Chapter 6

InuYasha was the first in. His nose twitched slightly at the smell of sweaty humans and arousal. He moved slowly through the jumping dance floor, the music droning to his ears. He ignored the people bumping into him as he settled his amber eyes on a back door.

Back doors always lead to the hide outs.

With some pushing and a few choice words, he was able to make it through the throng of people. He rested his hand on the battered hilt of his sword, his eyes swinging out to check for anyone glancing his way. Seeing no one in the immediate area he slipped through the door.

The hallway was dark and dingy but he could easily see with his superior eyesight. The smell was more tolerable here as he strained to pick up some trace of Sango’s scent He moved as silent as a predator through the hall, stopping by a few doors to catch some sort of sound. It wasn’t till he was almost to the end of the hall that he picked up the scent of tears, Sango’s tears.

If those bastards had done anything to her he would gut them where they stood! His speed picked up, the need to see her safe over riding any common sense of being in an unknown enemy’s territory. Then again, he bet that these humans had never dealt with an enraged youkai.

InuYasha burst into the room that held Sango. His amber eyes immediately seeking her tear filled darkened orbs. Her cheek was battered and he could see the blood trickling down her chin. His teeth ground at the sight of her blood. She was heavily chained to a chair, a gun pushed harshly against her torn cheek.

“InuYasha!” her voice was hysteric and she was on the verge of crying again. “Get out of here!”

“Are you crazy, woman?” he snapped at her, wondering if they had hit her too hard. “There is no way in hell I’m leaving you here, no matter what you say!” The laughter of a male reached his ears as InuYasha spun towards the doorway. An older human male with dusty blonde hair grinned at him.

“Welcome, Takahashi. I knew that you would come. Though it’s not surprising with what we’re holding against you.” He sneered at Sango who sniffled.

“You’re one sick bastard for using her against me.” InuYasha growled at the human, his hidden claws twitching with the urge to rip the human’s smiling face off.

“It would never have come down to this,” the boss shook his head. “All you had to do was give in to my demands.” InuYasha barked out a laugh.

“Give in to you? Are you kidding me? Who do you take me for? Much less, what do you take my brother for? You better hope he feels forgiving after this or they will be scrapping your remains from the floor.” InuYasha looked contemplative, “…maybe.” The boss looked enraged at him.

“Kill him.” He snapped. InuYasha had enough time to hear Sango scream out to him as he heard the distinctive sound of a gun being discharged. He moved, feeling the stinging bite of air as the bullet just barely missed him. He felt a small jolt of satisfaction at the look of realization on the boss’s face as the bullet bit deeply into him. He kept moving, the barrage of bullets still coming at him. At this point, he didn’t care if Sango noticed there wasn’t something human about him, damn it, he was trying to save her life!

Sango felt her heart in her throat as she watched the hire men open fire on InuYasha. She squeezed her eyes shut, refusing to look and trying to drown out the sight of him trying to dodge bullets. She just needed to calm down and take deep breaths. If she remained calm, it might be enough to allow her dormant abilities to surface. Then she could get the hell out of the heavy chains and get InuYasha out of here. He might be shocked and upset that she kept something as big as being one of the Elementals from him but hopefully he would understand she did it to save him from these kinds of situations!

Briefly her mind flashed back to Kagome making fun of her for throwing her life on the line for a guy she barely knew, InuYasha. The bubble of hysteria stirred and she felt the urge to laugh. Instead, she felt the spark of something build within her and felt a surge of triumph. She didn’t bother to control it; she just let it all go.

The heat flowed from her in a tidal wave; the chains surrounding her body became fiery red with its intensity, shuddering under the wake of her power. Finally the metal could take no more and burst upon itself, smoldering red metal exploded about the room. Some of it hit men in the face; their screams of agony as the skin upon their faces began to melt from the bone brought her a small jolt of satisfaction. A sickening thought but the knowledge of what these men had done, the families they had destroyed helped her aching heart.

