Chapter 5

Four years had past and Sesshomaru still hadn’t come back yet from China. Rin had been sending him letters, telling him how much she misses him and how much Rihashi has grown. Rihashi was now almost five years old, he was walking and talking which started a few years back. His silver hair was nearly past his bottom and at the ends of his hair were black though which was now more noticeable than when he was only an infant.

Before Sesshomaru departed to China he had assigned a personal combat trainer and body guard for Rihashi. He had chosen Nitaku who was a very loyal demon to Sesshomaru and he had complete trust in Nitaku to teach his son and protect him. Even though Nitaku was a full blooded demon and Rihashi was only a half demon. He swore to Sesshomaru that he will make a strong man out of Rihashi and will protect him even if it costs him his life.

“Master Rihashi, master Rihashi where are you” Nitaku was walking down the hall calling out for the young boy. He then heard a giggle and stopped in his tracks, Nitaku then smelt his scent, it was coming from behind one of the plant pots. “Now where could he be” Nitaku didn’t mind playing around with him for a bit. After all he is still just a child but the physical work will come soon enough. “Hmmm I wonder where he’s hiding” and he slowly walked towards the pot where Rihashi was hiding.

The young pup giggled “their you are” before Rihashi could get away Nitaku quickly grabbed him. “Come on Nitaku let me go” he was kicking trying to get free from his grasp but Nitaku knew to well that if he let the young prince go he would just run of. “We are going to watch some demons spar outside” Nitaku told him Nitaku headed out into the court yard with Rihashi still in his arms. When they reached the arena Nitaku put the small boy down onto the ground.

Two demons where fighting each other “wow their strong” Rihashi said in amazement. He didn’t even take his eyes of them for even a second. “Hey Nitaku do you think I will be able to be that strong one day” he asked. Nitaku looked down at the young boy “I am very confident that you will” he replied. Rihashi smiled ‘I want to be a great warrior’ he thought to himself, they both watched until the match was over.

The two demons shook hands when they suddenly saw a young boy looking at them “what the” Nitaku hadn’t even noticed Rihashi had left his side. “Man I sure have my work cut out for me” he said to himself and walked into the ring. “Well hello young master how are you today” one of the demons asked him. “I’m good, will you teach me that” the two demons looked at each other thinking on what to say. They saw Nitaku walking over and quickly bowed to him “Rihashi” the boy looked around and saw a very angry Nitaku. “I told you never to leave my side like that” he told Rihashi. The boy looked down at his feet “I’m sorry” Rihashi said in a very baby voice. “Lets go” and they both headed back to the castle why the two demons went their separate ways.

“Am I a bad boy” Rihashi asked stopping in his tracks, Nitaku turned around and saw the sad look on the child’s face. “No Rihashi your not why would you think of such a thing”. Rihashi looked up at him “because big brother Saisho doesn’t like me” he replied. “I try to talk to him but he just ignores me have I done something wrong to make him angry” Rihashi was almost in tears now. It was true that since Saisho’s mother past away he always ignored Rin and would never speak to Rihashi. They might be brothers but to Saisho he didn’t want to think of Rihashi as his younger brother.

Nitaku bent down to be eye level with the sad little hanyou “Saisho doesn’t hate you he has just had many things on his mind and wants to be left alone, so just give it time and I am sure things will work out on their own ok” Nitaku told him. Rihashi started to feel a little better and he would believe that one day him and Saisho will become great brothers.

Since Rihashi was now older he had no idea that his mother wasn’t actually Saisho’s biological mother. Rin had kept that little bit of information to herself until Sesshomaru was back and they would discuss it with one another.

Rin was in her chambers writing another letter to Sesshomaru like she had always done since he left.

To my love Sesshomaru,

How are you I hope that you are safe and well, you know something I think in nearly every single letter I send you that’s how it starts of. Things over here in the western lands are rather peaceful at the moment. Their have been no attacks in any of the human villages which I am very thankful for.

