Chapter 6: It Begins
Kagome was nervous. She didn’t really know if Sesshomaru would show, but she had a feeling he would. He didn’t seem the type that would stand someone up. She sighed as she gave one last pat to her hair. When she had got home earlier, she had taken a luxurious bath with lavender and lilac scented oil. It had soothed her nerves and relaxed her muscles.
Now, Kagome was seated in front of her vanity mirror, hoping that Sesshomaru approved of her look. Her hair was in a french braid, and was pinned up in a small bun at the nape of her neck. She was wearing just a little bit of make-up to accentuate her eyes. Her dress came to the back of her knees. It was made of silk, the finest thing in her wardrobe. The dress was a soft misty gray, was cut high in the throat, but plunged in a deep V to the middle of her back. She finished off her outfit with a pair of 3-inch black satin pumps. The only jewelry to adorn her was the pearl earrings that belonged to her late grandmother.
Kagome felt every inch a sexy woman. ‘I haven’t felt like this for a long time.’ She thought wondrously, as she continued to look at her reflection. ‘In fact, the last time I wore this dress was for Inu Yasha’s dinner. But I am not going to spoil my evening with thoughts of him.’ She thought resolutely.
So, giving a final pat to her hair to ensure it would stay, Kagome grabbed her small black clutch purse that held her lipstick, her ID, and a little money, just incase, and headed downstairs to wait for Sesshomaru.
As she was rounding the stairs to go into the living room, her doorbell rang. Kagome glanced at the clock on the wall. ‘Is it really 7 o’clock already?’ she wondered as she went to answer the door.

Sesshomaru was impatient. He wanted to see her again, now! So he had quickly ended his meeting with Koga Wolf, and had arrived 15 minutes early at Kagome’s. He could smell her scent everywhere at the shrine. So he took himself on a small tour before he met her.
The shrine was not a large one, but it held a rather old tree that pulsed with a magical aura, as well as an old well house. Both had the feel of old magic, so he decided to let them be and explore some more.
He came across a small caretaker’s cottage, set behind the main house. ‘This must be where the people who run the shrine when she is working live.’ He thought absently. He glanced at his watch. There was still 3 minutes to wait, but he wanted to see her, so he strode to the door and rang the doorbell.
Sesshomaru could feel her pure aura coming closer. He almost sighed in bliss, than almost gasped when she opened the door. She was exquisite! She had her hair up, baring her neck for him. Her dress clung to her curves in all the right places. His mouth started to water. He wanted her NOW! But he was man enough to control himself, just.
His beast on the other hand was clambering inside, wanting out. *Mine! Mine! I want her! Claim her for us! * His beast called. *Can’t you smell her arousal, from just looking at us? She wants us too! Her aura is calling! Take her as our mate! *
‘Hush!’ Sesshomaru commanded his beast. ‘We will discuss this later.’
*You know how I feel about her. The decision rests with your acceptance. * His beast growled before it retreated deeper into Sesshomaru’s mind.
‘Hnn.’ He grunted mentally in reply, as he returned his full attention to the very appealing miko before him.
“Hello Kagome,” Sesshomaru practically purred. He extended his hand, palm up towards her. “Shall we go?”
Kagome shivered at his tone, but placed her hand in his after she shut and locked the door. She felt a slight jolt through her arm. ‘Wow! What was that? I didn’t feel that before!’ She thought.
Sesshomaru felt the slight jolt as well, but he figured it was his beast wanting to touch her. He growled at his beast in his head, ‘Back off!’
*That wasn’t me! That was you! * His beast snarled back. *You’re just as hot for her, and want her just as much as I do! So get over yourself, and mate the woman! *
Sesshomaru took quick inventory, and was stunned to discover it was true. He truly wished to have Kagome as his mate! ‘But,’ his logical mind argued as he assisted her into the limo. ‘We don’t know anything really about her. So let us use this dinner to better get to know our mate-to-be, hmm?’
*You know where I stand on this matter. * His beast replied.
‘Fine! By the end of the evening we shall know if she is worthy to become our mate. And if she is, we shall inform her, agreed?’ His logical mind questioned.
*Fine. * His beast agreed, as Sesshomaru got in the car.
