Desperado 6 – Inuyasha’s Confession

It was morning by the time Kagome and Inuyasha left the tree. She was still a bit tired, so Inuyasha carried her. He could smell food cooking from Kaede’s hut. It made him realize just how hungry he was. Kagome sounded hungry as well…her stomach was louder than her moans. He laughed inwardly at the thought and looked up slightly. Last night was the send time he had been able to be within her walls. He wanted to have so much more. He wanted to take her away to a hidden place and make love to her until she begged him to stop and let her rest for a while. He would be quite proud of himself he was able to. But, when the time was right he would.

“Inuyasha…can you…put me down now? I’d like to walk.” Kagome smiled softly at him. He nodded and let her walk. They were silent the rest of the way, but Kagome’s hand was in Inuyasha’s, so nothing was needed to be said.

Until they entered Kaede’s hut. At first, they didn’t notice anything. But when Miroku looked away guiltily, and Sango’s face turned beat red, Shippou and Kirara hid their faces and old Kaede focused on the pot of food, they realized something was up. Slowly, Inuyasha took a seat. Kagome was nervous and sat next to him.

“What’s everyone’s problem?” Inuyasha barked. Sango’s face turned redder, Miroku snuck a glance at the couple, and quickly turned away. Kaede seemingly didn’t hear them. However, it was Shippou who spilled the beans.

“Just how long have you two been together?” He accused.

“To..together?” Kagome blushed. “What do you mean, together?”

Miroku cleared his throat. “Together…intimately.”

Kagome held her breath and hid her face in Inuyasha’s arm. He growled* “And just why in hell are you asking us that?” He would have gladly, and proudly, answered the question, but he knew Kagome was embarrassed enough, and he didn’t want to get sit.

“Well, you see…last night…we uh…we…followed you…” Sango looked up at Kagome and Inuyasha. “We wanted to make sure everything was okay with you two…and when we found you…well…everything…was….more than okay.”

Miroku had snuck up next to Inuyasha and rests his hand on his shoulder. “Inuyasha…we always knew you were a dog demon, but we never knew just how much canine instinct you had.”

Inuyasha decked Miroku hard over the head. “Shut the hell up you lecherous monk! Don’t go making jokes about what Kagome and I are doing!” His eyes narrowed dangerously.

The monk blinked. He hadn’t expected…wait…yes he had. Even though Inuyasha was a brute, he cared deeply for Kagome and did everything he could to protect her. Even protecting her from the prying eyes of his friends. Miroku backed off. “I meant no harm Inuyasha and Kagome, I apologize.” He bowed his head and moved away.

“I don’t get why everyone is so interested.” Shippou folded his arms. “They were just kissing. Kissing isn’t a bad thing.”

Kagome giggled. Everyone turned to her. Inuyasha was confused. What was she giggling about? Slowly the miko looked down at Shippou. “You’re right Shippou. There was nothing wrong with what Inuyasha and I did.” She looked to everyone. They nodded. Inuyasha smiled when her eyes met with his. He didn’t give it much thought before he pulled her into his lap and kissed her in front of everyone. He didn’t let it go to far, after all, what he wanted to do, wasn’t meant for they’re eyes to see.

Sango’s smile faded into a frown and then a growl. She turned to the monk. “Miroku…”

The monk smiled innocently. “What? I just thought that since they were…” Sango’s fist met the spot Inuyasha’s had on the monk head.

“That doesn’t give you the right to start feeling me up!” The gang laughed. Inuyasha was too caught up in his moment with Kagome that he didn’t know what was going on. But he was smiling. He was smiling because he didn’t have to hide his feelings for Kagome any longer. He didn’t have to pretend like there wasn’t anything going on between them. He could finally tell Kouga to leave –his- woman alone, and there wouldn’t be any argument from him. That wolf would have to give up finally and go back to his wolf tribe to find a mate worthy of him. If that was possible. Inuyasha loved knowing Kagome was his finally. He would be hers. Every part of him. He leaned over and nibbled her ear.

“I love you Kagome…” He whispered into her ear. He only meant for Kagome to hear him…but everyone heard his confession. He looked up when he felt Kagome jerk. Again, everyone’s faces showed shock, but after a few moments, smiles broke through. He turned his gaze to Kagome. She was still in shock. She was also very aroused. He smiled even more.