I must tell you that Nitaku says it soon might be time to teach Rihashi how to learn some combat skills. I get a little worried but as he is your son I know that he will do just fine, you are his father after all. It seems that Saisho still doesn’t want to be around any one even though I have written this many times in these letters.

I get really worried about him to I really wish he would let me in and Rihashi as well. Rihashi has been rather upset lately since Saisho is still ignoring him. Maybe when you come home you might be able to have a chat with Saisho. After all he is your son as well and the heir of these lands I think he just seeks some attention from you. I don’t want to push you into anything but maybe a little father son time would be good for him.

I don’t want to replace his real mother because I know I never could but I do love him as if he was my own. I just want him to be happy and then maybe both him and Rihashi can become like real brothers.

So how are things over in China, will the war be over soon because I cant wait to see you. When you come back we will hold a big feast to celebrate your return.

“You called for me lady Rin” a maid came in “yes I would like to send this letter to Sesshomaru” she told her. “Yes mam I will do it straight away” the maid took the letter and left the room shutting the door behind her.

Two weeks later went by since Rin’s letter had been sent to Sesshomaru. One night when every one had gone to bed a big explosion was heard from outside. Rin woke up startled from the loud noise. Nitaku came running into her room “lady Rin we must go now” he told her. “What is going on” she asked “no time to explain we must get master Rihashi and head down to the escape root” he told her. They ran across to Rihashi’s room, “mummy” Rin ran over to her crying son who was frightened from the noise. “We must leave Rihashi” she told him.

He jumped out of his bed and took his mothers hand they ran out the room and headed down the hall way. “Oh no Saisho” she started running the opposite direction letting go of Rihashi’s hand. “LADY RIN” Nitaku called after her but she kept running, he picked Rihashi up and ran after her. Rin had finally gotten to Saisho’s room, she opened the door and he was shaking on the floor.

“Saisho” Rin ran over to him “come on we must go” she told him “what’s the point” he asked. “The point is that your part of this family and I am not leaving without you” she replied, Saisho looked at her. “But” he tried to say something, “brother” a small voice called out to him. Saisho looked up and saw Rihashi in Nitaku’s arms, Nitaku let him down when suddenly another explosion was heard. It scared him and he didn’t run to Nitaku or Rin he actually ran to Saisho.

“Bother” Rihashi then fell into Saisho’s arms gripping onto his shirt “please come with us please big brother” tears where coming down Rihashi’s face. Saisho looked at him another explosion came. “We have to move now” Nitaku pulled Rin up and Saisho stood Rihashi up and they ran out the room, together.

They headed down the hall “were almost their” Nitaku said why they where running to the escape root which lead outside the castle. Rihashi tripped over, Saisho looked behind him and saw Rihashi on the ground. He ran back and grabbed Rihashi wrist and pulled him up, they both then ran.

They all finally reached escape entrance “alright follow the tunnel” first Rin went in and then Saisho still holding onto Rihashi‘s wrist, Nitaku followed after. They soon came to the end and found themselves outside the castle walls. They turned around and their where demons attacking the only army that was told to stay behind by Sesshomaru to protect his family if anything like this happened why he was gone.

“Who is doing this” Rin said, wanting to know who it is that ordered these demons to attack the castle. Suddenly a big flash came through the large gate, lots of the enemy demons where flown into the air. “I know that light from any where” Rin said remembering she saw something like that when she was traveling with Sesshomaru. “It is Sesshomaru” she said, the boys looked at her “you mean that father has returned” Saisho said.

Sesshomaru walked through the gates and into his castle grounds most of his army had been killed. The enemies what was left of them surrounded Sesshomaru, “die Sesshomaru” the leader said by the looks of him. The demons all attacked at once straight towards the calm Sesshomaru, he brought out his tokijin and with one slash he released his dragon strike and killed them all. Sesshomaru’s army cheered for the victory unfortunately their comrades who had been killed couldn’t enjoy it with them.