She stood from the chair, her dark hair dancing about her as she unleash bursts of her fire ability at any around her. She desperately looked for InuYasha, hoping beyond all hope that he was fine somewhere in the middle of the war zone that had been created. She felt steel like arm go across her waist and she squealed out. Her hands were engulfed in flame as she set to burn the disgusting appendage from her when she noticed something off.

Claws. The hand gripping her had claws. She quickly turned around, gasping in shock at the sight of the male holding her.

He still had his long silver hair, but his ears had moved to the top of his head and morphed into silvery white downy ears. They stood up straight and twitched under her intense stare. A chuckle brought her to his eyes. They were the same unique amber color but seemed more intense.

“InuYasha.” She whispered. He reached a hand up slowly, his claws curled under as his knuckles brushed against her bruised cheek. She forced herself not to jerk from the pain, her dark eyes welling up with tears at the knowledge that he was alright, he developed some weird traits but he was alive.

“Seems like I wasn’t the only one keeping a secret.” He said softly to her, his amber eyes sincere as for the first time he felt the power coursing through her body. Her smile was beautiful as she saw him for the first time.

“I’m sorry.” She whispered. “We wanted to tell you but we didn’t know how you would react. Truthfully, I didn’t want to if only to avoid situations like these.” InuYasha smirked at her before paling.

“We?” his voice came out a little high. “Are you telling me Ice Queen is Kagome?” Sango looked at little confused at him before grinning.

“Of course, isn’t is all making sense now?” she giggled lightly, inwardly wondering what in the world was wrong with her if she could be happy at a time like this.

“The literal Ice Queen with my brother, the Ice Prince.” InuYasha shook his head at the image that statement presented. Sango gripped his arm.

“Is Sesshomaru like you too?” she asked him. She bit her lip in contemplation as she slowly brought one of her hands up to his ears. It had been killing her since she first caught sight of the ears; she just had to touch them. She took the tip between her two fingers, his head tilting down slightly to give her better access. She rubbed the tip, the soft fur feeling delightful against her skin. She giggled as it twitched at her.

“I’m only half.” InuYasha said as she pulled back from his ears. He frowned at the sense of loss from the touch, never before having liked anyone to touch his ears. “I’m half dog demon.” Sango’s dark eyes got impossibly wide.

“So,” she said softly, her dark eyes glazing in thought. “Sesshomaru is full?”

“Yeah,” InuYasha mumbled. “He’s got the huge dog form to prove it.”

“Bitch!” the voice startled the pair. InuYasha pushed Sango behind him. Powers or not it was his job to protect her. He bared his fangs at the struggling human male on the floor. It was that asshole, her ex. He struggled to lift the gun, InuYasha braced himself.

But the gun wasn’t pointed at him, it was pointed at Sango.

He didn’t wait around to see if she was bulletproof or not. Truthfully, he didn’t think he could stand around and watch to find out. He grabbed the male up from the floor, the gun clattering and skidding as he shoved him against a wall. He snarled in his face, the man becoming pale and stuttering.

Sango tried to reach out and stop InuYasha but she heard a sickening crack before her ex-boyfriend’s body hit the ground. She stared at the body, in silent awe that he could snap a grown man’s neck.

“Sango…” InuYasha sounded like a wounded puppy. He was afraid she would pull away from him now. She looked at him; she took in his cute ears pinned against his head like a scolded puppy. She glanced back at the body before pulling herself together.

“We need to find Kagome.” She said as she took his claw hand into her own. His amber eyes watched her for any sign of distressed. Upon finding none he tugged her behind him and crouched down.

“Well?” he said as she just stood there and stared at him. “Get on.”

“You want me on your back?” she squeaked. He huffed.

“Feh, get on woman.” She scrambled on his back, feeling awkward at receiving a piggy back ride at her age. His clawed hands came around and gripped her thighs sending a delicious jolt to her core. He stood up, his ears twitching back to her before moving forward again. He decided not to tell her that he could smell her arousal as he let his claws roam a little more across her skin. She was after all still wearing that skirt from work. Besides, it was difficult enough to move with a hard on.

