Chapter 6: Destructive Forces


Kagome awoke in Sesshomaru's arms and smiled at the peaceful look on his face. She hadn't seen him like this since he was a pup and she had cradled him to sleep after his mothers death. Slipping from the bed she walked out the room and went to talk to Inuyasha. She met him half to his room and became concerned to the look on his face. Wordlessly he handed her the note he had found taped to the front door. Kagome read the note over twice before the words sunk in and she crumbled. She sank down to the floor as she curled in on herself. She had to do as he said she wouldn't sacrifice anyone else for her own private needs and desires. She laid there with Inuyasha at her side for hours and soon Sesshomaru and Inutaisho were at her side. They each read the note and yet couldn't understand why Kagome seemed to be dead yet had a heart beat and warmth to her skin yet remained still and unmovable.

~Back at Laviathian's Layer~

"LAVIATIAN YOU ARRAGANT PIECE OF SHIT GET YOUR ASS IN HERE RIGHT FUCKIN NOW!"

Kagome's voice poured from Shippou's throat. She had taken a moment to reassure them that she was coming for them and then she had borrowed SHippou to talk to the asshole responsible for their captivity. She didn't wait long and within moments Laviatian was standing before them.

"So you decided to come speak with me I'm pleased."

"Cut the bullshit, why do you have my friends I remember telling you to gather power and that they along with my family were expressively off limits. Release them!"

"My dear Kagome I'm sorry to say that I can not do that you see you took something from me a long time ago and I think we need to come to terms with that. But, then you don't even remember me do you?"

"......"

"Let me refresh your memory."

Laviatian shifted into his true form the twisted version that had been left to him by the demon he was helping defeat all those years ago. Yet Kagome the woman he had loved and wanted to protect had left him in his moment of need to see to the bleeding dying form that was Sesshomaru, chosing to save him instead of Laviatian. Kagome sucked in a breath as she relized who was before her.

"Lee..."

"Yes, Kagome it's me and you left me to die, after I took the hit that would have killed you so you alone would come out unscathed. But, instead of helping me you rushed to that brats side and even now love him when you were promised to me. You were supposed to be mine not Sesshomaru's..."

Kagome's body walked forward forming out of thin air as she stepped away from Shippou. She touched his scarred face as tears came to her eyes. Laviatian covered her hand with his own.

"I'm so sorry Lee...I went back and you weren't there I thought the beast had devoured you like so many others...I thought you dead."

Laviatian's features hardened and his face turned cold as he pushed her away from him. Kagome hit the stone wall hard and only looked up at him with a tear streaked face.

"Oh Lee I never meant to hurt you. You were my heart back then and when you were gone I didn't know what to do with myself anymore. There was no one else...my brother was gone and my parents would never have understood. Sesshomaru was my charge...I couldn't leave him, he was a child caught in the middle of something he could never hope to survive without my help. An I was pregnant with your pup, what could I have said or done? We weren't mated and we belonged to two differient social groups. You were a warrior and I ...I was a protector of children..."

His eyes narrowed as he gazed upon her shaking form as he watched her cry.

"You were never this weak Kagome you've changed as have I and things will be set right."

"Lee, it was a little boy. He looked just like you the same smooth skin and dark intense blue and violet eyes and your soft black hair."

"Where is my son Kagome?"

Kagome sniffed softly and her voice softened even more.

"Buried next to my brother. He was killed by a houshi while chasing after Sesshomaru and Inuyasha in a game of tag..."

A sobbed escaped Kagome as she envisioned the burned and blooded body of her lost little boy.

"Sesshomaru and Inuyasha killed the houshi and brought me his body back...it was so maimed I barely recognized him."

Kagome had looked down at the floor the whole time and never saw the pained look cross his face.

"He was all I had left of you and I lost him because of a stupid human scared of something he would never understand or be part of."

Kagome's voice held a hatred Shippou, Kikyo, and Sango had never heard before and it was directed at all humans. Yet, Kikyo and Sango couldn't hold it against her after hearing how the houshi had taken her son from her forever.

"Take your friends and go we will finish this another day, Kagome."

Shippou, Sango, and Kikyo only heard hatred, but Kagome heard the pain and heartbreak laying underneath it. Taking a firm hold on the others Kagome started to leave, but pulled away and approached Lee. She lifted his face with her hand and kissed him softly. Pulling away she returned to the others and left him to his own thoughts and feelings.

~With Sesshomaru and the others~

Kagome's body faded from them and they didn't know what do, only that she wasn't dead. They returned to their own rooms to wait for her return. Almost two hours later Kagome's energy was felt downstairs in the living room and they all rushed down to meet her. Sesshomaru went to touch her and she quickly moved away. Never in her life had she blamed her losing Lee on Sesshomaru. He had only been a child in the wrong place at the wrong time and yet at this moment she hated him for taking away the man she had loved so long ago. Tears were still streaming down her cheeks as she glared at him.

"I hate you Sesshomaru... I hate you for taking him away from me. I could be happy right now with my own family, my son still alive and wanting to see me but you ruined that you ruined all of it... I hate you, Sesshomaru."

Kagome sank to the floor and rocked back and forth as she held her legs to her chest and cried. Nothing ever went right for her and yet she knew she could never fight Lee to the death. Not after just finding him and reawakening the love she had always held for him. It pulsed through her very being with the same strength and power it had back then, yet she still loved Sesshomaru as well. Her eyes emptied and she just rocked back and forth while her miko energy formed a shield around her. Mentally Kagome was now on the edge of her sanity and none within the room were sure she'd be okay.
