Abilities

Hey! Long time no see! I'm glad the site is up and working again, maybe now you can all get the chapters you are looking for. I've also posted this on a single spark, cause it is Sess/Kag. I'm going to post just as many as I have up on that site. I hope you all are enjoying the story. I’m trying to keep the science down to a minimum, but sometimes I get carried away. I’m up for any suggestions. And nobody has told me if they like the title or not. Please do!
Oh, and just so no one gets confused… I don’t own Inuyasha.

~Destined to the Stars~

~Chapter 4~

~Abilities~

“Awe, come on. You haven’t even seen my training facilities yet. How can you say no?” She whined. She had been trying to convince him to train at her home for at least twenty minutes and it was getting her nowhere. He seemed to think hers wouldn’t be suitable. It infuriated her to no end that he wouldn’t put any faith in anything she built because she was “ningen,” but getting angry wouldn’t help convince him. That much she knew. A light bulb went off in her head and she smiled. She had a pretty good idea what make him change his mind. “I’ll leave you alone and won’t say a word to you for the rest of the weekend.”

Sesshoumaru quirked an eyebrow in interest. The idea of not having to listen to her never ending prattling was quite promising indeed. “Starting when?”

Her eyes lit up. “As soon as I show you the facilities. The computer can take you through the rest.”

Sesshoumaru nodded his head and she squealed with excitement causing him to wince. The fleeting thought that it might have been worth it just to see her that happy again, quickly leading him to think his brain had been scrambled by her high pitched squeals.

She grabbed his hand in hers and led him through the house, never giving him the chance for him to object. She didn’t want to chance him changing his mind. She pushed a brick that lined her hall and smiled as the wall next to her slid open to reveal a starlit hallway. It was almost like walking into space and even with his enhanced vision he had a hard time making out the doors. He was startled out of his thoughts when they were greeted the moment they stepped into the hall.

“Good afternoon Kagome. I hope you are having a great day today.” The feminine voice echoed through the halls. Sesshoumaru spun around trying to pinpoint the voice.

Kagome laughed half-heartedly but didn’t get to answer. “How about we skip that then.” The voice quickly interrupted. “Why don’t you introduce me to your new friend?”

She nodded and turned to Sesshoumaru who looked confused. “This is the computer I was talking about. Sesshoumaru meet Nanashi. Nanashi meet Sesshoumaru. Sesshoumaru will be accompanying me into space and needs to freshen up his training. Please help him and make sure not to make it too easy. Also, if you could change the scenery in here I would really appreciate it. I’m sure not everyone is used to walking through the stars.”

“Of course Kagome. What type of scenery would you like to be up?” Nanashi asked as their surrounding paled to white.

She shrugged her shoulders and walked out of the hall. “I’ll leave that up to you to decide.”

She left a stunned Sesshoumaru to stare at the walls as they disappeared and left a forest in their place. “Where would you like to start?” Nanashi asked.

“Show me everything.” He demanded, still not used to speaking to thin air.

“How about you start off in the dojo. I promise you will be challenged.” She offered.

“You better give it your all then.” He snarled. Kagome had said the same thing earlier, but he had yet to be challenged in any dojo but his. “I am no ordinary being.”

Laughter echoed throughout the halls. “I’m counting on it. Perhaps you might be able to break a record or two.”

He growled under his breath. “I will break them all.”

Nanashi laughed again and lit the way to the dojo. “I wouldn’t count on it.”

~*~

Kagome walked into the living room to see Sango on the phone. When she was spotted she quickly said her goodbyes and hung up the phone. Kagome rolled her eyes. She knew what was going on. It happened every time she had Sango stay over. They didn’t go out last night so there was definitely going to be a party at her place tonight. She was so glad she had another addition put on the house just for Sango’s elaborate parties. “So should I set up the party room or are you being secretive for a different reason?”

Sango’s eyes lit up. “You have a party room!?”

Kagome narrowed her eyes. “Who’s coming?”

