Chapter 5
A Backfired plan
Kikyo gathered her clothing, with a cynical smile; she headed down stream. “Kagome I’ll be close.”
“Thank you,” Kagome said as she stepped away from the bushy shrub. Kagome approached the bank of the generous stream. Shallow in some areas she found it to be deeper in the center. There was a slight current, but it was not strong enough, for her to lose her balance. The water chilled her, but her body adjusted. At least it was warmer than the nighttime air.
Kikyo did wash Kagome’s outfit, but the stains would not come out. She sat there contemplating on whether or not to commit this vile act. She didn’t bring a spare set of clothing for her. Either way, she would have to go back to the castle. She was not thinking things through; she just wanted the new competition out of the way. Either way she was going to have to explain why she had to leave Kagome alone in the middle on the woods—early in the morning—naked.
Kikyo scrubbed the white shirt on a large rock, using it as a scrub brush; surprisingly, the fabric did not tear. Giving up she could not get the blood out of the shirt. Hanging the strange garment, she began to work on her skirt. Maybe I could run back grab the garment, and return before the prince returns home.
“Kagome, I am terribly sorry, but I must have dropped your dress.” She waited for a screech or “I’m going to kill you” but nothing just silence. She said it again this time more formally: “Miss Kagome?”
Kagome froze when she heard Kikyo…did that mean she would have to stay here with no one around—naked and vulnerable. She thought about just throwing back on her school clothes. Her eyes opened wide, “Kikyo? Please tell me my clothes are dry!”
“Miss, please forgive me but I washed them…I had no idea.”
Kikyo didn’t think that any serious punishment would bestow this night. Depending how things went between Kagome and the prince, she would come up with a more secure plot. “Please Miss, I will return. It shouldn’t take me long.”
Kagome weighed her options…what options, she sighed. “Kikyo you can’t leave me out here alone! It’s dangerous.”
Kikyo came out from the dense foliage. “Swim downstream, there is a small part of the stream that is dense in vegetations. Just stay near the cover, and be still. I will hurry back, I promise.”
Kagome didn’t have time to protest when Kikyo ran back to the castle. Following her orders, Kagome swam downstream, looking at the bank with a now eerily feeling. She did not like being alone; she could see the black silhouette of fallen trees and dead limbs ahead of her. It looked like it has been there some time.
Kagome cringed when the mud squished between her toes. She began to feel uneasy. The water was murky, and she could feel the vines that where submerged from the fallen trees, scraped at her legs. Backpedaling quickly, she did not want to stay any longer and began to swim upstream.
Kagome was more at ease where she’d been before, she stayed partially submerged and was anxious to get out of the water. Come on Kikyo.
InuYasha scrunched his nose still smell the caked on dirt and grime. He decided, a bath was in order before his return to the palace. He decided to remove his armor, since he wasn’t that far from his favorite swimming hole. He had always loved to be outdoors, instead of sitting a musty old Castle. He loved to star gaze, and just listen to the mysterious noises of the night.
However, tonight was different, he was sad. Looking ahead, he just ran blindly while his memories replayed the evening. He just wished this night would end, so tomorrow he could start anew.
He stopped abruptly, InuYasha couldn’t believe his eyes. Here before him was the same woman he rescued not to long ago. What is she doing out here all by herself? He thought angrily. Why wasn’t Kikyo with her. He was visibly angry, with whom yet he did not know. He wanted so badly, to be angry with Kagome, as he watched her bathe.
He was angry at the way she sinfully teased his yearning desire for her. He sniffed the area; he could only smell the lingering scent of Kikyo.
InuYasha’s eyes widen when she suddenly stood up. He watched as the silver water, slid gracefully of her body. Her hair shined, under the moonlit glow, kissing her back, just above her supple rear. Her curves were hypnotizing, bewitching him further into his need.
Steeling himself, he couldn’t just take her, even though he could just simply demand her. He wanted to get to know her persuade her into falling in love with him. With a sudden confidence he grinned, “I thought I told you that it isn’t safe for you to be out here by yourself.”
Kagome froze hearing his demanding voice. “Eeek!” she screeched as she quickly submerged. Coming up for air Kagome turned around, “what right do you have to watch me…you pervert? Have some decency and turn around!”
He chuckled, as she hissed with authority. “You seem to forget that I’m the one who is royalty. I can stand here for as long as I wan-“
“How dare you! Some prince you are…spying on girls. I’m not interested on being served on your platter.” She spat, emerging further into the water. She wanted to just drown, anything to hide herself from his predatory glare.
InuYasha smirked, as he removed his tunic, baring his chest. He was proud of his build. He was not too husky and not scrawny looking either. His brother Sesshomaru received the brawn…and no brains, he added. He began to remove his pants.
“What in the world do you think you’re doing? Kikyo will be back shortly…if you want to bathe, you will have to wait your turn. On the other hand, where is your sense in chivalry? What happened to helping damsels in distress?”
“Well I do see a damsel…unfortunately, I don’t see her in distress,” he said with a witty mirth as his smiled widened. He called out, “ Maybe you should turn around…that’s if you don’t mind watching.” He began to remove his garb the tightly fit around the waist. He dropped it to the ground listening to the clanking of his sword and dagger. Next, he took of his boots, tossing them aside. InuYasha kept his gaze on the girl who looked shocked and curious all at the same time.
Kagome couldn’t believe it, he was actually going to strip down before her. She could see him slowly pulling off his pants, taunting her. She turned her body, back now facing him, and closed her eyes tightly. She tried with all her might not to be attracted to his perfect body.
“Are you done yet?” she asked, slightly out of breath, anything to distract her tingling body.
“My, my you’re rather disrespectful to the future King.” InuYasha snickered.
Kagome turned around suddenly, he was right behind her, panicked she began to wade backwards. “Stay where you are!” she demanded.
InuYasha was beside himself with this woman, he liked that she had spunk.
Kagome crossed her arms, irritated. “Hey? Where did you go anyway?”
Inuyasha’s grin, turned sour, and his eyes softened. He couldn’t look at Kagome when he spoke in a soft voice, “I went to burry Kaede.”
“You did what!” she snapped.
“We’ll visit her sometime later today. I promise.” He ducked under the water, and then headed towards shore. “Kikyo is coming.”
Kagome didn’t move. He buried Kaede…without me. Her eyes narrowed. Did she have a right to be upset? She turned her head quickly, when he stepped onto the bank. “Why did you go without me?” she asked solemnly.
“We will see her tomorrow, I told you. Besides I will tell you when I’m in the liberty of telling you.” His voice never wavered, as he pulled his pants back on.
He finished getting dressed; he glanced at her one last time. He jumped over the stream, and removed his cloak. “Mi’ Lady, I do hope this will help you warm on your journey back to the castle. I will be by to retrieve you later, just listen to Kikyo.” He smiled, and then placed his hooded garb on the shrub.
He came across Kikyo, “I will have a talk with you later. I assure she will be escorted back safely.”
“Yes My Lord,” Kikyo said in a submissive voice.
Kagome stood, she was quiet and didn’t want to think about what just inspired between her and the prince. She decided that she was in the water for to long, and the cloak would suffice for now. Making sure no one was around, she covered herself. She was cold, and began walking the way she came. She was bound to run into Kikyo, and to keep her somewhat warm. She squinted her eyes; “Sure did take her long enough.”
