out does he!" Izayoi said in her overly dramatic making fun tone.

"MOM!" bInuyasha bellowed and rose to sit "you're doing it again..."

"Sorry baby…" Izayoi said giggling. "Just wait till I'm over your "maturity" maybe then I'll stop calling you 'my baby'" She added trying to stop a laughter coming out when she saw her son blush.

"Ugh!" Inuyasha rolled his eyes together examining the 'thing they're in' he tried looking at the window but all he can see was black. "Mom? Where are we?"

"Hmm? Where in our private carriage… where in a tunnel that was built for… escape…"

"Oh…" things that had happened coming back to him… 'Father was left at the mansion… and I… I was… I WAS MATED TO SESSHOMARU!' "Mother? Where is Sesshumaru?" he blushed when he saw his mother give her a mischievous grin. "MOM!" 'This is beginning to get really awkward! Is the fact that her sons are mated to each other not disturbing?... oh… we're demons… human morals… not the same with demons… I think it would really take long for me to get used to that…'

"Sorry baby… I just thought of something when you want to see your brother…" Izayoi teased her grin getting wider

'And now my mom has things running in her mind! Probably it's when the time she… he… she… whatever… caught us.' "MOM! Could you stop grinning? I think I don't know how I would react if the upper half of your head just roll off to the floor."

to that his mom laughed… 'that laugh makes my heart melt… how can I get angry with her… him… her… Ugh!' "Mom?"

"Yes darling?" she stopped laughing sensing her son's serious tone

"Uhm… since you're a male… but you're a 'mom' my mom… what pronouns should I use?"

She almost dropped to the floor with that question but instead laughed her heart out with how innocent a question can be.

"Mom!" he bellowed feeling hot all over his face. 'Oh yeah! Laugh all you want!'

"I'm… hahaha!… sorry darling… hahahha!... but I can't… hahaha!... help it!...."

"hmpf!"

Getting a hold of herself... "I'm sorry darling… but it's your question… I'm not laughing at you darling… I'm laughing at your question…" she said failing to stop sporadic giggles.

"I know mom… it's just… you see… after all that has happened… it made my head swirl and all… so… in an attempt to fix my thoughts and all the facts being pushed in my head… I just want to clear things out in slowly but surely kind of way… and a good way to start is to my mom… who I love so much." he said the last to flatter her and to make her feel sorry at laughing at him… well… 'My question'

"Aw…" she hugged her son "it's up to you baby…" she felt her son stiffen "…darling" she quickly changed "call me what you want darling… anything that suits you…"

"But I don't want to offend you if I call you this or that…"

"Baby…" 'Hell! I'll just have to let it pass…'Inuyasha mused "When you were still in nursery…you would run to me shouting "mommy! I'm here mommy!" oblivious that all demons there know I'm male… I remember the time when a classmate of yours asked where I was from the crowd and you said

flashback

after the class all children rushed out from their classroom calling out their parents.

"There's my mommy… the one with the black hair… you know what! She's the best mommy in the whole world! I love her so much! In fact I'm going to give this letter to her" a bubbly little Inuyasha said with all smile

"You mean the letter that's supposed to be given to your best friend?"

"u-huh!"

"But she's your mom. Not your best friend…"

"NO!… she's not just a mom to me… she's also my best friend!" Inuyasha giggled "I have her in two packages! ahihihi! Mommy! I'm here mommy!" Inuyasha ran to her mom having her open arms to him. After the hug Inuyasha presented the letter to his mom and his mom kissed him on the check.

End of flashback


Again… being ever oblivious and innocent… you don't know that all people there are demons that know I'm male… It didn't matter then what you called me… who could stop their sons calling them mom, her, she, when you would hear those heart melting words from them?"

"Well I guess I can call you like what I usually call you…" Inuyasha said

"That's settled then?"

"u-huh!" Inuyasha said in a childish tone, mimicking the voice back from the flashback. "I have you in two packages!"

"Aw! You baby!"

"Mom! Don't get too mushy! But I love you anyway…"

"Aw! You seem to make my heart melt every time you say that you love your mommy…" she pinched his son's cheeks.

"Aw! Aw! Aw! MOM! Stop that!..." his mom stopped and looked at the window now having views of a wide valley. "Mom?"

"Yes darling?"

"Can a mating bond be broken?"

"hm?" she turned to look at her son's serious face

"I mean… is there a possibility that mating bonds be broken?"

"Sadly... yes…"

"Oh…"

"But with a very great price… a demons life may be at stake… the one that initiated the severing that is… there were stories that after the mating bond the demon that initiated the severing just fall to the ground lifeless. It also depends on the power of the youkai the demon possesses… powerful youkai's can withstand such power drain that they only exhaust themselves but nevertheless it is not life threatening."

"Oh… but how does a demon start the ritual of severing?"

"it is usually of instincts…" Izayoi stopped at that and looked at Inuyasha seriously "Inuyasha… do you plan to sever the bond with your brother."

"mom!-"

"That is no question Inuyasha. That is a warning. Do not jump into conclusions… from now on… think first… if it takes to think twice thrice or more do it!"

"Mom… I-" Inuyasha was stopped when a knock on the door was heard from the outside.

*knock knock
"Mother… it is me Sesshomaru can I come in?" Sesshomaru called from outside the door.