Sango bit her lip and glanced away. “Just a few of our friends.” Kagome just stared at her with her hands on her hips expecting more of an answer. But it was the only way she could get her to socialize.

“Oh all right.” She bit out. “Miroku, Shippou, Kikyo and Inuyasha, Kouga, Ayame, Shiori, Kirara, Hojyou, and Jeneji.”

Kagome groaned. “You know they’re going to make me dance.”

She shrugged her shoulders and took her cell back out. “It’s not our fault that you are an amazing dancer with her own light effects.” She spun back around to face Kagome before the other person picked up the line. “Oh, and the party is at nine.”

She glared at her as she chattered on the phone. She really didn’t want to do any of this and it annoyed her to no end that she always ended up doing it anyway. She hoped Sesshoumaru was just looking around because she really needed to let off some steam at the dojo.

She wasn’t surprised when Nanashi didn’t speak to her upon her arrival but she was when she opened the door to the dojo. There, running through the obstacle course was a half-dressed, bloody and sweaty Sesshoumaru. If she hadn’t promised not to say a word she would have ran up to him and told him to stop. Apparently Nanashi thought his determination to beat her records was amusing, that or she was testing his abilities.

She watched in horror as timed blades lashed out at his body as he pushed his way through the trees, each cutting deeper and deeper as his body began to tire. She was beginning to think that her first assumption about Nanashi’s reason behind this correct.

Sesshoumaru couldn’t believe the condition he was in. What had started off so simple had turned into a bloody mess. Even with his youkai speed he couldn’t dodge everything that was thrown at him. There were too many and too quickly. As he felt the first blade slash through his flesh and the second cut deeper he knew he wouldn’t defeat this without major injury to his body, but he would be damned if he would admit defeat so he continued.

She shook her head frantically. He didn’t know what he was getting into and she couldn’t believe Nanashi would go along with such childish behavior. As the next three blades slashed at his body she screamed. “Nanashi! Stop this!”

He growled as he stepped away from the blade that was cutting into his neck. He could feel the blood trailing down his neck, the scent of his blood hitting his nose full force. The damn machine was doing a fine job if it was trying to kill him.

Kagome was livid. “Nanashi show yourself now!” She demanded.

Silver tendrils of light flowed into the area before Kagome, slowly fusing into the form of a woman. Nanashi bowed to Kagome as her body finished appearing. “Please forgive me. I went a little overboard. He thought he was good enough to try your level. I should have changed it before things went too far. I don't know what came over me.”

Her eyes softened as she gazed at the silver form before her, but she was still stern with her response. “If I hadn’t come in here you could have killed him Nanashi. You should know better than to let anyone practice at the same level as I. I forgive you, but it’s not me you should be apologizing to. I’m not the one who’s head you almost lopped off.”

She motioned to the door. “I suggest you two talk while you show him the rest of the facility.” There really was nothing she could do about the situation. She had been the one to create her in the first place. If it was anyone’s fault if he were hurt, it would have been hers.

Nanashi took the hint and turned to face Sesshoumaru who growled in response. She winced. “I really am sorry about that. Though I did promise you a challenge, did I not?”

Sesshoumaru took one more glance at Kagome before he left the room. There was definitely more to her than meets the eye if she could make it through that. Desire shot through his body as he watched her shake off her clothes to reveal a form-fitting leather fighting outfit underneath. He groaned as she bent over to stretch her body, giving him a wonderful view of her perfectly toned legs that melded into the perfect backside. His eyes flashed red as he pulled them away from her form and pushed on. She had kept her end of the bargain and now he was beginning to regret even making the deal.

Nanashi glared at the youkai standing before her. She could sense his increased heart rate and knew what that look in his eye meant. She didn’t know why, but she didn’t like it. She was going to have to keep an eye on him. She couldn’t have anyone breaking her master’s heart. It was already broken enough as it was. She may not be able to seriously harm him, but she could give him a run for his money.

