A sharp pain coursed through her chest as she slowly opened her eyes. Once she was fully coherent, Kagome stared down to her right side where Nicole was sleeping. ’She looks uncomfortable’ Kagome thought as she lightly pulled on one of Nicole’s red hairs.

Kagome smiled lightly as she continued to pull until the red head started to stir. Nicole jolted up quickly, swatting her arms into the air. Kagome laughed slightly as her shock stricken cousin locked eyes with her.

“Oh Kag! Thank god you’re up!” She said through tears of happiness. Suddenly, Nicole clutched onto Kagome, causing the girl to knock the wind out of Kagome. Kagome jerked back quickly, trying to muffle a scream of agony.

She grabbed her chest tightly. “Damn it, why does my chest hurt so bad?” Kagome said between uneven gasps. “Well, not only do you have a decent gash on your chest, you started to convulse again, which caused you to stop breathing, so you got CPR” Nicole said in a low voice.

Kagome felt a wave of shock hit her as she took in the information. “How did you get here?” She managed to finally say. “Your mom called, she told me you were in the hospital because of an overdose” Nicole then bowed her head down in shame.

After an uncomfortable pause she continued. “She said that if it wasn’t for that Inu guy, then you would have been dead” Nicole said while pointing at the left corner of the room, where Inuyasha was. Kagome stared in complete shock at the sleeping hanyou.

As she stared, she started to remember everything that had happened the night before. ‘Why?‘ Kagome’s mind rang. Kagome soon realized she was staring to long, and she took her gaze over to her cousin. Nicole didn’t even notice the longing gaze her cousin was giving the half daemon, since she was sobbing on Kagome’s bed.

Kagome gentle placed her hand on Nicole’s back. “I came her as soon as possible, Oh Kag! I’m so sorry, It’s all my fault” Nicole managed to say while crying uncontrollably. Kagome quickly sat up, despite the pain, and held on to her cousin in a small hug.

“Nikky you know that’s not true, I did it to myself…” She tried to get out, but was then cut short. “NO! I’m the one who have it to you, and if I never would have brought you to that party, then you wouldn’t have ended up here…God I‘m going to kill that bastard!”

Nicole yelled, cause the hanyou to stir a little. “Listen Nikky, did you shove the fucking pipe into my mouth? No, youw asw as well as I do, that things happen for a reason, and something like this had to happened to wake my ass up. I just hope your ass is waking up with me” Kagome said in a joking tone, in an attempt to lighten the mood.

Fortunately, she succeeded, and Nicole smiled at her gratefully. “No worries on that hun” Nicole laughed lightly. They soon got into a long conversation about all the things they had did when they were kids. There conversation was cut off as Kagome’s door opened.

They both jerked there heads quickly towards the door to Mr. Higurashi. Kagome’s heart sank into her stomach as her mother advanced to her bed. “I’m dead” Kagome muttered so only Nicole, and unknowingly to the hanyou, who was pretended to be asleep.

He sighed softly as he wondered how long it was going to take to get Kagome alone. “Kag honey, I didn’t want to tell you this so soon, but I can’t put it off much longer” Kagome swallowed hard.

“You’re going to have to stay here for a month” Mrs. Higurashi said, trying not to giggle at Inuyasha, who had stiffened at her words. She then pulled out a clipboard from behind her back.

“I know you are of age and you don’t have to do this, but its just going through a detoxification program” Kagome was about to argue, but her mother continued. “It will only be for a month, but the hospital needs your consent in this” She said while handing her daughter the clipboard.

Without a word, or even a read through, Kagome grabbed the clipboard and pen. She then signed it quickly before she lost her nerve. Mrs. Higurashi smiled brightly as she took the forms from her, while placing a kiss on her forehead.

“Honey one more favor” She said in a sad tone. Kagome braced herself as she nodded. “How did it happen?” Kagome’s heart ached at the sound of her mother’s shaky voice. Kagome let out a sigh and told her mother everything that had happened, excluding Nicole’s involvement or that her thoughts about Inuyasha and Kikyou are what drove her to it…

“But what would make you do anything like that?” Mrs. Higurashi said in a surprisingly soothing tone. Kagome’s mom then fallowed her daughters gaze to the ‘sleeping’ hanyou. Her mothers thoughts were confirmed when Kagome had said “Depression”

After a few awkward seconds, Mrs. Higurashi noticed Inuyasha stir from his ‘sleep’. “Nicole would you please come with me to go pick up Sota, he should be out of school any moment, and I’ll need help doing some shopping” She asked politely, as she got up from her sitting position.