Sesshomaru had seen his brother enter through the back door in the club. He made a move to follow but the sudden spike of that demonic aura from earlier made him pause. His golden eyes narrowed as he headed back out the club. He moved into an alley way and looked around for a fire escape. Sure enough, there was a fire escape that led all the way up to the roof.

A quick glance showed that no one was nearby. He bent his knees and sprang up into a powerful leap. He easily cleared the three stories and could have made it to the fourth, but he was going for stealth. He gripped the iron rails on the ladder and began to climb up. He peaked over the ledge, his eyes taking in everything on the roof.

There was a single small shack that had the entrance door, the only escape from the roof without going over the side. He saw one single human male, standing next to the ledge. A figure hung over the side of the building from a metal overhang. Kagome dangled just before the man, her sapphire eyes furious and scared at the same time. The male was chuckling at her, pushing her with his gun to cause her to swing. The metal overhang creaked dangerously with the weight shift, the chains holding her immobile not helping the strain.

His heart skipped a beat as the metal gave a bit, dropping her figure a few inches. He could hear her whimper from his place on the opposite side of the roof. From the distance, he could easily decapitate the male without harming Kagome in the process. But there was that demonic aura he felt earlier and he knew it wasn’t coming from the human male.

“Please, join us.” A dark voice crooned. A dark figure appeared standing on the ledge near where Kagome hung. She struggled against her chains at the figure’s close proximity. A trickle of blood was running from her hairline from a blow to the head. Sesshomaru felt the growl build in his chest at the harm inflicted on her small frame. He masked his surprise and anger before springing up and landing on the roof top. The crimson eyed man watched him silently. Something in the back of Sesshomaru’s mind tickled at him, something familiar…

“Naraku.” Sesshomaru sneered, suddenly recognizing the hanyou. Naraku gave a mocking bow.

“I must say, I expected you so much sooner Takahashi.” He crooned. He looked over to Kagome, her sapphire eyes glaring at him in challenge.

“Leave her alone, hanyou.” Sesshomaru growled, his hand moving to one of the two hilts on his side. Naraku narrowed his eyes on the blades.

“You wouldn’t draw you blade on an unarmed man would you?” he asked innocently.

“You are hardly unarmed.” Sesshomaru growled as he took a step forward. Naraku grabbed the human male and tossed him over the ledge. The man screamed in fury and fear as he plummeted down four stories. Kagome’s eyes watched it is horror as she watched him go down. She cringed as she heard the sound of a body compacting with the street below. Naraku leaned over and looked down, shaking his head in mockery.

“Well, it seems that it is enough of a drop to kill…a human.” His eyes sought Kagome who moved to kick him over. He grabbed her chin, dragging her chained body closer. His claws dug into her skin causing her to whimper. Sesshomaru snarled and rushed forward. Naraku stopped him in his tracks as he sliced through the chains and dangled Kagome over the ledge himself.

“Leave her out of this, Naraku!” Sesshomaru growled out, his frustration at the situation evident.

“Tell me, Lord Sesshomaru.” Naraku mocked him. “Do you think she’ll survive the fall? These chains are pretty heavy; I don’t think she could stop her fall.” Sesshomaru’s golden eyes narrowed on the hanyou, wondering what the hell he was talking about.

“You sick bastard!” Kagome finally snapped. Sesshomaru could tell why she had kept silent, a dribble of blood escape her full lips, another sign of the brutal treatment she received.

“Fetch dog.” Naraku sneered as he dropped Kagome. Her sapphire eyes grew wide as she disappeared over the ledge. Sesshomaru made a move to dive after her as Naraku blocked his way. Sesshomaru snarled in outrage, already knowing his was too late. His heart broke at the thought of finding her mangled body on the street below. He drew one of his blades, his illusion slipping revealing his demonic heritage. His growls escalated in volume, the sound of a door being slammed open alerted him to his brother’s arrival.

