Chapter 1, Part V - First Day On the Job
And that's how Kagome met her bestfriend, Nadeshiko Sango. After taking Kagome back to her house (and delivering a blistering reprimand referring to Kagome's idiocy that would make Mrs. Higurashi proud), the two girls were inseparable since then. Kagome was fully determined to be able to extinguish vampires as well as she did youkais. So under Sango's watchful eyes, she trained and trained until her work paid off. She took martial arts classes, weapons training (even gun shooting and knife throwing), endurance training, and even yoga and ballet (to add to her body's flexibility and elasticity). How she managed to cram it all on her already busy schedule even she didn't know, but she was vampire hunting and demon exterminating together with Sango before she knew it. She only stopped when she went home, back to Japan.
'And you'd better start getting busy rather than reminiscing old times. You've got a hectic schedule ahead of you, Kagome. The clock's ticking, so work your ass off!'
Kagome berated herself furiously as she shrugged into her 'doctor' clothes. Taking a deep breath, she opened the double doors of the emergency room, where chaos reigned as usual. The nurses descended on her like vultures, and she was headed for her first emergency of the day. And it was only 8 in the morning.
First day on the job's going to be rough.

'Nadeshiko, Sango' literally means 'pink coral'.