“General” Sesshomaru called “yes milord”, “where is my mate and my sons” he asked the soldier. “I had been informed that Nitaku had taken them through the escape root on the south entrance milord” the general told him. “I see, now get this place cleaned up”, “right away milord” and Sesshomaru walked of. He knew one place where his mate was and headed that way to bring her and his sons back.

Rin was sitting on the grass asleep with Rihashi in her lap and he had fallen asleep also after the commotion ended. Nitaku leaned up against a tree not to far away from Rin and Rihashi. Saisho was standing next to him, why looking at Rihashi asleep in Rin’s arms. Nitaku noticed Saisho looking at the young pup “what are you thinking” he asked, “nothing” was Saisho’s reply. “Nothing huh well to me it seems that there is something on your mind” Nitaku told him. Saisho looked away “look I said its nothing alright” he replied. “It‘s about Rihashi isn’t it” Nitaku guessed.

“So what if it is” Saisho questioned “ah I thought so, now I’m curious, what is it that you have against him anyway” Nitaku asked. “I think the reason why I truly despise Rihashi is because father notices him more than me, I’m not saying I want attention from him its just that ever since I was born or before I could even walk, father has always ignored me and I am suppose to be his heir” he told Nitaku. “So you feel neglected in some sort of way” Nitaku asked “I guess you can say that, its just that not only does father take more notice to him but my mother was killed because of him, all she wanted was to be loved by father but all she got in return was a death sentence by fathers own orders to, if, if father had never met that human, Rihashi would have never been born and I would still have my mother” he said. “It’s not fair, to see him have his mother but I don’t have mine” Saisho then said.

Before Nitaku could say another word he saw a dark figure walking towards them when once the moon light hit the person he could see that it was Sesshomaru. Rin looked up and saw Sesshomaru standing right their in front of her she couldn’t believe it.

She stood up with Rihashi still in her arms and ran straight towards him. “Sesshomaru”, he wrapped his arms around her but not to tight as his son was sleeping in her arms. Nitaku saw the look on Saisho’s face, it wasn’t the look of anger but the look of sadness. Now Nitaku understood what Saisho was actually talking about, he felt like an outsider and not really part of the family.

No one had even noticed that he was even their it was as if he was invisible to all three of them. ‘I could have had that if only father had loved mother instead of a human then I would truly be happy’ he thought to himself. Sesshomaru let go of Rin and looked over to his other son who was standing by himself.

Sesshomaru walked over to Saisho, he was about to put his hand on his eldest sons head when his hand was slapped away. “Don’t touch me” he told Sesshomaru, he then walked past his father, Rihashi woke up and looked at Saisho. Rin put him down, Saisho was about to past him when Rihashi stood in front of his elder brother. Saisho looked down at him “now that’s every thing is ok again we can go and play together” Rihashi said. “You have got to be kidding right” Saisho said with an annoyed tone. “Get out of the way Rihashi” he told the young boy “but”, “I SAID GET OUT OF THE WAY” he yelled and pushed his little brother aside.

Saisho had pushed Rihashi rather hard that the young pup fell to the ground rather hard. Rihashi started crying and Saisho just ignored him and walked away. Rin ran over to her son and picked him up trying to calm him down. He didn’t get any injuries from the fall which was good but he did hit the ground very hard. Sesshomaru watched as his eldest son headed towards the castle “what will you do now lord Sesshomaru” Nitaku asked him. “What do you mean”, “I mean your oldest son of course, you know the reason why he hates Rihashi so I think it would be a good idea if you talked to him” Nitaku told Sesshomaru.

A few days went by since the attack and the little outburst between Saisho and Rihashi. The young pup got over it rather quickly but Saisho he hadn’t even left his room since that night. He didn’t allow anyone in he just wanted to be left alone.

Well that is another chapter done I will have two new chapters up next time.
