Chapter 5
Moving Trouble

So much in my life has changed. This is the second life changing even I have had to suffer through in 2 years. The first being when I had to get use to the traveling and the demon fights and now returning to my time knowing that things will never be the same again.

I really have a lot to thank Sesshomaru for. I guess in this way he would be like a father, paying for my education and supporting me while I get the knowledge needed to support myself. I wonder though if he sees what is going on between us as a real adoption? Does he truly see himself as a father figure or guardian to me? The way he acted at that school to that boy would suggest that he does, but at the same time he is giving me my freedom in such a way no father would to his teenage daughter. Its probably more like a guardianship. He would take care off me financially and I know he would protect me physically if needed, but that is as far as it goes. He will take no notice in my social life as long as it does not affect myself physically or himself at all.


Tomorrow will be my first day living away from the Shrine and I am about to spend the first night at my new home. I was thankful to learn that Shippo would be living here too. I would be a sleep by the time he arrives but it is still good to know that I’m not alone. Another thing to get use too was the fact that I now have servants and a cook! Sometimes I can not believe how much planning this would have taken Sesshomaru in order to fulfill his brothers wishes, but again I am grateful.


It seems like I have a lot to be grateful for now a days.

“Hey Shippo lets go for a walk in the back forests.” Kagome asked as they sat in the living room watching T.V. lazily.


With a smile Shippo stands and extends his hand to her “Good, I was going stir crazy with being too bored! Shippo like Kagome was a teenager in age though his illusion pictures him as a man in his early 20s. He use to have fun when his illusion aged to where he was an old man. It was so funny to mock ‘today’s youth’ with other old people. That never failed to give him amusement.


Excepting his hand with a smile Kagome stands “Me too. I’m still use to traveling all day everyday. So being so idle for long periods of time makes me antsy.” she said with a chuckle as they collected their jackets and walked out the front door.


“I keep forgetting that it has only been a month give or take since you’ve been back. 500 years have pasted for us so we had time to adjust.” Shippo commented as they walked into the tree line in the back yard.


“So how far back does Sesshomaru’s property go?” Kagome asked curious also wanting to make sure they don’t trespass on anyone’s property.


With a chuckle Shippo responds “This is not just Sesshomaru’s property anymore you know? Its yours now too, it has always been so. I was there when the agreement was made, Inuyasha had said that you get half of whatever he has earned with the information given. So even if he had a child it could not be his heir. You would gain all business and half of everything else. His child and mate would get what was left she he ever die.”


“It’s still weird to think that I own anything shared by Sesshomaru. Don’t forget I have only known the side of him that tries to kill Inuyasha or myself a few times. What I do have a question about though is how will I send back the name of heir when it is time for me too do so? I mean when I get around the human age he shows the public he is how will I get the name of heir back to him? Am I going to have to fake child birth or something? To be honest for a while I was afraid that he wanted a true heir from the both of us. Well at least until I had found out that he was adopting me as his child.” Kagome finished with a funny face making Shippo chuckle.


“Ha ha ha you were afraid big dog wanted to make you his house wife? I don’t really know what he has planned, but I don’t think its that. He might have you fake a birth for his next identity. But as the rest of your family goes I think he would continue as he is now. Supporting them financially while they give him his next identity. It would make it easier on him. It is a pain to have to come up with all that stuff every few decades. We still support Sango and Miroku’s family and in exchange they do the same for us. Except with them its my identity. You know its funny because that family took a last name to support Kirara. But anyway… 20 acres back is property line” Shippo said as they walked deeper into the forested area .


“Hm, who are the neighbors? Do you know?” Kagome asked wanting to keep up conversation.


“There is a dojo to the east. That is the closest. To the west has about 10 acres before you come to a home. North is well you know. And south is another 15 acres before you come to a home.” Shippo replied he knew the area having made it his business when he learned he and Kagome would be staying here. Kagome was a trouble magnate in the past and now as a billionaire she was sure to attract attention of all kinds.


“Good.” Was the only thing she said before she stopped where she was facing south.


“Why?” Shippo asked confused on why they stopped. ‘what is going on?’ he asked himself silently receiving his answer soon enough.


“Because we are being approached by a few demons coming in fast from the South.” Kagome said as she looked around for any thing she could use as a weapon. “Do u have anything I could use as a weapon?” she asked Shippo seeing him already moving into an offensive stance.


Hearing the words and knowing its meaning Shippo’s body moved on its own accord. His legs shifted moving him into an easy offensive and defensive stance that would allow him to either protect or defend. “Just this pocket knife” Shippo answered tossing it too her knowing that he does not need a weapon because he has fox fire.


Taking the knife gratefully she asks “So what do you think they want?”


“No clue. How many of them.” Shippo asked he could not feel them which means they are shield themselves now. They probably thought Kagome could not sense them when they were way back there.


“There were 10 easy. Fairly powerful as well. Do u have your phone to call Sesshomaru they’ll be here any second.” Kagome asked nervously she feels defenseless without her bow with her.


“Ya” Shippo replied speed dialing Sesshomaru. “Hey this is an emergency… No we are about to be attacked….” he never got to finish his sentence as the demons came flying out of the tree line and directly towards Kagome forcing him to hang up the phone. “Stay behind me ok Kagome” Shippo said as he stepped in front of her to ward off the demons.

Kagome stayed behind Shippo as he told her trying to protect his back by throwing short blasts of her miko ki to any demon that got too close.


The taste of ash told Shippo that he now had 9 attackers to take care of. Dodging and blocking fangs and claws being thrown at him he was slowly being drawn away from Kagome. Kagome being too busy watching the back side and dodging hits of her own could not follow and they were parted.