When he glanced back at the silver image he growled. Based on the look she was giving him, he was going to be in for some trouble. “Let’s go.”

~*~

Kagome sat in the bath and let the warm water sooth her sore muscles. She hadn’t trained that hard in a good while and she was beginning to regret not quitting once her anger had subsided. She always did have a tendency to overdue it.

A smile graced her lips as her muscles began to relax and images of earlier flashed through her mind. He had to be the most elegant fighter she had ever seen, even bloodied and losing horribly. Not to mention his perfectly sculpted body that just begged her to do things she had never really thought of doing before. She shivered from the thought. She must be losing her mind. She never had this problem before, and there were plenty of good looking men that threw themselves at her. But none of them even compared to him, the perfect embodiment of a man.

“Would you like some music while you bathe?” Nanashi asked startling her out of her thoughts.

Startling her caused her to jump a little sending her straight into the water. When she re-emerged she was glaring at a giggling Nanashi, who quickly stopped laughing once she noticed the blush lightly staining her cheeks.

She put her hands on her hips and glared back at Kagome. She knew that look, and knew what it was for, but she had never seen it on her mistress’s face. That far off lovey-dovey look that she saw all too many times with Miroku, Sango, Kikyo, and Inuyasha. They had to have corrupted her mind. She never used to give any man the time of day, let alone get distracted herself. “What could have distracted you enough not to know I’m here? It better not be who I think it is. He‘s not good enough for you.”

The blush staining her cheeks spread to the rest of her face. Was she that transparent? “That is none of your business!” She yelled, trying to mask her embarrassment with anger. “Why aren’t you with Sesshoumaru?”

Nanashi bowed down. She had overstepped her bounds again. “Please forgive me. I don’t know what has been wrong with me lately. I suggest you check for a bug. As for Sesshoumaru, he is on his way back to his room.” She got up and smiled at her. “He was quite impressed with everything he saw, even if he didn’t show it.”

She smiled back at her. She couldn’t be mad at something she designed and created herself. “Why don’t you go pick something out for me to wear to the party tonight to make it up to me?”

“Will you be dancing?” She asked eagerly.

“Unfortunately they won‘t let me out of it, so yes.” She sighed.

~*~

Nanashi rummaged through her closet to find the perfect outfit, the one she had made herself for her. She grinned as she spotted the silvery white cloth in the back of the closet.

~*~

Kagome slipped her foot length lab coat over her outfit as she went to open the door. She had nearly died of shock when Nanashi came back with the outfit. The pants weren’t bad, but the top! The top made her feel so bare. Until they made her dance the lab coat was her choice of wardrobe.

She smiled as she opened the door only to greet a hanyou that apparently had a stick shoved up his ass.

“What the hell is that bastard doing here?!” Inuyasha snarled the moment he stepped in the house.

Kikyo jerked his arm roughly. “He is here and that is all that matters. There is nothing you can do about it so don’t make a scene.” She flashed Kagome a look that said she was sorry. She knew his temper drove her up the wall. She called him a temperamental brat all the time.

If she could figure out who he was talking about she would of thought about getting angry at his outburst, but she couldn’t understand who he could be talking about. Kouga hadn’t even arrived yet, so it couldn’t be him. She scanned the room for who was receiving the death glare from Inuyasha, gaze settling on Sesshoumaru. She glanced between the two a couple times and smacked herself for not getting it sooner. It was obvious that he was the famous Sesshoumaru that he was always complaining about. It was a shame she never put two and two together, but then again they were so very different.

She sighed and went to greet them plastering a smile on her face. She knew what kind of trouble would brew with both brothers in the same building and it wasn’t something she was looking forward to. She was still trying to figure out why she let her friends manipulate her so well. This night was going to be hell.

“Kikyo! I haven’t seen you in forever. How are you and Inuyasha doing?” She asked as she hugged her cousin and Inuyasha.

She clutched onto Inuyasha’s shirt and held him in place. “You better not start any trouble in my house. There is no telling what I might do to you right now.” She growled out into his ear.

