I wish
"Our wishes? You mean we both get a wish?" Kagome asked a little confused.
"I have seen the trouble you two have gone through to keep my jewel out of the hands of evil. In my eyes that gives you both the right for a wish" she said with a gentle smile.
Inu yasha looked to Kagome as she handed him the jewel.
"You first" she said as she closed his hand around the jewel they had worked so hard and suffered so much to get. To think that something as simple as a jewel that’d fit in the palm of his hand had caused so many so much pain. So many people and demons alike had killed and been killed all for a single shard of the jewel he now held in his hand.
The sacrifices that had been made in order for him to have the opportunity before him. His friends life’s gone because of this small gem he held.
This jewel had caused so many people pain. Sango lost her whole village, Shippo and Chibi lost their parents, and all of them lost their lives. Inu yasha new in the back of his mind that Shippo had most likely bleed to death by now. He had the chance fix all of that .
He could still save them all. If he could word this just right he could fix everything.
"Midoriko I wish that ..........that......" He was a little nervous, one wrong word would ruine everything.
" .......that everyone who lost their lives as a result of Naraku seeking the jewel shards to be revived" he let out his breath. Midoriko nodded and the jewel of four souls glowed a bright purple as Inu yasha was engulfed by the light. When the light dimmed Inu yasha was gone but the jewel remained. Kagome picked up the jewel and looked to Midoriko for an explanation.
"He has joined your friends in the world of the living, his wish was granted. Now young priestess what is it that you desire?" she said with a smile.
Kagome hadn’t expected for Inu yasha to make that wish. She herself had intended to use her wish to bring back their friends. He had given up his chance at becoming a full fledged demon for the lives of his friends.
Now it was she who had the opportunity to have everything she ever wanted. But what to wish for? She had the heart of the one she loved and they would live happily together until the day that they ............died. Reality hit Kagome hard when she realized the effects of her and Inu yasha's different races. He was a hanyou and she was human, none of this had mattered until now.
He would out live her by hundreds maybe even thousands of years. Sure they would grow old together, well she would grow old and he would stay young. But when she died he would be alone again, and she didn’t want him to be alone again not now not ever. That would be her wish.
"I wish that no matter what, Inu yasha never has to be alone again." she said.
"Is that what you truly desire?" she asked. Kagome nodded. This was one thing she was definitely sure of. Midoriko smiled and nodded to her.
"It shall be done" was the last thing Kagome heard before she to was engulfed by the Heavenly light. She could feel herself spinning round and round in the glorious light.
All the happy memories of her life were flashing before her. Memories of her family and friends, but mostly of Inu yasha. She could clearly see the first time she saw him, when he was still bound to the tree. The first time she saw his human side, when he told her she smelled nice.
Then she saw them sitting together watching the sun rise. And last she saw his smiling face as his voice spoke the words 'I love you' to her for the first time. The colors faded as she blacked out.