“Naraku!” InuYasha growled out in fury. “I should have known you would be behind this.” Naraku chuckled but stopped as he caught sight of Sango.

“So, you escaped.” He murmured. Sango huffed.

“Of course! What do you take me for?” she demanded. She lifted her hand, allowing the fire to dance across her fingertips. “It seems like your ploy to keep my abilities locked isn’t working anymore.” Naraku narrowed his eyes at her before breaking out into laughter. InuYasha and Sango pulled up short.

“What the fuck is his problem?” InuYasha demanded as he moved to his brother. Sesshomaru seemed frozen where he was, Tokijin shook slightly in his hand as his golden eyes were trained upon the edge of the roof.

“Where’s Kagome?” Sango demanded suddenly causing Naraku to laugh again.

“My dear fire child, she is probably splattered upon the ground.” His eyes danced in delight. Sango cried out and rushed to the ledge of the roof and looked down. InuYasha felt himself swallow as he continued to look at his brother. Had he been too late?

“Kagome!” Sango’s scream of horror caused Sesshomaru to visibly flinch. InuYasha jumped forward and drew the battered blade from it’s sheathe. It transformed to a large fang, wind began to dance at his sleeves as he pointed it at Naraku.

“You’re going to pay Naraku!” InuYasha cried out as he charged, his fang drawn up. Naraku chuckled darkly before tentacle like appendages sprung from his back. They flew at InuYasha who began to hack them off.

Sesshomaru watched in a detached sort of way before shaking himself. He was acting like a fool, there was something else going on here. And as soon as Naraku’s blood was running along his blade he intended to find out. He moved forward, Tokijin singing in his hand as his brother moved with Tetsusiaga.

Sango paid them no mind as she looked down at the street. Her friend’s body was on a car, the dented metal splayed in different directions. Her dark eyes narrowed as she felt a distinct chill in the air. She breathed a sigh of relief. Kagome was alive, pissed but alive. She glanced back at the battle going on, her eyes widening at the awesome force the two brothers posed. Sesshomaru looked ethereal with the weird markings on his face and wrists. His ears were pointed instead of the furry appendages that InuYasha sported.

“Wind Scar!” InuYasha’s sword swung down, electric currents of electricity and wind ripping through the roof. She squealed as she leapt off the building, using her ability to slow down and land gracefully next to the car. Her appearance caused many a drunken bystander to move away.

From where she was standing she could see the frost coating the ground. Her breathe came out in visible puffs as she listened to chains rattle. A groan followed the sound as her friend sat up on the car. Her hands gripped her head as she leaned forward.

“Kagome?” Sango asked softly. Kagome’s head slowly looked towards her, a cool blue frost creeping in around the corner of her eyes. Sango moved back, knowing that something awesome was about to happen. Kagome shook herself a bit before she moved off the car. She stood a little shaky next to Sango as she glanced up at the building.

“Save the world?” she croaked out. Sango glanced over, her own eyes seeping an orange and red swirl. Kagome seemed to shake herself a bit. She moved her neck a bit, a satisfying crack making her feel slightly better. She was still covered in blood but Sango didn’t look any better.

“Fuck yes.” Sango said. Both females looked up and shot up into the air. People who had gathered around began clamering and shouting for someone to call the police.

“It’s the Elementals!” they cried as they waited for the outcome of the battle.

Nothing they threw at the bastard was working. For every damn appendage they took off at least three would take its place. It was becoming a pointless battle.

“Damn!” InuYasha cursed as he ducked another appendage before cutting it off completely. He could hear his brother growl in annoyance as well as they pulled back slightly.

“Where is Sango?” Sesshomaru asked suddenly, not noticing the female anywhere. InuYasha paled as he frantically looked around the roof.

“Damn it! Where the hell did she run off to?” a sudden gust of steamy frigid air hit the roof’s occupants. All three males turned to the two females perched on the roof’s ledge. Sango and Kagome stood there, the full moon framing them as their glared at their enemy.

