Camp that night was quiet. She had never considered just how uneasy these two could be around each other. She almost laughed as they attempted to one-up each other at almost every turn. Inu Yasha would run off to col woo wood for the fire and Sesshoumaru would have the fire started befor cou could return. When the demon lord had rejected Kagome's offer of food, since he did not require 'human' food, Inu Yasha would slurp it quickly grunting what a good cook Kagome was and asking for seconds. There was even a point when she heard Inu Yasha refer to his brother as “stumpy” which caused Sesshoumaru to dig his claws into his palm to stop himself from dismembering the hanyou. Kagome had been biting her lip the entire time, trying desperately not to laugh.
Now, however, they seemed mostly calm, neither one sitting very far away from her. She knew they didn't trust each other and had pretty much expected this kind of behavior from them. She sighed, 'At least THAT I understand.'
“Kagome, what makes you think its a spell?” Inu Yasha questioned after sitting quietly for a long period of time.
“Well..think about it...you...Sesshoumaru..the way you've been acting, it really doesn't make sense. It seemed to start with that funny smell yesterday morning. Actually, now that I think about it, both of you have been sniffing me a lot lately, “ She turned to Inu Yasha, “more then usual. Even Shippo said I smelled ...different..so maybe its a spell that only effects demons.”
Sesshoumaru added, “ A strong demon would not break so easily against such a spell...however Inu Yasha being part human may make him more vulnerable to such influences. I assure you Kagome my feelings for you are genuine.”
Inu Yasha barked, “YOU'RE the one under a spell here asshole! Kagome and I have history...you wanting her makes absolutley no sense...you don't even like humans!”
Sesshoumaru growled loudly at Inu Yasha's insinuations. “ I am not the beast who marked her body due to lack of self control.”
“Kagome and I were..lost in the moment.” Inu Yasha smirked as he watched his brother's bland expression tighten in disgust.
“You have no idea how to please a mate, you only use her to satisfy your urges.” Sesshoumaru stated bluntly.
Inu Yasha scowled and then turned to Kagome. “Tell him Kagome!”
Kagome raised her hands unwilling to enter the argument with her best fake smile plastered across her face. “I..I really don't have enough experience to --”
Sesshoumaru smiled at her, “Not yet.”
Inu Yasha growled.
“That's it! I'm goin to bed!” Kagome grabbed at the ket ket around her and stomped off. “We are so not having this discussion.” She curled up into a patch of grass she deemed as 'safe' and tried to get some sleep. 'Who would have thought.' she sighed as she finally drifted off to sleep.
