~~~Chapter 6: The Set~~~
“There, I’m finally finished!” Kimmi said as she spun Kagome around in the chair to face her with a look of satisfaction on her face. Her eyes narrowed as she looked at Kagome. “You’re not going to tell me who you were with this morning, are you?”
Kagome grinned as she hopped up out of the chair. “Nope!” she said cheerfully. “I know how rumors spread around this place, and I’d like to keep my life as mysterious as possible.” She walked out the door, waving goodbye to Kimmi. “Come watch the taping, I think you’ll enjoy this one.”
Kagome’s trailer, however unfortunate, was located directly beside Kouga’s, and as she bounded out of hers she ran smack dab into him. She seemed to have a knack of running into people lately. “My, my, my Kagome aren’t we lookin’ good today.” Kouga was grinning from ear to ear, looking her up and down.
Kagome scowled at him. She hated him with a passion. He was one of those guys that would cheat and lie just to get what he wanted. It didn’t matter that he was married to Kagura; he still slept with just about every girl he could get his hands on. And oh how he wanted Kagome. “Aren’t you supposed to be on the set?”
He just grinned, that creepy smile that said he was undressing you with his eyes. It made Kagome very uneasy. “I could say the same thing about you princess. I don’t come on until after your scenes with Sora. You know, you should be more like your character.” He tried to brush a strand of hair out of her face, just to touch her, but she dodged his touch. “There’s nothing wrong with a little innocent fun now and then.”
“This is a movie Kouga.” Kagome snapped, ready to leave. “You are married and should respect that instead of trying to get in every girl’s pants.”
Kouga scowled at the remembrance of his wife. “There is no need to bring her up.” His smile returned to his lips. “You know, ever since that Hojou character broke up with you, you’ve acted like nothing but an old hag. You should act your age, have a little fun.”
Kagome smiled as the memory of her and Inuyasha flashed through her brain. She spun around and headed to the set. “Oh I have my fun Kouga. Why do you think I’m so late today?”
“Wait! I’ll walk you to the set.” Kouga began to chase after Kagome.
“I think I can manage, why don’t you go fuck one of your girls. Or better yet, why don’t you study your lines so we can get through your scenes in less than a hundred takes.” Kagome looked at him hard, expecting to get a rise out of him, but got nothing but a lustful stare as she walked off.
As he watched her walk off thoughts of her raced through his mind. ‘I will have her, whether she wants me or not. She will be mine, I don’t care how long it takes.’
Kagome saw how Kouga always looked at her and knew better than to stay alone with him. It wasn’t the fact that she thought that he would hurt her, but he would do anything to bed her, and she knew it. The thought of him forcing himself on her gave her the shivers, but they were quickly diminished as she walked on the set and saw Inuyasha.
Shippou ran up to her waving his arms, trying to draw her attention, but it wasn’t working to well. She was fixated on Inuyasha. He was glad to see her interested in another guy again, but why did it have to be one that was engaged? He had to do something to stop it. She couldn’t get hurt again. “Kagome! Hurry up, Miroku is pissed.” He yelled as he ran up to her side.
She slowly walked up to the set smiling, seeing the crowds of girls surrounding the so-called engaged Inuyasha. She looked down at Shippou and smiled. “Miroku can wait, I’m never late.” She said smugly. She walked over to Miroku, who had a scowl on his face.
“Sango and Shippou told me why you were late Kagome.” He glanced over at Inuyasha. “I don’t approve of you getting messed up in these things. You are supposed to be above all that.”
She snorted and gave Sango an evil eye. “Like I need your approval for anything!”
“I was the one who made you famous you inconsiderate…” but Kagome cut him off before he could get any further.
“And I am grateful for that, as I have said many times. But you do not own me.” She sighed, and headed to her place. “Can we just get this over with? I’ve had a long morning.”
“Fine.” Miroku agreed. “Everyone! Places!” He hollered above the hustle a bustle of the set. He smiled as a hush fell over the entire set and everyone took his or her places.
