Crine and Punishment: Truth and Consquences

Chapter Six: Crime and Punishment: Truth and Consequences

Inuyasha sat outside Sandra's hut, after the fight Miroku and he had collected the three jewel shards, but it hardly made him happy. Sandra had been in a coma ever since. Sango and Miroku were in there tending to her now. Inuyasha didn't now when he fell asleep but the next thing he knew. A voice was calling his name, summoning him back to reality.
"Inuyasha!"
"Hua?"
"INUYASHA!"
It was Sango. Inuyasha opened his eyes.
"WHAT??????" He said.
"You said you wanted know when we find out what's wrong with Sandra."
"Oh yeah." He rose to his feet quickly. "Is she going to be alright?" Sango's face grew serious.
"Miroku said she's lost too much life energy....." Inuyasha felt like someone punched him.
"Will she die?"
"I don't know.... if she doesn't get help...then yes" Sango looked away.
"SHE CAN"T I DON'T BELIEVE YOU!!!!" Inuyasha snapped and rushed into the hut. Miroku had layed Sandra on the futon and sat over her silently praying. Inuyasha grabbed Miroku by the collar.
"You said she was alright when we brought her here last night! Now you're saying is gis going to die?!?! WHY? Because of me? TELL ME!!!!!!!" he shook Miroku violently before tossing him to the ground. Miroku picked himself up and stared at Inuyasha sadly.
"Her crystal is Dying..." he said quietly. "Bringing you back must have drained her lifestream dry and without her ki the crystal is being slowly "starved".
"So can't you do something? Can't we take it off her?"
"No, I believe that would kill her." he said before looking away from him. "I am not skilled enough in her magics to know what to do, she knew this...... Inuyasha, I can't bring her back......I'm sorry...." Inuyasha just stared at him blankly, he looked over at Sandra's lifeless body.
"Inuyasha....."
"Leave us." he said quietly. Miroku hesitated. "NOW!" Inuyasha screamed. Miroku said nothing and left the hut leaving Inuyasha crying into Sandra's hair. It was sometime later that Inuyasha collected himself. It's all my fault, he thought just like with Kykyio. Another beautiful woman had been hurt because of him. He swore to himself as he bit his lip in anger. I'll save you, Sandra.... He thought to himself.....somehow. He clentched a fist, a tiny drop of blood came from his lip into his mouth, just then the thought came to him. Blood. Sandra had said blood was life. Why blood? Because it ALWAYS has to be blood. Blood is life. The words echoed in his mind. Sandra's words.....Blood is life..... Sango's words.....Sandra has lost too much life energy, without it she'll die....... And finally, Miroku's words to him...Sandra's crystal needs Ki, without it she'll die.... Inuyasha blinked and looked back at Sandra who was still laying on the futon. Using his claw Inuyasha cut a shallow cut in his arm.
"I hope this works" he said allowed to himself, as he let the blood drip slowly onto Sandra's Crystal. The Crystal reacted almost immediatly shinning brighter with every drop, but Inuyasha soon realized it wasn't going to be enough. He had to do something else, he could sense it. He thought quickly, but only one thing came to his mind. He leaned over and with the arm that wasn't cut he tilted Sandra's head back gently so her mouth opened slightly, he flexed his other arm so a small amout of blood trickled into her mouth.
"Sandra....I ... I want to hear your voice again...." Inuyasha whispered. The Crystal was glowing brighter and Inuyasha smiled as he saw the blue color return to it. The blue light emmersed him and he felt it going through him sucking the life from him small waves. He could see Sandra'sr str starting to change, but instead of the blue streaks turning white the black strands of hair were changing and the blue was lingering unchanged. Inuyasha remained conscience long enough to see Sandra's eyes slowly flutter open.

That Night Inuyasha awoke alone in Sandra's hut, his head hurt. Did I do it? Did I save Sandra? He sat up. His red kimono top was laying beside him but he didn't put it on. As he made his way out the door the cool night air felt crisp and refreshing on his bare cheast. He immediatly saw Miroku sitting quietly by the fire. He rushed over to the priest, who rose to his feet when he saw him.
"Inuyasha, you shouldn't be moving around yet" he said. Inuyasha ignored him anded ted to push past him.
"Where's Sandra?" he said. Miroku blocked his path.
"Inuyasha....."
"What?"
"Before you go see her there's something I must dicuss with you..."
"Grrr......make it quick."
"Inuyasha, I don't know what you did to her but..."
"I SAVED her you idiot!" Inuyasha interrupted. "I don't have time for this I need to talk to her..." Inuyasha pushed his way past the monk who just sighed and let him go.

Inuyasha tried to follow Sandra's scent but for some reason he couldn't smell her anymore. So, it was some time before he saw her standing alone in the clearing away from camp. She turned to face him as he approached.
"Sandra..." He started to say but stopped short as she stepped into the light of the full moon. Her smell was different...more wild....and her hair...... the raven locks of hair had vanished leaving in their place shining white silver locks like his own, only the delecte blue steaks remained the same.
"It was like this when I woke up..." she said fingering a strand of hair. "I thought it would pass after I regained my strength, but..." she looked away from him. She held out her small hands, Inuyasha was surprised to see they had grown rather long claws.
"That's not all....." she said and opened her mouth slightly revealing to small fangs. Inuyasha opened his mouth to speak but all he managed to say was..
"How?"
"I..I...don't know.... when I brought you back, I thought for sure it would kill me....but you saved me. Why?" Inuyasha felt his face flush a little
"I... I just wanted to hear your voice again....."
"I think when you brought me back, my crystal took some of your life stream into me and merged it with my life stream. I think that's why I took on some of your physical attributes, but I fear they may be permanent because my crystal took so much of your ki."
"Keh!" he snorted at her, "If you ask me the world needs more people like me...." Sandra looked at him surprised.
"You mean you don't care?"
"Why would I care? Your the one who has to look like that." Inuyasha took her into his arms and kissed her.
"I donno," she said finally, "I kinda like it..... the hair I mean."

The next Morning Sandra packed her bags and she and Inuyasha set off for the well. Miroku had made her promise to return to him again saying some excuse about how she had to teach him more effective magics. Sandra Smiled and kissed the monk on the cheek lightly before reaching around and smacking his ass. Miroku blushed, but stilll found it in himself to return the gesture. When the reached the well Inuyasha turned to her. He had been strangely silent since the had left the camp.
"I don't want you to go...." he finally said. "I want you to stay." He took her hand and Sandra could see the storm clouds gathering in his eyes.
"I can't." she said. "My place is in my time and yours is here with Kagome...." Inuyasha blinked. He hadn't thought about Kagome in a while not since Sandra had been injured, he was surprised at this.
"I don't care about Kagome..." He found himself saying. "I care about you....." he reached up and gently brushed the hair off her shoulders revealing his mark on her neck. "You have to stay.... your mine now....." Sandra looked away.
"I...I...I can't stay....deep down you know this." she said.
"I know, part of me knows but...but... ever since that night at the cave when I almost lost you... I felt.... different." His voice trailed off. Sandra looked to Inuyasha who now knelt beside her. He was shaking. Sandra held him in her arms or was he holding her?
"Inuyasha..." she finally whispered. "I'm sorry........Goodbye...."
The wind picked up and again there was a light. Inuyasha felt Sandra release him, and as the light vanished Inuyasha realized he was alone, the only thing that lingered was a trail of blue smoke where Sandra had been.