“Inuyasha…can…I ta…talk to you out…side?” She stood slowly, heading out the door. Inuyasha gave a toothy grin to the other and walked to the door. He stopped.

“Don’t any of you follow us this time. We’re not putting on a public show for your enjoyment.” He walked out. He looked around for Kagome, but didn’t see her. He began to panic when her scent floated from above him. He didn’t want to alarm the others, so he took off without telling them. He could handle this. He couldn’t smell Naraku or any other demons. All he could smell was bones and graveyard soil. Inuyasha’s world seemed to crash down around him. Bones and graveyard soil? That could only mean one thing. His ears flattened on his head as his dream came rushing back to his memories. Kikyo was behind this…he had to stop Kikyo. He had to protect Kagome, at any costs.

“Inuyasha…come hither.”

Inuyasha stopped. He couldn’t believe his eyes…or his nose for that matter. There she was. The was the fortune teller he met in Kagome’s era. Her hut, her inscents, everything…was right there, exactly as it had been in Kagome’s time. He slowly and cautiously walked over to her. He covered his nose with the sleeve of his haori.

“Fear not Inuyasha, I won’t harm you…I didn’t harm you the last time, did I?” She smiled her infamous toothless grin. He sneered.

“Where the hell do you keep coming from? And what the hell do you want? I have no time for this! I’ve gotta save…”

“Your Queen of Hearts?” She sat down. He looked at her strangely. “Yes, I am well aware that you’re running after Kagome to free her from your former lovers hands.” She waved for him to sit down. “Tell me Inuyasha, how long did your heart battle your mind before you finally came to the decision about your Queens?”

“A while…a long while…Even before I met you, I was fighting with myself to make up my mind…but I never could.”

“How did you come to your final decision?”

He pondered for moment and sat down, looking at her squarely in the eyes. There was something about her eyes that showed him she wasn’t exactly who she claimed to be. But he remembered why he had finally decided on Kagome. “ She never wanted me to change…She’s stood by me even when everyone else stood against me. Each time we’re in battle…I fight just a little harder each time, just to protect her. I can see her getting stronger and stronger in order to keep me in line…I see how she stops hunting for the jewel shards just so she can help someone who’s in need of assistance. I can’t stand that part about her…but I can’t help but love it about her as well.”

“Oh, so the one you choose was…”

“It was Kagome. It feels right…it feels good.”

“Well Inuyasha, I do not know which one of these women truly is the Queen of Hearts. She pulled out the five cards from before and pointed to the center one. Inuyasha’s heart jumped. Kagome and Kikyo were the women on the card. But the card changed. Kikyo was wearing a blue kimono and Kagome’s was red. The last time he had seen the card, they had all been a sepia colour. He looked to the old woman questionally.

“You have brought colour to the light.” She smiled. “You see Inuyasha, you’re queen of diamonds has already let you down. Her promises were fables that left you empty and broken.” Her smile faded. “Will you deny your Queen of Hearts? Will you pretend you never met her?”

Inuyasha’s face grew red with angry. “Why would I ever pretend I don’t know Kagome! What purpose would that serve?!”

“Oh young hanyou, you twisted fate will find you out, and when it does, you’ll have no one else to turn to, except the Queen of Diamonds. But he help will come at a great cost.”

He growled and stood up. “SHUT UP! I don’t believe any of your bullshit!”

“You do! You are thinking right now that I am implementing those dreams into your mind. The ones where Kikyo kills Kagome, and the old priestess’ village burns to the ground and the monk dies when his heart is ripped from his chest.”

He paled and stared at her. How did she know those dreams? Who was she really?

“Oh yes, Inuyasha, I know all about your dreams. I know all your fears, and all your regrets. I know what move you will make before you make it.” She stood up. The wind began to pick up around her. “Leave Inuyasha! Leave now and find your Queens. Protect your heart and protect those closest to you, or you will be their undoing!” Smoke rose from no where. The wind and the smoke blinded Inuyasha, suffocating him. He fell to his knees coughing. Like before, she was gone. Not a trace of her was left. No scent, no indication she was there. Was he hallucinating again?