Nicole nodded and gave Kagome one last glance of thanks before fallowing Mrs. Higurashi. When the door closed behind her cousin, Kagome glanced over to find that Inuyasha had left his chair, and was now occupying the space Nicole once was.

They just sat there in silence for what seemed like decades. “You fallowed me” Kagome said softly, braking the silence. Kagome was about to speak again, but forgot any words as she felt Inuyasha’s hand clasp hers.

She gasped as she felt as if her heart was beating a mile a minute at his simple action. As soon as the gasped escaped her lips, Inuyasha pulled his hand back quickly, fearing he had hurt her. At that moment Kagome would have done anything just to hear Inuyasha say something, even if he tried to start an argument!

But instead she sat there and watched the hanyou continue to stare at her blankets. ’Why wont he say anything! Gods I really screwed things up this time’ Kagome’s mind thought sadly. Kagome’s mind struggled as she tried her hardest to try to figure out what to say.

Finally after a few more minutes of uncomfortable silence, Kagome was going to start out a conversation with an apology. However, as soon as she tried to begin, she was soon cut off.

“I’m sorry Kagome” Inuyasha said in a melancholy voice. He had said it so low that Kagome’s ears strained to hear it. Her already heavy heart, felt like it had gained another ton.

Here she was, beaten and almost raped. And what made everything so much worse, was that everything she had done. Everything that was her own fault, was being carried by the only one who she ever cared for. ’Poor Inuyasha, he really believes that this is all his fault’ Kagome thought miserably.

“And all for a drug” Kagome said in a hateful tone. Kagome hadn’t realized she had said that out loud, until Inuyasha gave her a questioning look. She blushed lightly, as she again found the courage to speak.

She gently clasped Inuyasha’s hand as she spoke. “Inuyasha…you have no reason to apologize, none of this is even close to being your fault” Kagome then paused to wait for the hanyou’s reaction. What she got shocked her beyond belief.

His eye’s were filled with tears. Kagome hadn’t realized she was staring so long, until Inuyasha had pulled his hand away from hers and walked over to the nearest wall. He let out a scream before slamming his fist into the wall, leaving a decent looking hole.

“You know their going to charge my mom for that right” Kagome said jokingly. She soon regretted the comment when the hanyou glared at her. “Don’t do that” Inuyasha said in a threatening tone.

Kagome couldn’t help but feel her anger rise at his tone. “Don’t do what?” Kagome said sounding a bit annoyed. Inuyasha growled lowly as he stomped over to her bedside.

“Don’t joke around right now! You should be yelling at me not joking with me! I couldn’t protect you!” Inuyasha yelled angrily. Kagome felt as if her insides were being ripped to pieces.

She knew that if she would have just used her better judgment ie bee beginning, none of this would have happened. Kagome was about to speak, but was then cut off again. “I couldn’t keep one single fucking promise, I can never any fucking think right!” He yelled, and dug his claws into the palm of his hand.

Kagome could see the blood start to drip into the crevasses between his fingers. She then opened her moth to speak but again the hanyou was quicker. “You could have died, and its all my fault!…” Kagome now feeling very annoyed at not being able to get in a single word, interrupted him.

“SIT BOY! Sit sit sit sit sit sit sit” She said as she watched Inuyasha’s body hit the floor violently. Painfully, Kagome got out of her bed and slowly walked over to Inuyasha. Now,Now, while you’re just SIT-ing there, you listen to me. I did this to myself. How many times must I tell people its not there fault. Only mine! You didn’t do it, Nikky didn’t do it, I did. I was the one who snuck out for drugs, I was the one who called Luke, and I was the idiot who almost got myself killed! ALRIGHT! ME! IT WAS FUCKING ME!” Kagome yelled with every bit of frustration held in her.

Inuyasha, finally being free from the spell, got up quickly and towered over her, rage filling his eyes. But before he could yell at her, he felt her arms wrap around him and pulled him into a tight hug.

Any anger he had felt at the moment drained from his body completely. Inuyasha held her back and took in her sweet scent. His eye’s widen as she rubbed his back. Kagome strained to place her chin on his shoulder, and was soon able to as Inuyasha lowered himself, giving her better access.

“Please…please just listen, you did protect me” As she paused, Inuyasha held his breath. After a few more silent seconds Kagome continued.

“If it weren’t for you…I’d be dead. Inu, you did keep your promise, I didn’t” Her voice struggled to say, as the heat began to rise in her throat. Kagome pulled back and stared up at the hanyou, tears falling from her green orbs.
“I
“I’m so so sorry” She said before collapsing on him. “You idiot, you know you should be resting” He said while picking her up bridle style. “And you know I hate your damn crying” He added while walking over to her bed.

