Deciet and Malice

Chapter 6:

The three of them descended into the courtyard, ready and looking for any signs of trouble.

However, it appeared as if the castle grounds were deserted.

"Kagome, Kagome!" yelled Inuyasha, looking around for any signs of the miko.

"Can you pick up her scent, Inuyasha?" asked Miroku as the monk kept his eyes traveling from one building to another.

"Yeah, it's faint, mixed in with the stench of Naraku, but it's there. I believe it's coming from...that direction." replied the hanyou, leaping towards one of the buildings over to his left.

"Wait, Inuyasha!" shouted Miroku, but it was too late.

Just as Inuyasha reached the building, it exploded violently, throwing him backwards onto the ground. Miroku and Sango rushed up to help him into a sitting position.

When the dust and smoke settled, where the building had once stood emerged a trio of forms. Hakudoshi, in his barrier, flanked on either side by Kanna and Kagura.

"Inuyasha, what a suprise to see you here. I personally didn't think you would find us at all. Although, it always pays to prepare for the unexpected." laughed the little kid as his trusty pike formed into his hands. Kagura prepared her fan, while Kanna raised her mirror, ready to deflect any attacks back at their opponents.

"Uhhh, I don't have time to mess with little pests like you. Where is Kagome?" demanded Inuyasha as he prepared his sword for an attack.

"Ohh, her? I can still hear her screams of agony when Naraku had his way with her earlier. Poor little girl." replied the kid, not really answering the question, although that hardly mattered.

His face flushed with anger, Inuyasha unleashed the wind scar against Hakudoshi. The kid merely threw up a barrier before using his special ability to deflect the wind scar.

Inuyasha and the other two jumped upwards to avoid the deflected wind scar, the hanyou next unleashing an adamant barrage that cut through Hakudoshi's barrier and ripped the little kid to pieces.

"Have you forgotten? You can't kill me." taunted the little kid as he began to reform himself.

"Oh, you think so? Well we'll just see about that. Wind tunnel!" yelled Miroku as he unleashed the power of his hand against the kid.

"Foolish monk." replied Hakudoshi as he let go of a saimyosho horde against his hand.

"Wind scar!" countered Inuyasha, the energy attack missing Hakudoshi but killing all of the insects that had been racing towards the wind tunnel. Hakudoshi found himself being pulled closer and closer towards the tip of the void. He looked around to see Kagura and Kanna still standing place.

"Umm, a little help you two?" he asked mildly, already fearing what the answer would be.

Snapping her fan shut, Kagura confirmed his fears.

"I don't think so. To hell with Naraku, I don't like anyone who can read minds." drawled out Kagura, with Kanna nodding her head in ascent.

"Damn you to hell..." the kid managed to say before he was sucked into the wind tunnel. Miroku shut it down, wrapping his arm back up.

"You'll find Kagome down below in the dungeons. If I'm not mistaken, I believe she just killed Kohaku in defense after the boy tried to rape her. At least, that's what Naraku told me before I came out here." spoke Kagura.

As she said this, Sango tightened her hand on her weapon, while Miroku's eyes blazed.

"You lie!" accused Inuyasha.

"Like I said, I heard it from Naraku. Which, by the way, he's currently battling Sesshomaru on the other side of the castle. And don't ask me what the dog demon has up his ass this time. But knowing Naraku the demon lord had it coming to him anyways." explained Kagura, before taking off into the air, with Kanna on her feather.

"Come, let's find Kagome." said Miroku, taking off running towards the dungeons. The other two quickly followed behind him.

"Sesshomaru, how nice to see you again, after so long." said Naraku, confronting the demon lord head on.

"Naraku, you're just as pitiful as ever." replied the dog demon lord stoically.

"Big words coming from a one armed dog. Tell me, are you ready to be absorbed?" asked Naraku, extending his tentacles from his barrier.

Sesshomaru, in one swift motion, unsheathed Tokijin and sliced through his tentacles, releasing a cloud of miasma that had no effect on the demon lord, although it did kill all of the surrounding vegetation.

"Not bad. Let's see how you do against a hundred demons." taunted Naraku, releasing a swarm of demons from his body.

"You're deluded if you think those demons will have a chance against me.....Dragon Strike." said Sesshomaru, holding his sword level to the ground as he unleashed his most powerful attack, killing all of the demons and weakening Naraku's barrier significantly.

Suddenly, Naraku felt a presence vanish, and knew right there and then that Hakudoshi had been killed.

'Kagura, Kanna, damn you to hell.'

Not knowing that Inuyasha and the others were looking for Kagome instead of coming after him, Naraku began scanning around to make sure they didn't ambush him.

Leaving him wide open to Sesshomaru.

Feeling a sudden surge of energy, Naraku repaired his barrier just in time to intercept his sword.

Leaping up into the sky, Naraku formed his cloud around himself.

"We'll finish this another time, Sesshomaru. For now, it's farewell." said Naraku, adding his usual amount of evil sinister sounding laughing as he took off into the night-air.

'That's what you think....' thought Sesshomaru, as he transformed into fluffy and took off into the night, hunting Naraku via scent alone.

Her smell was getting stronger now, although it was mixed in with human blood, blood that did not belong to her...

"Kagome, Kagome!" yelled Inuyasha, throwing open a dungeon cell door where her smell emanated the most from.

The smells that bombarded his nose, her pain, his blood, Naraku's arousal and sex, all of it overwhemled, and Inuyasha fell back out into the hallway, temporarily knocked out into a dizzy spell.

Sango was the next into the room, not having a nose that could pick up all these smells, and saw Kagome cradling an obviously dead Kohaku. As she watched, Kagome raised her head, but any sparkle that had been in her eyes had long since disappeared.

"Sango, Miroku....glad to see that you're ok..." she spoke softly, her throat still sore from earlier.

Hearing her speak drew Sango out of her stupor.

Pratically running over to the two of them, Sango drew back her hand before slapping Kagome across the face as hard as she could.

"How could you Kagome? How dare you strike down my brother! We were supposed to save him, not kill him!" she yelled, before breaking out into tears herself. She snatched the little kid's body from Kagome's lap and cradled it into her own.

Kagome looked stunned, and was indeed stunned, lying back on her elbows.

"Wha...but I didn't...?" Kagome stammered, before breaking out into tears herself all over again.

"Come on, let's get out of here. The sooner we get back to Kaede's village and tend to everyone's injuries, the better. We can discuss what happened after everyone has had time to recover." spoke Miroku, walking over to Kagome and picking her up, wrapping his outer-layer of robes around her.

Gathering up the hanyou, who began to re-awaken, they departed the castle, even as it began to dissolve....
