Modern Love

Kagome held out two boxes. Sesshoumaru cocked an eyebrow, but didn’t speak. InuYasha glared at her. She rolled her eyes.

“Look, I know about this. Just take the test.”

Sesshoumaru yanked the boxes from her hands then stalked into the bathroom. A few moments later could be heard yelling.

“HOW IN THE FUCK DO I USE THIS DAMN THING”

Kagome winced, but InuYasha moved to assist Sesshoumaru. They could be heard talking quietly. Kagome turned her attention to a small black and white kitten sleeping on the floor. A few moments later, InuYasha came out, his features laced with worry.

Inside the bathroom, Sesshoumaru stared at the two tests. He was secretly hoping that these tests would be negative. The last time he took one, it was better than twenty years ago, and the results were not to his liking. This time though, they both took tests. A beeping sound came from the clock on the vanity and he chanced a look down.

“INUYASHA WHAT DOES TWO LINES MEAN?”


InuYasha rolled his eyes at Kagome. He walked into the bathroom and slammed the door. Sesshoumaru was holding one of the tests in a shaking hand. The other test lay on the counter. Two lines. Sesshoumaru handed the test in his hand to InuYasha. Two lines.

“Both of us...”

“Yeah, both of us. How in the hell..?”

“We both have sex. But I am careful. I don’t let you touch me when I’m in heat.” Sesshoumaru gripped the sides of the vanity. “I know how and when you got pregnant. It had to be three months ago, the same time for me.”

“You are the bitchy one. No offence.” InuYasha placed his hand on his belly. He placed his other hand on Sesshoumaru’s. “You have more than one pup.”

“Again? Kichiro and Kitarra are twins. How could I have them again?” Sesshoumaru shook his head. “Why can’t you have them once? Just once, so you know the hell I went through having three babies and two terrors hanging around.”

“You were the one who wanted to stay home. This time there is always Barney to entertain them.”

“NO child of mine will watch that purple eyesore. We better make our plans now. It would be an awkward to see a pregnant man. You are half lucky, you just will look like you suddenly got fat, me I look like some overly bloated bitch.”

“You are a bloated bitch when you are pregnant. And Kagome knows about us, remember when we had the girls years ago, she was there when you gave birth.”

Kagome knocked softly on the door. She cautiously opened it. InuYasha smiled softly at her. Sesshoumaru knocked InuYasha’s hand that still rested on his stomach away.

“Both positive?” Kagome asked. “I suspected it.”

“How?” Sesshoumaru was quickly trying to hide his inner turmoil. “Were you listening?”

Kagome shook her head.

“InuYasha has a small purple mark on his left shoulder when he is. I remember that from the time I went through the well and saw you two. I saw the mark last night. Your marks on your hips turn redder.”

Both men had nothing to say to her. InuYasha whipped off his shirt and looked at his shoulder, Sesshoumaru was inspecting th marks on his hips.

“There is nothing there, Kagome.”

“She’s a miko, stupid.” Sesshoumaru smacked InuYasha at the back of his head. “She sees things even powerful demons cannot. She could probably even sense them too.”

“Things or the babies?” Kagome asked.

“Both.” Sesshoumaru smiled. “So?”

“I’m not telling! I have felt the babies, but I’m not telling.”

“So you are not telling if they are okay, or what gender.”

“They are fine, and NO!”

Kagome turned and left the two speechless in the bathroom. Now they knew she knew what they were going to have. She wasn’t going to tell.”

“Kagome, please.”

“You will find out in a few months when I give you two a baby shower. Don’t worry. I did the same for Kouga, Remember? I handled his baby shower as if he was about to adopt a baby girl. So just don’t worry.”

Kouga’s baby shower went very well. He was pleased that she never told anyone he was pregnant, and he’d been at all of their births. Ayame was shocked when he’d somehow found himself in that predicament, but later helped him raise the baby. She helped with each of InuYasha and Sesshoumaru’s deliveries. They had a large house out in the country and a huge tub built for delivering babies.

Sesshoumaru could determine the gender of InuYasha’s babies, but not his own. The last time InuYasha had a child, it had been a girl, so this time, simple deduction may have told him to expect a boy. However, he could tell InuYasha was going to disappoint that.

** Two Weeks Later **

InuYasha stood at the Nurse’s desk listening to a day shift nurse speak of a new patient on the ward. The patient was a young girl around four years of age. Her mother had been vacationing with her and was killed in an auto accident. The family in the States wanted nothing to do with the child, and she had no where to go after she got better.

InuYasha half listened until clipboard was thrust into his hand. He had a list of patients to check on, and just added it to his stack. He started his rounds checking on his patients, listening to the day nurse tell him about their day. When he came to the last room, there was a young girl laying on the bed. Her small face was framed with silky, blonde hair. Her blue eyes opened and she looked up at him.

“Krista, this InuYasha. He’s going to be your nurse tonight.” The child’s blue eyes widened slightly and she smiled.

“InuYasha? That’s a funny name.”

“Krista’s four years old. She has a broken leg, broken arm, and a concussion. She is alert, and seemingly happy.”

“My mommy died and my grammy hates me.”

She sure had a grasp on things for a four year old. InuYasha reached down and gently touched her on the forehead. His heart nearly broke to see her, tears hidden behind thick lashes.

“I’m sorry about your mommy, but I don’t hate you.” He longed to pick her up from the bed and hold her. He had an idea.

He’d see what her restrictions were, then call Sesshoumaru to come and spend time with her. He was lost in thought when the day nurse tapped him on the arm.

“We are not for sure, but her family seems to have signed away their rights to her. Her father is unknown, her mother’s family hates her. We don’t know why. She seems to be such a sweet child.”

“Do you think someone here will adopt her, or upon her recovery she’ll be shipped back to the States to an orphanage?”

“Surely some family here would take her. We do have people who would adopt. Why, would you?”

“Without a doubt.”


A/N: Sorry for the long time between updates.... But now we have some new things coming up... Sesshoumaru pregnant with twins, InuYasha pregnant, and will they adopt Krista?