“You jerk” Kagome said while trying not to laugh. Kagome smiled warmly as Inuyasha placed her in bed, and pulled the blankets over her. Inuyasha then placed his hand on the side of her face, and caressed her cheek gently.

Inuyasha’s heart tighten as she snuggled against his hand. ’just say it! You almost lost her! Just do it!’ His mind screamed as he stared at her.

“Kagome?” Inuyasha said in a very nervous tone. “Hmm?…” The slight moan she put into her response was able to drain any courage he had. His mind thought madly for anything else to say.

“What is it Inuyasha?” Kagome asked in a worried voice. She had now had her eyes open, which only made it even harder for Inuyasha to come up with anything. Kagome was about to repeat herself, but Inuyasha was quicker.

“I need to go back really quick and tell the rest that I’m staying with you until you can come back home” He said a little to quickly. Without waiting for a response he made his way to the door.

“Inuyasha” Kagome said softly, while closing her eyes again. “What is it wench” He managed to get out with out giving off an emotion.

“Please hurry” She said softly, and drifted off into a peaceful sleep. Even though he knew she was asleep, he nodded and left the room.

“Higurashi, Kagome!” A plump women with blonde hair yelled from behind a wall with an open window in it. Kagome quickly got to the window and took the small paper cup, which contained two pills.

Kagome picked it up cautiously. “What is this?” She asked while examining the pills. “Its just all apart of the detox program, now just take the pills and drink the water. You want to have plenty of rest for tomorrow”

Kagome nodded and as she was told. But as soon as she put the cup down, she looked up at the nurse. “Umm…if you don’t mind me asking, what should I be rested up for?”

The nurse smiled brightly at her. “Your first group is tomorrow” She said still smiling. Kagome smiled back as she threw her cups away.

Kagome walked into a annoyingly bright room. The walls were blank, and the only thing in the room were a circle of chairs and about nine people. Kagome sat in a chair and waited for group to start.

As she waited, she noticed a girl that went to her school. The girl had short choppy blue hair that matched her eyes. She was very skinny. Almost paper looking, and wore clothes that looked to be four sizes to big.

Kagome searched her mind frantically for a name. Hoping that she could at least talk to someone while stuck in here. Her thoughts were then interrupted as a women with red hair and brown eyes, entered the room.

She took a seat next to Kagome and spoke. “Alright everyone, its time to begin” After a half hour Kagome learned that the girl with blue hair was named Akina. She also found out that she was heavily into heroin for two years.

Kagome felt sorry for the girl after listening to her story. She was torn between both parents, and when she couldn’t take it anymore she ran away. She lived on the streets after that, sharing random hotel rooms with random guys every night.

And the only reason why she was even here, was because she was arrested and brought to her parents. Once her parents got a hold of her they forced her into the detox program. “Ok everyone, its time for one on one interaction. Chose someone to talk to and don’t stop until today’s times up. Alright go” The therapist said while picking a random girl.

Kagome was soon approached by Akina. “I know you, Kagome right?” Akina said in a bitter tone. Kagome could only stare dumbly back at the blue haired girl. “Yeah, you’re her, you always hung out with those tree annoying chicks from hell” Akina said more hotly.

Kagome couldn’t help but feel a little threaten, but tried her best not to show it. “That’s me. Is there anything you wanted to talk about?” Kagome said as coolly as possible. “Yeah, kinda, I just wanted to tell you how funny this is” Akina said sarcastically.

Kagome was now getting impatient with this girl. “What’s funny?” Kagome asked, half worried Akina was capable at attacking her at any moment. “Oh, its just so funny…I mean I was actually jealous of you!” Akina yelled out, and then laughed loudly taking a step closer to her.

”You had everything! You had lots of little followers, everyone just loved you. Including Hojo, who just so happen to be my boyfriend, well was until you came along. You had that ass eating out of the palm of your hands. I could never do that to him…you were never at school but still was able to graduate in the top thirty. And now you’re here saying that even though you didn’t have to, you came into the program!” Akina yelled angrily, grabbing everyone’s attention.

“And even though your in here, you make it sound like you’re superior…but that’s what makes it funny! You’re just a druggie fuck up like me. Its just so funny!” Kagome stared wide eyed as Akina stormed out of the room.

A few hours later Kagome lay in bed, staring out the small window. “twenty-seven lovely days left to go” She sighed and turned to her side getting into a fetal position, waiting for sleep to come over her.