“Kagome.” Sesshomaru sighed in relief. She was alive, he would question why later. The distant sound of sirens alerted them to the approaching authorities.

“Stupid bystanders.” Kagome said as she zoomed to where the two males stood followed by Sango.

“Well, I’m sure seeing someone fall four stories and then get back up like it was nothing would do that.” Sango said dryly as she stared down Naraku. Her hands curled into fists, fire dancing along her hands and up her forearms. Her eyes began to glow like the depths of hell burned within her. She and InuYasha moved to one side of the roof. Sesshomaru edged Kagome towards the opposite side, taking note that her eyes looked as if a frost had glazed them over.

“I am sorry I didn’t tell you who I was.” She whispered as he could see her breath.

“We both have our secrets.” He said indifferently. She tilted her head back, her frosted eyes revealing nothing of what she felt. She smiled, blood stained lips making her look wicked.

“I can tell.” She said as looked back towards Naraku. The inu brothers raised their blades together, their individual attacks swirling about the wicked edges. The two females raised their hands. Fire revolved around Sango, building till it reached the sky. Artic winds whipped around Kagome, ice coating the roof top making Naraku fight to keep his footing.

Everything was released at once.

A large clash of ice, fire, and demonic energy shook the entire building. Naraku’s scream of fury and pain echoed through the night as the wail of sirens became louder. The building continued to shake as the males grabbed their women and leapt from the roof. They landed easily on the street away from the building. They watched as stumbling people rushed from the collapsing building.

“We have to stop the building before it collapses on everyone!” Sango shouted as she rushed forward followed closely by Kagome.

“Damn it, she’s going to be the death of me!” InuYasha snarled in frustration. He gripped the side of the building throwing his weight against it as Sesshomaru did the same to the other side. The females were in the air, Kagome using her ice ability to stable the building while Sango seared the metal supports together.

By this time the news crews had arrived and were eagerly taping while authorities rushed to get all the people out of the building.

“It’s clear!” the chief of police, Wyhte called up to the Elementals. A suction sound engulfed those in the area before the building collapsed upon itself. A cheer went up in the crowd as the females floated down to the ground where they were engulfed in their males’ arms.

“Yes, you are seeing it live! The Elementals have just prevented the BarStorm Club from killing hundreds of innocent lives!” a news woman’s voice drifted to them.

“Yes, I have just had it confirmed that the Boss of the drug gangs was in the building when it collapsed. The city is once again saved…” the people continued on with their reports as the females laughed.

“Feh.” InuYasha mumbled as he pulled Sango closer to him.

“Indeed.” Sesshomaru kissed Kagome’s forehead as she winced at the cut there. “How can you stand all this attention?”

“Eh.” Sango shrugged. “We usually don’t stick around long enough to listen to it.”

“They’re still here!” someone shouted.

“Oh damn.” Kagome said as she fumbled for her shades. Sango did the same and slipped them on, their hair shielding the majority of their faces where the blood could not.

“Here they are the Elementals, live!” someone shouted. Bright flashes erupted before their eyes causing the two males to growl in irritation. The police worked furiously to keep them back but were having a hard time keeping the ever growing crowd under control.

“Tell us, are you going to stay in the city now that the big bosses have been taken down?” someone shouted. Sango looked over at Kagome. Kagome shrugged.

“Who knows?” Sango answered softly, taking comfort from InuYasha arms. He smirked at her before kissing the top of her head. The press seemed to suddenly take notice of the strange males. The questions continued in force.

“Who are they?”

“Do they have abilities like you two?”

“Are they even human?”

“Enough, you vultures!” Chief Wyhte shouted as he stood in front of the Elementals.

“Who are they?” the crowd seemed to demand together. The Chief turned to them with an apology in his eyes. The girls suddenly grinned.

“Sidekicks!” Kagome pointed up. Sango laughed hysterically as the two males sputtered in indignation.

“Have fun coming up with a name!” Sango said as both females were grabbed up by the males. With a flurry of movement InuYasha bounded off with Sango while Sesshomaru snatched Kagome up in his arms and took off in his orb of light.

