Between Best Friends

Chapter Five

Kagome was standing in her room packing up some clothes while her mother helped her. Botan had returned with her bringing the boy name Yusuke with them. Koenma had instructed them to take her to some woman named Genki's place. They would stay there and make sure she was safe until Sesshomaru found something. She knew that against most demons she could defend herself but when she looked at Yusuke and thought of Hiei and Kurama she knew better. Her mother didn't like her leaving but knew it was for the best. Her staying would put Souta in danger. The little shit irked her to no end but she loved him. Botan chatted away trying to ease her mothers worry. Kagome packed the basic needs such as clothes and her personal belongings. In the end she had two suitcases to take with her. Yusuke grabbed both without any trouble taking them outside as they waited for her to say farewell to her family.

Her mother hugged her and told her to call. "You be careful dear." Souta hugged his sister but didn't say anything. Her grandfather on the other hand had something to say.

"Here are some sutras I made for you Kagome. Be sure to place them in your bedroom since you will be surrounding by male demons. Don't need any of them sneaking in your room trying to impregnate you."

"What! I can't believe you just said that. I have some morals you know." 'Wait didn't earlier this same night I let a demon kiss me.' Kagome sighed and stuffed the sutras in her pockets to appease him. "Fine thanks grandpa." She walked out the door to join Botan and Yusuke.

They decided to talk since they had her belongings. Yusuke asked her if she was up to the trip since it was a good ways. At her nod they started out. They walked down the barely lit streets toward Genki's. Kagome took the time to think. Seeing Sesshomaru had brought back memories. She missed all her friends from the fuedal era especially Sango at the moment. What she wouldn't give to have a girl to talk to. A certain red eyed demon entered her mind. She had enjoyed the brief time together earlier and knew she'd want to spend more with him. On the outside he seemed rude and harsh but she'd seen a glimpse of what was beneath. The kiss had been something she'd never expected. It had been short but life changing. For the first time in her life her body had felt alive. Passion was the word she was looking for. Inuyasha's kiss had been sweet and pleasant but her body hadn't reacted the same way.

After walking for an hour they turned off the road to climb up a hill, she had always wondered about the building sitting all by itself surrounded by the forest. Now she knew what it was, a temple of some sort. They soon came to some steps and made their way up. As they entered the yard several people made their way out to greet them. One was the young girl named Yukina, the loud mouthed man Kuwabara, and a very small elderly woman, she assumed was Genki.

Genki walked up to greet the miko they would be protecting and studied her. The girl contained immense spiritual powers but they were holy. She liked the girl on the spot, she had a good heart obviously. "Welcome."

"Where the hell is Hiei and the others?" Yusuke asked.

A small tornado entered the yard causing Kagome's hair to whip her in the face. When the wind stopped she looked to see the four men standing a few feet away from them. In the front stood a young man with short red hair, wow the abs, and a small horn on his forehead. The next guy had short blue hair with green bangs and next to him was Hiei and Kurama. She smiled at them, 'More demons great. Maybe I should place those sutras up after all not that they'd actually work.'

"Now shes a pretty one thats for sure." The demon with the red hair spoke revealing a strong accent. He grinned when she blushed. "I can understand the need to be protecting."

Touya laughed when the girl blushed at his friend's comment. Jin tended to be outspoken at times. Genki led the girl inside ordering Yusuke to follow with her bags.

Kagome was glad to get inside away from all the males. She was shown to a room that had a single bed placed in the corner. It wasn't much but it would do for now. Yusuke set her bags down in the corner and excused himself.

"I'm sure you are tired. Don't worry they are a rowdy bunch but they will protect you with their lives." She excused herself letting the girl settle herself in.

Kagome sat on the edge of the bed taking off her shoes. She felt the hair on her neck stand up and turned to find Hiei standing in the corner.