Drawing her powers into her hand all the while holding the knife in the other ready to stab if needed she threw it at the next demon as it lunged at her. She was forced to dodge as even as he was being purified he still came at her. “Ahhh” Kagome screamed startled as her foot caught something on the ground and made her loose her footing.


Hearing her scream Shippo turns to the noise sharply seeing for the first time that they were separated and he would not have enough time to get to her. “KAGOME!!!” he screams as he watches a demon descend upon her fallen form claws bared and ready kill.


Pain erupted through the right side of her chest and blood spilled from the new wound. But just as the demon caught her chest she thrust the blade up into its belly. The feeling of blood being splattered on to her face could be felt and she knew she did it on time. Pained and tired Kagome glances at Shippo.


He was surrounded and stuck on the defensive he could not break the chain, but was able to tell by scent that Kagome was wounded but alive and tire. “KAGOME RUN!” He called out to her knowing that with her here and injured as she was he would not be able to fight fully.


“No Shippo I cant leave you!” she answers back standing on her feet and ready to engage herself in the battle.

“NO! Your Injured Run I will be ok. I can fight better when I don’t have to worry. Hurry before you faint from energy loss!” Shippo yelled his face fierce.


Seeing the look on his face and in his eyes she knew she could not disobey and moved to run. She was loosing a lot of blood and she was becoming dizzy if she did not heal herself and fast she would die of blood loss. Once she was a safe distance away Kagome stopped and collected her breath before continuing to heal herself enough to where she was no longer bleeding. Much more tired and vision blurred she ran until she could not run anymore.

“Bark Bark” the barking of a tanuki could be heard echoing around the room.


“Aa, what is wrong tanuki-chan” a deep monotone voiced asked the barking raccoon dog.


“Bark Bark” the tanuki answered before jumping down from the table it was on only to jump on to the window sill and out the window. Luckily the home was a dojo style home.


Following the tanuki silently the dark haired guy wondered what this was all about. Though he found his answer when his tanuki came to a stop just out side of the tree line on the west side of his property.

There laid an unconscious woman covered in blood. Shocked and worried into action Mori picks up the bloodied body of the girl and brings her into his home so he could call the hospital. “Hang on Miss im going to call the hospital” he said in a rare show of words. He was not expecting a reply, but when he got it he was shocked.


“No hospitals please. Please just call Sesshomaru Taisho only.” was the weak reply that came from the fastly fading into unconsciousness Kagome.


“But,” he started and she interrupted using the last of her energy “I’m not bleeding anymore I, please just call Sesshomaru Taisho” she begged before darkness was all she knew.


Not really sure if he should comply or not he takes her into the bathroom to cleanse and check her wounds. Only too see that she was not bleeding anymore. Peeling her shirt back more he was able to see what looked like animal claw marks. He knew there was no way that wounds this fresh should be healed this much already. And although against his better judgment he decided to listen to her plea and not call the hospital. Bandaging her wounds he then takes her to his room and places her on his bed unsure what to do now.


A few hours later found Kagome waking from her unconscious state. “Arg, I feel like I’ve been put through a blender.” she said to herself out loud not expecting a reply.


“You have been out for a few hours” So when she received one she was justifiably startled.


“Oh, thanks for taking care of me” Kagome said when she felt the bandages that where around her chest. While blushing at the idea of this strange man seeing her chest even if it was wounded.


He nodded and handed Kagome the phone “You told me to call someone, but I did not know the number so here.” he said while giving her the phone and stepping out of the room to give her some privacy.


Dialing Sesshomaru she got through on the second ring “Speak” she exhaled when his voice washed over the phone. “Hey, um I’m ok…. I think I ran in the wrong direction when we were attacked. Yes they were normal, but their was a lot of them and we were unarmed. I think I’m at the dojo to the east of the mansion. No I’m ok I healed myself mostly…. No I don’t have enough energy to make it home on foot…. Thanks…ok I will when I get home.” Kagome said before she hung up the phone and placed it on the nightstand beside the bed before taking a look around for the first time. She could tell this was a boys room, not only did the best smell manly but the room looked manly except for the little chick in the corner of the room.


After a few minutes the boy came back into the room and Kagome thanked him again “Thanks again for helping me… I have a car coming to pick me up soon. Im your neighbor by the way Kagome Taisho.” she said extending her hand to the cute stranger.


“Mori” he said while shaking her hand. “what happened” he asked wanting to know how she got that hurt. What little he could hear of her conversation made no sense to him.


“Oh, um I was attacked by someone in the woods… they had on gloves like Freddy Kruger!” Kagome said with a shiver thinking about that horror character from those movies. (I do not own Freddy Kruger)


The sounds of a beeping horn could be heard stopping the boy from asking anymore questions.


Hearing the horn she knew Jaken was here. Springing to her feet she made to bow to the boy while issuing her thanks “Thanks for helping me” she said before she made to leave as fast as she could without running.


Mori watched her leave silently wondering what that was all about.

A few minutes later found her inside her new home with Sesshomaru and Shippo sitting in the living room. As soon as she walked into the door Shippo launched himself at Kagome concern for her clear in his eyes. “Kagome-chan are you ok?” he asked franticly looking over her for injuries. Seeing them already treated he back down and allowed her to explain what happened.


Explain everything from healing herself to running and the boy no one spoke. Once she was finished Sesshomaru stood and faced her. “Since you are ok Miko I expect a full report on the happenings of today” he finished before turning and walking out the door.


The rest of the night was quiet as both Kagome and Shippo needed to rest after the day they had… the report could wait until morning.

dont worry the new school year starts next chapter. I just had to point out a few things with this chapter and dont forget that i changed changed things in the first and third chapter so go back and read it if u have not.