"Of course darling! Come in…"

"I came to see if Inuyasha is-…" Sesshomaru scanned the room and saw Inuyasha and his mother seated on the cushion by the cabin window. He walked towards his brother… kneeled in front of him cupped his cheeks. He felt that Inuyasha stiffened. "Are you ok my mate?"

Inuyasha felt his brother's hand on his face and stiffened… 'Is this due to the mating bond? Or does he do this in his own will… does he really love me… or is it his youkai that dictates he loves me?' he then felt the hand run down his cheeks making him calm. He melts to the affectionate touch.

"I'm ok … still a little tired but I'm ok."

A flash of light was seen and the brothers looked at their mother "just a little picture for my scrap book project… you two is a good match! ahihihi!" Inuyasha blushed at that and Sesshomaru gave his mom a smile. Izayoi almost jumped when he saw his eldest smile 'a rare sight. And Inuyasha was the only one to make him smile… like mom and dad.' Izayoi thought.

*knock knock

All heads turned to look at the door. "Aunt Izayoi?"

"Come in Kouga."

"Aunt Izayoi… oh! I see that the whole family's here… Inuyasha… are you ok?" he said worriedly not acknowledging Sesshomaru.

"I'm fine kou-" Inuyasha was short "my mate is fine cousin." Sesshomaru said sternly.

"Do you need something? A drink? Or anything Inuyasha?" Kouga said intentionally ignoring Sesshomaru.

"No… I don't need anything-"Inuyasha was cut off again by Sesshomaru "what exactly did you come here for cousin." he said more of a statement.

"What? Oh Sesshomaru? You're here." Kouga teased. Inuyasha heard a low growl from his brother and elbowed Sesshomaru's side which then in turn held Inuyasha closer to him as he saw Kouga approaching.

"uhm Kouga… what is it that you come to tell me?" Izayoi quickly said not to bring chaos all over the cabin they're in.

"Ah yes auntie… we are nearing the station. From there someone will pick us up and we're on our way to the manor." Kouga said looking at Inuyasha rather than Izayoi. to that Sesshomaru raised a brow.

"Ok… thank you Kouga… is there something more?"

"Oh yeah… if in a day uncle won't come he's going to meet as at the Palace of the Mountains."

"Ok Kouga." said Izayoi

"You're coming with us at the palace?" Sesshomaru said in a low growl.

"What? Oh… yes I am… and also my mom and dad and some servants…" Kouga said intentionally not noticing the warning as he continued the gaze to Inuyasha. Inuyasha at that blushed and felt the embrace of the one arm around his waist tighten. "Sesshomaru. If you want to kill me of suffocation you can tighten your embrace more!" Inuyasha said annoyingly.

"You heard him." Kouga added

"It would be best for you, cousin, to stop meddling with others businesses." Sesshomaru said in an icy tone that made the temperature in the cabin drop.

"I think it would be best for your mate to breathe if you want him to live." Kouga spatted back at Sesshomaru.

"Cousin it is wise not to bring ire off of me-" sesshomaru was cut short by a knock on the door.

*knock knock

"Lady Izayoi… we are here." a servant from the outside of the room called.

"Thank you… we will be out momentarily." Izayoi walking to the door and stopped as she was to turn the knob. "come out if your done with your childish games. Inuyasha darling let's go and leave the brats." at that she turned the knob and walked out the room.

Inuyasha bucked the arm away and walked to where his mother is going not saying anything. 'Uh! Why do I get myself in such predicaments! Oh woe is me! Oh!' he thought in mock drama and rolled his eyes.

the two that are left just stood there glaring at each other.

"After you" Kouga said.

in a blink of an eye Sesshomaru is gone and so is Kouga.


end of Flashback


"Where are they? I must see my sons!" she gasped.

"Do not fret my mate… I stopped the great ancestor just in time…"

"But how?"

"I used the tetsusaiga… but..."

"It got broken…" Izayoi stated. Inutaisho nodded. "We better see our sons…" Inutaisho nodded in agreement and guided Izayoi to where their sons are.


Sesshomaru and Inuyahsa's room

"Uh…" Sesshomaru moaned. Opening his eyes… "INUYAHSA!" He called out jolting to sit up until he felt soft arms gently pushing him down. He looked to where the arm belong "Mother!… Inuyasha?..."

"Is beside you… slumbering…" Izayoi said.

Sesshomaru looked at his side where Inuyasha was laid. He cupped his cheek and looked at his mate's slow deep breathes.

"He got exhausted from all the youkai energy he used when he tried to severe your bond… tell me my son what happened before he tried to do that?" Inutaisho said and asked calmly.

"Father…" Sesshomaru acknowledge his father and continued "he thought he pushed himself to me… he thought he forced me to mating him…but he never did! I did it in my own accord! I love him father! He's everything to me… even if we are not the incarnations of grandfather and grandmother. Even before we've known that their youkai's are within us… I loved him… not with what my youaki is telling me… but I love him with my heart." he said suddenly feeling warm wet trails on his cheeks.

"Darling… you should rest… you can tell him that when he wakes up." Izayoi cooed.

Sesshomaru touch his brothers cheek. "Father! Mother! He-… he… he's getting plaer… colder!"

"Inutaisho!" Izayoi called out to his mate.

"We should go the palace at once! The guardian may know what to do."

"Inutaisho! Izayoi! the dryads had reported that they saw military men pass trough the forest and are on their way here!" Yumi aid as she rushed inside the room.

"It seems that the barrier was not enough to cover such powerful youkai of the great ancestor. We should get going." Inutaisho announced to everyone in the room.