The apartment was cozy after taking a very long shower. Sango was sprawled on the couch, InuYasha doing wonders with his hands and her neglected back. Kagome was seated on Sesshomaru’s lap, calling up her favorite Chinese place.

“Hey Chan!” She ignored Sesshomaru’s glare at the sound of the male voice, instead she played with his pointed ears. “Double the usual! Fortune cookies the whole thing…hey what’s that suppose to mean?! I’m feeding four mouths here!”

“Don’t forget the soy sauce!” InuYasha shouted from the couch. Kagome grinned.

“You heard the man! Don’t be stingy…well if you’re going to buy be a damn bottle of soy sauce then fine! What I pay for that shit you call lo mien I deserve plenty of sauce to give it taste…yeah…see you soon Chan! What? Name!? You want a name? Since when?”

“Takahashi…” Sesshomaru growled out. Kagome blinked at him before repeating the name and hanging up.

“I have a name you know.” She told him.

“Who is this Chan?” Sesshomaru demanded as he tossed the phone. Kagome looked at him oddly.

“The delivery boy?” she answered as if he were a child. He growled playfully at her, watching her curl her fingers and snarl at him. He grinned before snapping his fangs.

“I want to see this dog form.” Sango chirped from the couch where InuYasha was purring as she rubbed his ears.

“It would destroy the building.” Sesshomaru sounded way too smug.

“You better be house trained.” Kagome mumbled. InuYasha snorted somewhere behind her as her sapphire eyes twinkled at Sesshomaru. “Now about that name thing.” Her eyes narrowed. He shifted uncomfortably for a moment.

“This Sesshomaru intends to take you as his mate.” He said. Her sapphire eyes widened at him.

“What? Did you just refer to yourself?” she asked him. He looked at her incredulously. She laughed.

“I am the Lord of the Western Lands from where I am from, it is proper.” He answered haughtily.

“Oh Kagome! You would be like, royalty!” Sango laughed. Kagome mumbled some choice words from her place in Sesshomaru’s lap before the doorbell rang. She moved to spring towards the door but Sesshomaru deposited her in the floor.

“Hey! That hurts!” she whined as she rubbed her abused bottom. InuYasha frowned thoughtfully for a moment.

“Hey, did we leave my car by the building?” he looked at Sango. Sango didn’t look at him and looked away. Kagome blushed.

“Uh, do you by chance…drive a black mustang?” she asked him. InuYasha looked at her a few moments.

“Yeah, how did you know?” he asked her. Kagome laughed sheepishly.

“I hit it when I was thrown from the building.”

“What?! You destroy my car?!” he demanded in a fury. He moved to pounce her causing her to squeal and run to Sesshomaru who had the food.

“Blame him! He didn’t catch me!” Kagome said as she dove behind Sesshomaru’s form. He glared at her, not really liking the fact that he failed to save her even if she survived the fall.

“Feh.” InuYasha said as he crossed his arms over his chest.

“Aw, you’re so cute!” Sango laughed as she snatched some food from Sesshomaru before heading to the kitchen. “Hey! There’s only one Dr. Pepper left.” Kagome didn’t need to hear that twice before she darted past Sesshomaru to the kitchen. She greedily hid the can from him as he cornered her. She pouted.

“But I’m addicted!” she cried out.

“Hn.” He said before tossing her over his shoulder and taking the can for himself. She squealed as he pressed the cold can to her backside. Sango laughed and InuYasha snorted into his food.

Who would have ever guessed that when he and his brother left their homes that they would find their mates in the most unlikely of people?

“Hey…” InuYasha thought suddenly. “Do you think there are any others out there like you two?” the bickering between Kagome and Sesshomaru stopped at they looked at him. His ears plastered to his head as he ‘feh’d. Sango shrugged.

“Who knows?” she said. “If there are some out there, then they’re on their own.”

“Damn straight.” Kagome said as she resumed her fight for the last can of Dr. Pepper.

What a beautiful ending.