********** (AN: Lets just all pretend 27 days have past )


Kagome sat impatiently in the waiting room. Her bags next to her, and a cup of untouched coffee in her right hand.

“Oi Wench!” Kagome smiled brightly as she heard the familiar hanyou. She had nearly dropped her coffee as she saw Inuyasha and her mother walk up to her.

She ran over quickly, and hugged her mother and then Inuyasha. Kagome pulled back to see Inuyasha’s shock stricken face. “I’m happy to see you too” She said, and playfully hit Inuyasha’s arm before turning to get her bags.

On the way home Mrs. Higurashi updated Kagome on everything that had happen during her absence. However, Kagome was hardly listening.

She was to busy trying not to laugh at Inuyasha, who was still not use to the whole traveling by automobile. As they reached their destination, Inuyasha got out of the car as quickly as he could.

He grabbed all of Kagome’s bags and started to walk up the stairs. “Why do you carry so much shit with you!” Inuyasha yelled from the top. “I do it just to piss you off!” Kagome yelled back and smiled as she hear him growl.

“Kagome hun, I need to go pick up grandpa from the store, I might be a little late. Sota is staying at a friends house for the night. There’s ramen in the cabinet, but don’t strain yourself to much. And try to keep it down when you and Inu ‘make up’ ” Mrs. Higurashi winked and then drove off before Kagome could even begin to recuperate herself from the comment.

Kagome sighed as she thought it was best to just pretend she never heard any of it. ’lovely, I get to be alone in a huge house, with only Inuyasha’ She thought as she made her way up the steps and to the house, where the hanyou was waiting.

“Oi, did I hear the word ramen?” Inuyasha said excitedly. Kagome unlocked the door and walked in, “Yeah, I’ll start to make some if you take my stuff to my room” Kagome said and then flashed Inuyasha a cheesy smile.

Inuyasha only grunted as he obeyed. Once Kagome had both bowls ready, she walked into the living room where Inuyasha was sitting impatiently on the sofa. “What took you so damn long” He said while receiving the bowl.

Kagome only shook her head as she sat down next to the hanyou. She hadn’t even begun to eat, only using her chopsticks to push the noodles around. ’I need to know why he did it’ Her mind kept repeating over and over.

Her thoughts were then interrupted. “Oi, you not going to eat?” Inuyasha said while placing his bowl down. “No you can have it” Kagome said, and handed him the bowl. Instead of eating it, Inuyasha placed the bowl down besides his and scooted himself closer to her.

“Is there anything wrong?” Inuyasha asked while trying to examine Kagome. “I‘m fine Inuyasha, I just was trying to come up with a way to tell you something“ She said while avoiding eye contact with him.

“They said in group that we need to say sorry to at least one person we hurt during our drug use…” Kagome then paused to wait for Inuyasha to respond. However, Inuyasha was to shock to even begin to respond.

Kagome sighed and continued. “I realize that I hurt you many times, and I just wanted to say sorry“ Inuyasha only nodded. After a few moments of awkward silence Kagome spoke.

“Why?” Was the only thing she said. Inuyasha was taken back a bit in confusion. “Why what?” He said, trying to sound as if he had no interest, but failed.

“Why did you come after me, I mean why do you always come after me. You say I’m worthless, but then you’re always there when I’m in trouble. So I just wanted to know if I‘m such a bother then why help me”

Inuyasha stiffened as his mind searched for a way to tell her she was just being a ‘stupid wench’, but then stopped as she looked up at him with her fragile looking eyes.

“Wench you know as well as I do that I really don’t think you’re worthless” He said hoping that his response would satisfy her. Oh how wrong men can be.

“Then why do you say it?” Kagome said softly with pleading eyes. Inuyasha’s mind screamed. “I just do alright!” Inuyasha yelled while getting up from the sofa.

Kagome glared at him, feeling angry at his outburst. “NO! You tell me!” Kagome yelled back while jumping to her feet and forcing him to look at her.

“You want to know why! WHY! BECAUSE I LOVE YOU! THAT’S FUCKING WHY!” Inuyasha yelled. Once realizing what he had just confessed, he blushed heavily and walked out of the room.

Kagome stood in her place, with a shook filled expression on her face. ’He loves me…’ She then interrupted her own thoughts, and quickly ran off to confront Inuyasha.

And there you go. Ooooo I wonder what will happen next. Who am I kidding you all know I’m going to have them end up with each other. So which brings me to this question. Should I have a lemon for the next chapter or no. Please let me know. I promise the next chapter wont take as long as this one did to update. I hope.
