Chapter Five - Hearing Your Voice
Rin sat on the floor weeping as Sesshomaru held her and tried to calm her down. He had watched the whole thing in a stunned silence, but nonetheless he was proud of Rin for standing up for herself. It was amazing to him how she could go through something so tragic, and still have a heart to love and trust. The couple sat by the door unmoving until Rins sobs subsided.
“Thank you Sesshomaru.” Rin whispered as she turned to look at him.
Sesshomaru gave her s small smile and said, “I am grateful to have someone such as you in my life, Rin. And I really do love you.” He placed a chaste kiss on her lips.
Rin placed her right hand on Sesshomarus check and caressed it with her thumb. She gave him a weak smile as a tear streamed down her face. “I feel the same.”

It had been over a month since the two had began seeing each other, each spending an ample amount of time with the other—and Sesshomaru had plans to celebrate. Sesshomaru was in his room, lying on his bed, staring at the ceiling. He couldn’t keep her out of his mind, and that wasn’t really a problem with him.
He got of his bed and went to a small table just beside it and got his cell phone. He dialled her number and waited for an answer.
Hi, you’ve reached Rin. I can’t get to the phone right now so, you know what to do. See Yah!
“She must be at work.” Sesshomaru thought, so he left a message and just hoped she got back to him soon.

It was days like this Rin wished she had another job. She was a fashion photographer and worked alongside Kouga and Kagome at Crystalline Studios—Rin took the pictures and Kagome was the creative director and Kouga … He just ran the place. An upcoming model—Kayouya Jiren—hated her, and she just met the girl! She was very beautiful with long black hair and ice blue eyes, but that was about it.
“Rin, go and get me some water to drink. And it better not be tap water!” Kayouya yelled.
“I’m not your assistant!” Rin yelled back.
“Well, you’re ASSISTING my career!”
“And you’re ASSISTING my pay check!”
“Then get me some water!”
“Get it yourself!”
“No!”
“Then you’re just not gonna get any now are you!?”
Kayouya stormed off—probably to complain to Kouga—out of the room.
“The bitch could’ve just gone and got it herself, she left anyways.” Rin rolled her eyes and turned to the computer to review the pictures that were taken that day. They weren’t terrible, but Rin had definitely seen better from people with even less experience.
“Rin what was that?” Kagome asked as she walked into the room.
“What do you mean?” Rin asked, still a little irritated.
“Don’t know ... that new girl was running to Kouga complaining about you.” Kagome started as she walked over and sat beside Rin who was still looking at pictures, “Said you didn’t want to get her water or something like that.” Kagome giggled.
“That girl is so irritating; you know she yelled at the secretary in the front because she didn’t know who she was?”
“Seriously, that girl has issues.”
“You’re telling me.” Rin said sarcastically.
“Why is she … scowling in almost every picture?” Kagome almost laughed.
“I have no clue; she probably thinks she looks sexy.” Rin laughed.
Kagome just couldn’t help herself now, she burst out laughing as she saw a close up with the same face in every picture. Rin and Kagome flipped through the pictures, laughing and critiquing until they heard the door fling open and slam shut. It was Kayouya, and she was fuming.
“What the hell is wrong with this place?” She said to no one in particular … although there were only two people in the room at the time. She walked over to the two sitting around the computer and yelled, “Move! I want to look at my masterpieces!”
Kagome bolted up, but Rin sat in place unmoving … didn’t even turn around to look at her.
“Hello Rin! I said move!”
Rin turned to her and said calmly, “No.”
Kayouya was brooding with anger. She was contemplating just pushing her off her chair. Before she could, Kouga walked in. “How’s everyone doing in here?” He called out cheerily.
Kagome looked at him, “Everything’s fine … right Rin?”
“Yeah sure,” Rin was about ready to knock Kayouya in her teeth, but she waited. “I think I’m going to go now. I’m … tired.” She shot a dark look at Kayouya who returned her glare. Rin stood and walked out of the room with Kagome.
“What’s going on with you and Rin?” Kouga asked.
“She gives too much attitude.” Kayouya spat.
“Just try and stay out of problems alright?” Kouga wouldn’t believe that Rin would give attitude without being provoked. He had known her for some time now and she has never really had a problem with anyone except … she had a short temper. Kouga knew that if provoked, Rin could be explosive. He was worried … For Kayouya anyways. “Oh, and we’re going to have a party for the staff. You’re invited and you can bring a guest. Hope to see you there.” And Kouga walked out of the room, leaving Kayouya to herself.

Rin and Kagome said their goodbyes and parted ways to their cars. Rin went to her Silver Volvo and sat back in the seat and sighed out her frustration. Flipping open her cell she saw that Sesshomaru had called her about 3 hours ago. She checked the message:
“Hey Rin; It’s Sesshomaru. Call me when you get the chance alright. Love you, Bye.”
She called him right after the message was finished playing,
“Hello.”
“Hey Sess; I got your message, what’s up?”
“Just wanted to talk … how are you?”
“Just work.” Rin sighed.
“What happened?”
“Some new girl, she thinks that she’s a big shot because Kouga liked her pictures. She’s so … Annoying.”
“Just forget about her, hopefully she won’t be there for long right?”
“Yeah, I’ll just hope.” There was a short pause and Rin began to talk again, “Hey Sess, do you want to go to a party?”
“Yeah, when?”
“Friday, it’s a work party. But we can bring guests.”
“Yeah sure,”
“Thank you!” Rin actually smiled. Talking to Sesshomaru always lightened her mood.
Sesshomaru couldn’t help but laugh. She sounded like a child.
“Why are you laughing?” Although she couldn’t help but chuckle—his laugh was contagious.
“No reason, oh and how are we getting to your party?”
“Depends, if you want to drive or should I?”
“I think I’ll drive … Unless you want to?”
“I don’t mind. Just be at my house by Hmmm… 6:30-ish?”
“Alright, should I call you later? I’m guessing you might want to be alone for a bit.”
“Thank you, I’ll call you later?”
Sesshomaru was great to be around and she loved him, but he was always sure to give her space, even if she didn’t ask for it. She hasn’t had the problem, because she almost always wanted to be around him, but times like this when she just wanted to brood by herself, he could always tell even if she never said it.
“Yeah that’s fine.”
“I love you Sesshomaru.”
“I love you too Rin. Bye.”
“Bye.” As she closed her phone, she started up her car and sped out of the parking lot. She had a lot to think about on the drive home. It was Tuesday … So she only had 2 days to prepare for the party … Great.