“No…I’m not…” He said to himself, picking up the card of the two Queens. “She really does exist.” He frowned. Kagome’s scent tickled his nose. “I’m coming Kagome.” He bounded off into the woods once more.

Kikyo stared at her reincarnation who struggled against her soul collectors. She hadn’t wanted to take Kagome like this. No, she just wanted to see Inuyasha again. It had been far too long. But Kikyo had changed her mind when she heard Inuyasha uttering those words she so longed to hear him say to her, to Kagome. She could not forgive that. He had promised her a long time ago to be hers. He was going to be mortal for her. He promised her he would go to hell with her. She knew that was what he wanted in his heart. She shook her head and stared at Kagome.

“How long have you been plotting to steal Inuyasha away from me?” Kikyo accused Kagome.

“I haven’t been plotting to take him from you! I’m always second place to him when it comes to you. I’m like his…consolation prize.” She looked down. Was Kagome still second place to Inuyasha, even though they were now intimate with each other?

“Lies. I know you are lying to me.” Kikyo’s calm demeanor steadily grew hot. She had seen the ways Inuyasha protected Kagome. Why did he never protect her like that? Why did he tell her he loved her?

“I’m not lying to you Kikyo! I swear it!”

“Then why are you making love to him?” Her cold eyes stared into her soul. “You cannot lie about that.” She turned away sadly.

“Kikyo…I…” She looked away. How was she going to get out of this? Inuyasha would never lift a finger to hurt Kikyo. If he even showed up. “Kikyo…I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be.” Inuyasha’s voice came through the brush. His eyes were intensely angry.

“Inuyasha.” Kikyo and Kagome breathed out gently. Kikyo glared at her counter-part, then turned back to Inuyasha.

“How could you do this Kikyo? Huh? How could you kidnap Kagome?” He stepped towards her.

“You betrayed me Inuyasha. Not once, but now twice. How could you give her your heart?”

“I’m the one askin’ the questions here Kikyo! ANSWER ME!”

She took a step back. She had never heard him so angry before. She drew her bow. “Tell me you don’t love her. Tell me you’re only with her because you need that attention. Tell me she means nothing to you!!”

“She does. And I love her. I’m sorry Kikyo. You’ll always be in my heart though.” He stepped closer to her.

Kikyo shook her head in denial. “No…no you couldn’t have…you promised me!” She shot her arrow, piercing Inuyasha’s shoulder. He cried out.

“INUYASHA!” Kagome tried to run to him, but a barrier held her back. “INUYASHA!”

“Silence!” Kikyo walked over to Inuyasha slowly, drawing another arrow. “If I can’t have you Inuyasha…then neither will she…”

“Don’t count on it Kikyo…” He stood up quickly and knocked the bow from her hand and ever so gently held her in his arms. “Kikyo, you must understand. You died…we died. And although my love for you will always be a part of us…I cannot stay with you. I cannot be with her and Kagome. I can’t protect you both. So, I had to decide…It wasn’t easy for me Kikyo…It took me so long to finally decide that it was Kagome whom my heart desired.”

Kikyo clenched him, she refused to let him go. “I can’t bare to see you with her…I can’t bare knowing that you’re making love to her, when you should be doing that to me.” She looked at his face. If she could cry, she would have created rivers with her tears. He shook his head.

“Kikyo…Release Kagome.” He lifted her chin. “Whatever you do to her, you do to me. If you harm her in anyway from now on…I’ll hunt you down and make you pay…” Inuyasha knew he was being harsh. He loved her yes, but he loved Kagome so much more. What Kagome and he have is real. What he and Kikyo had…well, that’s faded and dead now. Kikyo pushed away from him.

“I hate you Inuyasha…” She turned slowly and started to walk away. “I’ll never forgive you for what you’ve done to me…” Inuyasha looked away. He could hear his own heart aching once more for her. He looked up only to see Kagome standing in front of him. She was crying again.

“You’re such a baby…” He told her as his arms wrapped around her. “You never stop crying.” He heard a small giggle from her throat.

“I’m crying because I’m happy and sad at the same time.”

“Why are you sad?”

“Because I can feel Kikyo’s pain in losing you.” She looked up to him. “Its painful to lose the one you love with all you’re heart,”

“I know Kagome…and I hope I never have to lose you.”