It sent shivers down his spine to hear her growl out almost exactly like a demon. She had definitely hung around him too much. He nodded his head, promising to behave. She could really put a hurting on someone if she was already in a bad mood.

Sesshoumaru watched their interactions closely. She apparently knew his half-brother and bore a striking resemblance to his mate, which was odd because she didn‘t resemble her parents. He watched her as more and more people came in and she greeted each and every one the same. She was definitely one of the most affectionate humans he had ever met. He let a growl slip when that same Kouga person swept her off her feet.

“Kagome! My sweet tenshi. How I’ve missed holding you in my arms.” Kouga said as he held her in his arms bridal style.

She laughed, hitting him in the arm. “Put me down you!” She had to hit him again, but he did release his grip.

Everyone’s attention was caught when Miroku cut off all the lights and started up the music from the DJ box. Kagome smiled. Somehow he had managed to slip past everyone and find out where his favorite place was. Avoiding her friends in the dark, she moved to the middle of the dance floor. He was playing her song.

Sesshoumaru could hear everyone talking about Kagome dancing but didn’t understand how the humans could see her in the dark when even he was having trouble. He could smell the anticipation radiating off all their forms.

Nanashi elbowed him the ribs and snickered. “You’re going to wish you never made that deal.” Before he could lash out on her she disappeared, laughter fading into the music.

His eyes snapped back to Kagome who had now reached the middle of the floor and discarded her lab coat, but the only thing he could see was that she was wearing white.

Kagome smiled and closed her eyes, letting the music take over her body, hitting her wave after wave. As the intensity of the music built up she let a little more of herself free.

His eyes were glued to her form as an ancient, raw power engulfed her petite form, bathing her in a pale blue light. He could feel the power building with every dip and swerve of her body in match with the music. Her outfit shimmered in the light. Sheer silvery material covering a lacy white bra matched with sparkling white pants.

When the song hit full force so did her powers, the light bursting into blue flames. Opening her eyes she smiled as the music paused for only a moment, the flames dying down, only to come back full force with the music. It was time to show a few more of her tricks.

He couldn’t tear his eyes from her body as she continued to move her body to the music. It had to be an illusion created by the computer. Blue fire engulfed her form as she danced across the floor, pulsing to the beat, dying down, racing across her body.

Surprising everyone as the song changed the energy changed form, bathing her in a backwards rain from floor to ceiling then wrapping itself like a snake to her body. She almost laughed as she watched their reactions.

Eyes dark as the night itself locked with his amber orbs proving to him she was no mere mortal. What seemed an eternity was shattered by the next beat of the song and she continued on her way. She was not making this easy for him. He longed for her body to leave the dance floor so he could pull her away. If she didn’t stop moving her body in that way, it was exactly what he was going to do.

He was forced to growl when the scents of the others in the room reached his nose. Apparently he was not the only one affected by her display. He was grateful when the songs soon ended and they were once again engulfed in darkness.

Searching for her proved useless as she seemed to had just disappeared. As the lights were turned back on, nobody seemed to notice, or care about her disappearance. The partying continued as if nothing was out of place.

His curiosity and desire to see her got the better of him and he was quickly making his way to her room. It was the only place she could have gone and it was where her scent was freshest.

Nanashi suddenly appeared in front of him and he growled in response. She narrowed her eyes at the wandering demon. “And where do you think you’re going.”

“My whereabouts are none of your concern. Get out of my way.” He growled.

“She is my concern! Stay away from her!” She screamed at him.

Having had enough trouble from an image he pushed on, walking straight through Nanashi. “I cannot stay away from something I am to protect. It does not work well that way.”

Nanashi stomped her foot and screamed out before she faded from sight. She hated losing. He knew she could do nothing to back her words up.

