A plan to forge ahead...

Inuyasha stared at her, “Excuse me…? You tried to kill Kagome!” his eyes narrowed into an intent glare. Tikovru sighed at his impudence, “If I had truly meant to kill her she would be headless.” She reasoned, returning the glare ten-fold. The Inu Honyou before her growled at the demoness’s teasing tone, and his fingers drummed against Tetsaiga’s hilt in meaning.

“Unless you want to lose the Miko you will listen to what I have to say.” She snapped, her violet eyes reflecting anger, “I have no desire to help Naraku anymore.” She finished, apparently gaining control of her own emotions and anger. “Allow me to explain, and everything will fall into place.” Her lips were stretched into a thin line. ‘My ’Husband’ will be very angry now…’ she thought spitefully, her lips curling into a wicked grin.

Kagome looked the Demoness over. “Inuyasha, let’s at least listen to her…” her hand moved from under his and she rubbed his shoulder gently, “I don’t think she has any intention of hurting us now.” Kagome grinned sheepishly at the demoness who had injured her so badly.

Inuyasha suddenly looked as though he had swallowed something sour; his nose crinkled, and he looked as though he was struggling to find his voice again, “Fine, but if she goes anywhere near you, I’ll kill her.” He was addressing Kagome, already angry enough with Tikovru as it was.

Soon, they were sitting around the camp fire, Sango, Miroku, and Shippo all huddled around one side of the fire next to Inuyasha and Kagome. Tikovru sat across from them, her purple eyes staring intently at the orange flames. There was silence. Not even the bugs that inhabited the surrounding trees were willing to break the thick soundlessness in the air.

“Naraku wants your Miko as his own.” The foreign female demon started, her eyes flickering from the fire to the people across from her, “He wants her as well as the jewel and Kikyo’s soul.” She finished at the perplexed expressions the others wore. “I can not allow him to have to.” Her eyes narrowed into a glare as she stared at the fire again.

“What significance is it to you…?” Miroku spoke up, his brown eyes challenging the Demoness’s purple ones. “I am his wife, Tikovru, at your service.” It sounded as though she thought it was obvious. Miroku nodded, “So, you’re mad because he’s not loyal…?” he seemed to be the only one who was able to find his voice. Everyone else had their jaws hanging open, staring at the odd woman in awe. “You have no idea…” she muttered into the ground.

“N-Naraku has a wife!?!” Inuyasha yelled, his eyes just about popping from their sockets. Tikovru nodded. “He summoned me to wed him. It appears he grew lonely.” She scowled, her face contorting into a frown. “And know I wish to leave him. So I will help you.” She proposed, pulling her knee to her chest and leaning her head on it.

“So Naraku wants me…?” Kagome asked after pulling herself together. “But I will keep him from you. Out of spite.” She was at least by honest. “So, Tikovru, what can you tell us now?” Sango asked, her brown eyes flickering over the form of the Demoness, as if determining how hard she would be to battle.

“Do not head into the Mountains.” She stated simply, answering the Demon Slayers question immediately, “He has an Army of Demons, and well and Kagura and Kanna, waiting there. In the confusion of the battle he will take away Kagome and the jewel. Unless you want that you will heed my words.” Her eyes had become darkly serious as she stared out over the dark mountains.

Inuyasha had visibly stiffened at the thought of Kagome being taken away and he wrapped an arm over her shoulder protectively, ‘I will never let Naraku have her…’ he silently vowed, deciding it would be best to listen to the evil Honyou’s wife. “Shouldn’t you go back to Naraku?” he asked, for once addressing Tikovru without attempting to take her head. “After all, if you’re gone too long he will get suspicious.” For once, he was using his head.

Tikovru sighed. “I really don’t want to go back… Besides, he probably won’t even notice I’m gone.” She crunched her nose up and pulled up the other knee to join its twin, resting her chin on them both. She seemed rather depressed, a strange emotion for a demon. “If you want to go ahead and fight the demons I will stay behind and care for the Miko. Naraku will not come near her.” She suggested, looking directly at Inuyasha. It was his decision.

Inuyasha glared at him, “How can I trust you…?” he asked, eyeing her suspiciously. “I’m here, and so are you. I have to intent of harming… Errr… What’s your name…?” she asked Kagome, her eyes flickering to the young Priestess. “Kagome.” She stated simply, sensing no danger from the demoness. “Ah, Kagome.” Tikovru finished her own sentence, her eyes switching back to the Honyou before her.

Inuyasha shifted uncomfortably. He knew she was right; if she wanted to kill them she would have done so already. Plus, she had a perfectly good reason for hating Naraku. ’Never instigate the wrath of a woman. She can become more dangerous than any Demon of the land.’ A quote from his mother suddenly floated into his mind and he snickered.

“Kagome…? Do you trust her?” he asked, losing eye contact with the demon in favor of looking into Kagome’s brown ones. The young Miko grinned up at him, “Yes. I think she will become a valued ally.” Her returned stare never wavered. Inuyasha’s eyebrows furrowed in thought before he looked up, “Fine. But if you so much as one claw on her…” he cracked his knuckles and Tikovru rolled her eyes. “I don’t want to hurt her. She’s a part of my plan to get revenge on Naraku…” she added with a nodd.

“Fine then. We will leave in the morning…” Inuyasha announced, pulling Kagome into his lap and leaning against a fallen log. Sango and Miroku quickly went to their sleeping bags, glad for rest. Tikovru didn’t move from her spot, even as the flames flickered and died. She would get back at Naraku. That thought alone would keep her moving no matter what…

Yay! I got this chapter up! And guess what else...? I have spell check on this computer! Of course, on my other one I don't, but that's besides the point... Sorry It took me so long to update before. I went through a sudden bout of uncreativeness and a writers block. Everything I did was suddenly put on hold, but now I'm back! ^^
