Talking
Chapter six: Talking
Sesshomaru came home late that night. He found a nice place with cherry blossoms and sat under them for hours. They reminded him of the blossoms back at home. He missed it terribly. Even though he would never say it out loud, the Taiyokai even missed the squawking of Jaken. He even missed it when Rin would run up and give him flower’s with her silly grin on her face. Back then, humans feared him. Demons would fight him and his need for blood would be satisfied. He even missed the fact that he could run around freely when his beast wanted to take control and run wild. But here he could not. He could not turn into his large demon form and run around. As Kagome simply put it, scientist would take him in and experiment on him. Or the military would attack his demon form. Either way, it was trouble he would rather avoid. And yet, the fact he had to hide who he was, it was almost maddening.
He didn’t stop to say hello to Kagome and her family, he didn’t stop till he reached his bedroom. There he shut his lights off and just sat in the moonlight. It was a full moon that night and he wanted to bask in the light. He could already feel himself calming down. That was till he sensed another presence in the room.
Sesshomaru quickly turned around, his eyes red and menacing. But they quickly bled back into their normal amber when he saw it was Kagome.
“Is everything alright Sesshomaru-sama?” She asked softly. It wasn’t that she was scared. In fact it was just to show her concern for him.
“I’m fine.” His answer was short and clipped.
Kagome bit the inside of her lip. “You miss it don’t you?” She asked, voice still soft.
Sesshomaru looked back outside. “Its none of your concern.”
“It is when its you.” She whispered. Your still a good friend Sesshomaru. I’ll admit, I didn’t like you at first. But that’s because you tried to kill me and Inuyasha. You know what they say, first impressions mean a lot.”
Sesshomaru gave a small nod, listening with only half an ear.
Kagome sighed. “Even though I said I would never go back to your time, I still would have gone back. I miss Sango and Miroku so much. As well as Shippo. I hope he’s doing well and Inuyasha isn’t abusing him so much. I also miss Inuyasha. Sometimes I wonder if they’ve beaten Naraku yet. I also wonder about Jaken and Rin.”
That got Sesshomaru’s attention. He turned his amber eyes from the moon to Kagome.
“I mean, Rin is a little girl. And she looked up to you as a father. You know, I always thought of you to hate all humans. But you acted like you were Rin’s father. It was sweet and lead me to believe that you didn’t hate humans as much as you said you did.”
Sesshomaru closed his eyes before motioning Kagome to sit down next to him. “I do hate humans to a degree. My father was a great Taiyokai. His name is InuTaisho. He was the strongest demon ever to walk Japan. But in the end, he was weak.”
“How so?” Kagome whispered. She never got to hear about Inuyasha’s and Sesshomaru’s father.
“He left my mother for that weak human women.” Sesshomaru said with much malice. “After fighting and sealing away the demon Ryuukotsai, he ran off to save her. He died in the fight to save some human girl.” ‘Do you have someone worth protecting?’ His father’s words still echoed in his mind. That was the last words his father spoke before he left for his death.
Kagome never heard the story like that. She always was told the story from Myoga. He told her that Inuyasha’s father valiantly saved Inuyasha’s mother , but unfortunately died in the act. It was told with great bravery, but never told with anger. Though Kagome could see why Sesshomaru would be angry at what happened. “What happened after that?” Kagome asked him.
“I took after my father. I strived to be the strongest demon in Japan, and I took over his throne. I vowed never to trust humans again.”
Kagome gave a small nod at what he was saying. That was till she remembered something. “Then why Rin?”
Sesshomaru looked up at her and smiled softly. The first true smile that Kagome had seen. “That is something this Sesshomaru will not tell.”
Kagome placed her hands on her hips and pouted. ‘That’s not fair Sesshomaru-sama! I mean, you just told me about your father, and now you wont tell me why you took Rin in?”
“This Sesshomaru is tired Kagome.” He said simply. “Oh and before I forget, your friend Ayumi wants us to go to her house tomorrow. Something about study hall or something.” It was a lie, but that’s the best that Sesshomaru could think of at the moment.
Kagome smiled and nodded. “Alright. What time did she say?”
“Not sure.” He said, already taking off his shirt. “But you can call her tomorrow.”
Jargoned blushed slightly before nodded. “Alright. I’ll talk to you tomorrow then.” She said, leaving the room and the Taiyokai to his thoughts.