When he got no response he entered the room, amazed at what he saw. Just like the hallway earlier it was like taking a step into space. Everything flowed together, the walls, furniture, and even the bed. Above her bed was an exploding star and from it sheer silver material fell over the bed, fading to black as it neared the floor. His eyes fell on the glass door to the balcony and decided that was where she had to be. The computer wouldn’t have reacted the way it did if she wasn’t here somewhere.

His breath hitched in his throat at the sight he was greeted with when he opened the door and stepped out onto the balcony. Her ebony hair, streaked with moonlight, fell over her shoulder over two shimmering white feathered wings.

Feeling his presence she tuned to him and smiled. He would have ended up finding out everything else eventually. It was a shame they had made the deal, then maybe she could tell him a little more about it.

Stretching her wings out a little before she seemingly shrugged them off she turned around to go back inside. She couldn’t really say anything to him anyway, so what was the point of standing there. Plus she knew it would bother him.

Sesshoumaru growled as she chose to ignore him and walk inside, taunting him with the presence of her wings and then shrugging them off like they were nothing. He had to keep reminding himself that it was part of the deal, that she was probably making it worse because he even agreed to it. The thought, however, did not help much as he could feel the red seeping into his eyes. With the combination of his anger and her teasing it was definitely going to be hard to maintain control.

Kagome giggled and sat down at her vanity, brushing through her hair. She was lucky Miroku started things early, it gave her an excuse to turn in early. She really hadn’t thought about going to bed, but it was the only thing she could do to actually ignore him.

Watching her continue on as if he weren’t even there angered him even more. No one ignored him. Slowly he made his way to her side, fighting the urge to show her who the alpha was. “There is no need for our deal any longer. Tell me what that display was all about.”

She only laughed and began to hum a song as she continued on her hair. Like she was going to give in that easily.

He growled at her defiance. He was positive now that she was doing it just to spite him. Anger as well as desire coursed through his body making his next words sound harsh. “You will not ignore me.”

His voice sent shivers down her spine, but she would never admit to it so she flashed him a smile and gave him a little taste of her power. Really, it was so much fun messing with him.

His last remaining grip of control went out the window as she defied him yet again. Grabbing her by the waist and throwing her down on the bed he pinned her beneath his form. She was going to submit, this was driving him insane.

She gulped as his body was pressed into hers to keep her down. She knew he wanted her to submit, Inuyasha used to do this all the time, but she would be dammed if he thought she’d go easy. Although she wouldn’t hurt him unless he warranted it.

She glared at him defiantly never making a sound before diverting her attention to a picture on the wall. Ignoring him seemed to piss him off pretty well.

It was as if she knew what buttons of his to press and was pressing them all at once. He grabbed her face to make her look at him and she started to squirm beneath him. He almost groaned. She had no idea what she was doing. If he hadn’t lost control of his temper he wouldn’t be in this situation right now. “Stop moving before something you don’t want happens.” He growled out.

Her entire body flushed as his words attracted her attention to his arousal pressed up against her thigh. His breath glided across her neck as he lowered his head making it suddenly hard to breathe. Never, in all her life, had her body ever felt like this. As much as she enjoyed these feelings he seemed to be evoking, they were foreign to her and that terrified her.

He picked up the scent of her fear and growled softly in her ear, trying to comfort her. He was not trying to hurt her and he wanted her to know that.

She shivered beneath him as the low rumble escaped from his lips and danced across her ear, setting her body on fire. She willed herself to gain control of her body but for some reason it wasn’t cooperating too well underneath his. This sent her into full blown panic mode. She was never one without control.

It was not the reaction he was looking for and he quickly rolled off her. He almost frowned when she immediately scampered to the other end of the bed. “I was not going to hurt you.” He snapped out frustrated and confused.

She blushed and quickly looked to the floor. “Don’t you go and inflate your ego because that’s NOT what I’m scared of.”

Enjoy? Let me know! I really didn’t want to write a lemon yet, but there will probably be one in the next chapter. Just to warn you, I’m not so great. It makes me blush to write that kind of stuff. The more reviews I get the quicker I’ll update! Plus, I could always use some advice.