The movie was one of those movies that you love to hate to watch. Kaori, Kagome, is a young princess that is engaged to Jet, Kouga. She does not like the arrangement that her parents set up, so she sneaks off into her city disguised as a commoner. Jet discovers her disappearance and attempts to find her. While in her stay in the city she observes all the poverty that surrounds them. As she is walking down an ally, several men jump out at her, and of course she is saved by Sora, Inuyasha. The two of them look at each other and instantly fall for one another, but she never reveals her secret. They spend the day together, until finally Jet catches up with her and finds her in the arms of Sora. Outraged he fights Sora and takes Kaori away, sentencing Sora to jail to keep him away from her. Behind Jet’s back she goes to see Sora, and unfortunately Jet eventually gets rid of him. He isn’t killed, but exile is enough. Kaori turns bitter and refuses to marry, and when her father dies she becomes queen without a king, but the relentless Jet never gives up. Kaori becomes one of the strongest and most compassionate leaders that her country had ever seen, trying to help the poor and helpless whenever she could. Of course this ticked off a bunch of nobles and there is an assassin sent after Kaori, Sora. Needless to say Sora does not kill her, but warns her of the treachery inside the walls of her home. In the mess Sora is killed by Jet, and Kaori’s heart broken as she found his dying body. Eventually Kaori gives in to companionship, but for her own reasons. Just as Jet thought he achieved his goal, she attacks him. She reveals that she knows it was him that killed Sora, and she will extract her revenge. They fight and she kills Jet with Sora’s sword that he gave her. The final scene of the movie is her mingling with the mass crowds of the city below her castle, handing out food and cheers coming from all around.
Inuyasha was amazed at Kagome’s performance. She never missed a beat, never missed a line. And if they had to redo the scene, it was because someone else had messed up. As his entrance came up he began to get nervous, his throat tightening up, making it hard for him to breath. Then she looked his way, making eye contact, and causing his heart to skip a beat.
Miroku couldn’t believe his eyes as he watched the two perform in front of him. He couldn’t tell if the chemistry was real, or if it was all just an act, but he had chose the perfect guy for the part. He noticed that it just wasn’t him that was entranced by the performance of the two, but everyone who was watching. ‘Kouga is not going to like this. This Inuyasha character attracts a lot more attention than I thought he would.’
As he this thought ran through his head he chuckled. ‘Good thing I kept those two away from each other until today.’
The scenes went by quickly until Kouga showed up. As soon as he took one look at Inuyasha he stormed up to Miroku. “Who the hell is that!” He asked pointing to Inuyasha.
Miroku rolled his eyes to Sango and then smiled to face Kouga. “That’s the guy who has been playing Sora, Inuyasha. Why is there a problem?”
Kouga’s whole face turned red. ‘What were they thinking hiring a man that could actually compare in looks to me?’ “Yeah, I don’t like him! Get rid of him.”
Miroku spoke calmly, diminishing his smile so Kouga could not see his pleasure in what he was about to say. “I am sorry that you feel that way. But he is already in too many scenes for me just to change that part. It would cost me too much money to replace him now. You will just have to deal with it.”
Kouga was infuriated. Not only could he not get rid of him, but also all of Kouga’s girls surrounded Inuyasha as soon as Miroku yelled cut to finish off the scene. He rushed over, grabbing him by his shirt collar, taking him off guard. “If you know what is good for you, fucking quit, or I’ll make your life a living hell.” He threatened inches away from his face.
Inuyasha just smiled and released Kouga’s grip from his shirt, backing off a bit. “Well, considering my life already is a living hell, I think I’ll stay and take my chances.” He was in no way shape or form intimidated by Kouga, and if the dumb bastard knew any better, he wouldn’t make good on his word. Inuyasha needed to blow off a little steam, but he was hoping it wouldn’t have to be on one of the top stars in Hollywood.
“You’ll regret your choice.” Kouga scowled as he walked off, taking a seat to watch the watch the next few scenes before his entrance. As he watched the scenes and the chemistry between the two unfold before his eyes his anger began to boil even more. Their screen chemistry was drawing more attention than his and Kagome’s. ‘Yes, he definitely has to go.’
