A Goddess from the Past

Chapter 6

Sesshomaru made his way down to the dungeons while the doctors were tending to Kagome.

'Let me go you fools! I'll never tell how to cure that bitch. She deserves to die!...' Madoka stopped as she saw Sesshomaru. 'Sesshomaru... you bastard... How could you do this to me? It was ME who was supposed to be your mate, not some random demon whore!'.

Sesshomaru slashed her face with his claws. Madoka winced in pain, 'You are going to tell me the answer whether you like it or not' he said, venom dripping from every word. 'Guards, continue to torture her, and show her no mercy.' With that, Sesshomaru headed back up to the palace.

'If you really want the cure, I'll give it to you on one condition...' Madoka called out. She knew that he could still hear her. 'I'll tell you... if you mate with me!'. 'Hmph... Who the hell does she think she is, giving me conditions at this time'. Sesshomaru ignored the whimpers of pains and hurried back to Kagome.


'Ah... Lord Sesshomaru... About Lady Kagome's condition...'. Sesshomaru waited for the old man to continue, but when he didn't, he snarled, 'Well?'.

'Oh... Right. Whoever poisoned Lady Kagome, also placed a curse on her. The poison itself is not deadly, but the curse will be. As long as you bear the mark she gave you, she will continue to bleed through her skin. Even if the mark disappears, Lady Kagome's health will deteriorate, unless you two both find different mates'.

'So, what you're saying is that, as long as we're mated, she will continue to bleed until death, and if we're not mated to each other, we have to be mated to someone else'. The grey whiskered man nodded solemnly.

‘What if we mated again after I have removed the mark once?’.

‘Unfortunately, that is the problem with a curse, it will remain until someone undoes it, or until the victim passes away from it.’ Sesshomaru clenched his fists as he desperately tried to think of another way to cure her. Another doctor walked up to the old man, and whispered into his ear. The old man sighed, not knowing how to say it. ‘What?’ Sesshomaru demanded.

‘Lord Sesshomaru… You… must decide soon what to do, because her bleeding has increased, and she will not last more than a few hours.’ Sesshomaru growled furiously, ‘Well, don’t just stand there; start treating her! I didn’t bring you here to tell me my mate was dying.’

He sank back into his chair, not knowing what to do.

=In Kagome’s dream=

Kagome looked around her, and realized that she was in Lord Sesshomaru’s Castle. She could hear sounds from the room next to her, so she walked over, and slid the door open.

There was a dark-haired demoness who was giving birth. Next to her, sat a regal demon who was holding her hand and whispering words of comfort into her ear. Suddenly, a pinkish glow caught her eye. It was close to the demoness, and Kagome recognized it as being the Shikon Jewel.

Her eyes widened as she realized who the demoness was. 'Is that... me? Is that what the future will be like?'. 'No, it's what you WANT the future to be like.' Kagome quickly turned her head, and saw Madoka standing next to her.

'How much do you really know about Sesshomaru-sama? You mated him, without knowing anything about him. Do you really think that you can build a relationship based on lust?'.

Kagome clenched her fists, realizing that Madoka was right, but she had thought of that herself. 'As long as we're together, we'll be able to learn about each other, and work together.'

'And so you're going to hope that in the end, you'll live happily ever after. Right? Well, if that idea ever crossed your mind, let me tell you something. That only happens in fairy tales. Don't you think everything has been to perfect up until now? At some point, your world is going to come crashing down. Let me tell you something though, you're lucky I'm here to tell you that your dream for a perfect future ends now. If you don't leave Sesshomaru, you will die from it. Right now, you are lying on a bed, bleeding profusely. By the time you wake up from this dream, no, IF you wake up from this dream, Sesshomaru will not be your mate anymore'.

'What... What do you mean?'. 'In simple words, you're under a curse, and as long as you and Sesshomaru are mates, you will continue to bleed until you die. Even if you two aren't mated to each other, your body will continue to deteriorate unless you both find different mates. For now, I will let you live the perfect dream you wanted, and leave you these words of wisdom. No pain, no gain'. Madoka the disappeared, leaving Kagome standing there, lost in her dream.

=Back to Reality=

‘Old man… I have decided to remove the mark. If you say that it will cure Kagome, then you may proceed to it’.

~In the Eastern Lands~

Takumi grinned. While the demoness was making love to the Western Lords, he had managed to move the demons to the Northern and Southern lands. Suddenly, his heart throbbed, causing him to bend down and clutch his chest. Kagome's blood was in the air, and his heart ached because of that.

'Why is this happening? Kikyo's dead, and that demoness is... no, WAS only her reincarnation. Now she is nothing like Kikyo, so how can this weak human's heart still want her?'. Takumi growled in frustration. Problems just kept arising, one after another. 'Wait... What IF I had Kagome here? What if I made her my mate? Now that the demons are gone, wouldn't that only work to my advantage? She would be closer, making it easier for me to kill her, and get the Shikon Jewel'...


~Back in the Western Lands~

Sesshomaru held Kagome's hand as he waited for her to wake up. He didn't know how Kagome would react to the news.

'Uggh... I feel so dizzy.' Sesshomaru looked up at Kagome as she slowly opened her eyes. Immediately, she burst into tears, and pulled herself up to Sesshomaru, hugging him as tightly as she could. 'We're... not mates anymore... are we? And we never will be...'.

Sesshomaru hugged her back, and stroked her hair. He didn't know what to say. His heart ached, and he felt as though his soul was being torn into bits. He remembered when he had first began to long for her, how he didn't know why he felt that way, but now he did. It was because he loved her. 'Kagome... I... love you. And I will for all eternity.'

'Sesshomaru, I love you too, but if the gods have something else planned for us, then we must go on accordingly. So please, forget about me. Forget about your love for me. Neither of us should suffer anymore, and we need to move on.'

'NO!! I refuse to forget about you! I will remain with you until the end of time. I will find a way to fix this, Kagome...'.

'Sesshomaru... Please forgive me...'. Kagome tore away from Sesshomaru and disappeared off of the balcony.
