Healing Process

The next morning, Inuyasha woke first. The girl at his side was
still asleep, her body still molded to his, still holding on to
him for dear life. Inuyasha took a minute just to watch the girl
at his side sleep. She looked so beautiful...her jet black hair
was sprawled out around her, the girl's eyes were closed in sleep
and her breathing was even and calm. She looked so peaceful and
so at ease, he couldn't help but stare. Something about this girl
had attracted his attention. He decided he wouldn't mind waking up
like this every morning. It left Inuyasha wonder again how exactly
this girl had changed him and his way of thinking from the first
moment he saw her....what was it about this girl? Why was he so
obsessed with this girl?

As he was sitting there, watching the sleeping girl and deep in
thought, Kagome had begun to stir and slowly awoke. Inuyasha
watched as the girl woke.

Kagome's blue-grey eyes fluttered open and she tried to take in
her surroundings. She felt incredibly warm...suddenly, she
realized the source of the warmth was a person...now she
fought to focus on who it was, and she saw the man who had
taken her from Ryu, and she was pressed against his body. Her
eyes widened and her cheeks flushed red when she realized her
position. He felt her body tense up, and the girl started to
move as much as she could as quickly as she could to move away
from Inuyasha. Her eyes showed her fear, her body was trembling.
Inuyasha went to reach out to touch the girl next to him, to
just gently play with her hair, a small almost inaudible whimper
came from the girl as her body tensed again and she shut her eyes
tight, flinching. He was both saddened and angered at her reaction.
Saddened that the girl still feared him when there was no
reason to and saddened that the girl had been treated so
horribly that she would shrink from the simplest of touches.
He was angry at the person who had hurt the girl this way. He
got up off of the bed and said gently, "I'll go get Sango,
she'll bring in your breakfast." Kagome watched him leave,
she had not been expecting that reaction....had she seen...
pity ...sorrow...in those eyes? Why? For her? No one had
ever felt sorry for HER....why would this man?

A few minutes later, the girl she recognized as Sango
came in with a plate of food, and Kagome gave the smallest
of smiles to the girl. She felt comfortable around this
girl. Sango saw Kagome smile and smiled happily back. "You
seem to be feeling better this morning, Kagome-chan." Sango
said happily. Kagome gave a nod. Sango placed the tray of food
on a table next to her bed. "That's great...would you like
something to eat?" Sango asked kindly. Kagome was amazed...
at best, she was given one meal a day...if her master even
thought she deserved a meal....sometimes her master would
forget to feed her, or she'd have to find leftover food.
Kagome nodded, she was hungry. Sango helped her to sit
up, and she ate the food in record time, and Sango was
astonished. "I guess you were hungry." Sango said.
Noticing the embarassed look on Kagome's face, she laughed.
"It's all right, eat as much as you like."

Kaede came in later to check Kagome and was astonished at
how well she was doing. "Well, child, you're doing well.
I don't think you need me anymore." She bid goodbye to
Kagome and then left.

Sango spent the day with Kagome, befriending Kagome and
telling her tales from her village. Kagome listened with
interest, sometimes laughing when she told a funny story.
As Sango was telling a story and Kagome was
sitting up in bed listening to the tale, Inuyasha came
in. The door opened and Sango noticed Kagome's body tensed
and eyes widened as she watched the door open and Inuyasha
come in. Sango knew that Inuyasha would never hurt Kagome
but the reaction still bothered her. Sango noticed Kagome
backed up a little on the bed. "It's all right, Kagome-
chan...this is my friend Inuyasha." Kagome eyed him,
her small form shaking despite how she tried not to. "Kaede
says you're getting better." He said. The girl made no
response. "Yes, she is feeling better today." Sango said.
"Is there anything you want? Anything to eat? Anything to
drink?" Kagome shook her head quickly "N..no, Inuyasha-sama."
she said in a voice laced with fear. The voice came out
soft and quivering. Sango noticed as did Inuyasha. "Just
Inuyasha is fine." He answered gently. She was still scared.
Sango noticed and started the tale she was telling from the
point where she left off, but Kagome was still tense and her
eyes would dart to Inuyasha. Inuyasha left a few minutes later,
as he had obviously scared the girl. It took a while for Sango
to get Kagome relaxed again afterward.

Nighttime came, and Sango bid Kagome good night to go to bed.
Kagome started to fall asleep, and her night terrors started
again. Inuyasha again woke to the sound of the girls screams
and he went off to find Kagome terrified, thrashing in her
sleep. He climbed in the bed and the girl latched on to him,
and her nightmares ended and Inuyasha again fell asleep next
to the girl.

The next morning proved the same thing....waking up to a girl
who was terrified of him...she shook uncontrolably when she
saw him. What was it about men that scared her so much? He
didn't know.

Sango would stay with Kagome and she got better and Inuyasha
would stop to check on her progress every once in a while, and
she would be frightened. The girl slowly got better physically
although the night terrors continued.

Slowly the fear got less although still pretty bad.

Sango went off to dinner after Kagome had eaten her dinner.
Kagome's curiosity got the better of her and she got out
of bed, and walked to the door. The walked around the house
slowly taking in the sights. The house was huge, and Kagome
was amazed. "Oi.. Kagome?" she heard from behind her. She jumped
and turned, then saw Inuyasha. Her eyes widened and she
fell to the floor in a bow, forhead to the floor, a typical
servant's position. "I...I'm so sorry....master.." she
said frightened. He gently touched her back and she tensed up.
"It's all right..call me Inuyasha, remember? Would you like me
to show you my house?" he asked. KAgome, astonished, looked up
at him. "A..ano...hai...." she said quietly, uncertainly. He
nodded and motioned for her to follow him. She watched him and
uncertainly got to her feet to follow him.
