Another Author Note, More of a Plea for HELP!
Some Help please!
I’m writing another chapter with Kouga in it and I need Japanese names for some of my characters. I hate reading an Inu Yasha fic written by an author with American names in it. I also see the same names over and over and want something not so…I guess prepackaged and overused.
Let me tell you a little about the characters and maybe you can help. I’m also going to search my room. I once found a website that would give you the Japanese version of any name you put into it. I don’t know where it is with my move and all but it’s worth a shot.
Council of Elders:
Elder One: A small, grey female wolf demon with cinnamon eyes. She is sharp on the uptake, and like Yoda; do not judge her by her size. She could tear you up one side and down the other if need be. She plays the political game well, playing it close to vest, and will tolerate nonsense only as long as it amuses her.
Elder Two: A grey male, brother to Elder One. He is wise but not as sensible as his sibling. He doesn’t see the point in beating around the bush. He is legendary for wielding his tongue as bluntly as a club and loving him some liquor. ;) He frequently jokes that he accepted the council position only for its superior wine stock.
Elder Three: A salt and pepper colored male wolf that is very traditional. He delights in the elaborate waltz of words and ritual involved in interacting with high level demons. Kouga’s blunt manner is a source of constant disappointment. While he has nothing against Kouga, he would prefer a touch more decorum in a leader. Often seen as a bit stuffy and old fashioned despite being one of the youngest on the council. Think Giles from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Elder Four: A spirited female with white fur, she is the oldest. She has a mischievous streak a mile wide and was once rumored to have an “understanding” with Kouga’s grandfather after both lost their mates in battles past. One of her favorite pastimes is to let her mind ‘wander’ and ‘forget’ that Kouga ISN’T his grandfather! Think sassy, spunky Granny type who would give you sage advice and wind it up with “And remember; you don’t need him! If God didn’t want us to touch ourselves, he never would’ve made our arms long enough to reach!”
Elder Five: A white furred male. Half of the time his fellow council members don’t know if he is sleeping or not. He talks a lot about seemingly random things and his sanity is every so often called into question. If one looks beyond the surface however, one would find the old coot knows far more than he’ll ever let on. Even his fellow council members would be surprised at the depth of his knowledge.
Elder Six: Grey male wolf. He rarely says anything but when he does you PAY ATTENTION! A hermit before joining the pack, he values his words and doesn’t waste them. He is unused to being around other people and sometimes displays a lack in his skills dealing with them. Much speculation about why a social creature like a wolf would be a hermit but no one knows for sure and no one who asks ever gets more than a blank, world weary stare. *Hint the size of Texas: he and Kagome have much in common!*
Elder Seven: A grey female who lost one of her sons under the reign of the previous Alpha. She is determined not to ever let the Pack be in such a position again. She has her own ideas about what the pack should and should not be. She is not receptive of a human pack member, seeing it as another way down a dark path. She is a formidable ally or opponent and she will stop at nothing, NOTHING! to protect her Pack, even from itself.
Well, there you are. Sorry about the spoilers, but I am getting frustrated with writing this chapter and going: Elder 1 interrupted Elder 5… you get the idea. I really appreciate the feedback everyone’s been giving me. It makes my day to find out I have a new review waiting for me. I’ve received some contradictory reviews here and at fanfiction.net but the one thing everyone agrees on is more Kouga, more Kouga, and hey! More Kouga! He’s coming, I promise. Just as soon as these Elders get names. Full Credits for suggestions, as well as a box of naked Kougas. Well, maybe not the naked Kougas. I do enjoy them so. :)
