Chapter 5
Kagome fell asleep in her hanyou’s arms. The minute she drifted into a deep sleep, the nightmares began.
“You are mine, I claimed you.” Kouga’s voice ran through her head.
“No your not here, your dead!” Kagome said in her dream. She started kicking and screaming. Inuyasha stopped running to trying to calm her down, but received some punching and kicking in the process. “Kagome wake up!” Inuyasha said startled by the sudden attack.
When she came around, she started sobbing even more; she could not escape the mental images of Kouga. “Put me down, Put me down now!” Kagome said
“No!” He retorted.
“So help you I will sit you till next week if you don’t put me down right now!” She snarled back at him.
He was definitely afraid of those dreaded words sit. When he came to know her 4 years ago he tried to kill her over the sacred jewel. Kaede had conjured up a subduing spell that formed a necklace around his neck. He really did not want to go face first into the ground again. Therefore, he abided and put her down. Kilala landed next to Inuyasha, and everyone dismounted off the fierce cat.
Kagome paced back and forth in the forest, fists closed and she was mumbling something under her breath. With so much pent up with anger she started glowing a bright pink. She wanted to hit something, anything. Hell, she almost wished a wary demon would come across her path just so she could purify it.
Miroku put his hand over Inuyasha’s shoulder. “ You should not go near her until she calms down or you will be purified.” Inuyasha grunted in agreement. He knew what would happen if she did touch him, he would go back to his human form and would not be much good for protecting the group.
Kagome fell onto her knees grabbing her shoulder with excruciating pain. Everyone ran up to her to see if she was ok. “It hurts.” She whimpered tears were now falling from her beautiful eyes.
“What hurts?” Inuyasha said.
“My shoulder.” Kagome whimpered, not wanting to move her hand away.
Inuyasha carefully took his claw and cut her sweatshirt from the collar to the sleeve, only to reveal her red shoulder. Inuyasha turned his head away the wound became badly infected. He could smell it. The smell was like death its self was inside her. Puss was coming out of the wound and like a disease spreading around the area of the mark. He was gagging while backing away.
“Are you ok?” Miroku asked while putting his hand over his shoulder.
“I thought the mark would go away when I killed him Miroku.” Inuyasha said while looking up at the monk with a confused and worry glare. “When wolf demons claim their mate, they mate for life. Just like dog demons do, like me.” Inuyasha paused and continued. “When a mate dies the mark will sometimes go away or the other mate dies as well.” Inuyasha suddenly looked saddened and said, “She must have loved him because she is dying too.”
“No Inuyasha she loves you, she only loved Kouga as a friend.” Miroku said staring at the sad hanyou.
“Your right Miroku because if she loved him with all her heart, she would have died when I killed him, then what’s going on with her mark why didn’t it go away?” Inuyasha stated.
“ I don’t know I just hope Kaede has some more answers.” The monk said.
Sango approached Kagome when Inuyasha and Miroku walked away. She looked down at her crying friend and over to the wound she gasped. “This is not good!” Sango said franticly. She immediately felt her forehead she was running a very high fever. She had to bring the fever down somehow or she would never make it back to Kaede’s village. “INUYASHA!” Sango screamed. They ran back over to her. “ I need you too find water cold water!” Sango screamed. The boys looked puzzled onto why Sango was so upset. “NOW!” She said.
Inuyasha was gone before she could get any madder. He jumped up a near by tree to get a better lay of the land and to smell any nearby water. “Stay here I will be back.” Inuyasha grunted.
Miroku walked back over to Sango. “I know a herb we could put on the infection.” Miroku said.
Shippo was with the smaller two-tailed cat. Petting her, trying to figure what was going on. He knew what happened she smelled like Kouga and knew that she was changing but did not understand why. “Those questions will have to wait.” He said quietly to himself while Kilala meowed. The monk walked by only to find a sad and confused kit.
“Would you like to go with me Shippo?” Miroku said and continued, “I have to go find a flower called a Calendula.”
“What’s that?” Shippo said with a confusing look on his face.
“It’s a yellow or gold flower that will help Kagome’s infection.” Miroku said frustrated by all the questions. “Are you coming or not?”
Shippo nodded yes and decided to follow Miroku to a nearby patch of yellow and gold flowers. Miroku was glad that the patch of flowers was not far from Kagome and Sango. “What is the matter with Kagome?” Shippo said while helping pick the yellow and gold flowers. “Why do we need these flowers?” Shippo asked again only this time looking up at an aggravated monk.
Miroku sighed. “The flowers will make a paste to go over her bite mark on her shoulder to help with the healing.”
Inuyasha was running from tree to tree following his nose to lead him to a nearby lake. He jumped down and smelled the surrounding area. He started to growl. “Sesshoumaru!” Inuyasha grabbed the hilt of his sword, waiting for the attack of his brother.
A/N Calendula is closely related to the Marigold. Uses for this cheery yellow to orange flower are many and growing it in your garden is easy. Great for skin irritations and most skin conditions, varicose veins, wound healing, as an eye rinse, as a hair rinse to condition and lighten, as a powder for babies, in the bath to stimulate, cleanse and act as a diaphoretic
I hope you like the story so far and thank you for the reviews. About Kagome being pregnant, I don’t know.
